GOATS or what Overwatch League casters like to refer to as a 3-3 composition has undergone a series of evolutions since its inception in the summer of 2018.
Whether you like it or not, GOATS has ran rampant as one of the most dominant strategies employed by teams in the Overwatch League despite a series of nerfs and buffs to various heroes like Brigitte and Reaper over the course of the off-season.
In this video we cover one of the more popular GOATS variants, SNOATS, and arm you with the knowledge you need to try this out with your friends next time you jump into the game!

Mei has always been a useful alternative on some maps regarding goats, but never a straight counter.
The real question is why LA didn't run a pharah or junk rat on a flank to the left high ground. Unmissable splash damage, quick ult, and no one to contest you. Ez clap.
Thats what I was thinking, even if the RipTire was killed, it isn't like there was much they could do to contest long ranged characters.
They could have faked them out by utilizing the high ground and then doing a fake dive from one side, forcing a wall, and then raping their backline whilst entering the opposite opening..

The original GOATS is actually with a Moira, not a Zenyatta. Goats with Zenyatta is simply more common in the current meta as Moira is not very powerful in comparison to other characters.
You guys should do more team comp videos like this one.

Airination if there is a good widow u can play her anywhere its just one pick or even if a good widow is there to put pressure its enough
@@theone1615 lol, they have a shield, bubble, tons of healing (so you have to hit hs) a wall, and a cryofreez ability, you really think widow is going to be good? The shield is as large as the opening of the point and it has 2000 hp. If you think that widow will work you better do your research

Serezel Vey Dawn symmetra would’ve been a pretty valid counter here. But against a mei, it can be a bit hard to get value out of Sym, as you both have to fight up close, and mei will freeze you, and pick you off quickly
Aaaaaand that's why Mei is synonymous with the Devil. That was actually kind of horrifying, like a spider sealing off it's prey in it's web
Even aside from the strategic/competitive viability of SNOATS, I'm just happy to see something different from the very stale 3-3. Thanks for a great video as always Akshon :).

They showed that clip of the game no? I believe Akshon showed the Paris clip due to the relevance of the OWL compared to the (European?) League that Winstrike played in.

as a frequent mei player, i can say the nightmare for mei walls is bastion. they could have easily dropped a bastion on the ledge above the entry to point, and cleared out enough space for heroes to fit in.
I wish highlights were still a thing. This was the only way to watch matches I missed or didn’t want to watch all the way through

My friends and I had this comp before OW had Competitive. It used to work wonders on King's Row because if you time it right you could trigger a 6 v 3 at the hotel choke repeatedly. Minus Brig of course

I have a new thing called MOATS.
It’s basically the same thing as goats but you use have 4 tanks,1 dps, and 1 healer. The healer is Moira. We all know Moira is op right?
Anyways we use the same tanks on goats but the new one is orisa. The dps is a junkrat,and the healer is Moira. They use their own strategy, but the Moira should be the leader,going in, distracting, having tanks go in,and drop out and heals.
Edit: sorry about forgetting the dps, it can be either a sombra or a hanzo. The sombra can go behind the other team, or the hanzo can get behind and get in headshot heaven.
mei can be played as an off tank.
It's true ! Kephrii taught me that, and on ladder it's extremely effective

In contenders EU SNOATS was ran a lot (especially on controll maps) to counter classic GOATS. One way to counter it was mirror SNOATS (but the win cond was only a succesful snow-globe combo), and was often also countered by MOATS or DOATS as a Winston and/or Doomfist allowed to get passed the wall easely and split the Mei.
Those were much more fun to watch as they were more diversity even in the GOATS meta.

Bastion could have worked too. The static positioning and wanting to stay in the place would have been rough after the first wall and can just make an opening.

Gladiators should've run a hog or mei. If hog can pull someone off of the point (even luckier if it's the mei), the team is fighing a 6v5 essentially and with the Lucio speed they can get in quickly. If it's a mei, they need to wall off the center and that's an easy fight assuming the other mei is blocked off on the other side.
Granted this is all theoretical so yall have any input?
I think Roadhog would've worked Although I think Mei version would be difficult considering that you would have to engage the enemy team.
The reason why you dont see roadhog that much in pro play is because RH is a mistake abuser. Playing RH assumes that the enemy team will not be bubbled or behind the shield pre-teamfight. That's why RH works in solo queue because teams are not coordinated. Also Soon can put up a wall to stop the hook from bringing his teammate away if needed. Hog brings little team fight compared to his other tanks, he does less damage than Zarya in the long run, and does not provide and form of shielding or damage mitigation for his team.

All that hog would do is end up feeding zaryas and zens even more ults
I was thinking the same thing with mei. Split the room/team and focus your freeze on enemy mei.

Akson's Highlights must be returned
With it being nepal village, the Gladiators ALSO could've went something like... Pharah/JunkRat/Bastion? Since with little room to move around, and Reinhardt and 2 healers on the point. With the insane DPS they couldn't safely kill the tank and Supports. AND with no range (Besides Zen) they can't kill any of the DPS
Only thing I can say is I stopped playing Overwatch when the time to kill became way to short a long time ago.
Which means sess room for error more cut throat.
Instead of lowering dmg.
They increased health but only on the tanks.
The lower the time to kill in a team reliant game the more reliant you become and less newer friendly

I had a thought, would it be a good idea to use a symetra teleporter in this scenario? The team which has been separated would be able to use a pre placed teleporter so that the remainder of the team can move to the side of the point that has not been walled off? just a suggestion.

The only good thing to come out of goats is all the theory crafting behind beating goats or making it stronger.
i think it depends on the map where snoats counters goats. Maps with much space to escape or to attack from many sides like Junkertown on the first point (you can push straight in; side way left and right; push from the high ground mid; high ground left and right) are not as good a rialto 1st point, where you don't have many other ways to attack (i think there are only two effective ways to attack this point: high ground or the straight way to the point).

I'm a Paris fan but credits should go to Winstrike who pioneered and perfected the SNOATS comp.
My favourite type of goats is when the team picks 3 tank and 3 healers and plays them like how 222 is played
do those skins actually effect what the colour of attacks look like or is it just for the actual teams?
i think this mei comb have to depend on what map it is, just like the video mentions. this map only got 2 entrance on the point.
but if the map have a lot open area or so, may not effective at all. even go for some high dps hero can break the wall, or sniper on mei?

We want to as well, but there are barriers in the way preventing us from doing so.
I believe on maps with a lot of chokes for mei is where you'll see her get the most utilization. I believe she can counter goats on maps she can split the team up with. How ever they could of used a junkrat to spam the point. Tires against a comp without range can be devastating. Especially with as close as goats has to be with once another for them to be efficient. Without anyone to chase junk rat, it's free damage.
Dunno if this would work as a counter but
-Mirror the Mei
-Make it look like you're pushing, have Mei go onto the point first alone to bait out the wall
-Have Mei ice block on the point, by the time ice block is over the wall is down and you can engage like it's a normal fight
One thing I always wondered is how would you make goats in the 2, 2, 2 comp?

Goats with mei is so common on Nepal tho. That one map in particular. Maybe it’s cuz I’m GM but idk I see this on my low masters smurf too
In a regular match, a snoat type team isn't even needed, some people don't realize that you need to STAY with the team to win

@2:20 you mention that LA has no idea that Paris is running a Mei. How is this possible? Do you assume they cannot just press tab?
Could've used Junkrat to contest them, either stay on point and take spalsh damage + give junk his ult or force a split.
I don't it will work on most of the other maps because of lucio that can help regroup the team quickly
Okay I will only say this once and be done. It is a testament to how OP Mei was early game that this entire time that the game has been around, to my knowledge, she was never nerfed directly. She has only been either buffed or nerfed as a result of a hero buff/change.
I dont think Ana would have been the best switch. You say yourself ealier when they get the clean 2 for 2 trade that the fight was lost because their Zen (damage) was one of the trades. If they had been running an Ana they would never have that damage, and if you put her in the (very limited on this map) long range positions to heal (that Zen can also match on this map, the only difference being amount of healing) that you mention as a positive to using her; she's going to have a very hard time getting off sleep darts and bionades of value.
Goats and it’s variations are unfun ways to play.
We need less crowd control (movement impairing: blocking paths and stun AoE).You can stun, knockback, block, trap and freeze. Lots of different CC is bad shooter design + almost half of the roster has some kind of CC which is stupid.
To name a few: Torb, rein, Lúcio, Zaria, mei, Ashe and B.O.B., wrecking ball, pharah, orisa , bridge, Jnukrat, etc.

I wonder if bastion would have any value in this setup, positioning bastion outside the point looking in could potentially get them off of it, additionally he can do enough damage to break a mei wall sector prematurely which might be useful.
In pro play if a bastion plays away from his team he’d get picked off extremely fast
How do you path to get him there? Where can he sit where snoats can't just run him over or avoid his sightlines?

What about a phara and/or jukrat? Do dva to eat up spam and Paris has to stay on point and tank that spam, it's not like Paris is gonna have range, just play out of range and let the spam hit.
