I live in Clayton county. Specifically district 4 in the Fairfield Approach community near Lake Spivey. I have three children in public schools (though they are in the magnet programs in the schools they attend). You made serval good and fair points in your video. I agree wholeheartedly that community accountability is lacking. Our commissioner in district 4 hosts incredible monthly town hall meetings where he keeps us informed on developments, crime, parks and recreation activities, allows for residents comments/questions, and so on. The attendance on these one hour meetings once a month is less than stellar. I believe the school system is making slow and steady improvement in most if not all of the statistics you referenced, but I can’t speak with absolute certainty on that.
All this to say, Clayton county is not the crime infested waste land that many in the surrounding areas would have you believe. There is a lot of room for improvements but I’ve lived here for 13 years and can honestly say they are making steps in the right direction in a lot of areas. Residents need to continue to get involved, hold our elected officials accountable, and be willing to roll up our sleeves when we need to. It takes a village.

I agree with you 100% that the school system needs grave improvements. You hit the nail on the head about low parental participation. On the other hand, I have been living in Jonesboro, never Lovejoy since 1998, and never had an issue with crime in my neighborhood.

I bought my home over 25 years ago in Clayton County, when it was prime real estate. I moved to Los Angeles, but still kept my home, upon moving back to Clayton, I was surprised at how the area had gone down. I was informed that due to the housing projects being closed down in various metro Atlanta areas, a lot of the low income tenants were moved to the south metro (Clayton). Well being back in GA for the past 5 years, I can honestly say, I have seen a lot of improvement going on in ClayCo. A lot of apartments/rental agencies are no longer taking section 8. Restaurants are opening, etc. With the recent conviction of Sheriff Victor Hill, I am interested in seeing how the crime rate will be managed. Also, the school system in ClayCo does suck. We had a great Superintendent that really turned the school system around, but he has now moved on. And Elite Scholars Academy is not only the best school in Clayton County, it's the #1 magnet school in GA. I am proud to say my kid attends there and worked hard to get in there. For all school information in any state you're interested in, www.usnews.com/education is the best information for that. Honestly from past experiences...me living in Inglewood, CA and seeing the gentrification that took place there before I left 5 years ago and relocated back to GA parallels what I see happening in ClayCo. Inglewood is in close proximity to LAX airport & downtown LA & now with the new stadium, it has totally turned that place around. Clayton County is in close proximity to the airport & downtown Atlanta. Atlanta is in the running to host the World Cup in 2026. Even if I move out of ClayCo, I'm keeping my home there as an investment property...I see big things coming for ClayCo and I honestly believe at some point, it will become prime real estate again. I'll be contacting you soon.

The question should be if you're a black family. What school district is the best school district for black families? Because I wouldn't want my child to be the only few black kids in a mostly white school

True but I've got a bit of a razz, 'cause if I were a white family I want to be where it is good for black people also. The neighborhoods close to Clayton State is a best, great community programs, more of an International community, Spivey Concert Hall , Reynolds nature preserve , family night movies, summer kids college , library, and also easy to finish High School co-enrolled at CSU and also enjoy more higher education opportunities. ❤

Lake Spivey is in Clayton county and most these stats encompasses that area as well. However, I will say Lake Spivey is one of the most affluent areas in Clayton County so the temperament is a lot different than say an average neighborhood in Riverdale. I hope that helps. Too much music showing streets and cars not saying specific of location you are filming there are several cities in Clayton county and should verbally state during video with all the music specifics on location. Stressed too much on negative and not equally on the positive. Not everyone have kids in school. If I did you can tutor and your kid can still excel it's up to the individual not the school it is your opinion with some truth but if I didn't already know the area and was from another state it would deter me from buying a home which could be a mistake for some, as all the cities within Clayton have can't be clumped to gether as one just because they are all in the same county. Some cities are beautiful quiet with little to no crime.

A real property theft ring stole a $630,000 industrial property from my dad's estate using an absolutely void judgement against me. They were assisted by the sheriffs department, a special master and 3 superior court judges. Now the special master wants to put me and my sister in jail for not paying hm his illegally generated "legal fees". I grew up there, but today law is ignored, racketeering is condoned by the superior court. Stay away, no one is safe. Heaven forbid the sheriffs department gets hold of you.

I take issue with you evaluating a county you have never lived in and presenting opinions based upon statistics you do not properly reference. You don't know what you are talking about! Before you give your unqualified opinion, talk to the residents who live in the county.
I have lived in Clayton County for 25 years and raised 3 children who went through Clayton County schools. These children went on to graduate with undergraduate AND graduate degrees from the University of Georgia AND Georgia Tech, two of the top schools in Georgia and the nation, without having remediation! Education is a supplement to what parents do at home.
I love Clayton County! It has great parks, the best managed water system in Georgia (other counties buy water from us), affordable, and accessible. Plus, we have the lowest crime rate of the counties in the metro area.
As a real estate professional, you are biased and unprofessional and you maybe steering people away from one of the best and most affordable areas to live.

    • @raymondrileyjr

Thank you so much for your thorough comment. I will over look the insults in my response in a effort to stay focus on the task at hand.
You raised a few points that I want to address.
Can you please reply with how long it's been since your child attended Clayton County Public Schools, sounds like over 15 years ago? I can guarantee you that the performance metrics aren't the same. The facts are the facts not an opinion. Mydaughter currently attends Clayton County Public Schools so I can 100% attest to the performance that MY child has experienced. I actually stated in my video that it's up to the parents as it relates to their children education can should be 100% left to the public school system.
Next, you stated I've never lived in Clayton County? How do you figure that? Contrary to your comment, I've lived in Clayton County for a combined 5 years in the following cities/towns: Jonesboro, Rex, Hampton. So you are wrong there. Overall, I had a positive experience living in Clayton County, HOWEVER, this video was to talk about MY (not yours) issues with Clayton County.
I can't miss this one, you stated Clayton County has the lowest crime rating in Metro Atlanta.... YOU JOKING right? It's not even close to the lowest. Henry County overall grade is a B+, Clayton is a D-.
Now, as a Real Estate Professional you stated I am biased? That is just NOT true. In order for you to make a claim like that you need to be a client first. Me having an opinion does't mean I take my opinion into my clients search. I've closed several properties this year in Clayton County both BUYERS. I have a listing currently in Clayton County. I am bound to NOT steer clients as I stated in the video, my videos are to help people understand certain things they may not know before relocating. Literally the first thing I tell any prospective client at our consultation is I do not steer you one or the other. What I do is try to understand what your want's and need's are and do my best to find them.
I understand you love your county and you may not agree with my opinions which is 100% okay. You are entitled to disagree with me. Thank you again, for your comment so others can see my response to the points you raised, it could help someone else who was feeling the same way.
For anyone ready this comment. I will help you buy a house ANYWHERE in GEORGIA that you want to be ....PERIOD.
