I am binge watching all seasons and have made it to your trip to a Bumble Hole Festival. I am still in quarantine with my daughter because she has special needs and is high risk health wise. So I have been enjoying your vlogs so very much. Thank you for helping me navigate through this stressful time in our lives❤️. You two beautiful souls are a blessing and so much fun.
Good afternoon. I, like probably loads of other you tubers, watch a myriad of narrow boat experiences. They vary considerably from amateurism to professionalism but I find your really nice and friendly. It’s an enjoyment to watch.
Ello Loves, I bot a 24 foot sail boat, and my 1rst "real" sail was from Oceanside California to Mission Bay, California, USA .At night, about 40 miles) And you made me laugh when you said "Boats Don't Have Brakes" I learned this as I pulled into the slip at the Marina. I put it in reverse, nothing happened. So back into neutral, then again to Reverse. This was about 11:30 at night, and all we heard were the laughs of the drunken boaters that watched us Panic. That was 40 years ago ............. I'm still here, Thankyou God ! Love your videos !
Lovely , miss our narrow boating days, in spite of all our challenges! Imagine supply teaching and trudging through the boggy land and arriving at school with one mud encrusted leg!
Good to see you showing the cats who's boss on the river. Just shows that locks are fine most of the time but it only takes a random event to remember how risky they can be. I once had a memorable event with paddles left open at both ends of the lock and crew nowhere to be seen chatting to other boaters. All adds to the 'experience'
@@TheNarrowboatExperience . Did that one night at Shepperton lock on the Thames. Going up with other boat, we were waiting for the lock to fill up, it had about 4 inches to go but seemed to be a long time filling up completely. There were some people at the bottom gates and we heard someone say, is water supposed to be coming out? That was when we realised we hadn't shut the paddles right down. The silly thing was, the chap had been telling me how he had seen a police boat do the same thing. :-)
I fell in love with this type of life after knowing the fact that it exists after watching cruising the cut and then narrowboat girl for a while but you guys provide more realistic approach feels like I'm almost in the boat🙏
I was actually looking at Pershing motor yachts so no idea how i got here, i dont have a canal boat but stayed and watched anyway, what a lovely little clip, thank you
Scary stuff in that lock! Glad you ladies are safe and sound. Also love that the sweet young couple on "Holly The Narrowboat" look to your wisdom as they tackle a renovation! They so admirably mentioned you in their most recent vlog...you are inspiring a new generation of narrow boaters 👏🏽
I found your channel from Cruising the Cut, and I have to say... I love you ladies. I have been binging all your videos like I did his... and I'm hooked. :)
FYI - for years I have cleaned stained coffee/tea cups with white toothpaste (it also cleans my white sinks in the motorhome with no damage). Just put a dab of toothpaste on the stain and using a sponge or piece of cloth, gently rub the stain. If badly stained, you may have to repeat procedure. The cup comes out clean again! Hope this helps your. PS I also have two cats. 😻😻
Morning lovely shots Bredon hill.Kath showing great skills with lazy days. Welcome to the shire enjoyed the shots of Eckington Bridge didn't realise how narrow it was. Take care 👍👍👍😊😊
Over the past couple of months I've been watching Cruising the Cut with my breakfast each day, which I love to bits and it was through that that I found The Narrow Boat Experience. David is like the Enid Blyton of boating. The sun is always shining and if not time is past with a cup of tea and a cheese sandwich. Nothing wrong with that at all but I just loved that your vlog started slightly chaotically and with wind and rain. It made me smile. It is the weather that I endured yesterday whilst out canoeing and will again today on my bicycle. Glad you survived okay. The sunken boat is a salutory lesson to us all (the wind caught me out a couple of times yesterday) made even more poignant by the fact that you said the owners had only had it for a week.
I like the cruiser stern and the square transom you have instead of the semi-trad or traditional stern. Yours is the only narrow boat blog I have seen where the boat has a square stern.
It is always so very sad to see some poor souls pride & joys sunk, but it is even more so to actually see the craft sinking, and be absolutely helpless to stop it or help to stop it,... Love your vlogs Ladies, please stay safe.. love form Devon..xxx
Kath must have been scared in that lock. I would have been for sure. Certainly an adventurous day’s boating. Glad you are safe and well. Hugs to the kitties 🇨🇦👍❤️
I lived 2 weeks on a narrow boat with a friend . Well it was a holiday. ... And let me tell you ...everyone who had a boat all treated me like i was a member of their family . It was so humbling.. it was beautiful .... I was in my mid 20,s and i lived in W.Yorks at the time . ....i was just blown away on how nice evry1 was to me ......it was like i was on another planet with people off the grid. It was my 1st time seeing what its like out of the dirty rat race . My fried sold his house and bought a narrow boat .....and i could see why ...even though i didnt want him to leave his house....
The lock with the sunken narrowboat is really difficult. I messed it up trying to Moor there. It would've been much easier if they extended the other platform for narrow boaters. Great vlog ladies.
my cat, I cant let loose unsupervised, she needs to be on a leash, close to 3 years ago she slipped out, once she is outside she refuses to mind us, the she chased a squirrel up a tree, and was afraid to come down, she spent 1 night up the tree screaming, I had to call a friend the next day that brought a 40 foot ladder, that was still not tall enough but he was able to climb another 10+ feet to get her to rescue her. even when supervised outings she has no common sense, but I have had her a decade now, & she is always been inside car, was a rescue cat about 1 year old when I got her. but inside besides clawing 1 door frame, grrrr she has been a great cat. Thanks to your videos, my wiife does want us to go to travel there, & more than likely retire there. keep up the great videos!
One day I'm going down the front page of the RUclips app killing time on a night shift, I find the channel "cruising the cut". Now I'm inundated with recommendations for narrow boating videos. Not complaining as they're very relaxing but our RUclips overlords do work in mysterious ways.
Such a beautiful river, albeit with the dangers! If lockdown doesn't scupper it, my uncle is taking me with him next week for a week on the canals (to see if I could live aboard) including the harecastle tunnel! Baptism of fire! Great video as always... just hope the wind dies down!
You went right by my home in Defford! Took my boat on Thursday 1st Oct from its mooring at Great Haywood Marina to Aston Marina as it is now being repainted PROPERLY by Trent Valley Marine. Cheers girls.
This was a really lovely episode. Thank you. Great to see the sky and clouds so different and the canal on a rainy day. It is equally beautiful. That heron was a big one. Great to see your cats roaming freely. Glad the day turned out well after all. It was exciting.
Enjoyed your vlog ladies nice cruising and nice music mooring spot looked really good especially for the cats please stay safe you both and the cats thankyou
Second thought...with all the tiny markers, why don’t you invest in a pair of binoculars? We’d be lost without ours. With the nice flat water you cruise, you don’t even need expensive marine stabilized ones, just an ordinary birdwatchers’ model would do fine.
I guess this has to be an eye opener for anyone thinking that all stress will disappear as soon as you hit the canals in your own narrowboat....hope you are still crusing and producing art on the canals..looking forward to an update..till then xox
In Tewksbury at the moment what a lovely place it is walked over your next lock onto the Severn. Did the Bridgwater and Taunton on Thursday it was absolutely beautiful and we were the only boat moving and only past one moored boat all day. Your journey down the Avon has been brilliant and I must must do it asap. Take care you two. Alan x
Hi ladies, got to say Kath you are a real pro on the tiller,as for getting stuck in the lock I cannot believe it was a brick Sticking out of the wall ,but who knows beautiful old bridge, some beautiful scenery on the trip but wet as well ,as for the sunken boat am I right it went out with the canal in flood ,,,so no insurance for them ,still so sad it was someone’s home ,yes it is a real tight lock .take care keep safe John 🌹🌹🌹💐💐💐😹😹😿😿😾😾😼😼😽😺😸🙀
So glad you got a mooring - phew.. And what a beautiful spot. Puurrrrfect 😺 First time watching your vlog sat on my boat. Been live-aboard for 3 weeks and OMG loving it!
Once got caught on the side of Kings Lock (River Thames). The ladders have a lip, which must protrude slightly. The boat tripped dramatically before being released into the water. Possibly the most unpleasant experience...so far.
Thank you for the hours of enjoyable vlogs that helped make the covid shutdown bearable. I watch every Sunday. I am a fan living in Mississippi near the river. Stay safe and enjoy Fall.
Have to work, on my side, to promote that perfect attitude, thanks for the reminder Kath, encompasses the attitude taken at meeting a freighter, for pilot, on the Columbia and climbing the rope ladder fifty feet, in your array of sea conditions, to her deck. A mind set thing.
Interesting to see the swing Bridge over the lock - we did New Junction Canal for the first time recently, which has Sykehouse lock with a vehicle-sized swing bridge over the middle. Mind you, the locks will accommodate 200ft boats!

Thank you ladies OOOP's I forgot the train.. Cross Country double unit.......
Despite the weather and your tribulations another great vlog. Wow Kath that was some awesome backing to get on that mooring but "That's the narrowboat experience" Happy cruising and vloging too ,stay safe Cheers from me
Just another possible gremlin... Have you thought about the possibility of a new lockdown, and where you want to be by then? I LOVED this video. Somehow you managed to catch the atmosphere just right. THANKS!
I once had a scare in a double lock (Meadow Lane, Nottingham). I had entered the lock to go down onto The Trent. I closed the top gates and assumed it would be safe to leave the boat to dispose of my refuse. "What else ar we leaving to do, sit around and play with the cats?" Well that sounds like a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon to me. A friend of mine, a man of few words, once wrote a four word poem that went like this. "Cats, no bad ones". Looking at yours, I am inclined to agree. Thanks for another lovely video. Cheers. right
We did that same trip last year, and it rained right through that section for us as well! I think I read that it would cost a huge amount of cash to remove the sunken boat. The week after we went through Tewkesbury it was badly flooded. Which was scary to see on tv!
Really gorgeous old bridges, I'd be afraid to hit them. But I guess if they have stood for centuries they have survived quite a few hits. Getting that narrow boat out of there might require quite a large crane that can't easily get that close?

Bad lock, bad bad lock. I have that kind of luck. Went for dental appointment on Friday to check if I’d chipped a molar, Dentist said it was ok, had a scale and polish. Today my filling fell out. Got the Grand Canyon in my mouth at the moment. Bright side....no pain.

Bravo for being so cool under pressure.

Glad you liked it
Yes Nothing like a gentle cruise.
Watching your videos here in New Zealand, and listening to you delightful ladies talk about your experiences, makes me very homesick at times.

Excellent thanks

The moored boat at 3:11 looks great. To have a bit of land to grow vegetables and such, and what looks like a shanty house. Lush
The rain looks so cool and refreshing. It’s been a long, hot summer in Northern California.
It’s probably not a ton of fun being underway while it’s raining, but I really appreciate it. It was genuinely lovely to watch.

Another lovely vlog to cheer my Sunday morning. Hugs
I once had a scare in a double lock (Meadow Lane, Nottingham). I had entered the lock to go down onto The Trent. I closed the top gates and assumed it would be safe to leave the boat to dispose of my refuse. All paddles were down. 2 minutes later I returned to find that the lock had started to drain through leaky tail gates and the boat had drifted diagonally and the rubbing strake on the bow had hung up on the edge of the lock and the stern was well down on the water. I'm not sure if it would have sunk but a hard shove pushed it down into the water with a splash! Now I don't leave a boat unattended in any lock.
Wow that is frightening. Glad nothing worse happened.
Excellently maneuvered.
This music is lovely and so relaxing. Thanks♥️
Thanks for listening

Really gorgeous old bridges, I'd be afraid to hit them. But I guess if they have stood for centuries they have survived quite a few hits.
Getting that narrow boat out of there might require quite a large crane that can't easily get that close?
What is that at the beginning of the video that looks like railroad tracks in a drained canal??
I think it's used for moving canoes to and from the river. Looking on Google maps, it leads to the road where Pershore Leisure Centre is
goo.gl/maps/bFgEQEFnRycngY2v7
ghost307 Photos and comments online show and describe it as a drainage channel. The "tracks" appear to be concrete, just a few inches high. I'm not sure, but I suspect their function is to confine water to the centre channel under low flow conditions, to keep it moving in much the same way a sewer has a narrow base channel. At times of higher flow the water can spill over to the outside channels too?
I thought it was a means to bring some heavy product in small rail carts to load onto barges: something like grain, ore, coal etc.
Drainage channel from adjacent land possibly. Rails possibly allow device to run along the channel to clear debris. Just my guess.
All I can find is that it's next tp Pershore leisure centre, I can't seem to find out what it is!
Hi ladies! From Oklahoma I luv that y’all have ur cats w ya!!!!!!!!!

That sunken boat was there when we navigated the Avon four years ago! Wonder what the real story behind it is and why it hasn’t been recovered?
