Nice video Sam! I just turned 400,000 Christmas Eve on my 07. And it has pulled all kind of trailers throw out the country 250,000 of that 400,000. Engine bay is all stock except a water pump and A/C compressor. Only thing that doesn’t work in cab is the electric rear sliding window haven’t been able to figure that issue out or even find the fuse for the thing. All my issues with truck have been in transmission. Finally after three of them I have this one in it for 235,000 and going strong. And it’s had the chain replaced in t-case.

Here’s one thing I do know and this is a fact ,and anyone can see for themselves people by dodges with Cummins in them to use them ,so it’s very rare that somebody buys a Cummins and halls air with it however I see many power strokes on my street that I’ve never seen in five years haul two or three loads or some never pulled anything ! and they are air hollers two of these guys on Cummins they use as work trucks that are not basic trucks but they still use them to toe with and they drive the Ford around empty if you look at the majority of work trucks on the road you’ll see their Dodgers and a lot of the forwards are play trucks and never get used except for the occasional Camp trailer hauling or small trailer.

Love my 03 ram 3500 srw crew cab shortbed with nv5600 6 speed, when i bought it i swapped in an 05 rear axle as my pinion bearing was shot from low fluid levels, new brakes, driveline u joints etc.. Similar mods AFE intake, gauges but no exhaust brake yet need one terribly, she is at 327k right now also! Marvel mystery oil in the fuel to save them injectors and oil and change fluids regularly she’ll last

I put Marvel in my oil as well on my 2001 with over 400k...Marvel is a detergent not a lube but after about 5 oil changes of running it your oil will look like it just came out of the bottle even with 5,000 miles on it...even though its not technically a lube I do not think it's "dry" enough to hurt anything, in fact my truck runs better than it ever has and I've never had an issue with the MMO

Anyone that owns a third gen the blend doors are a common failure on them and so is the wire in door boot needing repaired. The auto 48re are still somewhat weak stock but especially if you add any tuner to it which kind goes for any diesel really. Ball joints are common go bad and better off spending the extra money on dynatrac, EMF, or Carli if plan on keeping the truck and doing 2008.5 T tie rod upgrade is always nice option also. Want keep up on u-joints as a failing ujoints will take out the OD housing or transfer case.

I replaced the headgasket on my mine upon purchase as the previous owner was running an Edge box with 37s on stock gears. Ive since swapped to 4.56s and fire ringed and studded the head.
Ive also replaced a water pump on my 04 when it shattered in Philadelphia during winter, had no idea at the time until i stopped at a red light and saw steam under the hood and smelt a sweet smell. I drove over 20 miles to my house. Once i shut off the truck, it pissed coolant everywhere. It also cost me a head gasket as it got scorched during the drive but it did not leave me stranded!

Yeah I’m waiting to see anyone and I mean anyone post a Ford power stroke work truck that they just beat and it has 350,000 I’ll even give them 285,000 miles and they have not dumped 10 grand into it to keep it running waiting for one of those videos because I will call bullshit and everybody knows that’s a fact. That’s why Ford and fix it rhyme

Instead of just explaining blow by or the test you just talked about your truck for what seemed like a hour that I couldn't skip far enough past.
Next time you do a video do one covering what the title says.
You can always do a second video covering everything you've done to the truck and what has failed.
I'm not trying to be disrespectful because it was a good video on what has failed and gave a few ideas to do. I just think this one should've been the failed items and upgrades and another for the blow by.

    • @VBELTandSON

I wouldn't say that they are bullet proof but with good maintenance they stand a good chance same could be said about a lot of thing.

@@VBELTandSON needs to be max temp to do the cap test, but cap test means nothing according to cummins. They say vapor/smoke/cap movement means nothing and that dyno/manometer test combination is the only way to know. They actually get mad when you mention the cap test. Apparently the cap test is a modern youtube phenomenon. Told me if I couldn't afford the tests to do them myself. Butt dyno(having a 2nd healthy truck to compare yours to helps) and manometer at full temp. You can buy the manometer part from cummins for 40$ or make it yourself. I talked to 2 service writers and 3 techs(all cummins). All said the same. I get all obsessive like so I know I'm not just hearing opinion😉
I called because mine has some decent vapor, brought it in(they will only let it in the building if its 100% stock). Turned out my 226k 12 valve is actually unusually healthy and powerful for its age.
Nice truck btw. Dig the fenders.
