One important part I didn't see anyone else explaining in the comments was the giant statue (his name is Galio):
Galio is made from Petricite, which is a special material that absorbs magical energy. Sylas' (chain guy's) gauntlets are made of the same material, and around mid way through the video, you can see the gauntlets absorb the magical energy from Garen's sword (this is why Sylas could make that kinda hologram-y glowing sword that looked exactly like Garen's near the end of the video. It reflects his actual in game ability to steal other people's abilities).
In Demacia though, all magic is banned and people who are born with magic are shunned as evil (or they hide it extremely well, as is the case with Lux). No magic being used = no power source for Galio, so he couldn't move or speak at all (Imagine being an immortal coma patient with perfect awareness of all of your surroundings, and no way to communicate with anyone/anything). In fact, it had been so long since he last had a power source, that nobody even knew Galio was an actual living creature, they thought he was *just* a statue. When Lux found out that he is, in fact, alive, and that she could communicate with him via magic, the two became close friends.
All of that lore is important because it gives context for that blast of magic that Lux shot directly into the sky at the climax of the video. She did it to put enough magical energy in the air to power Galio so that he could come to their rescue.
The unspoken interesting part of this trailer that we don't know about, is that because Demacia is hardcore anti-magic (to the point of where that's why Sylas is doing the whole rebel freedom fighter thing in the first place, since he's FROM Demacia) and Lux just outed herself as a mage, we don't know what's gonna happen. Is she gonna have to flee? Will Garen go with her? Will GALIO go with her? Garen already knew she's a mage, but how will the rest of the kingdom react? She used magic to save them, will they love her or hate her for it? Will Lux and/or Garen and/or Galio join Sylas' side in a bid to make magic accepted in Demacia again? We don't know.

10:14 everyone focuses on VI here, but I love Caitlyn in this clip. Runs forward (without any weapons, and simply trusts VI will give her one) then catches her rifle in the air and IMMEDIATELY drops to her knee and flips the gun into position WHILE SLIDING and instantly lines up the critical shot just in time for VI to attack. If she would have taken a second longer to get her shot off, Urgot would have killed VI.

The reason why Caitlyn (sniper lady ) didn't hit the headshot is because she doesn't shoot to kill in the lore, so you can notice that every time she shoots someone it's to apprehend them and she tries to aim for places that would do that, and in this instance it was their armor pieces.

Something else I really like as a character defining detail, when Kai'sa and Ezreal are escaping the creatures, at the start we see him stumble and fall from the steps while Kai'sa moves gracefully, implying he's a bit of a goof, and yet he turns it into a landing roll and continues to fight.

ANOTHER THING, the sniper, Caitlin, emerges in a halo of light, signifying her 'justness' and 'goodness', while the brawler, Vi, emerges off to the side from the shadows, a hint to her past of being an ex-criminal who now fights crime, and yet we see them both standing together, but apart, one above, one below.

So for the first scene (winter one) it features mostly grey characters. It takes place in Demacia which is about honor, justice etc. But there's a twist. Magic is forbidden and if you have magical powers and they often end in prison forever with no mercy. The blonde girl and the guy with a sword come from Crown guard family (which is the second most important family in Demacia). The guy with a sword is Garen a general of the most elite army in Demacia. The blonde girl Lux is secretly a mage but since she's aristocracy she can't really get arrested but still has to hide her powers. The guy in chains Sylas is the leader of the oppressed mages and wants revenge for what happened to them. And that gigant thing with golden wings Galio is a statue made of petricite (a special material that absorbs magic) and comes to life when someone uses a powerful spell (like the laser Lux used)

Well, some people has recommended Awaken. Then, I'm gonna recommend something else: Star Guardian skin trailers, Burning Bright (Lux is the main protagonist in this one), A New Horizon (Ahri is the protagonist here an Ezreal appears at the end), Light and shadow (with Ahri, again, at the end). These are 3 cinematics to promote a skin line and all of them are connected... if you decide to take a look at them, please, do it in that order. It's inspired by Sailor Moon and the Mahou shoujo genre in general.
There is another skin line cinematic that I personally love which is Odisey - Welcome a Board. This one is more funny and has a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe.

  • @tsukkirina
    @tsukkirina 4 года назад +2

I don't really know the other two but i can explain one or two things about the castle scene. First of all that castle placed in one of big region in Runeterra (LoL universe) called Demacia. Demacia fears magic so in Demacia they forbid magic. It's because they believe that magic is the reason of the Rune Wars that destroyed nearly all civilizations in the past so now they have this rule that will instantly punish and imprison all mages in Demacia (you will go to prison if you mage no matter if you a good person or not).
And here we see two champhions (character in game) from Demacia, Garen (the one with big sword) and Lux (Garen's lil sister, the one that grab magic wand at the end). Ironically, Lux is actually a mage herself and her family been hiding this fact for a long time (their family, Crownguards, is family with high status in Demacia). In this video they fighting Sylas, a radical mage that actually had pretty close relationship with Lux when he was prisoned (you can read their comics if you want to know more about their relationship here universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/comic/lux/issue-1/0/ which is highly recommended). In game, Sylas has this ability to steal other abilities while in the lore it explained as absorb other magic power (that's why in 6:32 you'll see Sylas with magic sword that similar to Garen's, it's because he stole it just like in game). In order to save his brother, Lux finally unleashed her magic power and summoned Demacia colossus, Galio, into the battlefield.
So yeah, i don't think there's a villain and non-villain in this story. If you are Garen/Lux, you will fight for your kingdom meanwhile if you are Sylas, you will fight against those who discriminate you and your people's identity. This is what i like about LoL's lore, you can never see 100% good or 100% bad because no things such as. They always have this grey area that make all of those feels more real.
And yessss, please react to Awaken! It's also rly good ngl. And Breath (Legends of Runeterra cinematic) too! :D

  • @kirikayuumura5370
    @kirikayuumura5370 4 года назад +1

I may be a bit late but here comes a bit lengthy rundown who is who and why they are where they are.
To give you more of an Idea waht happened: Th scene in the Ice are Soldiers from a land called Demacia. The big guy with the Sword is Garen and the girl is his sister Luxana (just called Lux). Their Kingdom has a policy that discriminates and hunts mages down due to a historical catastrophy brought by mages. The Man with the chains is Sylas who leads a rebellion and has the ability to steal others abillities (Thats why he formed Garens Sword in his hands as a replica from energy). Lux is helpless in the beginning because she is hiding her magic abillities until Garen is about to die. she then unleashes a huge amount of magical energy (lightbeam into the sky) to awaken the guardian golem of Demacia Galio, who dropped in at the end to defend the demacian soldiers.
Second arc with Caitlyn (sniper) and Vi (the woman with the gauntlets). Gang memeber are trying to free Urgot (the guy with the Gadgets) from his prison ind Piltover. Piltover is the city with the highest technical standard. Caitlyn and Vi are like a police force in the city and of course ar trying to keep the gang members from freeing a criminal. The reason why Caitlyn "misses" the critical shot is because she has sworn to never kill anyone. So she cant aim for the head (which is a little ironic since her passive in game is called headshot)
The last one with your favouirite character. His name is Ezreal and he is a explorer and treasure/artefact hunter. He is at the moment in a desert region called Shurima and found the tear of the godess (the blue gem). It was rigged with a trap though and when he took it the spider thingy's called voidlings swarm in. The void is...a kind of plae only loosley connected to the rest of the world but many of those connections are around Shurima. The girl saving Ezreal is called Kai'sa who was lost in the void since childhood. She is wearing a suit thats actually a living creature that helped her survive in the void by granting her the abillity to hunt other void creatures instead of just being prey herself. Ezreal on the other hand uses his gauntlet he found in another ruin to use magic skills. Its hard for him to control so he for example almost fell down when he teleported to flee.
To your Waifu question: Kai`sa. Always!

Keep in mind that one of the greatest aspect of the LOL lore is that there is no real "villain" or "hero" the majority of the champions are acting according to their beliefs, therefore you can't really say they are bad guys and those who looks the most "good guys" do have their "dark sides" like demacia which hunt and capture every mage and magical beings they find.

I have no idea about league of legends too, but as you said: its like watching a short movie. Its is foreshadowing, makes promises - and delivers. It´s so much fun to watch, even if you are not into the universe. Thats why i love GMVs so much. There are so many people who can make impressive "movies" with those game sequences, telling me a good story without to be forced to playing a full game. Sometimes the GMV movies are even better then the game, because so much is left to your own imagination. Less is often more in this case. Your own imagination often tells you better stories than the ones someone else has planned for you. (That's why i love short stories so much ^^') Its just great.
And like always: I love you analysis. It´s .. like the things in movies are the same as they are in writing. While writing you try to force your reader to see the movie in your head. and even hear the music in it too. I love it, when its so perfectly done!

League is a weird game where any character type is considered a "champion": a murdering sado-masochistic psychopath, an innocent child, creatures that want to devour the world, people wanting to protect the world, mad scientists, kind inventors, literally anything. If you can name an archetype, that character is in the game as well as the exact opposite archetype. All of the main characters in this cinematic (even the giant statue that falls from the sky) are playable characters.
Speaking of the murdering psychopath,I recommend watching the Awaken cinematic next. It's animation quality is nearly as good as this one (being a year older) and it introduces you to even more amazing characters. Either that, or Kin of the Stained Blade, which is basically a short film centered around two characters. That one is just... God, the quality in it is phenomenal.

The "League of Legends gold" it was not intentional, but something already established, the giant's yellow is because he is a "defender" of the realm Demacia, which has solid white and gold colors, and the staff used by the magician is yellowed because of his powers of light

I'm glad you are enjoying league of legends but you will bnever understand it unless you read the lore and taht's how you can understand the characters and their motivations and all. So if you ever have free time to read the lore you will understand a lot and you can place the references in the cinematics.
Also all those characters are playable characters minus the bugs in the temple and those that were trying to release that big abomination and of course the soldiers in the stronghold.
    Magic Blond Girl - Lux
Big Knight - Garen --- Lux's big brother
    Sniper - Caitlyn - she's a shreriff
Girl with bit gauntlets - Vi - Caitlyn's partner
Bling dude - Ezreal - He's like an explorer and treasure hunter.
Abomination - Urgot - It's a long story, just read it
guy with chains - Sylas - He's an enemy for Lux and Garen (there is a comic for you to read)
    Space girl - Kai'sa from K/DA
Giant White Gargoyle - Galio - protector of the kingdom of Demacia.

The Sniper is named Caitlyn. If you watch closely all of her shots in this hit non-vitals to incapacitate. In the game's lore, she is basically a cop. So she is there to arrest those people, not kill them.
The lyrics of Warroir 2020 are the same as Warriors 2014, but Riot owns full rights to this version of the music unlike the 2014 version. That Riot is not the full owner of the Warriors 2014 is important to keep in mind if you ever react to it.
The cinematic "Awaken" is pretty similar to this one in format and has lots of wall paper worth scenes.

All of the these league cinematics (Not including music videos) are cannon in the lore. Meaning all of this that you see, is actually that something that happens or will happen inside of the league lore. Regarding that scene where Vi willingly lets go of her gauntlet: (Almost) every character in League of Legends has three normal abilities and one ultimate ability. Urgot's (the abomination that was released) ultimate ability is that he shoots out that chain and if you hit an enemy and that enemy's HP go under a certain threshold, you can reactivate the ult and it will draw that enemy to you, into Urgot, and exectute them. That is why Vi let go of her gauntlet. If she had not done that, she would have been drawin in and died

Interestingly enough....I'm not sure on this piece of information but at the moment, where Caitlyn (the sniper lady) shot the guy who wanted to pull the lever and missed his head.....I'm not sure but I think I heard from somewhere that Caitlyn has a "No-killing rule" as Batman has....so she only shoots to stop people from running or trapping them in nets like she did earlier, but she never goes for the head. But I'm really not sure if this is true or just a theory or a rumor.
If its true it would be hilarious cuz her ingame thematic is all around headshots and ace in the holes and stuff xD

The beautiful think about LoL characters is that very few of them can be called "hero" or "villain". They are just characters with their strengths and flaws.
As an example I will take the winter scene from this cinematic:
The attacking leader Sylas (the one with the chains) is a mage and he was born in a kingdom (Demacia) where mages are hated (historic reasons), imprisoned and afterwards they try to "cure" them of their abilities which is not possible so the curing process is either an endless torture or it will kill you. And Sylas basicaly started a "civil war" because he doesn't like the system and these genocide practisies.
Against him in this cinematic we have Garen who is a knight of Demacia one of the highest ranks. As an honorable knight he is trying his best to protect his country and laws and principles of said country.
Now in this situation (imho) it is very hard to determine who is the villain and who is the hero. Both parties have good reasons why they fight.
It was just a simplified example the story is much more complicated and It would need much more space to explain the details. And yes that does mean this video is done more for the people that know at least the basics of the lore. But I also think it may try to lure new people into it to find out more about the game and the story since it's vague which side are these characters and what are their reasonings etc.
P.S.: I recommend this video next - great story, and very different style of animation - ruclips.net/video/aUTU-GnxVuM/видео.html

  • @Valkraz
    @Valkraz 4 года назад

I'm not sure if anyone has explained the actual game to you at all. But, there are 150+ "Champions" (Characters) to choose from and they keep adding more. (Viego (The Ruined King) being the newest currently.) The champions are all playable, whether or not they are "Good or Bad" in the lore. You play on a team of 5 players against one other team of 5 and the first team to destroy the other teams base, wins. (Simplified) In game, the lore isn't really prevalent, a lot of people, who've played for years, know the champions but know nothing about their backstories, due to the fact you actually have to go looking for it.
As for some lore about this video in particular:
The "Blue scene" is about a rebellion taking place. The guy with the chains for weapons (Sylas) is leading a group of Mages against a Demacian army (a mage hating faction). The two on the Demacian side are brother and sister Garen and Lux. Lux is a mage in hiding, which is why she isn't doing anything for most of the video, only her brother and a few others know about her abilities. Garen is a leader of the elite military force in Demacia. Sylas was a prisoner of Demacia for a long time until finally breaking free and creating an army to stand against Demacia.
The "Magenta scene" is a treasure hunter (Ezreal) finding the "Tear of the Goddess" (which is an in game item you can buy). The scene takes place in Shurima (which is basically LoL's version of ancient Egypt, pyramids/tombs etc..) The creatures that come from below come from a place called The Void (ultimately the big bad of LoL) and are called Voidlings. Kai'Sa (the one who saves Ezreal) (she's also in KDA) comes from Shurima but was pulled into The Void at a young age and had to survive there. The suit she wears is actually from The Void and protects her.
The "Greenish/Gold scene" is two Police Officers (Vi (the girl with the big Gauntlets) and Caitlyn (the girl with the rifle)) trying to stop a group of thugs from releasing their boss Urgot (Big bad guy in cage). Caitlyn "misses" that shot because she's vowed to never take a life (I'm not 100% sure on the details though), although shooting him in the non-robotic arm probably would've been a bit more useful.
Hope this helps make sense of some things! I'm enjoying the videos so far! Keep it up!

So I'm going to try and cram everything into one comment in regards to all the stuff they crammed into this. Some of this is speculation as there's no official lore surrounding some aspects.
The first named character you see is Garen (playable in game). He's the one with the large pauldrons and the large sword. The next character you see is his sister, Lux (playable in game). Garen and Lux are the children of a very important person. They're running from chain guy, Sylas (playable in game). VAGUE BACKSTORY: The country that Garen, Lux, and Sylas comes from is very anti magic. Sylas used to be a mage hunter, but bad things happened and he was imprisoned with a metal that absorbs all magic (his chains). Lux later discovered her latent magic powers and Sylas abuses that knowledge to escape.
The next character you see is Ezreal (playable in game) stealing something from some kind of... temple? tomb? He is actually a kind of treasure hunter. The gauntlet he has that forms the bow on his wrist is from his exploration, it also allows him to make short range teleports.. He's taking an item called the Tear of the Goddess (an item attainable in game). The spider looking things that come for him are PRESUMABLY from a place called the Void, as the character that comes to save him (Kai'Sa, playable in game) is very closely associated with the void. From my understanding, they don't have much interaction outside of this.
Next scene, first character you see is the sniper framed in the window (Caitlyn, playable in game). Her and the next character (Vi, playable in game) are sheriffs in a town called Piltover. The net move that Caitlyn uses to bag that first guy is an action she can take in game. The move where Vi rockets forward is also actually an action she can take in game. NIFTY THING: You see Vi lose both her gauntlets here, and that's NOT a thing that can happen in game. They are PRESUMABLY here to stop a cult from trying to set free Urgot (spider guy in the tank, playable in game). Urgot is indeed that horrifying in game.
Now that they've all been introduced. This next scene where you see Sylas (chain guy) send Garen (sword guy) flying is really impactful with Lux (Sword guy's sister) in the background looking on. Kind of egging her on to use her magic as her brother is beaten down.
Next scene, with Kai'sa vaulting over the spiders. She is in fact a SUPER mobile champ with a lot of satisfying attack animations. In lore, she goes against most things void which is why I think these spiders she's fighting are from the void. They MIGHT be a reference to another character not pictured here who may have been the cause of her void powers.
Short jump back to the staff landing in front of Lux, almost luring her into her magic.
Back over to Urgot, who uses what is synonymous with his in-game ULTIMATE ABILITY that sucks people in and executes them. Vi loses her gauntlet (which as I mentioned earlier, not a thing she can do in game but is EXCELLENT in video).
To Lux, pulled her hood down and magic-pulling the staff to her. Her lore has changed a couple times (they change things when they update entire countries and things), so I'm not 100% sure if she's *meant* to be hiding her magic at this point. The sword that Sylas (chain guy) summons in his hand is nearly a perfect match to Garen's (sword guy) sword. This brings up some really neat facets, as supposedly Sylas's chains can only absorb magic power. Meaning either Garen also has some latent magic ability, or his sword is magical. Lux fires the giant beam into the sky, kind of reminiscent of her ultimate ability which is usually targeted at other people and really hurts.
We move back over to Ezreal coming back in to save Kai'sa and he gives her that little head bob. His voice lines in game make him out to be very cocky, and this seems to kind of lean into that.
Moving back over to Vi and Caitlyn running at Urgot, you see Caitlyn slide on to the floor and three lenses pop up on her rifle and you here almost a kind of laser charging sound. That's her ultimate ability in game. Vi punching Urgot in his face is just cool.
Same with Ezreal and Kai'sa teleporting through the voidlings.
And we finish off with Galio (giant statue guy, playable in game) being summoned from the sky to do battle with Sylas. He's a kind of guardian of the entire nation and is geared against magic.
I think I got everything. Whew.

9:26 You are wrong, brother! Kai'sa is there. Yes, the one who Evelynn hit with her car and the one who had floaty things and the vase swirling around moments is that same girl who had a mask. She is called "daughter of the void" because she survived the void's corruption and didn't go insane like her father. Long story short she fell in the void with the crawly creatures, father crafted a body suit entered the void, suit gets corrupted and he leaves the place empty-handed not knowing his daughter actually was down in the void for 20 years. So Kai'sa is called the daughter of the void because the void is believed to be a place where if someone falls in, they never come back because you get consumed but Kai'sa has a line where she says, "The void is not so much a place, it is a power reaching out to consume all life."
In a way she is like a cockroach girl in League or some hybrid insect because she has both and endo skeleton and an exo skeleton.
There are no good and bad guys in League of Legends they just are like you and me, it depends on perspective and yes she is a character in the game, that is part of the kit and yes it is broken but there is a reason why Kai'sa, Jinx and a lot of other marksmen are called "Hyper carry" for a reason.

Luxanna and Garen Crowngaurd are the two characters at the frozen castle.
They are nobles and military officers from a country called Democia. In Democia being a mage (being born with magic) is illegal and will get you hunted, imprisoned and even killed.
Lux is a Mage who has been hiding and trying to control her abilities to us Light magic. This is why she is hesitating throughout the majority of the battle.
While working she discovered the awful and inhumane treatment of the more powerful mages, locked in cages and forced to drink poisonous elixirs that would rip the magic from their bodys.
One of those mages was Sylas. A man in petracite shackles locked away in the deepest prison cell. (The man attacking Garen) Lux befriends Sylas and he teaches her how to control her powers. Due to a series of events Sylas is about to be executed and Lux tries to stop it. Sylas uses the opportunity to steal some of Luxs magic, escape, and lead a civil revolution nearly killing Garen and the King of Democia.
Sylas is stopped in the end and flees up north to the Freljord to recruit Northern mages to his army which he then leads to attack a democian fortress (which is where the cenimatic picks up)

All the characters which are obviously important are "champions" which you can play, if you ignore the lore of the characters and simply look at it from a game mechanic's standpoint no character is defined as the "villain or hero" you just play 5v5 with any "champions" you desire to play. Whereas if you delve into the lore there are champions that have similar interests and interaction for example Vi and Caitlyn (3:04) are partners they are like the police force of their city which corresponds to some of their various "skins" like "Officer Caitlyn" but mechanically it plays no role. Trust me the game isn't as good as it seems to be, their cinematic team is the most talented unlike the balancing team of the actual game.
