    Hi Matt,
    i love ur Bike. U inspiered me to buy a green XSR myself. I´d love to see a video about the Mounting of the Givi Crash Bars. I Have no idea how to install the holders on the suspesion but i´d love to add these to my bike.
    Thanks for sharing ur ideas!

    Thanks for all the input. I finally got my IBEX skid plate ( about two weeks shiping from Belgium to California) and it is a nice piece of metal. Getting the attachment point for the GIVI crash bars on the rear shock was a little challenging but that is done ( a one man operation ) so I am waiting for the weather to cool to finish the job, While I am waiting for that I am hoping that the skid plate doesn't interfere with the crash bars. If it does I was hoping you could explain how you bent yours so nicely. Thanks again.

      Nice one! Good job getting the bars on, they can be a pain with only one person! Glad I could be of some help with the video. With the plate, I literally just smacked it with a hammer using a cloth to not scratch it! 😂 It wasn't very elagent I must admit!

      @@ballamoto Matt just finished up with the crash bars and went to check the fit of the skid plate. There is no way this skid plate is going to slip in there without the crash bars being loosened. Does this sound right or am I doing something wrong? What tires are you running they look like Shinko? Thanks again.

    Thanks for this! it really helps. I got the bars but still figuring out how to install them properly. Could you explain a bit better why the rear suspension part is tricky? how did you do it? Thanks!

    • @ballamoto
      @ballamoto  3 года назад +2

      Yes unfortunately I didn't film that! The bars need to be attached to the suspension mount. In order to do that you need to remove the bolt from the suspension. So you will need to jack the bike up, and also jack the rear wheel up, to make the suspension "neutral". I would take a look at a video of how to remove the rear suspension (same for most bikes), and that will give you a better idea of what to do 👍

    Nice video Matt! When you make the small revs in the end, is that down quick shifting?

    • @ballamoto
      @ballamoto  3 года назад +1

      Yes, well not 'quick shifting' as such, but rev matching to change down smoothly yeah 👍

  • @biker1106

    Liked the video so much I went and bought the same crash bars and skid plate. I have a 2019 MT07 and I am wondering what you installed first, the bars or the skid plate? I'm hoping it doesn't require bending the skid plate like yours. I received the crash bars already and just waiting on KGL for the Ibex skid plate. I am in California and the only place I could find the Ibex skid plate was in Belguim. If you have any pull get them to find a distributor in the States.

    • @ballamoto
      @ballamoto  2 года назад

      Oh awesome! I installed the bars first, and to be honest you need to get the plate off and on with the bars installed so you can change the oil filter when it needs doing. Some guys have said they didn't need to bend the plate, so you might be in luck! Bending mine just made it a lot easier 👍 good luck!

      @@ballamoto Thanks for the reply. I have a sneaky feeling that perhaps your aftermarket exhaust might give you a little more room than stock pipes. Just had my coffee and am going to go tackle again. From the looks of your post a number of people have installed this matchup and I am the only one experiencing any problems. Makes you want to go hmmmm. Wish me luck. Then again if it doesn't squeeze in there without loosening the bars no biggie I like to wrench. Just thought I was missing something,
      One more thing it looks like your running Shinko tires? If so what are your thoughts?

    • @ballamoto
      @ballamoto  2 года назад

      @@biker1106 that is strange, it should fit better with the stock exhaust, or at least that's what I've heard, as the pipes are a little more bent out of the way! Well good luck! 😂
      I'm actually running the Scorpion STRs now, and love them, both on and off road they're great! I was running the Pirelli MT60RS and they were great on road, but not amazing off road - ok on light gravel but anymore than that and they were a bit slidy!

      @@ballamoto Well I had do take one side of the crash bar off and loosen the other a little to slip the skid plate in. I had to bend the plate like you did to get the 4 screws to line up.I think it would have fit if the front of the plate didn't have that bend at the top. It was to wide to slip between the pipes and the crash bar, Maybe next oil change I'll flatten the top edge so it will slip between. Other than that I am stoked with the outcome. Thanks for the help.
