[4K] AIR CHINA I JFK Approach & Landing (Boeing 747-8i)

I never knew that Air China used to fly into JFK before COVID until watching this video!! And I only just recently noticed that Air China is now flying the 747 back to JFK again. Too bad it comes in after 10pm at night to ever be captured by plane spotters at JFK. Excellent video!!👌👍👍Bad landing!!😁👎✈️🛬

Nice video! 747 always have a rough landing cuz it’s heavy.. everytime I flew 787 on air china and it has a very smooth landing :)

That 13L visual approach can be quite rough! Lol the smoke from the gear! That was definitely not a butter lol.
EDIT: Also, very cool at 3:25! Awesome view of JFK! You also can see a departure (3:34) if you look carefully.

unless you do an aerodynamic landing, it is hard to butter a 747. Looks like it was heavy and the wind was strong so they maintained throttle until touch down.

Great footage. The over view of NYC is just amazing. Landing was damm rough. The right turn on short final at a low altitude is impressive.
Why at JFK airport aircraft need to be towed to the gate?

Thank you! Landing on 13L is usually a hectic landing and you usually feel that final right turn...especially when it's raining. As for the towing, I'm not sure. Hopefully, someone who knows might answer...Thanks again and cheers!

It’s only at that particular terminal it’s done, at Terminal 1 because it’s a tight spacing between aircrafts.

Monday I’m flying air China flight 982 from JFK to Beijing then I have a short layover to my connecting flight to Bangkok. Do you think I’ll make it?
Cool video, I’ll be taking this same flight on the way back home to NY.

That's awesome! You should be able to make the connection. When you arrive in Beijing, you will have to clear Chinese immigration and do a security clearance before boarding the connecting flight. Look out for airport workers who will expedite this process. Have a pleasant trip!
