Im looking to add relief shading to my gpsmap1242xsv. Im a simrad guy and just purchased a vessel that came with the garmin gpsmap1242xsv installed and learning it. From what ive heard so far i'll need to pay for the g3 cartography card for my area to get relief shading?
Does my garmin echomap chirp 94sv support relief shading or i have to buy a new unit for it. If i have to buy a new unit, which one is the most affordable/cheapest unit that support relief shading?
Hello, the CHIRP version is not compatible with the high resolution relief shading. It would need to be an ECHOMAP Plus series or newer. Please let me know if I can help with anything else. -MR
@@GarminInt They dont sell the Echomap plus 9x any more so i bought the Garmin Gpsmap 7408 8" Chartplotter after i check if they had the relief shading and they do. Just to be 100% sure, Garmin Gpsmap 7408 8" Chartplotter support relief shading right?
I have tried it twice in the Sarasota area. West Marine says some areas are blocked because of the risk of over fishing unless one goes way offshore. Is this true?

Would the difference of contour line and depth on sonar give you the lake offset? For example, you are at the 100 ft line and the sonar show 70 ft. The offset would be -30 ft.
I recently purchased a 93uhdsv. The unit has only 1 miceo and card slot. I'm wondering if the g3 ultra card has to stay in the unit to be used or does it download itself to the unit so that I am still able to utilize my quick draw functionality.
@@GarminInt Great! That is good to know. I have a second question. I updated my unit to the latest software. That took one of my SD slots and the card has to stay in the unit. To load the update I had to install the “Active Captain” app. That used my other SD card slot. So now I have both card slots full with 32GB SD cards. With both SD card slots full, how do I upload the software onto my 7612xsv?
After the software has been updated, the SD card can be removed. If you're using the SD card slots for other data, you can temporarily remove one of the SD cards and insert the software update. After the software has been updated, the software update card can be removed and the other card can be reinserted. -MR

Does the new G3Vision card stay in the unit after install? I can’t wait to try out the card on the near shore canyons here in the Monterey Bay. I have a B175HW transducer and I am looking at adding the GT51-TM DownVu/SideVu 500W, Traditional 600W Mid-band Transducer. This is the most powerful transom mount transducer with both DownVu and SideVu. I fish in Monterey Bay where I can go from 40’ to 2000’ depths in minutes close to shore. I rarely fish below 800’. Is this transducer a good match to go along with my 1KW B175HW? I really appreciate the assistance that you have provided. Thanks again
