- In this video I make some mods to make the swamp runner easier to travel with , show how to handy it is to have a prop puller, and have some jetting info for the Predator 301.

Thanks for the idea. Like your homemade anchor too
Thanks for the idea of the tiller stick I’m going to have to make one for my Long tail
Pull handle change is a good idea
how long the shaft from motor to prop and what do think about shorting shaft.
good video!
You are obviously very imaginative
Does the grease you insert in the housing get all the way down into the shaft as well ? Or is there other zerk fittings to insert grease on the shaft ?
There are several zerk fittings on the shaft.
The tiller should be hands-off operation you should not need that pipe thing Im thinking your set up is off balance, have fun!
So what happens when your skeg hits a log, rock, low water spot when the shaft needs to come up and push the tiller down in the boat, with your little PVC "tiller stick" piece? Change the balance of your motor on the mount and it'll be a "neutral" weight when at the proper depth in the water. And you won't have to hold it up at the proper spot since that's where it will naturally want to sit
hey mate, I know this is an old video, but what kind of exhaust have you got on it? and how quiet is it? cheers
It is a racing exhaust that used to be offered by SPS. It is made in Thailand and it is quite loud, at least it directs all the sound out the back away from the boat. Even though it is loud is sounds good......makes the boat sound like a Harley.
Wow i can not find one video of this boat on the water. Kind of a shame because there are a million videos of the 212 cc and 420 cc and 670 cc nothing on the 301 cc
unfortunately I don't get on the water as much as I would like too, and when I do I'm not overly thinking of making a video. The 301 is a great motor for this application though, as it makes more power and torque then the 212, without the extra weight of the 420. I can tell you that on this boat it does around 19-20 mph and goes about 15 miles on a tank of gas.
I've always wondered how the 301 runs.
I went with the 301 for two reasons, first it has the size pto as the 420 so since I got the medium swamp runner if I were to go to a larger boat in the future I can just replace the 301 with a 420 and use the same swamp runner. The other reason was because it has almost twice the torque of the 212 even stock and even stock the boat when like a scared rabbit. Since there are not as many mods available for the 301 I saw it as a way to get as much or more performance with it as a more highly modified 212.
Yeah, it's amazing the torque of the big blocks. I mean it's almost like diesel.
What’s the top speed you got it to after mods
about 19mph. On my 12ft johnboat.
Try running the the hurricane prop from sps should get you in the 20s
All these parts you bought for the engine ARC Racing sales them or you can find them cheaper on ebay an all the engines are are race kart engines
Most of the stuff I got from NR racing.
Gopowersports makes a stage 1 kit for the 301 and 420
The story that it is cold in winter and hot in summer
Or you could just use a piece of wood half drilled and a mallet...
