Since the food falls out of her almost immediately in her ruined form, theres a chance that the sensors cant find it, so she cant even satisfy her intense hunger. Shes always starving, and she cant fix it.
That makes it soo much worse (Edit): like imagine being in constant unstable pain and hunger but even though you're eating it won't stop and it just gets progressively worse so bad that you don't even flinch when the skin of your arm and face begin to fall off due to the maltreatment of your body maybe it didn't even fall off maybe you where so hungry you ate the only thing around *you*. So unbelievably hungry that even after being crushed mamed and broken beyond repair the hunger is all that you can think of it rules your life and controls your every thought. Sounds bad doesn't it?
"Look at these new animatronics we built! They have super advanced AI!" "Oh, cool." "Yeah. They have thoughts, personalities, insecurities, eating disorders, anger issues-" "Wait. Why did you give them all those issues?" "..."
"What is my purpose?" "You attract children, adults, and deviants for profit..." "...You also have mental disorders from AI training, because programmers are expensive." "...." "Have a faz-terific day"
Tbh I don't think they were programmed with those issues, so much as those issues came from the way they were programmed. They were programmed w/ personalities, thoughts, and feelings, and them being mistreated by Fazbear Entertainment made them develop these issues Like, I don't think they programmed Roxy for example to have insecurities. But the personality they gave her would inevitably lead to insecurities if she was made to feel like she wasn't "the best"
I mean if you wanna look at it through a botched ass lens, Chica Freddy and Roxy are all parts of the original cast (Foxy, Roxy, there’s a Foxy plush in Roxy’s room, I’d say she’s Fazbear entertainments more modernised Foxy to fit in with the 80’s glam rock theme because it’s hard to fit a pirate in there. This could also contribute to her mentioned anxiety and self esteem issues as she may understand that she’s an alternate iteration of something that’s existed long before her that needs to meet an entirely different standard) with Monty being the only real ‘new’ one, hence why he’s got the most basic characteristics and probably the most bunged AI and personality (excluding hasty/lazy writing). Man I still wish we got to see some form of Glam Bonnie active. At least we got confirmation that he wasn’t just decommissioned and replaced, but physically broken and destroyed
Also the bowling detail. If she did play bowling with Freddy and Bonnie, that would be the “old gang” hanging out while Roxy and Monty, the newcomers, get left out
I have a theory that modern FNAF is meant as a satire of how companies demand massively overqualified staff to do relatively menial work, and then demands that they use as little of their intelligence as possible in order to do it. Fazbear Entertainment has incredibly sophisticated AI, but what's it using it for? Nothing that any random guy in a suit couldn't.
"Fazbear Entertainment has incredibly sophisticated AI, but what's it using it for? Nothing that any random guy in a suit couldn't." Honestly, those statements right there were incredibly eye-opening. I always thought it kind of...odd (if not outright icky) to make robotic entertainers who are sentient (likes, dislikes, personality, self-esteem, etc.) and then, well, "lock them away" in the building that they will only know for the rest of their lives. It was already bad enough with that thought of mine, but you made me realize that, yeah, what *could* Fazbear Ent. be doing with these beings? More interactivity, I guess? It's a way to make a mascot character that you don't need to pay wages for. Hell, based on the negligence surrounding them and even the human employees, what does the outside world think of sentient AI (if it exists outside of Fazbear Ent.)? Are they given rights? Ugh. There's so much here.
But a guy in a suit would have to be paid! paying people is very anti capitalist, so no matter how much people or ai’s must suffer it’ll save a bit of money
I miss when Fazbear Entertainment was merely a mildly incompetent company running a chain of pizza restaurants and not a nebulously evil corporation with holdings in real estate, artificial intelligence, video games, human experimentation, and whatever else the books think of next
It's satirical without really trying to say anything because honestly that would be very hypocritical on FNAF's part considering how much they make from merch and with a virgining movie career will only bring more profit to Scott and those involved. It's very tongue and cheek and light but that's how it should be.
insert that one panel from spiderman of the "With the ability to alter genetics like that, you could do so many great things, like curing cancer!" "but I want to turn people into dinosaurs!" moment
The bathroom scene is honestly became more horrifying the moment you opened my eyes to the fact that it was referencing, or least thematically similar, to how drug users commonly overdose in the bathroom. The more and more I look at her model in this pose makes it very obviously, at least to me, that is was 100% intentional. Her head is lulled off to the side and her eyes are void of life, almost like she is fluttering between the state of being high and on the verge of passing out/dying. If you look at her right arm, the gunk just above the elbow is very reminiscent of when certain users tie off their arm with a belt prior to using their drug of preference. This has got to be the most horrifying imagery this franchise has ever pain, and it is too close for comfort when aligned with our reality.
i don't think it has anything to do with drugs at all. i personally thought it was a bit too real (and even a bit too much, borderline insensitive) due to the fact that people with extreme bulimia will binge so much their stomachs rupture and are often found dead in their bathrooms after a final attempt to purge. i see where ur coming from tho and both are addictions so there's going to be parallels.
Personally, I think it's great symbolism, if intentional. It's not so in your face, not outright saying "hey, she died of an eating disorder, isn't that fucked up?" But just. There. In a way most people don't notice.
I feel really bad, because this is honestly a really creative application of something that's likely wrong. The 80's aesthetic and its history of drug use would line up with this perfectly- but I don't trust FNaF's writing to do something this cool
I feel so bad for Glamrock Chica. Her character deserved so much more care and depth in Security Breach and Ruin and while I’m glad she gets more development in Help Wanted it’s really a shame that her introduction was butchered like that
@@notrealnamenotatall2476yeah. Also sorry for making all my comments about monty lol you can probably tell how passionate i am about characters i rlly like.
fun fact, hens have HUGE apatites due to large caloric demands in order to produce eggs everyday. i have hens and food is always on their little minds, and they will almost prioritize it above all else.
Wow. I already felt bad for Glamrock Chica because I could tell that she had some form of an eating disorder, but this really showed just how tragic and sad her story is. Eating literal garbage to feel okay, losing her “humanity” and turning into a zombie, and her essentially dying in a bathroom and her last words being about food… not gonna lie, I almost cried She’s a robot, but the Glamrocks are depicted to have very human personalities and behaviors, which still makes this a horrible tragedy. Poor Chica
I like To Think all of the Arcade Cabinets like Chica’s Feeding Frenzy demonstrates all the issues that the GlamRocks suffer from. Chica suffers from an eating Disorder, (Extra Info: Vanessa’s appearing in Chica’s Feeding Frenzy might imply, At Night Chica sneaks Out for Food and Is Caught By Vanessa.) Monty has jealousy problems as seen in Monty MiniGolf, He Wants to be the one in the Spotlight, Always desiring to Replace Freddy and get all the Attention. Roxy Suffers from Insecurities. Sun: Always have to Painfully swap from Sun to Moon, Sun is always Helpless to do anything to keep Moon from Coming out, knowing of Moons Cruelty and Programming.
Really shows you how scary bulimia can be. I had it and I considered myself LUCKY to have not really gotten into the eating garbage symptom (it’s real. My friend had that symptom)
I always found it interesting that when you give Freddy her voice box he immediately confronted Greggory about it. With all of the others he gave him the benefit of the doubt but with chica he immediately say that it belongs to her. It’s the only time in the game where he confronts Greggory about his behavior.
Her line "I need to be FIT!!" also seems to at least imply that Fazbear Entertainment might've implemented the idea into her robotic mind that gouging down on unhealthy amounts of food will keep her thin and fit, which is awful to think about, coupled with the high plausibility that she has an eating disorder. Also, if what you said about the books mentioning that multiple pizzaplexes have the exact same Glamrocks with the exact same problems is true, then it may mean that Fazbear Entertainment is giving the sentient animatronics these issues on purpose.
In their defence (barely),she's a robot. No amount of eating will actually effect her looks. Of course, I'd she's parroting this idea to kids then it's arguably even worse
Glamrock Chica would be my favorite animatronic if not for Sun & Moon. There’s something that hits me so hard about a robot who keeps gorging herself on pizza and trash as it hurts her more and more until she inevitably falls apart.
I'm only realizing now how actually messed up it is to design a being that has no biological need for food and program it to have such a severe eating disorder
Yeah sorry Ihonestly I never liked Chica because of how creepy she was but sun and moon just seems so approachable maybe sun more than moon but still plus Kellan Goff killed it as far as the va for Sun and Moon is concerned
I like the fact that it shows in ruin that chica has a trash bag in her stomach for the food she eats, and that shows how she can keep eating. I would probably think she would open her stomach hatch and replace the trash bag when she’s full.
oh hey, i should have checked the comments because i had this thought too! i thought she would be brought into empty dining rooms after parties to eat up all the mess and leftovers.
@lilacpenguin5329 That honestly makes a lot of sense. Maybe after a while it became so ingrained into her coding that it because part of her personality.
Fazzbear's lack of care also affects the animatronics, much like real-life star stories in fact, besides Freddy, all the other glamrocks have some habit that a real person can use to deal with pressure and it turns into something harmful, Chica eats compulsively, Monty has excessive anger that only goes away when he breaks something, and Roxy belittle others and feeds her desire to be the best because she seeks approval and in reality feels bad about herself. They all also have attractions that ironizes or encourage their bad habits, and even Sun and Moon were placed in a difficult position for their personalities, like, dealing with children is already complicated and two different and also so intense personalities for the same animatronic wouldn't help, they would need supervision or at least be separate to operate the daycare together.
Plus the daycare attendant was originally a theater performer bot, so they had to be completely reprogrammed to a new job that they had no prior experience in, but Fazbear gave up on getting rid of the “Moon” personality so they had to deal with THAT as well. Fazbear Ent. dgaf
@@tinybubble330 It seems kind of strange that they would reprogram a robot when they have all those endos downstairs that could be put in the position. It seems like it would be a lot harder to alter an existing animatronic than it would be to just make a new one.
@@Here_is_Waldo I mean the daycare attendant is very clearly equipped with a completely different endo from the spare ones, probably there is only one of them ever made. their body type is different from any other animatronic
God, the second you froze that image of Chica in the bathroom my heart SANK. It hadn't occurred to me until you brought it up but I got it instantly... Memories of my high school health classes to be honest. It's horrifying to think that she might've been programmed with "hunger" and never be "full".
@@usernotfound_____yet basically one of the most common eating disorders is called bulimia, where somebody eats abnormally large amounts of food (binge-eating) and then purges the food, often forcing themselves to vomit, taking laxatives, or sometimes excessive exercise
@@usernotfound_____yet I posted a comment somewhere in this comment section but to put it short: Chica is positioned in such a way that is very realistic to that of people who have overdosed and have been found in bathrooms dead from their narcotic of choice.
I thought it was supossed to be an allegory to what could happen to a person with eating disorders if they can't find help in time: A Lot of them are found unalive in bathrooms because their organs stop working because of the damage that the eating disorders provoke on them, in this case, Bulimia @@Cerderius
As someone with an eating disorder, I connect to Chica a lot, especially since HW2 made it very very clear she has an eating disorder, at least to someone who's been in that position. People primarily focus on the binging and purging of Bulima, but what doesn't get as much attention is Exercise Bulimia, characterized by binding and then exercising to excess. People don't take it seriously because 'exercise is good', not really knowing how damaging too much of it can be ESPECIALLY when combined with binge eating and sometimes other disorders. I'm really glad you noticed and brought attention to this, and the eating disorder thing as a whole I think it's really important and a lot of the times I feel like it's glossed over. I love your character deep dives, keep up the great work!
I completely agree and I’m so glad I found someone that thought the same as me…. I’ve had an eating disorder (extreme anorexia) for over 6 years now and have been trying to get better so seeing a character go through the same thing I have, even if it isn’t explicitly stated, it’s kinda nice.
@@LadyBernkastel92 someone actually posted a theory on tumblr and honestly i think they've hit the nail on the head. the animatronics issues started to be recorded after bonnie disappeared. eating disorders, self esteem issues and poor anger management are all signs of trauma. freddy's chronic optimism could be a coping mechanism because he thought he went through the worst thing possible and things could only get better.
im glad more people are realising how tragic glamrock chica is. In security breach she was already showing really concerning signs. From the moment we first see her we can see that she doesnt act normal like the other animatronics, she walks around like a mindless zombie and has lost all her personality traits apart of eating. When you enter mazercise you can hear a recording of her voice introducing you to the attraction, in which she sounded much more energetic and lively, while in the actual gameplay her voice is more robotic and doesnt give off any energy most of the time, it seems like she has actually lost her mind. All of this really stood out to me, specially after I found out that if you get close to her and pay attention, you can hear constant crying noises coming out of her. She was a "food addict" with no self-control but at the same time, she was *conciously suffering* as she kept damaging and losing herself in this spiral of self destructive eating habits
The tragic case of Glamrock Chica makes me wish for a future game to have Fazbear Entertainment shown as an actual antagonist. Although I feel like the series prefers dealing with how awful this company is in more subtle ways (like here).
I feel like Fnaf is in a weird place where the mega corporation is blatantly the bad guy, but they really can’t afford to be too much more explicit than this because at the end of the day, all the console and distribution companies they need to publish these games through are, in fact, also mega corporations. 😅
@@sagrawolfyeah we could play as a whistleblower who goes undercover as a Fazbear Entertainment employee, learning that while the animatronics and the other employees have good intentions, they are unknowingly corrupted by greed or hostile AI programming.
@@sagrawolfdont know of that would happen for both in and out of universe reasons; In universe, Fazbear entertainment has basically "permanently shut down" a dozen or so times for their crimes, but always managed to claw their way back, no matter how many kids they got killed this time. Out of universe, I doubt they would shut down FE because if they did, then a core element of the franchise (the children's entertainment place the animatronics are) goes away
i mean she technically does because in one of the security breach messages it stated that the maintenance costs after chica eating trash is expensive, and i guess chica got in this state in ruin by destroying herself if there’s nobody who repairs her
oh shoving food into herself without any way to grind down/destroy it was definitely ruining her internal mainframe especially if whatever she shoves down her gizzard contains liquid, electronics and liquid don't mix (granted, the glamrock cast may be water resistant, considering monty can swim while being basically half of a endoskeleton) the fact she can even boot up and stay powered for a short amt of time in ruin if we take her eating related damage is surprising at minimal
If it's anything, the original Chica has a minigame where you have to clean roaches out of her, which are from her eating and the food just sitting inside of her
Monty can swim in water in Ruin DLC which threw me for a loop, but my assumption is that these security breach endos are waterproof. I dont have proof but this helps me sleep at night
I always thought that Glamrock Chica had not only the potential, but the resources to become just as great of a character as Roxy or Freddy. They kind of wasted her in some way, but thankfully we did get to see our favourite chicken with an eating disorder back in Help Wanted 2, and it actually improved her character. Good job Steel Wool! Now it should be a good time to give Monty some love too. He was my favourite animatronic pre-release and now he's kind of left behind. I still love him though.
It feels like they created Monty for no reason and every time they have to implement Monty, it always seems like they don't like him. A petty part of me sort of wishes that they hadn't bothered creating Monty at all if they weren't going to utilize him in a meaningful way. It's so bizarre to me how little they implemented Bonnie, Monty and Foxie into the plot of these newer games. I like Monty too, and I hope he gets some kind of comeback, even if it's as a conspiring bandmate-murderer.
@@lilacpenguin5329if there’s any lore that could possibly be gleaned from this, it’s that Monty is the only completely original character in the main band and as such, he had to have a completely new AI created for him in a short period of time to replace Bonnie (and as we know, Fazbear Ent. is notorious for cutting corners and taking shortcuts so it’s no wonder he’s a complete wreck in personality and therefore can’t be built upon) For writing reasons it’s probably because he was the least popular character irl. A majority gravitated towards the Faz Dad of the year, plenty of people feel bad for Roxy because self esteem and anxiety issues are pretty easy to relate to, and Chica is Chica: she’s an OG character and stays true to her originally designed personality from the first games. In the main cast Monty is the only one who doesn’t really have anything ‘special’ about him besides “me angy, me beak stuff” and there’s no nostalgia to draw people to him like there is for Chica. I think if the devs and writers had a little more time to complete the game as originally intended he could’ve had a much deeper personality and more proper interactions. Even if it makes him a backstabbing band mate murderer
@@lilacpenguin5329 many animatronics were not exactly used in a meaningful way, just saying The bidybabs, Balloon boy (and JJ ?), the shadows animatronics are a total mystery, Yenndo, a few of the animatronics in pizzeria simulator, etc... Monty might just be another one of those animatronics, that's all. Also, pretty much since FNAF sister location, the original gang has been slowly replaced or changed, there is always gonna be a freddy, some sort of bonnie, and maybe a chica and a foxy variant, but lore wise, I guess it does make sense, at least lore wise, to not just make the same character AGAIN after many years of scandals and drama
She got robbed in ruin. Before she was supposed to have a main role in Ruin, the protagonist was supposed to be a blonde girl with low twintails who wears Glamrock chica accessories and the real ending was supposed to be the Burntrap ending, but they changed that.
@@featdirty1127monty being the Universal Backup character for all the Pizzaplex locations would be messed up; Almost no other locations have their emergency Monty's activated, to the point they cheap out on storage and just let their Monty rot away without ever being turned on. Maybe even scavenging parts from their Spare Monty's like the Mangle. Monty test ok with focus groups but not good enough to be used unless a Pizzaplex needed another character real quick. He has limited personality and his games could easily all just be other characters games reskinned cheap green.
Glam Chica turned from a Corporate ditz with no personality, to a struggling addict, and honestly I think it was a very well done transition. You can see how Chica walks robotically and her dialogue seems designed by committee, and as you keep watching her eat out the garbage and pushing away staff bots to get her fix, I started to emphasize with her. In her Shattered State, she probably just doesn’t know what to do, and is likely furious and desperate that she can’t taste or eat anymore without her beak. They did her well imo
Honestly, one theory i DO like is the idea that Chica, the most "robotic" of them all in how she moves, is *trying* (and failing) to fight whatever's controlling her. That she very much does NOT want to harm a child at that moment. ...at least for Security Breach
@@higueraft571i adore that theory. especially given that the only other surviving original member, freddy, is the one to help gregory. her connection to her past, to previous iterations themselves being children who were mercilessly brutalized and killed, makes her more sympathetic. that’s at least what i’m getting from it.
I love the image of Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica bowling together. The way Freddy talks about the Pizzaplex always sounds like he comes from somewhere else (i.e. "At the Mega Pizzaplex..."). It always gave me the impression that he was, at least on some level, programmed to think he is the same Freddy that has always been the mascot at Freddy's. This would also help explain his freak out in the endo-warehouse. If there can be more of him, which is the original? I could also see Fazbear Entertainment doing that in some twisted version of Disneyland's rules about breaking immersion. Coupled with the customer profiles, you could walk into a Freddy's location anywhere and after any amount of time, get a "Welcome back, friend! Do you still like..." and feel like, especially to young children, this is the same Freddy I played with last time. And if you program the AI to use that information to subconsciously create false memories, that if the customer can "correct" if Freddy "misremembers," then the Freddy will also believe he is the same Freddy. If we apply the same to Bonnie and Chica since they are the only other ones left from the original band, you get three animatronics that think they've been friends for about 50 years. So even if the memories are false, the idea of three old friends that get still go bowling together is kind of cute. Sorry if that got a bit too fanfiction-y, but the way Freddy talks about the Pizzaplex has always stuck in my head since a friend pointed it out and my engineer brain threw that whole thing together. Great job on another great video. 👏
I aggre. To me it looks like company is making it all so real for their own benefit but for those animatronics it really is real. Freddy seems to care about everyone there, his relationship with Bonnie was very deep and now he's really experiencing grief. Others also were given life, personality traits, passion, ambitions to work better but it's all for corporations money
The message on the Mystery Mix, found in her room, said she attacked patrons and staff for it. And while I could wanna lean towards her being decent with guests, the staff bit is accurately reflected in HW2's pizza level. Also the maze controls do have a Helpy sign on getting lost: 'bring water'.
I have to think things are better at the pizzaplexes that don't have a rabbit infestation in their basement. Left to their own devices, people generally work up solutions to local problems. I can imagine a technician working up a rubber food prop that a Chica could chew on to help control her urges, or a little boxing room rigged up with old staff bot parts for Monty and Roxy to work out their anger. It just sucks that our Chica was trapped in a pizzaplex that's essentially a hollow shell just there to hide Henry's blast furnace. And the company couldn't even handle that right.
I still say the most disturbing thing in security breach is watching chica go from surprised by her being pushed, to anger until finally changing to a imo, desperation survival mode screaming and getting mashed its such a shift in power between pursuer and pursued. its so... its emotionally terrorizing
24:23 To add to this- Freddy says "are there more of me at other pizzarias?" (I can't spell forgive me) In that one voiceline where he questions his reality. OTHER pizzarias! There is a possibility that even if not a giant mall there are other locations around. More people should mention this! I never hear anyone bring it up.
Its possible her sentience took a legitimate hit after the virus got into her system, the last few strands of it being almost completely gone when Gregory stopped by. Its also worth noting that the rest of the bots, throughout most of Fazbear's history, did in-fact have personalities, even if they were coded in. At least as far back as FNAF 2, they used to be allowed to roam around and interact with the guests before the incidents occurred. Its just that Security Breach and AR are the first time we got to see those personalities for ourselves and interact with them. For Sister Location and Pizza Sim, the animatronics were actually possessed so their personalities and autonomy could be attributed specifically the spirits that possessed them. Ultimate Simulator on the other hand has the Cassidy torturing Afton, and I surmise the personalities of the animatronics are a mix of them being as they remembered them to be and their own influence. All of this is to say, of course, that FazBear Inc./Co. has a long history of neglecting their performers and staff members- humans and animatronics alike. And Glammrock Chica kinda just exemplifies the problem as well as Mangle in AR does... they all deserve so much better than the hand they got. I hope we get to see them get done by right in-world someday.
It's honestly so saddening how all of the animatronics end up(minus Glamrock Freddy). Considering that they apparently weren't even this bad to start off with, but rather were twisted into this via the Storyteller(assuming it's cannon to games) literally ALL it would've taken was for a single person to go in and undo or at least temper what it had done to them. Depending on how much/what is cannon it's honestly sad to see how they're all basically victims of what can be considered mind control. At no point in any of the games have we been able to see who they truly are/would be without external code forced upon them driving them from their original selves/programming into the monsters they are. And yes I'm calling the literal code to be basically mind control since it was something they didn't organically learn, it came from an outside(and specifically harmful intentions) and seemingly can't break free of, something that actual programming/mind control does to people.
I don't think Chica noticed the compactor being stopped by the metal pole, I think she simply heard a sound and took a moment to comprehend the fact that she heard something.
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 also she's good with guests since she helped a teenager with suicidal thoughts by allowing them to vent to her. she was praised for this in a message which is why we know this, so I think that she's sweet and is good at helping teens with their issues. She is really nice and her hunger makes her more inpatient and has poor inpuse control over it
Even with MatPat leaving, I grieve a little less knowing you’re still around. I love your videos so much, and a video on Glamrock Chica (one of my favorite animatronics) today got a lot better
I always liked Chica, and Glamrock Chica is sadly a zombie and a shell of her former self. She seemed so preppy, then dies with no dignity in a literal crappy bathroom.
Fun fact: in some areas where Chica spawns like B1, Fazerblast, Bonnie Bowl, Fazcade, etc, you can hear an odd moaning coming from her. This can be heard whether or not she's Shattered.
19:33 there’s a term for it, OSFED - other specified feeding or eating disorder (was once called EDNOS). having experience with eating disorders, glamrock chica became my favourite animatronic and i’m so glad she got more characterisation in help wanted 2
Man, Glamrock Chica got a really sad story. So focused on food that she didn't even care that it'd get her crushed in the end, and now she's left to wander, desperately trying to find something to eat before she collapses for good. Honestly, I think she might be my second favorite Glamrock next to Freddy. It may have taken her a bit to be properly fleshed out, but better late than never. Also, this is just me, but I find her more physically attractive than Roxy.
One thing that I always find myself both appreciating and being deeply frustrated by in security breach is just how many insanely compelling themes and ideas it puts forward that are just not focused on at all. Like that's always been the case for fnaf, but it's so much weirder to see in the new overtly narrative focused environment. The idea of a soulless corporation having control over sentient beings that they hold power over, used solely as entertainers in a fashion where the disregard the implications of what they've created? Or the idea of sentient creatures being left abandoned and rotting after being destroyed and left in their own wreckage, grappling with what they even are and what's happened to them? Like, obviously the games can't go super heavy and existential with it, they do want to make it just a fun scary game that can appeal to kids. But like... this series has always thrived in implication! Drop more implications! There so much fascinating stuff here!
Now what would've been cool was if SB DID take place over five nights and every night- or half a night- we tackled another one or two animatronics. Giving them their time to shine!
I liked Glamrock chica being the main animatronic we see in the trailer for SB, showing her shattered design telling the audience we would break the other animatronics, and the only one used in the ruin teaser poster to show she looks even worse. It was just always so weird that she had such a manic appetite like she’s a robot why is she actually eating food 😂 if she was built with a trash destroyer sure but that wasn’t wha she was capable of so eating garbage as her first introduction in the game was so wild😂. Her role in HW2 was pretty funny how she pushed the staffbots for their orders. All of her designs are great from her standard clean look, her shattered look is cool with all you hear from her is the static, and her ruin look was pretty gross but fits with her character.
I'm glad I'm not the only one wondering why she was programmed to "eat", I'm double glad I'm not the only one wondering how tf they get the food out of her. Like does she get taken to parts and services at the end of every night so she can get, "cleaned out?"
@@BrightWulph remember, the pizzaplex bots are pretty much the perfection of artificial intelligence and can and do end up developing their own quirks. Id assume chica's problems come from the fact that her character is pretty much synonymous with fazbear's pizza, and the ed like binging probably came around as chica's ai developed more and more.
I also think that with her and Freddy being the 2 'returning faces' in the Pizzaplex and them wearing the Glamrock prefix, that they, along with Bonnie and perchance a Foxy, had themselves a different bubble before Monty came in. From Freddy's perspective there's a drawing of just her around his mirror, and of his lines speaking to Gregory after upgrades, he instantly acknowledged the voicebox was hers, whereas Roxy's was slower to realize, and he just didn't with Monty. As for Bonnie, I thought perhaps similar to how their older selves were paired on opposite sides in FNAF 1, 2 and 4, that they'd have some bond, if her bowling ball and her spawning in the alley was a hint toward that. Plus there's also the 4AM choice between her and Monty (Bonnie's replacement) that I still somewhat wish could affect Ruin. As for the newcomers to SB, hard to say. She's paired with Roxy in a bunch of advertising as the other girl, but what would their dynamic be?
My interpretation of Chica going from a sweeter more bubbly persona to progressively more aggressive and demanding isn't that she's *lying* about being nice, but that she is being compelled beyond reasonable control into eating. Whether that's due to her normal programming or from outside influence like Vanny/Glitchtrap, I don't think it's a case of her being two-faced. You could even relate it to the theme of the eating disorder stuff with her drive (addiction/compulsion/whatever you want to theorize her disordered behavior is) being so strong it eclipses her normal self and is an influence she cannot break out of on her own. My personal belief is that these animatronics start off as their persona is advertised, they are programmed to be 'what's on the tin', but over time and through the neglect/mishandling/abuse of Fazbear Entertainment they are driven into the state of neuroticism we see in the games and that is just reinforced day after day. Which I suppose you could also liken to an eating disorder in which the disordered behavior is reinforced by things like social standards and peer pressure.
It's also possible that the virus amplified their negative character traits, making Monty more aggressive, Chica more ravenous and hungry, and Roxy more narcissistic and insecure. Most if not all of the notes we find are from when Vanessa was already working at the Pizza Plex, attempting to help Glitch Trap. The reason I bring this up is that their actions don't actually make sense for the evil only cares about profit company. We've seen first hand how much destruction Monty and Chica get up to on a nightly basis, destruction that has to be repaired by the time customers arrive in the morning. It would just seem far more in character for Faz Bear Entertainment to do something to prevent the massive repair costs being incurred, especially because it's shown they have very little hesitation to scrap the bots on a whim.
One of the few things i like about Security Breach was the transition from the Literal Ghosts in the machine to the metaphysical ones. I had a hunch chica's case was the eating disorder backed up by her original character being food related. Its also a subtle thing of corporate redesign changing with the times
I don’t know I still feel like theirs more to why they can think. Their might still be a supernatural aspect to them. I remember in the base game their being an odd drawing on a dry erase board, my first thought was a fuel source for something and the batteries were filled with odd green stuff. Vanessa is a brain washed killer and the only human in there at night, who know how deep she’s walking in Aftons footprints
Man. I love Glamrock Chica so much. In my fanfic I'm co-writing with a friend, we actually just replaced the management of Fazbear Entertainment off-screen. So Chica leads Mazercise herself and they turned it more into a yoga/workout place for parents who drop their kids off at the Daycare. (The pizzaplex does seem bigger and more fun if you interconnect the animatronics and attractions like this) I was so happy when I got Chica's beak to fix her, and was so sad when she died. I think I cried just because I was upset I might not see her again and she might not break free of her addictions. As someone with an eating disorder like hers, I related to Glamrock Chica right away, and I wanted her to find happiness and find help for her addictions. A compulsion she has when she's a robot and she can't even taste the food. She just has this need. She's a gaping black hole that just has to feed. It's a little silly, but I take comfort in the idea that Glamrock Chica inspires me to get better through my own struggles. So I hope we'll see her again one day. (ps. I associate the song "Sugar Crash" by Elyotto as her song. I recommend to give it a listen. My friend even made a cool animatic featuring glamrock chica with that song)
How does RUIN keep getting sadder and sadder. Every time you try to look at ruin and figure out something about it, it just gets more depressing. When I first played ruin, I was crying on the inside during the Roxy node moment like Cassie does after it. HW 2 manages make RUIN even sadder by basically saying that the mask bot was her father passing on the mask to her. Now we get the full picture of Chica and what her “death” basically meant. Ruin is so fucking sad but I wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s really no other way to have a game around a ruined pizza plex that isn’t sad. Steel Wool did a great job.
I'll be honest, that's one of the reasons why I love Fazbezar Entertainment in an "antagonist" sort of way. They don't do that stuff bc they have an eveil over-the-top scheme like Afton, which is a bit too cheesy to really take it as seriously as the games would want us to take. No instead, their end goal is just money. Clear, simple, yet source of exaggerated negligence that's just really fun to watch. I mean at this point they're basically just like Fazbear Entertainment in DSAF, "Sweep it under the rug, it's probably fine!" They're awful, I love it. A shame for Glamrock Chica tho. Also ngl I'm not that big of a fan of the valleygirl accent.
not a fan of the accent either. maybe if it was toned down a little bit it’d be more bearable but from the lines heard… yeah it would get on my nerves fast
I'd like to the point out Help Wanted's intro has a warning implying Fazbear Entertainment was well aware of Glitchtrap's existence in their VR experience, and knew he was capable of "digital consciousness transfer" I feel like when the Mimic storyline is done, the new Fnaf Arc should be Gregory, Freddy (his head) and Vanessa's maingoal to be taking down Fazbear Entertainment. This franchise has ruined their lives one way or another. The tragedies will keep happening if Fazbear Entertainment continues to stand.
That's why Afton isn't used right. As much as I dislike Squimpus as a person, I love his rewriting of the character and he would be so much better if he was treated more seriously ( the earlier games did that well until the books came out ) and not as a plot starting device, with an evil scientist-andIdkwhatelseanymore theme that doesn't fit him. A company letting a serial killer get away and be in charge is an interesting idea. Not to mention his messed up family life that is falling apart. I don't understand how can a character be so overused and underutilized at the same time. And the valley girl accent... Same, I prefer VR Chica's voice.
Yeah that's the thing. Fazbear Entertainment is neglectful, not evil. They allow horrible things to happen then cover them up, caring more about bad press than children under their care dying. That's why I liked the concept of Glitchtrap being Afton. Fazbear was so desperate to squeeze more money out of this franchise that they desecrated Henry's grave and accidentally revived a serial killer.
People tend to ignore one thing about the glamrocks. It is heavily implied that they were never "programmed". Sure they were probably made to be those characters, but likely through some form of teaching. This is heavily implied in SB during the endoskeleton daycare section. Where freddy even has a mental freakdown where he's like "What if I'm not the only freddy" and so on. The issues all 4 of them have weren't programmed, they just did that. Fazbear entertainment never wanted them to be compulsive eaters, violent, or depressed. Just they got those traits as they "grew up" or learned to be the characters they are. SB might be a bad game but god damn if it ain't putting up some unique scenarios to think about.
"Look, I've made artificial intelligence controlled animatronics! They've got personalities and everything! They're so quirky!" "You fucked up a perfectly good set of robots is what you did. Look at them. They have depression."
Hearing all this, now we really should’ve gotten a save the animatronics route. Would’ve gave Gregory more allies and a bigger family. But then ruin would’ve had a different story. It would be worth it to help all these animatronics who deserve the help just as much as anyone else.
Maybe the player could choose which animatronic they partnered up with at the beginning and then unlock a "save everyone" route after finishing the game with every companion.
That would’ve been honestly such a cute game, and then have ruin come back with them all attacking against Cassie would’ve been AWESOME !! because you know them as a bubbly sweet bots who just needed some fixing and now their back in their og state
It's actually interesting that her lines in FazerBlaster in Help Wanted 2 actually still have to do with food. If I remember correctly, she talks about being hungry and starving while "cooking" which is why you get the prompt to shoot at the stove top. During the train part, I think she yells at Foxy for stealing her dinner. I think the cutouts in Foxy's log ride also show her around/with food. Chica is portrayed as always eating/being around food in other attractions. It's so ingrained in her character that she (just from this game) doesn't have anything else to her character. As someone with an eating disorder, it really opens my eyes and hurts to see.
glam chica is my favourite sb animatronic (not including sun/moon), her design, her voice lines idk, there’s just something so lovable about her character, apart from toy chica, chica variations never really stood out to me until now, to me her programming being hijacked is the saddest, for roxy and monty it seems to fuel the worst aspects of them, but with chica there’s just nothing, you can hear sounds from her as if she’s crying, the idea she’s the only one who’s aware as to what’s going on but can’t do anything about it is so sad, she seems like such a bubbly and sweet character when not being hijacked by vanny lol, still wish we get to see the security breach characters when they function normally
One of the things I noticed regarding Chica during the gameplay of Security Breach is that, if you listen closely when she's nearby, you can hear her crying. Just goes to show how horrible Glitchtrap, Vanny, and, by extension, Fazbear Entertainment have treated her and the other Glamrocks. Makes me wish we got an ending where we got to save all of them.
I feel that Chica is really underrated. I love how she was left in with Freddy, whereas Bonnie and Foxy were replaced. I like how you talk about Chica too, most just sigh and move onto the ‘more important ones’ 😂
i cant help but notice the addiction motif in chica dying in the bathroom. if it was intentional to give her the same fate as other addicts, it was a good touch.
This video was so helpful of understanding Chica's character. Before this, I thought Chica was very bland and boring. I didn't see the details and environmental storytelling. But the fact that her one-note demeanor is BECAUSE of a lack of care from Fazbear Entertainment is a nice little story. Now, I actually feel bad for her. Great video!
Thank you so much for these character studies. I luv the glimpse we get of chica’s personality outside of her eating disorder that at least lets us know there’s something there regarding her fun-loving, entertainment/creative/artistic side with her guitar playing. I hope there’s a chance in the future to rebalance that dynamic for her character.
I used to binge like Chica due to a side effect from some meds and it took me years to figure out why. (Somehow eating out the garbage and literally stealing food any chance I got didn’t tip me off.) It’s hell tbh. An odd mix of having zero shame and yet feeling overwhelming disgust right after. My family did the same as Fazbear and resorted to hiding trigger foods but ofc I’d just find them and be rly careful of when/how much I’d eat and never got caught afaik. It takes up so much of ur time
Part of me feels like Chica was deprogramed to go into areas she wasn't supposed to be in(Garbage chute, Kitchen, certain halls ways, etc.) although the stuff like the Gator Mix, previous times she's eaten trash, and depending on how recent the lay offs of all the late night staff was might make my theory less solid.
Chica has been my favorite animatronic from the beginning since she always reminded me of a stuffed chicken toy I had as a child. I especially loved Glamrock Chica when I first saw her design reveal, and I was so excited to play Security Breach. Reading all of the notes about her insatiable appetite, hearing her constantly talk about food, and seeing her go absolutely feral for food to the point of ignoring her own self-preservation just broke my heart. I had to take a few minutes to cry after giving her voice box back in Ruin. I thought I was going to fix her like with Eclipse, but she was still just as broken as before, if not worse. Fazbear Entertainment failed her, and I sincerely hope that the next installment involves helping repair all of the Ruined animatronics. Sorry for the long comment, but Chica is to me what Roxy was to Cassie, or Freddy was to Gregory. She's my favorite and always will be.
Glamrock Chica has always been my personal favourite of the Glamrocks. Ever since Security Breach. Purely because I thought she was the creepiest of the bunch and how she moves like a zombie, without personality or without thinking. But now I think that, with context of HW 2, Chica's character has been saved. It's a story of an uphill battle that too many real life people face. Something that I myself face quite often. Whether you find yourself eating because you're just bored and what some kind of stimulating sensation or because you have this unending need to eat. Chica's story tells us of what can happen to even the sweetest and kindest of people if they receive no help from the people around them about how to overcome their desires which sometimes don't even feel like desires. To stop us before we ourselves become mindless zombies to our own hunger.
Hey, I know this is a bit old, but this-and Chica’s character-really spoke to me. First thing’s first: the ED Chica showcases and endorses is bulimia; I used to struggle with it in this exact way. Bulimia is generalized as a cycle of eating and purging through laxatives or vomiting, but it’s really just about getting rid of the food and calories you consumed. When I was younger I would feel the need to run after a meal or the need to earn my food, and the urge to burn off those calories, often before they even nourish the body. That’s a form of bulimia. Chica always spoke to me, even in FNaF 1, because she was a girl who actively promoted eating in a strictly positive way, one that’s simple and nonjudgmental. Seeing a woman completely content and happy with eating and enjoying things like pizza and cupcakes without negative connotation has always helped me a lot, especially because a lot of other media portrays women eating without restriction as gross or unhealthy, while Chica’s body is literally never mentioned. (I know that’s mostly bc she’s a robot but just- it helped me.)
I think it was Monty who wrecked Chica's bakery, not Chica herself, there's claw marks on the pipes/walls. As for Chica acting zombie like, we only see this long after the guests had left and the pizzaplex was closing(in fact it was after Vanessa alerts the others that we see Chica in that creepy state). I question how much of those character flaws, Monty's strong anger issues, Chica's food problem etc are meant to be there and how much is the virus.
I did notice the claw marks, but I've seen those in areas before, like in the basement. So, I think they might be like a stock asset- that is, whenever there's damage in an area, you're likely to see claw marks. If I recall, there's even some in the Daycare Attendant's loft.
It is interesting that Chica gets more aggressive as her vice consumes here. If you've been around an addict for a while, you may see them become the worst version of themselves when on or in need of their drug of choice, which includes food addicts. The same person can be very sweet and cheery at times and demanding and aggressive other times. Great video! ^^ Glamrock chica sure has a lot of character to her
As someone with an eating disorder myself, Glamrock Chica feels all the more tragic. Like a form of Ednos. (Eating disorder not otherwise specified.) Or BED (binge eating disorder.) Constantly ravenous, but not because she's actually hungry, But because her programming is telling her to. If she has the capacity to think freely, she's probably utterly miserable, even when she's seeking out more food she *knows* she doesn't want. Her need to be "fit" but her inability to say no to these programmed cravings. It almost makes me think that Chica was programmed this way. with the thought of "If kids see this almost sentient animatronic wolfing down so much food, theyll beg their parents to buy some. Because it must be good." One thing I wanted to mention as well was with her design. All of the other animatronics seems to have a body shape that makes sense. It flows, and looks natural enough to be believable. While chica's was always... off. Around the waistline, it has this use, unnatural looking dip. It makes me think of a corset or waist trainer, further suggesting the idea of body image issues.
in all seriousness eating a grotesque amount of food to feel some semblance of happiness fxckin sucks especially when thats the only vice that doesnt involve drvg usage to an addictiating degree, just saiyan
i'm so glad you mentioned that sharp "dip"! i thought i was the only one who noticed lol! it seems more "square"/artificial than roxy's, & though it would make sense for both characters to have issues with body image, it feels especially noticeable on chica
I like the theory but the dip is more likely to do with the FNAF franchise's tendency to oversexuallize literally all of their female characters, including the little girls. Like seriously, the whole freddy in space level where Chica is getting sexually harassed the entire time? The final boss fight being Foxy trying to grope her, or even worse? Wtf scott.
i feel like it also touches on notes of bulimia too? i used to be bulimic (am mostly alright now after an absolutely miserable recovery journey but hey i’m still here) and the whole “eat and then exercise/exercise AND eat” rinse and repeat that she has going on really really reminds me of the binge/purge cycles that bulimics struggle with. (bulimia is typically associated with vomiting after eating as a form of purging but afaik the DSM-5 counts exercise as purging also) and honestly i remember playing security breach and being absolutely HORRIFIED at mazercise and fazbear entertainment as a whole for not only 1. instilling this brutal cycle in chica but 2. glamourising it for their CHILDREN customers as a way to make money??.?.!.!.??. idk but she’s always been my fav of the steel wool era and her story resonates so much with the most miserable point of my life and i want to hug her so badly :(
Glamrock Chica has been my all time favorite character ever since she was teased and her design was shown, I felt really bad for Glamrock Chica in security breach, you can hear her crying in some parts of the game and during ruin I feel so horrible for her
Sammy Emily: That was Dawko’s idea not mine. I didn’t even want this pizzaplex to exist because it may get corrupted by outside forces or get destroyed from within. All because he wanted to “entertain children and give them a fun “””magical””” place to enjoy.” His words not mine. Most of what was there was his idea, including ALL of the animatronics. Anyways, I was proven right… again
Their original intention was probably "Chica should be a role model for girls, so we should give her the ability to eat and a love for food so girls buy more of our snacks". But the programming failed and no one bothered to fix it.
they shouldve made Chica about toxic beauty standards, not Roxy tbh. while i enjoy Roxy’s character, its a little odd that the character who talks like “i NEED to be fit!” “Eat low calories!” “Over-Exercise!” isnt the one concerned about her image.
Agreed, plus Chica's design would suit the beauty theme better since she's more "girly" than Roxy. Imo Roxy could work better if her vice was about being held to unrealistic standards (hence why she always needs to "win" and be the best etc)
21:27-22:05 the way you put it, accompanied then by Chica's ruined form, made my blood run cold. hooooly thank you so much for the video and for the attention to the problem. as someone whos struggling with disordered eating (?), seeing the way Chica all but gets drowned into the binging and disordered behaviour more and more makes me wanna bawl my eyes out
I wonder if Chica’s obsession with food could explain her lack of personality. When someone is obsessed with something it can eat away at their personality, and look at her through the game. At first, she’s doing what she was ordered to, looking for Gregory, and even sounds like she wants to help, though it might be a trick, but eventually she does give in and starts to indulge in her addiction. This addictions take up all of her attention, she almost doesn’t notice anything outside of the eating and eventually that leads to her only being able/willing to indulge.
One thing from Help Wanted 2 that stood out to me was the endo daycare memory game. Yeah it's a memory game but ultimately the fazbear technician is teaching these new endos how to be social and interact with people. I was thinking maybe this is how the Glamrocks got their personalities? Picking up little bits and quirks from several technicians over time and that's how they've come to have unique self esteems, habits, priorities and issues. It can explain why the staff try to work around Chica's problems instead of fixing the issue itself - because it's not a technical fix, it's a behavioral one that was taught
Thanks for finally addressing just how outright horrible Fazbear Entertainment actually is. It's so easy to laugh off their antics as "amusingly inept" and pin the actual horrible things on William, but William basically had an open door to do everything he did with Fazbear casually covering everything up constantly to maintain a good image instead of outing him as they should have done. Vanessa doesn't appear to be doing anything out of the ordinary for the staff and her callous handling of Freddy shows just how they have zero consideration for the condition of the animatronics, despite how much life and personality they have in them. Glam Chica really does show how bad it gets. Freddy got his "happy ending" and even Roxy potentially has a happy end, so I feel it's only fair that there is one more person who goes into the Pizzaplex to give Chica the repair she needed... the one that will actually make her satisfied.
her story is so sad that it literally brings me near tears but i think what makes it worse is that she's so very close to human. the glamrocks are shown to have personalities and other human traits but they're not human enough to have their own autonomy. chica couldn't change if she wanted to--neither could roxanne or monty--because their programming restricts them from being human enough to change these things about themselves. they're sentient and yet they don't get to make their own paths. poor guys
as someone with a eating disorder (just the opposite of what Chica has) I honestly sort of just feel bad for Chica, eating too much food can be bad and she cannot really do anything about it because the higher ups don't do anything to stop this, then again Chica is the main thorn in the Pizza-Plex's food side
An interesting detail given in HW2 is that the Glamrock Endos aren’t just programmed with their personalities. The Endos have to be *taught* how to be the characters, like an actor learning a role rather than just plugging in the “Freddy Personality Chip” and hey presto you have a new GL Freddy. I think this also insinuates that every iteration of the GL animatronic is different and will have a slightly different personality, no 2 Freddys will be the same, no 2 Chicas will be the same. And I think this also explains why they had to replace Bonnie with Monty instead of just getting another Bonnie. It’ll take a lot of time to teach a new Endo how to be Bonnie so they had to make up an excuse as to why he was gone and Monty was there. It’s not as simple as slapping a Bonnie shell on an Endo and be done with it. In the grand scheme of things it’s probably not that important. I just think it’s really interesting.
Exactly, the endos are basically actors that are gaslit into believing they are fictional characters, which is a really interesting angle/concept to me. Especially if you think about the implied closeness of Freddy and Bonnie, its like a relationship between the actors, not necessarily the characters according to "Fazbear Canon"
I really hope they revisit this piece of worldbuilding in the future bc that's both fascinating and tragic. Also makes me feel bad for that one harmless endo you could meet in fnaf 2.
My only issue with that detail is that why would they have all those spare endoskeletons lying around if not for that exact purpose? Even if one animatronic doesn't get broken by another, there are multiple other ways one can malfunction; overheating, foreign body related accidents, simply falling off too high a platform. Why would they still go ahead with replacing Bonnie when they had all the tools at their disposal to much make a new one from scratch? Sure it would take a lot of time to teach a new Endo, but surely not any more time or money than it would take to give the entire Pizzaplex a green coat of paint and to remove all of Bonnie's memorabilia. The Pizzaplex's second-biggest headliner is gone, they have the tools and materials to make a new one, and yet they take the most convoluted route to solve the problem. That kinda seems out of character for the "slap some duct tape on it" Fazbear Entertainment. If anything, it may have been interesting to see a scenario of characters being replaced with copies set back to factory settings and seeing the horrors of the others trying to comprehend that, and coming to grips with the fact that they are indeed expendable. Though as a side note, the only time I can see Fazbear Entertainment going out of its way to erase a character from the public, is when said character causes a fatal accident; like Fredbear and the Bite of '83. He was never seen again in the public eye after that.
Fazbear Entertainment created life, abused it, neglected it, then when convenient, abandoned it to die in its vices. And the worst part is that Glamrock Chica is just _one_ example.
7:17 I swear there was a poster telling parents that, if their kid get lost in the maze, make sure that they have plenty of food and water, as of course Fazbear Entertainment doesn't care. They probably have in the traning video for Mazersize Employees "If a child is lost in the maze, tell the parents that you need to search for the child in the maze, and not move the maze pattern until the child and parents are out." We all know that Fazbear Entertainment has a history for not maintaining child saftey.
I just had a thought, based on eclipse's reaction whe you reset them in ruin it seems the gla rocks dont know what happened so they are all just waiting for the pizzaplex to open up again, to be used.
Your question at 18:40 "Is she eating the food or just launching it" I've played the game for streaming several times and even spent the majority of my last one on this exact level. Yes she's eating it. I'm not sure if it shows up on videos but while she's making eating noises you can see food particles flying around above her.
Glamrock Chica is my favourite design of security breach, and one of my favourite underrated characters, I’m so glad she’s finally getting some of the recognition she deserves! And you’re definitely bringing up some really good points with her overall character, as always!
Her walk cycle always led me to believe she was far more interested in eating than finding Gregory. She stumbles around like a zombie, compared to the more aggressive stances Roxy and Monty take. Her dialogue also came off as more aloof and distant, like she has to be seen making an effort to find Gregory but would much rather eat. It's a shame, Chica seems to always get the short-end of the stick in this franchise. Even in the FNAF movie, the Cupcake was doing more than Chica was. Her shattering also seemed the most cruel as there's no real plausible deniability around it like with Monty and Roxy. Still, FazEnt just chooses to ignore anything that's an issue, even if said issue would just incur more costs later down the line. Makes me wonder why the games are still focused on child murderers and killer robots when FazEnt is clearly a much bigger danger for allowing it all to happen.
Fun Faz fact: sometimes when Chica is standing idle, she’ll simply start crying while twitching. She doesn’t move when crying but you can hear her cries echo through the halls
I still go by my headcanon that Chica is an allegory of a drug addict- inspired by something I read a WHILE ago that someone explained that the glamrocks are taking each a trope of esterotypical messy rock bands. it's weird i know, but i just imagined that when she's in a good mood it's bc she's having a "sugar rush" if you will- basically, having a euphoria or manic episode and she then gets cranky reaaal quick. To me that sounds like an allegory, pretty sure (im not the only one who thinks this, cmon- let's face it, she does coke)
it's a little annoying how they decided to give freddy and roxy well thought out personalities and storylines while chica and monty were just sidelined in that department. they put a lot of effort into freddy and roxy's character arcs and then they were like "so chica will end up eating trash and monty will eventually destroy himself. ok, we're done!"
I think the valley girl voice lines would've been super cool to hear in the final game. I don't think it's terrible that they changed it because Chica's final voice was still good but it was a cool concept.
I would like to point out something i saw on a video that seems pretty interesting, apparently in both ruin and SB, chica is constantly making a very quiet... crying sound. A theory is that chica is actually fighting against the influence of the glitchtrap virus and that the reason she is acting like a zombie and constantly twitching, while the other anamatronics arent is because she is trying to fight back more than the others, we know that the virus enhances the worst parts of the glamrocks personalities, which is why she is so hungry, her eating disorder still existed, but it wasnt as out of control as we see now, it also gets worse when you realise that if chica does care about freddy as suggested in the intro, it could be that she was one of the nicer of the glamrocks before the virus, which is why she is so good at playing instruments and rushes to frddy immediately, she is genuinly kind, but the virus caused her urges to go out of control and she cant fight the influence of the virus, she doesnt want to hurt people, she was one of the more caring people, but cant help but watch as she sees herself devolve into this husk of herself, as well as hurting people, as well as children. Chica mightve cared much more, but the virus influenced them into an overdrive, causing her hunger disorder to grow out of control, and she cant stop it from getting worse no matter how hard she fights. Her disorder got worse because she literally and figuratively "couldnt control herself".
Just thought about this... Chica in her broken state especially is a literal "eating with no calories or guilt" because it falls right out of her. That's kind of sad. What's an even sadder state is she's given a personality with a eating disorder with an animatronic body she literally cannot change the shape of if she wanted to
16:50 I noticed how she gets really desperate when *acknowledging* the hunger, but she's almost immediately sweet- and it almost sounds a little guilty/apologetic when she finishes her question. Almost like she knows she's being a bit snappy, and feels bad, but also knows that she needs food and that she can't risk being patient.

Since the food falls out of her almost immediately in her ruined form, theres a chance that the sensors cant find it, so she cant even satisfy her intense hunger. Shes always starving, and she cant fix it.
That makes it soo much worse
(Edit): like imagine being in constant unstable pain and hunger but even though you're eating it won't stop and it just gets progressively worse so bad that you don't even flinch when the skin of your arm and face begin to fall off due to the maltreatment of your body maybe it didn't even fall off maybe you where so hungry you ate the only thing around *you*. Yeah omg...
Tbh I don't think they were programmed with those issues, so much as those issues came from the way they were programmed.
They were programmed w/ personalities, thoughts, and feelings, and them being mistreated by Fazbear Entertainment made them develop these issues
Like, I don't think they programmed Roxy for example to have insecurities. But the personality they gave her would inevitably lead to insecurities if she was made to feel like she wasn't "the best"
It’s wild when you consider Chica and Freddy are what’s kinda left from the older cast. It’s probably what makes them close.
Also where I'd group Bonnie with them, like FNAF 1
Chica and Freddy both have a bowling ball in their rooms so they both missed Bonnie
@@featdirty1127 I am a firm trans roxy believer just because it fits with her so well
Also the bowling detail.

@@semmie814 Yeah I was never aware of the similarities of both addictions in this regard until I started reading more comments.
Personally, I think it's great symbolism, if intentional. It's not so in your face, not outright saying "hey, she died of an eating disorder, isn't that fucked up?" But just. There. In a way most people don't notice.

The 80's aesthetic and its history of drug use would line up with this perfectly- but I don't trust FNaF's writing to do something this cool

@lilacpenguin5329 That honestly makes a lot of sense. Maybe after a while it became so ingrained into her coding that it because part of her personality.
For real life
honestly hella creative on her end, smart robot!
My uncle worked in the music business, and the real rock stars led lives that were very self-destructive. All that fame can really get to someone.

I’ve had an eating disorder (extreme anorexia) for over 6 years now and have been trying to get better so seeing a character go through the same thing I have, even if it isn’t explicitly stated, it’s kinda nice.

the animatronics issues started to be recorded after bonnie disappeared. eating disorders, self esteem issues and poor anger management are all signs of trauma. freddy's chronic optimism could be a coping mechanism because he thought he went through the worst thing possible and things could only get better.
im glad more people are realising how tragic glamrock chica is.
Her guitar was probably some of the last of her old personality she could hold onto after years under her messed up programming
It’ll likely happen as a possibility future protagonist will shut them down forever possibly by exposing the truth of the companies history

I always found it weird how Chica its massive amounts of food and garbage without taking damage.
She has a garbage bag inside her that serves as a makeshift stomach so there you go I guess
i mean she technically does because in one of the security breach messages it stated that the maintenance costs after chica eating trash is expensive, and i guess chica got in this state in ruin by destroying herself if there’s nobody who repairs her
oh shoving food into herself without any way to grind down/destroy it was definitely ruining her internal mainframe
especially if whatever she shoves down her gizzard contains liquid, electronics and liquid don't mix (granted, the glamrock cast may be water resistant, considering monty can swim while being basically half of a endoskeleton)
the fact she can even boot up and stay powered for a short amt of time in ruin if we take her eating related damage is surprising at minimal
@@lilacpenguin5329if there’s any lore that could possibly be gleaned from this, it’s that Monty is the only completely original character in the main band and as such, he had to have a completely new AI created for him in a short period of time to replace Bonnie (and as we know, Fazbear Ent. is notorious for cutting corners and taking shortcuts so it’s no wonder he’s a complete wreck in personality and therefore can’t be built upon)
For writing reasons it’s probably because he was the least popular character irl.

It also makes Bonnie dying 10x sadder.
Exactly. I think of the other Pizzerias and how they are, as well.
I still say the most disturbing thing in security breach is watching chica go from surprised by her being pushed, to anger until finally changing to a imo, desperation survival mode screaming and getting mashed its such a shift in power between pursuer and pursued. its so... its emotionally terrorizing
24:23
To add to this- Freddy says "are there more of me at other pizzarias?" (I can't spell forgive me) In that one voiceline where he questions his reality.
Glamrock chica is so underrated, I do feel they at least could’ve given her more character instead of just “Eating Disorder”
Definitely feel like this one thinks a bit too hard on this. Some of these conclusions aren't entirely held up by what we're given.

@notrealnamenotatall2476 oh I had never even considered that, but absolutely! That sounds like it could've been perfect!
Their dynamic would probably be something like Sam and Cat. The girly girl and the aggressive tomboy.
Yeah she definitely should host Mazercise.
I mean at this point they're basically just like Fazbear Entertainment in DSAF, "Sweep it under the rug, it's probably fine!"
They're awful, I love it. A shame for Glamrock Chica tho.
Also ngl I'm not that big of a fan of the valleygirl accent.
not a fan of the accent either. maybe if it was toned down a little bit it’d be more bearable but from the lines heard… yeah it would get on my nerves fast
I'd like to the point out Help Wanted's intro has a warning implying Fazbear Entertainment was well aware of Glitchtrap's existence in their VR experience, and knew he was capable of "digital consciousness transfer"
I feel like when the Mimic storyline is done, the new Fnaf Arc should be Gregory, Freddy (his head) and Vanessa's maingoal to be taking down Fazbear Entertainment. This franchise has ruined their lives one way or another. The tragedies will keep happening if Fazbear Entertainment continues to stand.
It's also a bit distasteful too, and I feel like corporations are susceptible to that also.
I like Glamrock Chicas design.
She looks like a improvement of fun time chica.
Though withered Chicas design is definitely my favorite Chica design.
Withered Chica is the scariest animatronic in the series imo
Withered Chica is the reason I won't play FNAF2
They're so quirky!"
"You fucked up a perfectly good set of robots is what you did. Look at them. They have depression."
Poor Chica. She deserved so much more but was wasted and the fans don't even give her a chance
How was she wasted? She at least had a lot of screentime in Help Wanted 2
dang, you gave her more character than SB did.
also if the bathroom scene was intentional, i love hate it.
@@error-try-again-later that would have been awesome. Different each time you play
Imagine having to work out without the satisfaction of eating something afterwards
Almost all the glamrocks resemble Frankensteins monster they have personalities and they have the ability to have feelings but are not cared for
I used to binge like Chica due to a side effect from some meds and it took me years to figure out why. (Somehow eating out the garbage and literally stealing food any chance I got didn’t tip me off.)
It’s hell tbh.
And I still don't think Chica dies in the bathroom, would make Cassie replacing her voice box very pointless.
I did notice the claw marks, but I've seen those in areas before, like in the basement. So, I think they might be like a stock asset- that is, whenever there's damage in an area, you're likely to see claw marks. If I recall, there's even some in the Daycare Attendant's loft.
Monty expressing his displeasure at his absence in the game in a calm, collected manner:
Giving Chica her new voice box feels extremely pointless because it goes nowhere in Ruin.
@@justsomerandomperson6506 I think that's the point in a sad way
6:00 “We do see something concerning in the bakery, that creepy cupcake”
All of the Chica iterations are so relatable to me, she's definetly one of my favourite comfort characters ♡
Because it must be good."
One thing I wanted to mention as well was with her design. All of the other animatronics seems to have a body shape that makes sense. It flows, and looks natural enough to be believable. While chica's was always... off. Around the waistline, it has this use, unnatural looking dip. It makes me think of a corset or waist trainer, further suggesting the idea of body image issues.
nah devs knew what the fans like nothing more
in all seriousness eating a grotesque amount of food to feel some semblance of happiness fxckin sucks especially when thats the only vice that doesnt involve drvg usage to an addictiating degree, just saiyan
i'm so glad you mentioned that sharp "dip"! i thought i was the only one who noticed lol! it seems more "square"/artificial than roxy's, & though it would make sense for both characters to have issues with body image, it feels especially noticeable on chica
(bulimia is typically associated with vomiting after eating as a form of purging but afaik the DSM-5 counts exercise as purging also) and honestly i remember playing security breach and being absolutely HORRIFIED at mazercise and fazbear entertainment as a whole for not only 1. instilling this brutal cycle in chica but 2. glamourising it for their CHILDREN customers as a way to make money??.?.!.!.??. idk but she’s always been my fav of the steel wool era and her story resonates so much with the most miserable point of my life and i want to hug her so badly :(
“After Sun pulled the ban hammer” got me 🤣
*Gregory was hit by Sun's banhammer*
Glamrock Chica has been my all time favorite character ever since she was teased and her design was shown, I felt really bad for Glamrock Chica in security breach, you can hear her crying in some parts of the game and during ruin I feel so horrible for her
Seriously, whoever in Fazbear Inc. Decided it was a good idea to give the robot for children an eating disorder needs to be fired
If Fazbear Entertainment fired people who should be fired and kept those who didn't, would we even have a series?
Their original intention was probably "Chica should be a role model for girls, so we should give her the ability to eat and a love for food so girls buy more of our snacks". But the programming failed and no one bothered to fix it.
@@mill2712 good point there
they shouldve made Chica about toxic beauty standards, not Roxy tbh. while i enjoy Roxy’s character, its a little odd that the character who talks like “i NEED to be fit!” “Eat low calories!” “Over-Exercise!” isnt the one concerned about her image.
Agreed, plus Chica's design would suit the beauty theme better since she's more "girly" than Roxy. Imo Roxy could work better if her vice was about being held to unrealistic standards (hence why she always needs to "win" and be the best etc)
@@error-try-again-later Chica could've been about unrealistic beauty standards, whereas Roxy was about unrealistic expectations for success.
21:27-22:05 the way you put it, accompanied then by Chica's ruined form, made my blood run cold. hooooly
thank you so much for the video and for the attention to the problem. as someone whos struggling with disordered eating (?), seeing the way Chica all but gets drowned into the binging and disordered behaviour more and more makes me wanna bawl my eyes out
I wonder if Chica’s obsession with food could explain her lack of personality.
Glamrock Chica deserved better:(
Yee.
13:10 small détail but her head was always able to spin around, in the shattering cutscene she does just that as the compactor activates
her story is so sad that it literally brings me near tears but i think what makes it worse is that she's so very close to human. the glamrocks are shown to have personalities and other human traits but they're not human enough to have their own autonomy. chica couldn't change if she wanted to--neither could roxanne or monty--because their programming restricts them from being human enough to change these things about themselves. they're sentient and yet they don't get to make their own paths. poor guys
as someone with a eating disorder (just the opposite of what Chica has) I honestly sort of just feel bad for Chica, eating too much food can be bad and she cannot really do anything about it because the higher ups don't do anything to stop this, then again Chica is the main thorn in the Pizza-Plex's food side
And the worst part is that Glamrock Chica is just _one_ example.
i feel so bad for her i understand what it's like finding comfort in food but how quickly it can turn into a never ending hunger.
They basically programmed her with a genuinely insatiable appetite, which is horrifically cruel
To me that sounds like an allegory, pretty sure
(im not the only one who thinks this, cmon- let's face it, she does coke)
Love Glamrock Chica's design and personality. Really wish she had more lines or a cutscene. Thanks for for the videos.
it's a little annoying how they decided to give freddy and roxy well thought out personalities and storylines while chica and monty were just sidelined in that department. they put a lot of effort into freddy and roxy's character arcs and then they were like "so chica will end up eating trash and monty will eventually destroy himself. ok, we're done!"
I think the valley girl voice lines would've been super cool to hear in the final game. I don't think it's terrible that they changed it because Chica's final voice was still good but it was a cool concept.
8:53 these voice lines slay💅💅💅💅
A classic story of a rockstar lost to addiction and dying in a bathroom.
