I don't know the riders,I don't know the teams, but I watch this race every year. Blood, sweat, tears, crashes, drama, drugs, endurance, and some of the best scenery in the world.
@nicknick1963 I truly recommend Netflix series about Tour de France. There is 2 seasons so far: TdF 2022 and TdF 2023. They introduce teams and riders pretty well and share some insides from the team buses and hotel rooms. I watched it as a total noob and now I'm all over the tour this year 😊
I expect Bettiol to have the greatest motivation to win today, along with fantastic form on a stage to suit him. I'm sure he will have been dreaming of the win in front of his home fans...indeed it's an extremely special day for all Italian riders & many will be motivated to do their absolute best. Can't wait. P.s Guy...what about a poll asking how much of this stage & others people will be watching live/have watched? Eg: 1) who watches the whole stage live? 2) much of it, but not all? 3) the last hour or so? 4) highlights only?
Yes, it all depends on how Tadej will set the stage. If he wants a hard stage, all the GC guys will fight then little possibilities for riders like Bettiol. If Tadej decides a conservative race (mmm... Tadej always wants to attack EVEN WHEN USELESS) then Bettiol is a nice name to win.
As always tysm for your work and those videos ! Which jersey does Alberto prefer ? National champion or yellow ? Why choose when you can wear both in the TDF 🤪 I'd love to see Healy try in the hills but as long as Bettiol is in the team I'm not sure he will atack. Healy not being Healy :( Also if Soler manages to be in the group in the final I think he'll try something, or Almeida. Not sure Matthews is strong enough to be in the final today. I like Aranburu but there will be stronger sprinters, he must arrive alone.. I'm with you on Gee; there's also Williams they both can do well tomorrow for sure So I'll go on : 🥇Bettiol 🥈Van Gils 🥉Pidcock
My pleasure, and THANK YOU for sharing your thoughts as well. Healy in the attack and Bettiol following wheels behind could be an option for EF - I've not considered the other UAE riders yet, but I agree with you it could be an option - Gee was a machine in the Dauphiné, having a bet out on him as well, how cool would it be to see him take yellow - ENJOY
Bettiol is a good bet for the podium for this stage. Do you see other stages that suit Bettiol? Do you see other stages for him? I am not planning on picking him for my team because I don’t see another stage for him. What do you think?
Not really ey, in my book, this is the one, if the gradients on stage 2 would be slightly less, I would also consider, ... that being said, I really do think that national champ jersey on home soil will give him an extra
Remco is at his very very leanest for Le Tour & it'll be extremely interesting to see how he goes today. Normally speaking, he's a just little off the best climbers over such climbs, but with him slimming down to his leanest ever...he can't be dismissed.
@@CyclingGuy I would totally agree with you Guy, yet in an interview on Thursday, he stated that the 'we' the team will be doing all we can to get stage wins...from the first stage, to the last. It was a confident thing to say, especially from Remco, as he is usually very measured in interviews. I'm 50/50 of what to make if it...what's your thoughts?
@@keepitreal1547 🤔I was traveling for work, thanks for sharing that interview - sounds to me like a: 'I'm here for stage wins not GC cover up' - while I don't think that's thru (till the point he would actually drop out of contention), ... in my book, the better he is, the more invisible he should try to be
I absolutely love WVA, yet he could not convince me in the Belgian champs, he was hanging on for dear life and it was nowhere near as hard as this stage - OK, I agree, he just came off the mountain, yet still, ... as usual, I hope he proves me wrong
As a former rider, it's difficult to lose weight in a relatively short time without losing strength. Mads has done exactly that, indeed he looks like a pure climber now. I really hope he has maintained strength & that weight loss enables him to achieve his goals
He looks super sharp and indicated to be feeling well, ... most people seem to think it will be too hard for him, ... could be, yet I'm expecting him in the mix as well - I've spread my bets over non riders and MVDP is one of them 🤞

great analysis !
Quite fitting - and even though it will probably go a different way, it would be a plausible outcome for sure !
Cheers! There's always more chances it will go a different way - that's what makes this so interesting to me - enjoy the stage

ive changed my mind a bit and its gonna be like 35 degress heat. I think UAE do have to try and smash the first stage and not play nice

Why is everyone sleeping on Laurance? I reckon he'll do better on the climbs than MVDP, and he does have a significant punch/sprint
Not unlikely, would be great to see him come of age on the biggest cycling stage of them all
👍👍👍👍👍
I think uae will send joao as a satellite in the break and if jonas doesnt react uae will let joao finish the stage with a possible win.
Ohhh, I like that one! Enjoy!
Mads Pedersen is winning in from the small peleton
I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention Evenepoel.
This stage seems taylormade for him.

EF got stage 1 by Italian National Road Champ or Powless goes for polkadot jersey. Go EF
It's a stage that suits Powless really well, I agree
Oof, no love for WVA! I think if he is at the finish with a bunch that does not contain the likes of Pedersen, he can win it.
