My favorite part about 95% of the comments on this video is the fact that NONE of them actually watched the video. They just saw the title, couldn't comprehend it, and then attacked. You really shouldn't comment on things you haven't watched and therefore do not understand. Incredible.
He did not address the main point. It has nothing to do with messiah because 9:24 says it is for the "People" and the "City" to perform...NOT an individual. It is a collective task...not a messianic task.
@@blasater Thats not really in the text. It seems to be a preface explaining the scope of the prophecy. It is about the people and the city....it doesnt say it is performed by the people and the city.

I have to admit, as a Christian, I have never gotten my head around the books of the prophets and have avoided them and kind of feel like I'd need to spend the next half of my life studying them to catch the surface of understanding them.

Dr Brown nails it. Jews can nitpick over this verse and that all day long, but ultimately if Daniel's timeline ends with the destruction of the second temple, then they're left with the burden of explaining away what is meant by the one who was like a son of man having an everlasting divine authority that will replace the kingdoms of Earth and who will be worshipped by all nations and in all languages.....
Just look at how history has played out. It can only be a reference to Jesus and the church founded by his followers.
The Timeline of Daniel ends in 34AD fall...This is the rendering of the very moment that the 70th week ended...and so too probation for the Jewish nation.

They now have the very same chance we have of being grafted BACK into that olive tree called JESUA CHRIST...
ISRAEL is the "a son of man" in Daniel 7;13...read Daniel 7;27!

I suggest you change the word “Jews” to “Orthodox Jews” or “religious Jews”, or “counter-missionaries.” Because:
1. Dr. Brown is a Jew.
2. When a Jew believes in the Jewish Messiah, Jesus, he remains a Jew, not “converted to Christianity” and “no longer a Jew”.
3. Salvation was “to the Jew first” (Romans 1:16) It’s the Gentiles that are grafted into the Jewish new covenant, not the other way round.
4. God has a plan to bring all Jewish people into the knowledge of the Messiah and bring Israel into their full purpose and calling. Which is exactly why Dr. Brown is doing these videos. Not to “tell Jews how wrong they are,” but to help them recognise the Messiah!
faith in Christ is pagan idolatry. It's all over the old testament. Deuteronomy 12:32-13:18 says it pretty clearly. Why do you need the blood of a human sacrifice when all god wants is our obedience? Psalm 51:16-17 god doesn't accept vicarious atonement and only you can make up for your sins Deuteronomy 24:16. There is one god and he is not man. And there is no savior Isaiah 43:11 Numbers 23:19 Zechariah 8:23

The 70 week prophecy began in 457 B.C. with the going forth of the commandment of Artaxerxes Longimanus. Jesus was anointed at the time of his baptism 69 weeks later (483 literal years) in 27 A.D. He was crucified in the midst of the 70th week in 31 A.D. Then Stephen was stoned and the gospel began to be preached to the gentiles in 34 A. D. After Jesus was baptized he preached "The time is fulfilled" referring to this prophecy.

I’m still trying to figure this out solely from a biblical perspective. However, Daniel 9:25 says that the from the going forth of the word to the coming of the anointed one shall be seven weeks....(which is only 49 years). 457 - 49 = 408BC. ?

The prophecy speaks of seventy weeks to accomplish all that is listed, not 69 (7+62). The last week (7 years) is the time of Jacobs trouble in which God will deal with the Jewish nation to bring them to accept the Messiah they rejected.
"Rabbi Maimonides, the preeminent medieval Jewish philosopher and one of the greatest Torah scholars of the Middle Ages, said this about Daniel 9:24-27 - "Daniel has made known to us the knowledge of the end times.
However, since they are secret, the wise rabbis have barred the calculation of the days of Messiah's coming so that the untutored populace will not be led astray when they see that the End Times have already come but there is no sign of the Messiah" (Igeret Teiman,Chapter 3 p.24.)
Apparently, Maimonides believed that Daniel did accurately predict in advance events related to the "end times," including the date of the coming of the Messiah, but believed that they were "secret," or not understandable, and thus believed it best that the rabbis not teach Daniel chapter nine to their congregants lest they be dismayed if they believed they saw these events happening and the Messiah did not appear. A Sage said: "May the curse of heaven fall upon those who calculate the date of the advent of the Messiah, and thus create political and social unrest among the people."( Sanhedrin, 97b.)
What rabbis are going to read and give credence to Paul's writings, like Romans and 2nd Thessalonians Chapter 2, as well as the rest of the New Testament? Therefore it plays into God's plan that most of the Jews will not realize that Jesus was the Messiah until well into the final tribulation period. Blindness in part will come on Israel until the full number of gentiles come in. Paraphrasing I'm sure.

@@ts8960 The 69 weeks of Daniel coincide with the exact date of the Messiah being cut-off or there is no Messiah. The 70th week has not occured yet but we will probably see at least the start of it soon and with that the building of the third temple. Pretty simple and straight forward.

Paul already explained all this, or the Holy Spirit of God working through Paul.
Singer knows the Truth, but he is a Judas goat, who continues the same old lies told by the Jewish leaders of Jesus’ day. Singer contorts himself to take our attention from Christ, but Only Jesus Christ fulfills the prophecies.
The issue was, after Ezra reformed Yahweh religion to monotheist Judaism, they suppressed polytheist content. For instance; Deut 32:8-9. In Daniel 9:24, for example, who on this earth beside Yahweh dares to claim they can do it, name one? Those who dares is directly attacking Yahweh deity.

Nothing in 9:24 was accomplished by "thy" people accept the Tanakh was sealed up and no more prophets 7 weeks after the decree was issued to Nehemiah in 454 BC. From 405 BC no more vision or prophecy was created, known as the 400 silent years. The consummation can only be the 70th week which is after the holy city was made desolate. Last time I checked the Holy City and Thy People still have alot of prophecy sill not determined.

The 69 sevens has been determined in many writings down to the day. You can find it if you search for it.
@@robertbrown7470 Joshua 3:4 is the about 2000 cubit of years between the first Testimony of the "Ark" passing the children of Israel aka 1st visitation of CHRIST. The gap between the ✝️and the second coming is about 2000 years as we speak. 2031 will be 2000 years exactly. The 70th week is soon to be fulfilled.

Based on Hebrews 9:15 and Hebrews 12:22-24, the Messiah’s death in Daniel 9:26 cannot be separated from the New Covenant fulfilled by His blood at Calvary.
Are we supposed to believe the angel Gabriel appeared to Daniel to reveal the timeline of the Messiah who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34, and then the angel failed to even mention the New Covenant. Or, is the covenant with the many in Daniel 9:27 the same covenant with the many in Matthew 26:28? The 1599 Geneva Bible is the Bible the Pilgrims brought to America, before John Darby showed up on our shores about the time of the Civil War. What was the earlier understanding of Daniel 9:27 found below in the notes of the 1599 Geneva Bible?

During recent years many New Covenant scholars have examined Daniel chapter 9 from a New Covenant perspective. Did Christ fulfill the summary found in Daniel 9:24? Is it about the New Covenant fulfilled by the blood of Christ at Calvary?
Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (These two verses are quoted from Jeremiah 31:31-34.)
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Act 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
Act 10:37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
The death of the Messiah is found in Daniel 9:26, and there are only two possible singular antecedents for the word “he” in the next verse. Those antecedents are either Christ or Titus, who was the prince of the people that destroyed the temple during 70 AD.
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Is the “he” in Daniel 9:27 the “Messiah”, or “the prince” of the people that destroyed the city and the sanctuary in verse 26? If we used “the people of the prince” it would not be a singular “he”.
Does the author of the Book of Hebrews connect the New Covenant with the Messiah’s death found in Daniel 9:26, in the verse below?
Heb 9:15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. (NKJV)
Verse 26 also says the Messiah would be cut off “after” the 69 weeks. If I agree to paint your house “after” 69 weeks, it will not be painted until the 70th week, or after. Is there a “gap” of almost 2,000 years between the 69th week and the 70th week, or was it fulfilled during the first century when the Gospel was preached “first” to the Jews?
We know there is a time period when the Gospel was taken “first” to the Jews, as the Apostle Paul said in the verse below.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Can we find a time period of about seven years when the Gospel was taken “first” to Daniel’s people during the first century? If we can, we have good evidence that the 70th week of Daniel has already been fulfilled.
Did Christ command His disciples to take the Gospel only to Israel in the passage below?
Mat 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans.
Mat 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Mat 10:7 And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'
Is the time period when the Gospel was preached “first” (Rom. 1:16) to the Jews in the passage above, confirmed in the passage below?
Act 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
Act 10:37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
In the passage above Luke confirms the fact that the Gospel of Christ was preached throughout the land of Israel after the baptism which John preached. Here again, we have a text which reveals a time period when the Gospel was taken “first” to the Jews, as Paul said in Romans 1:16.
Bible scholars have looked at the number of Passover celebrations in the Gospels and have estimated Christ’s earthly ministry to have lasted about three and one half years. Was the Gospel taken “first” (Rom. 1:16) to the Jews for a period of about three and one half years during the period of time revealed in the Gospels?
In Galatians 1:14-18 Paul reveals he did not go up to see Peter until about 3 years after his conversion. During that time the Gospel continued to be taken almost exclusively to Daniel's people, before Paul took the Gospel to the Gentiles.

The 70 weeks are a period of 490 days because in the first few verses, Daniel understood the 70 years of captivity are a result of failure to celebrate 70 Jubilees from the time of Saul unto their few years in captivity. Actually, they celebrated Jubilee only twice, once, during the birth of solomon and the next Jubilee they celebrated was during the inauguration of their Temple. Every 50 years, they should had celebrated 8 Jubilees and therefore, in there 451 years of history, they missed 70 Jubilees and only twice celebrated it. So, having kings and Temple doesn’t guarantee a right path to Yahweh but only make them sinned against Yahweh. So, the 70 weeks was not about rebuilding their Temple but rather points to the True Temple of Yahweh, his son, Jesus and his ministry. As a lamb of Yahweh, he must be of the first year, meaning, must be only year old as the length of his ministry, from his cleansing of the Temple unto the next year cleansing of the Temple again. It says the the roads shall be rebuilt again. Jesus being cutoff does not refer to his crucifixion but rather, him being chosen as the sacrificial lamb by his countrymen. This was Friday, after his 2nd cleansing of the Temple, five days before his death on April 28, 28 AD, Wednesday. One lunar year is 51 weeks but in 28 AD, an additional monty, Adar 2, was added before the Nisan 1 New Year, so as to wait for the harvest be ready. This makes the year 55 weeks and pushed the Passover to the end of April in 28 AD. The 70 weeks of Daniel did not started with a command of a Gentile king but rather by Yahweh Himself when Jesus was baptized by John on February 13, 27 AD, Thursday. Use 2003 calendar for this year. Add 7 weeks to it and this was the first entry of Jesus in Jerusalem, Thursday. The next day was his first cleansing of the Temple, Friday, for the after sunset Sabbath. Add the 7 weeks baptism to first cleansing to 55 weeks 2nd cleansing makes it 62 weeks where he was cutoff. Add 6 more days makes a total of 440 days. The 3 days and 3 nights from Wednesday afternoon to Saturday afternoon on May 1, 28 AD are not included. We still have 50 days more and this would be future. Add 66 times 11 times 1000 days takes you to January 20, 2016, the 7th year of Obama. Add 66 times 11 takes you to January 15, 2018, the 1st year of Trump. Add 11 times 28 or 11 lunar cycles and it will take you to the start of the covenant with many by the False Messiah. Trump’s days will only be 666 days. From Obama’s re-election on November 6, 2012, his rule was extended for 42 months. He will have to rule for another 40 weeks plus 6 weeks during the days of Tribulation. The last 50 days of the 70 weeks of Daniel will resume on the Days of Noah, the memorial of the flood, on the 17th day of moon wile the sun is at scorpio, on the 4365th year after the flood. It will be Saturday and jesus told the Jews to pray the their flight be not Sabbath day, for it will be on November 24, 2018 and it will be winter on those 40 days of Tribulation.

You right about the last seven years except that the man of sin (little horn) and the 10 horned beast only receive power for one hour (1 year) that is a year before the midst of the week bring the great tribulation to an end and bringing in the time of the wrath of God. The great tribulation occurs in the 1st half of the week followed by the rapture/resurrection then immediately the 2nd half brings in the wrath of God. The 70 weeks have already been completed. They ran from 457 BC to 34 AD. The last week or 7 years is from Jesus' baptism in 27 AD to Stephan's stoning in 34 AD. The abomination of desolation Jesus warned about was the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. It is not the great tribulation at the end of time like some people are saying.

Daniel 9:26 To me it says that after that period of time the anointed one is no more. In other words he changes from the role of anointed, savior whatever to probably no more in that role, perhaps against the civilization for they have failed or sinned against him during that time. It means that the chances of civilization for salvation by the anointed one are no more. The time is over. And all of this coincides with a Cataclysm that leads or that finishes in a war which also leads to the final ruin.

Read again. It's the 70 sevens, not the first 69 of the sevens. The 70th seven has not begun. The Anti-Christ has not assumed the role as world leader. He has not proclaimed a peace treaty with many which certainly includes Israel. The third temple has not yet been built. And of course the Anti-Christ has not appeared in the third temple claiming to be God since there is no third temple - yet. In other words, the full time period of which the 70 sevens encompasses, has not happened yet. Therefore, everlasting righteousness has not occured yet. The Messiah has not returned and will not until at or near the end of the 70th week which is still on hold.

5. Anoint the most Holy will be fulfilled at the end of the 70th week when Isreal anoints Messiah the Prince King of all Israel. Ask yourself why Zech. 9:9? Jesus was repeating 1st Kings 1:33 but was reject by Caiaphis; 1st Kings 1:39 will be fulfilled in the 70th week.
6. You give argument for "the Messiah" translated with the definite artical but say nothing of it added to "a people" and "a prince" in 9:26. The Hebrew grammar has the pronoun Messiah the anticedant to the pro-form "HE" in 9:27. Messiah being JESUS has every reason to be capitalized if you truely believe HIM the creator. HE would spew you out of HIS mouth.
A misunderstand occurs when the seven WEEKS of Daniel 9:25 are taken to mean YEARS.

The term weeks means sevens, and hebdominal time was vommon in ancient times. To say seven weeks or sevens does not mean years creates a huge problem when reading the many passages elsewhere in Holy Writ.
The way I see it is it tells of the Messiah's entrance into Jerusalem and his crucifixion. and leaves a week for the tribulation. I also believe that there are always two or more ways to look at everything. The reason for this is Faith which is a significant factor as well, and it is left open-ended, so that faith is a factor. If it was all black and white and a solid line, then what would be the point. If you know something for certain, there is no need for faith or belief as it is already true. How, then, would anyone be tested as this world is a test for us? We are tested every day in every way to see who can rise above. I know we are all sinners, none are perfect, and no one will ever be, as we have seen what happened to the only perfect soul. They crucified him, we all fall short of the glory of God and if not for his love, none would be saved. So do not expect any clear-cut truths that are written in stone unless you want to dig the fifty or so feet under where Jesus was crucified and read the Tablets yourself.
Most of the stuff confusing because people take it literally, like the word the temple of God people think it is the building but actually He is Jesus himself. So, Daniel his prophecy mainly about the born of Jesus, his death and about the anti-Christ. Most prophets their message was mainly about the coming of the Messiah.

Prophets are also anointed. With that in mind, the end of the first "seven" would have been around the time of the end of the Old Testament Prophets Ezra, Nehemiah, Malachi from the starting point of the prophecy. So what was the "decree" that started the clock. Instead of using the fourth item or the second authorization by Artaxeres to Nehemiah around 445 BC, look at the third item, the decree of Artaxeres to EZRA approximately 457 BC recorded in Ezra 7. In that decree, Ezra is not only provide supplies to physically "rebuilt", but he is also commission to appoint civil officers to effectively reestablish and "restore" Jerusalem as a city and political entity. This is the only one of the four possible "decrees" that restored Jerusalem as a city.
So from that starting date of 457 plus 7+62 actual weeks, gets us to the coming of 2 more anointed ones: John the Baptist; Jesus the Christ - Messiah. And after the 62, not immediately, but about 3 1/2 years, He - Messiah is cut off. And about 3 1/2 years after his death and ressurection, Peter received the vision of unclean beats, Paul was converted, and the gospel covenant Jesus confirmed with Judah was taken to another people, the Gentiles, and the time of the Gentiles came into being.
But isn't Paul making it clear that the Messiah, Jesus, will not return until after the full number of gentiles come in? Also, He will not return until the chosen people say, "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord."

Better question did Jesus die after the Passover meal like stated in Matt, Mark and Luke or did he die before the Passover meal which is clearly stated in John.

Without the benefit of the New Testament, I would agree that Daniel 9:27 would not make sense. Like Paul talking of the son of perdition, obviously the Anti-Christ, sitting in the temple of God claiming to be God, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12.
And you have the benefit of later Scripture really generated by Jesus which make it clear at least the approximate time of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection around 30 AD (give or take a few years at best). Some would say 28 AD using various facts and circumstances, some would say either 32 AD or 33 AD using the 69 sevens prophecy. Obviously that is not 70 AD.
But without the New Testament books inspired by Jesus and the Holy Spirit, none of this would be clear.
I would agree about the importance, especially with devout Jews, that the main thing is to show that the Messiah came when He was supposed to come, even if it was before the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. However, once a person sees that Jesus was the Messiah who came and was cut-off but not for Himself, then you have history as well as New Testament Scripture that illuminates Daniel's prophecies and more. And then you are back to about April 32 AD.
Dr. Brown's issue with Rashi is in fact not an issue at all. He misunderstands Rashi. Rashi is not saying that the events have to CONCLUDE by the time of the end of the 70 weeks. Verse 24 is speaking about the process. Rather that these events have to be set into motion by the end of the 70 weeks. Thus the fact that the Messiah has not yet arrived fits perfectly with Rashi's explanation. This idea is very clear. Rashi states "so that Israel should receive their complete retribution in the exile of Titus and his subjugation," Thus we see that it is throughout the exile that the sins of Israel are being wiped away rather than the sins having been wiped away prior to the end of the 70 weeks. The truth is there are perhaps two possible ways of interpreting Daniel 9:24. Dr. Brown chooses to interpret it via the idea that all must conclude by the time the 70 weeks have occurred. Rashi interprets the verse with the idea that all must be set into motion by this point in time. There is in truth (to my knowledge) no definitive way from the verse itself to determine which is the correct interpretation. However this much I can state definitively... That jesus cannot be the second messiah referred to here. (the one who is cut off) There are a number of reasons for this, but I will focus on the one that speaks best to the issue at hand here. Namely the ending of sin. If it is true that the interpretation Dr. Brown provides is the correct one and it is fulfilled in jesus, then according to Dr. Brown Israel is IN FACT without sin. Thus Israel has no need to acknowledge jesus in order to be forgiven. We are already without sin. Not only that, but according to Dr. Brown's logic there would be no sin if I were to pick up a gun and become a mass murderer since my sins are ended as the verse states. For the above reason I am forced to conclude that Dr. Brown's interpretation of verse 24 has to be incorrect not because the verse indicates that all things must conclude at the point the 70 weeks end, but rather because we clearly see that sin has in fact not ended. Thus Rashi's interpretation turns out to be the correct one. As far as Daniel 2 and Dr. Brown's comment. His issue is with the fact that Rashi is speaking of the Roman Empire and thus he has a problem with how this could take place in the future (where there is presumably no Roman Empire) his mistake stems from the fact that he doesn't realize that the Roman Empire still stands today. Whilst the military might no longer exists, the Roman Empire does still exist. It exists via the church. (which are the feet and toes of the statue in the dream related in Daniel chapter 2) The church is the divided kingdom part of iron part of clay which appeared in the dream of Nevuchadnetsar as related in Daniel chapter 2. It is a divided kingdom. (verse 41) (part Rome, part Constantinople)

Right, as Paul states quite clearly, "blindness, in part, has come upon Israel..." It's for the sake of the gentiles so they can come in. One of the prophecies or requirements before Jesus returns is that the full number of gentiles come in. The other is that He said he will not return until Israel says, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord."

IF this passage in Daniel 9:25-27 IS not about JESUA then we NEED to ask ourselves and answer these questions.
Why would a commandment be given the jews already in captivity to restore jerusalem to the coming antichrist or earthy prince who is just gong to take them back into captivity?

This guy is just plain wrong in his interpretations. There is NO gap between the 69th and 70th week. Jesus the Messiah has EVERYTHING to do with Daniel 9. The 70 weeks run from the decree of Artexerxies to rebuild the temple in 457 BC to Stephen’s stoning in 34 AD. The 70th or final week is from Jesus’ baptism to Stephen’s stoning. After that the gospel went to the Gentiles.

@@AntonNor Stephen's stoning was important in that it would mark the end of the period that the Jews had to turn back around towards God. Daniel told them that they would have 70 weeks or 490 years in which to turn around. They did not so the gospel then went to the Gentiles.
That also marks the entrance of Paul since he was helping them stone Stephan. It also lines up perfectly with the end of the 70th week math wise in 34 AD.

The original Hebrew text has no Nikkud nor semicolons just letters. I am from Israel speaking Hebrew since birth and if you will let someone read Daniel 9 he will understand that there is no Messiah after the first 7 weeks, only after the 69th week.
Good hermeneutics dictates that one passage of Scripture--if correctly read--will harmonize with all related passages; to do otherwise is to intimate God is a liar and cannot preserve His Word.
Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Dan.9:27. He declared, "Before Abraham was, I AM." Not I was, am and will be but, I AM. He had no beginning, nor has He and end. These are His credentials for being the Messiah.
God manifested Himself in the flesh for the purpose of sacrifice, for God in Spirit cannot die. Only a sinless being can pay for sin and satisfy justice. Those who argue against these fundamental truths are described in Mt.7:21-23. Plus we can at the same time see that there is a " Vav" (and) between 7 weeks and 62 weeks as conjunction connecting the 2 separate weeks to each other .
However, if we take the atnach as a disjunction then it took 62 weeks or 434 years to rebuild Jerusalem with moats and walls and city gates which is something impossible.
Jerusalem was rebuilt and became a functional town under Nehemia and that didn't take 434 years.

The 1599 Geneva Bible is the Bible the Pilgrims brought to America. What was their understanding of Daniel 9:27? Did they believe the “covenant with the many” in Daniel 9:27 is the “covenant with the many” in Matthew 26:28, which is the New Covenant? Did the angel Gabriel appear to Daniel to reveal the timeline of the Messiah who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34, and then the angel failed to even mention the New Covenant?

The death of the Messiah is found in Daniel 9:26, and there are only two possible singular antecedents for the word “he” in the next verse. Those antecedents are either Christ or Titus, who was the prince of the people that destroyed the temple during 70 AD.

Does the author of the Book of Hebrews connect the New Covenant with the Messiah’s death found in Daniel 9:26, in the verse below?

Verse 26 also says the Messiah would be cut off “after” the 69 weeks. If I agree to paint your house “after” 69 weeks, it will not be painted until the 70th week, or after. Is there a “gap” of almost 2,000 years between the 69th week and the 70th week, or was it fulfilled during the first century when the Gospel was preached “first” to the Jews?
We know there is a time period when the Gospel was taken “first” to the Jews, as the Apostle Paul said in the verse below.

In the passage above Luke confirms the fact that the Gospel of Christ was preached throughout the land of Israel after the baptism which John preached. Here again, we have a text which reveals a time period when the Gospel was taken “first” to the Jews, as Paul said in Romans 1:16.
Bible scholars have looked at the number of Passover celebrations in the Gospels and have estimated Christ’s earthly ministry to have lasted about three and one half years. Was the Gospel taken “first” (Rom. 1:16) to the Jews for a period of about three and one half years during the period of time revealed in the Gospels?
How did Peter address the crowd on the Day of Pentecost when about 3,000 Israelites accepted the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34, and fulfilled by the blood of Christ at Calvary?
Act 2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
We know there was a time period between Calvary and Paul’s conversion, because he held the coats of those who stoned Stephen. Since Pentecost was almost 2 months after Christ died at Calvary, we know a time period of several months may have occurred before Paul came to faith in Christ.
What did Paul say below about the time period between his conversion and the day he went to see Peter?
Gal 1:14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
Gal 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
Gal 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
Gal 1:17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
Gal 1:18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
In the passage above the Apostle Paul reveals there was a time period of about 3 years between the time of his conversion and the time he went to see Peter. Therefore, we know Paul did not start preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles until at least three years after his conversion.
Can we find a time period of about seven years when the Gospel was taken “first” (Rom. 1:16) to the Jews, before Paul began preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles?
3 ½ years during the earthly ministry of Christ
(Matt. 10:5-7, Acts 10:36-38)
Several months between Christ’s death and Paul’s conversion
3 years between Paul’s conversion and the time he went to see Peter.
(Galatians 1:14-18)
If the time periods above are added up we get a total time period of about seven years when the Gospel was taken “first” to Daniel’s people, before Paul took the Gospel to the Gentiles. Therefore, a New Covenant understanding of Daniel chapter 9 reveals the 70th week of Daniel occurred during the first century.
Did the sacrifices cease in the middle of the week, (after about 3 ½ years), when Christ died at Calvary? Why did God rip the temple veil in half at the moment Christ died? Even though the Jews continued to sacrifice animals after Calvary, were those sacrifices accepted by God? The answer to these questions can be found in the Book of Hebrews. Was Christ the final sacrifice for sin in Hebrews 10:16-18, in fulfillment of the New Covenant?
Very few modern Christians have ever heard the New Covenant interpretation of Daniel 9:27, which is found in the 1599 Geneva Bible.

The word in Daniel 9 is Nagid(נגיד)in hebrew...Nagid isn't a prince...Nagid is a RULER!!Or rather, a man carrying a dominant position like a king or a president.

The Roman Empire did not fall until the XV century in the East and the sacred Roman Empire until the XIX. The Prussian Empire and III Reich were continuations of it so we go to 1945 and soon after the state of Israel was founded which eventually will become the kingdom of God of Daniel 2.... so using Daniel 2 to interpret Daniel 9 will not help you to make it into a Jesus prophecy.
Please read Hebrews 10/14- For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. This was brought about in AD 33 by THE MESSIAH ( LORD YESHUA MESSIAH) NONE ELSE. This fulfills Dan 9/24 ( 6 conditions). There were 3 decrees. Cyrus, Darius and Artexeres BC 457. Shalom

Those first two questions I posed explain why there is a gap between the 69th and 70th week because the Messiah was cut-off but not for Himself. What an excellent translation that is, looking back and forward.
The gap of nearly 2,000 years explains one of the main purposes of the purpose of the chosen people and it explains why there is a father of many nations.
I think that most people let other people tell them what to think and believe about what the Bible says instead of determining what it says by themselves. And of course listening to many Bible scholars, Rabbis, etc. Sifting what makes sense, what seems right and fits Scripture and what does not. And fits history and times.
And maybe it is because people are part of a group that has a certain mind-set or interpretation and it would be difficult and maybe life altering to go against the group.
Imagine a pastor going against the teaching of a church or a church system, like Calvary Chapel, that pretty much has a doctrinal belief in the pre-trib theory? Mike Winger is one that does that, for example. But that is rocking the boat. God forbid a Rabbi would do such a thing, people would be tearing their clothes! lol
I think most people just accept what they are taught by the Rabbis or by Christian Pastors of their church or by the Magisterium in Rome or whoever.

As a Christian who believes Jesus was the Messiah and not only for the Jews, I read the New Testament writings which shed a great deal of light on many things in the Old Testament as we call it.
Like 2nd Thessalonians Chapter 2 which ties very directly into Daniel 9:27. As one example. A very very tough passage for preterist positions, pre-tribulation positions, etc. A huge stumbling block that must be decimated and explained away.
Even a stumbling block for whoever interprets Daniel 9:27's final 70th week as either consecutive (say 40 AD) or happening in or around 70 AD. What???? A gap you say of maybe 37 years? How could that be? lol
Of course 40 AD, as the 70th week, would be too strange to back as that is when the writings of the Apostles began to be written or very shortly after that. The consecutive 70 weeks idea fits nothing. No end to sacrifice and an abomination of desolation in 40 AD.
And wait a second here. What is the difference between 9:26 and 9:27? The city and sanctuary are destroyed.
And then comes the desolation of the temple and end to sacrifice? What?

The context of the Daniel 9:24-27 is Daniel 8:17 "time of the end." Daniel 9:26 "until the end" Daniel 11:35 "time of the end" Daniel 12:4 "time of the end"
The word week in Hebrew can mean 7 days, 7 years, or it can refer to the yearly feast of weeks.
On Feast of Weeks 1967 right after the 6 day war, the UN Security Council in resolution 237 called for refugees to be permitted to return so that they could rebuild their lives/homes, a literal fulfillment of the decree of Daniel 9:25 in the mist of one Feast of Weeks.
Also notable since 1967 Jerusalem has been rebuilt with a wall the West Bank Barrier very obviously literally fulfilling Daniel 9:25.
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

Want to go a bit further down that Rabbit hole in Daniel chapter 9? The last 4 chapters in Daniel are actually divided and purposefully intermixed chapters, and what we know as chapters (or parchments as it were) 9,10,11,12 is actually 9/11,10/12 just like that. The Matter spoken of in Daniel 9:23 is all about the first and second coming of Jesus Christ, whereas the Vision that it goes on to speak of only has but one option, and that's the vision of Daniel chapter 8 and then repeated in "immediately"in the whole of Daniel chapter 11 ;-)

I think I just figured out why counting from 457BC is correct. The reason is that if we use the 365 days for 1 year comes out to the same as the Hebrew calendar. Because the Hebrew calendar is really 354 days but 7 out of every 19 years is a leap year which contains 384 days (an extra month of 30 days). So if you calculate it out it comes up to a difference of like 90 days. In the long run it always comes up about equal. So calculating the years is fine using the regular 365 days.
The 490 years is the 70 weeks talked about in the prophecy. It is the same period. Everything in the prophecy has already come to pass. The problem is this guy is using an inaccurate translation of the bible (NESB). Using the KJV or NKJV you will get a better picture.

Seventy Weeks are exactly that, 70 weeks, 490 days which occur prior to the Seventh Trumpet, the ascension.
That is incorrect. The 70 weeks pertain to the 70 shemitah's (7-yr periods; the release; Deut. 15:1-6) that Israel forsook after entering into the Promise Land, which Daniel learned through books of Jeremiah (Dan. 9:2, Jer. 25). These 70 weeks are weeks of years = 490 years.
The Shemitah began and ended on Elul 29. Its basic principle is to trust in Him for all our need, which ancient Israel forsook and rebelled against, as they went and establish their own way of doing things (Is. 9: 8-10). The same thing, but different, has occurred with the church, which has turned the gospel into another, which is not another, and deceives many to think they are something they are not by that gospel they believe and teach. So Michael Brown acknowledges that he doesn't understand the timeline given in Daniel chapter 9, and can't be clear it counts down to the coming of Jesus. He can only be confident that the 70 weeks of years (= 490 years) terminates with the destruction of the Temple and contains the fulfillment of all Daniel's prophecy within that period. Brown sees no clear timeline pointing directly to Jesus. I agree with him there. The 69 weeks of years and the seven weeks of years have no obvious starting year, and whichever starting year to care to give it, it is only with verbal gymnastics that you can manipulate the coming of Jesus as an historical event to shoehorn Jesus in. Like me, he is amused by the gratuitous evangelical argument that the 69 weeks of years (= 483 years) brings us to the time of Jesus (9.30 to 9.45 mnutes).
Brown understands that the six events prophesied in Daniel 9:24 must point to Jesus and are fulfilled on or before the 70th week of years, namely:
1) Transgression will cease.
2) Sin will end.
3) Guilt will be expiated.
4) Everlasting righteousness will be brought in.
5) Vision and prophecy will be sealed up.
6) A holy of holies (or a holy one) will be anointed.
The problem with Brown's understanding is that those six events do NOT prophesy Jesus in any coherent way and actually tend to exclude Jesus from the prophecy. The key event in verse 24, which WOULD point to Jesus, is missing: namely faith or belief in messiah. Faith in Jesus is central to Christianity and forgiveness of sin, but we don't find it there! Moreover, transgression and sin did not cease in any way at the time of Jesus (or in the messianic era that Jesus allegedly brought in). People sinned at the time of Jesus just as before. Daniel (or Gabriel) is predicting the arrival of God's kingdom and rule on earth within the 70 weeks of years, when sin would necessarily end, but it just didin't happen! The prophecy is a failure.
Note that the expiation of guilt is not associated with blood sacrifice (let alone the death of messiah) in Daniel, and probably means that the suffering experienced by the Jewish people will expiate their sin, as a prelude to the coming of God's kingdom.
Jesus did not bring in "everlasting righteousness", and a holy of holies (or holy one) was not anointed. Note that Jesus was not anointed as priest or king/prince or as messiah. The woman anointing Jesus in Luke chapter 7 is not an anointing for a set purpose, but reflects her faith in him. Jesus wasn't anointed as anything (and aoninting is supposed ot be odne by a priest - a Levite). There is a protocoll given in the Old Testament!
Vision and prophecy were not sealed up or completed at the time of Jesus either. Christians are still waiting for his return, when they expect him to fulfill messianc prophecy (e.g. world peace,, the in-gathering of the Jews and the construction of the Temple prophesied in Ezekiel etc.). Jesus has NOT FULFILLED A SINGLE MESSIANIC PROPHECY, so we cannot reasonably claim that "vision and prophecy" were sealed up or completed at the time of Jesus. He did not bring in God's kingdom on earth, and even said (allegedly): "My kingdom is not of this earth" (john 18:36), which is an admission (in context) that he did not bring in God's kingdom or everlasting righteousness.
In admitting that there is no timeline given in Daniel 9 that clearly points to Jesus' coming to the world, Brown's argument that Daniel chapter 9 is christological collapses! Because there is absolutely no textual evidence that Daniel is pointings to Jesus, you have to already have faith in Jesus, and to keep your "Jesus glasses" firmly on, to believe that it prophies Jesus, The only way that Christians can see Jesus prophesied in the Hebrew scriptures (here and elsewhere) is by wrenching verses out of context (most of them not even written as prophecy!) or by mistranslating the Hebrew. Two examples of mistranslation of the Hebrew text are the claim that Isaiah chapter 7 prophesis the "virgin" birth of Jesus (it does not!) and the mistranslation of Psalm 22, verse 16, where there is no Hebrew word that comes close to "pierced" (the correct translation is "LIKE A LION, they are at my hands and feet", or similar). Furthermore, the context of psalm 22 shows that it is not about Jesus, and it is not even written as a prophecy. It is about king David. Oot of context assertions are a constant problem with Christian apologists, which makes Jews very wary (and weary!) of them.
I don't think that was his point. Listen again in context. He's talking to Jews that believe the Old Testament only. Hebrew. In that context, he is saying that their is no question, from that context, that the Messiah had to come before the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. I think that is pretty clear.

But this would leave only ONE week of years (=7 years) for the destruction of the temple after him. But, as you said, the temple was destroyed in 70 AD, which is not even close to 7 years after Jesus died (assuming he died in about 30 to 33 AD).

If you ignore all the passages that have to do with the abomination of desolation and Christ's second coming and the fact that Jesus called the end times the worst time of all time and so forth and so on, then I would agree with or not even bother with anything that anyone would say because they would not have a clue.

@@psandbergnz Anyone that is good at getting to the bottom of things, like a good auditor or a good detective or a good private investigator, does not ignore evidence and especially does not ignore contradictory evidence.
Say you are accused of a serious crime. The DA is hot to convict someone. The detectives don't give a damn whether you are innocent or not. They have enough evidence. But they also have evidence you didn't commit the crime. Solution? Leave the evidence out that shows you are innocent. Hence, you are guilty. Is this true? No. But it fits their premise because they want to convict someone. That is their main motive, not getting to the truth.
Most of what I listen to regarding end time theories and most comments I read are wrong precisely because they do not put the evidence together or they leave evidence out or they change the evidence to say something it doesn't say.
The PRIME example of changing the evidence is 2nd Thessalonians Chapter 2. Blows the hell out of the pre-trib rapture theory. So what is the solution? Ignore 2 Thes 2. Change the meaning of it, or just quote the first 1 1/2 sentences (first three verses), ignore the rest of the verses 4 through 12 and call it a day. THEIR theory is still intact, the enemy is defeated. The evidence is destroyed or mutilated to the point that it doesn't mean what it says. The truth loses, the theory wins!

Also, the "end times" allegedly prophesied by Jesus (I wrote "allegedly" because he did not write the Gospel accounts - they were written by anonymous authors, who are not identifiable in the Gospel texts) have STILL not occurred. You can see this from Matthew chapter 24 (and Luke 21:32), where the signs are listed. Jesus taught that "all these things" would happen in the generation of his listeners. But this clearly did not happen. So, even after the passage of some 2,000 years, you are still waiting for God's kingdom to arise and Jesus' return (for example, read Matt 24:30). This indicates Jesus (assuming he said those things) misread the signs of his times, and got them wrong. His error is confirmed in Mark 9:1, where he allegedly declares that "there are some standing here" who will not die before the kingdom of God comes with power, or the son of man comes in his kingdom (Matt. 16:28). And indeed according to Revelation, the worst is still to come (so not yet completed fulfilment).

But if they are not, then what basis do you have for maintaining that _any_ of Daniel's weeks of years are consecutive? So then why do you believe that the "70 weeks of years" present any coherent timeline that you can order chronologically? Your argument lacks consistency. The truth is that evangelicals interfere with Daniel (and the other prophetic passages in the Hebrew scriptures) to adjust the "goal posts", to suit their christological timeline and agenda. But that does not make a persuasive argument. Consistency does.

Your English is bad. Cyrus the Great is Darius the Mede in Daniel. Not Cyrus the Persian which is Cambyses II. The anointed in Daniel 9:25 is Ezra. He reformed the land of Yahudah and the city of Yerushalayim. Artaxerxes I which Josephus calls him Cyrus (Koresh which means shepherd which is a title or surname) in the 20th year gave the decree to Nehemiah rebuild the city walls. That was 445 BCE. 49 years later, Ezra’s reforms were finished and the walls were built. That’s when the 62 sevens (Sabbatical years) are counted. 32 CE is the 62nd Sabbatical year (62nd seven). The closest year after to a Wednesday crucifixion is 34 CE. Now the transgression has not ended yet. However, Moshiach (Yahusha) already came. Otherwise Daniel would be a liar and Scripture has to be completely false. Or the Pharisee religion is false and Scripture is correct which means Yahusha is the Moshiach. Also, eating pig is sin. Eating on Yom Kippur is sin. I observe all of the Torah.

Wrong. Cut off means cut off. To die. Doesn’t mean it’s good or bad. It’s neutral. Cut off can have more than one meaning. In this context, Yahusha was not cut off for himself or because he “sinned”. He never sinned. Do you not know Scripture? Isaiah said that Yahusha who is innocent will take the death penalty of Israel breaking the covenant for the whole nation rather than Israel completely being destroyed. That applies to Yahudah also. Because Yahudah is one of the 12 tribes.

Let´s say Daniel 9: 24-27 was fulfilled before the destruction of the Temple 70 AD. Then one can clearly see the Roman Elite stood behind the NT story to explain "the kingdom of God" as the Roman Empire, based and authorized on Daniel and
the rest of the Jewish Bible. The Alexander family (that days Rockefeller) with Vespasianus (God) and Titus (the Son of God) afterwards used Christianity to enhance themselves and cool down all uproar, as they went out to war against all opposition. That´s the simple explanation of why Gods kingdom as prophesied by Jesus in Mt 10:23 and 16:28 never come about and so never was fulfilled.

You quit reading just at the wrong moment. If you had read just one verse further, you would have seen that Matthew 16:28 is fulfilled in the very next chapter (!), in Matthew 17:1-9.
Listen, have you never thought of how Matthew could have composed his story? He was not an eyewitness, as the author of Mt was written in Greek and about as late as about 80-85 C.E., 50-55 years after Jesus execution. Mt was not present in the story in what he writes. He is rather making a story built on both hearsay (oral tradition) and other already written material (like obviously Mark, and probably even the Q, and the M source). He has then gone back to the Septuagint (Greek version of OT), to find prove-texts for his story. A dilemma also is that for his own text he uses not the Hebrew original but the Greek version, as he then want to find confirmations for his Jesusstory and what is being said and done. He finds 11 places that seem to confirm his story, or rather that he builds his story from, so that it looks like a fulfilled prophecy about Jesus. Why not just go and learn what this all means?
