As a very software-OCD advanced PC user who is less than well-learned in advanced networking specifics, I gave up trying to find out which EXACT build was the one that was THE NEWEST AND BEST that could be installed on my PARTICULAR router and how I could do that and so I'm now here to see what this guy did, hoping I can later upgrade to that EXACT BEST NEWEST PERFECT build. Then I'll probably spend 3 hours configuring it just EXACTLY PERFECT. :\
This is a great video. it's much easier than the install wizard that came with the router. It allows you to do more and get better options. It's easy to understand and I will have no problems now. Thanks for the info.
I got it working on a WRT54GL 1.1 as the bridge repeater using "dd-wrt.v24-12548_NEWD_mini.bin" and a WRT45GS 2.1 as the primary hooked to the computer & modem.
hey man, with the ddwrt does the ability to boost the signal strength make a noticeable difference? I live in a house that for some reason I have a real hard time getting any signal even with the router close. Thanks Josh
I have a wrt54g2 v1 and an airlink 101 router I want to put the linksys upstairs as a repeater so my kids can get a better signal can this be done with this software and would it have to be on both or just 1 I have the cable Internet service with no wireless built in the airlink connected to get a wifi signal
So whenever i try to enter the ip-addres from the linksys router in to my browser, i dont get to the linksys setup screen. I either get get the message : "Can't connect to the internet" , or I get the login screen from our new router, so not the linksys router. What do i need to do to get in the linksys setup screen?
Make sure that you are typing in the correct IP address for the router (gateway, default unless you changed i.e. 192.168.1.1) and that your computer is also set to a static IP address. Something like, 192.168.1.10, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 ---- Also, helps to do a hard reset of the router before proceeding.
okay so. i just moved in with my friend and her ex set up dd-wrt on her linksys wireless router. i had never heard of it before this and the only comjputer that can connect to the internet via wireless is her laptop. i can't get any of my laptops to connect even after putting in the passphrase in my laptop. it seems as if i need to put my mac and IP address of my computers into the web GUI somewhere in order to connect but i can't figure out where to do so?
The only way your router could get "hacked" because of having the default name/pass to log into the router, would be if someone else got on a computer which was also connected to the router in order to change settings, right? Because doing a reset on the router, would reset it back to the default name/pass, so it seems kinda pointless if the router is in your bedroom at your home and nobody else has access to it.

Would the WRT54GL with the DD-WRT firmware be good for a Guest Wi-Fi Hotspot? I have a WRT54GS V6. router w/ the micro firmware.
in the video you do not have the router plugged into anthing do i need to unplug it and will it work with magicjack plus
Do you do the hard reset with the router powered on?

Can you return back to stock if it is bricked

I have a Linksys 54 TM router, is that the same?
can this firmware support mesh network?
*finger snapping* Hey, focus.... I asked a question LOL
I might get this router just to do that.
However, I changed my name/pass to something more standard and easier to remember than "root" as the username.
Sweet Works Great
Hey that 192.168.1.1 doesnt work for me the pass is incorrect
i use iceweasel
= ??
