I had a succession (2) of Fiat 124 Spyders back in the late '80s, but the bodies were not anywhere this nice condition. SO MUCH FUN! And SO good looking - reminded me of the original Datsun 240Z at the front. Mine had the same engine as this one. Quite "cammy" at about 4000 rpm, when it really pulled away. They were happiest at speed. Pretty doggy in stop & go commuting traffic though. The trunk and back seat were awesome for luggage. They took everything i needed for a 2 week vacation in a rented cabin on Cape Cod, including a bike strapped to the luggage rack.
The Fiat 124 saloon (not this one)production line was sold to Russia and became The Lada Riva(not Niva)and other variants. Most of Europe sold the cars back to Russian car dealers in the nineties after the cold war. Remember that?? When we could all sleep at night in Europe without WWIII nightmares.🙂
@@ramishrambarran3998 Coachbuilders are (At least form a europen perspectiv) different again. They will build your one off or small production run of a vehicle.
Hi from the other side of the world,Norway. I also love odd cars, italian , france, gb. Had and still got a couple of them mint cond in my garage. Love to tinker with older cars and my wife do aprove. GREAT VLOGS!😊
I always thought Fiat's were just complete junk here in the US. But I have never seen one earlier than the 80's. This is a beautiful car, and clearly seems to be well designed and built. Not to mention how well it has been taken care of. Thanks for giving us such a good look at it!
Wow never saw one with a hardtop, I had a 1972 back in '79, same color but mine had the smaller bumpers. It worked well ran good only issue I had was replacing the clutch cable too often
It's had Abarth rims added for looks. But they look to be original Abarth rims at least. A tasteful upgrade. Arguably, a period-correct custom touch. By the way, if you ever come across an old Capri with a history in SoCal and a Pioneer tape deck installed by one of the early owners, do post a video!
Indeed, it's an awesome car, however this American style bumpers are a disgrace for the car. EU style bumpers would improved the look even more.❤ That clock is aftermarket build in....they didn't have a clock.😊
Was the *Spyder* not apt, isn't this just a later *FART* version of the boat tailed Alfa, a la The Graduate? Someone else says about Pininfarina being a styling house and Arbarth the tuning shop. Which after Arbarth was not a constructor and absorbed into *FART* was true. Right until we look at MX5s.
Beautiful example of one of Fiats best cars. Wash and polish before the customer collects please, especially the driver's side front wing. Steering box might need adjustment. Overtightening is bad for the box. You have to live with a tiny bit of play at the wheel.
Pininfarina is a coach maker like Fisher or Ghia. Abarth is an aftermarket performance specialist I usually associate with engine parts; dohc heads and other upgrades.
As commented below, the styling was done by Pininfarina. Battista Pininfarina, né Farina (Hence the f in the company crest!), was the younger brother of five children, the smaller one. In Italian: pinin. So Pininfarina could be translated "The smaller one of the Farina brothers". Farina was later allowed to officially change his family name to Pininfarina.
I have mixed feelings about those cars; part of me likes the looks of them but, at the same time, it never stuck me as a “beautiful” car. I have to admit that I do prefer the MGB, MGB GT, Sunbeam Alpine, and even the Renault Caravelle to the Fiat in terms of styling.
Had one for 20 years. Absolute blast. Unibody rust got her in the end.

I had a 78 that same color (but no hard top) back in the early 80s. I had a lot of fun with that car! And it was my daily driver!

Pininfarina is a styling house, Abarth is a tuning house. So yes they can both influence the same car.
Yes. Quite so. Coachbuilders as they are called.

Thank you, that's nice to hear!

I was surprised to see the Lada dashboard in it, like wtf... then I realized that Lada was a Fiat, lol.

A truly beautiful car

Yup, as a European I welcome baffling and constricting government regulations, as long as they don't ruin the look of cars.

"Peena Fareena"??

A beautiful car. ❤
A car that light doesn’t need power steering.

Interesting
F....small Ferrari engine...
Nice, nice car. Thanks for the ride along.
It cannot be British Racing Green when it is an Italian car. Choose a different name. Maybe Dark Olive?
1968 Camaro's had a factory color named British racing green
Gorgeous car! Thanks for the ride...
