I love how everyone's talking about how "90's" this looks when it's obviously supposed to be based off of 20s/30s cartoons. Like I'd understand if people said it looks like cartoons from the 40s or 50s, but 90s? I dunno, I'm just not seein the connection.
It looks "90's" because that was the last decade that cartoons were hand animated with transparent cells. During the 2000s, motion tweening and flash animation took over. As an example, compare the first season of Spongebob (The one us older Zoomers are actually nostalgic for) with the new ones, or compare the animation of the original PowerPuff girls to the reboot.
Good Lord. This is truly a masterpiece, because when I was little, I grew up with the classics, including Animaniacs, Garfield, the Pink Panther, Tom and Jerry, and the Mickey Mouse Classic Shorts. Well, I am a teen, and those were just either reruns or on Netflix. And THIS,since I love Undertale to death,and this reflects off the "good ol days", my childhood is complete. i really want an undertale re imagining that's basically this. everything's bouncing and smiling and silent except for the music. which is all like this. mettaton is an old timey radio with hands. undyne is a popeye-type character with a spear sticking out of her face in place of a pipe. temmie is basically a pluto to frisk, who is already silent. there's an oswald the rabbit-like chara. alphys is like the mad doctor but more pathetic. it just writes itself.

No, it was Otto Messmer (the creator of Felix the Cat) who drew in this kind of style and almost all of the most relevant animation studios (Fleischers, Disney) started drawing like this because it was easy to animate.

No, it was Otto Messmer (the creator of Felix the Cat) who drew in this kind of style and almost all of the most relevant animation studios (Fleischers, Disney) started drawing like this because it was easy to animate.
