Great video topic. I’ve been collecting for 35 years. I own them all in mid to high grade except the for the Hulk 180 and Star Wars 1. 😅 Ironically, I started my comic book collecting hobby with a run of Star Wars given to me by my dad.
I've got ASM 129, Hulk 180 and 181. I've had giant size X-Men 1 and werewolf by night 32, but sadly sold them. IMO, this is one of your best videos. Thanks for sharing!
Great Video Dave! I prefer this type of content. I only have one comic from the list: a 6.0 of the first appearance of Blade that I got on eBay 18 years ago for around $100. Unfortunately for me, most of these books are now out of my price range.
Had them all but Hos 92 and MS. Still have 4 of 10. You ever buy comics on Live Auctions there is something going on with the sold prices way to high? Keep it up and looking forward to your next auction
Great Content. The only thing I think would be more interesting/engaging would be to reveal the pricing from the bottom up - 2012 to 2017 to 2022. It gives a better feel for the growth of these books rather than it feeling like they are going down when you are going from highest to lowest (even though that is not what is actually happening). Otherwise these videos are very informative. The graphics with the 5 and 10 year return and comparison to The Dow, S&P, etc. are very cool. Keep up the great work!
Man, no one does comic book information like this channel does. The history and data are priceless. Keep up the good work. And glad that your dog is on the mend (hopefully). Oh, and I have 9 out of 10 (no 1st Swamp Thing).
I’ve had or have all of these except for TOD 10 and Star Wars 1. Most were sold during the all time highs so I’m not too upset about not having some of them anymore.
Great video!! I only have 2 on the list Star Wars, and Ghost Rider. I’ve owned them both for over 30 years. Would definitely love to own them all but that’s not going to happen unless I win the lottery…lol. 😎
As an 80s child I would often see those Bronze age books on the LCS wall. They were unobtainable due to not having the money to get them. These books are where I spend my money these days.
Had an Amazing Spiderman 129 graded by CGC at 7.0 Think I sold it for $950. It got crushed by a forklift at the post office. Lesson: always get the insurance, which I did 🤪
I find the difference between the USA & UK markets really interesting , especially as I am English , but the amount of English writers and artists that made things happen is moving a lot of the UK stuff forward e.g. the capt britain stuff. Nunchakas and the use of, were banned in the UK for ages so the cartoons of say Thundercats had to be altered , Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, became Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles , all nunchaka depiction banned or censored etc. Whilst we only really got reprints , when we got original stories and artwork , like captain britain and spiderman in London we went nuts. In 2000 I had the chance to buy X-Men one for £650 , but like most small businesses at the time they were cash only , so by the time I returned a week later with enough cash it had been traded for other stuff. It annoyed me so much that 2 years later I took a bank loan of a £1000 to add to what I had saved to buy a comic. For £2500 I had the chance to buy ASM 129 CGC 9.8 or HULK 181 CGC 9.8 . With limited info on the internet and being a huge spidey fan I went for the ASM 129 . Not a great move financially but I love it more than Hulk as its my guy , its why I started reading comics. . As for a 20 year return , well my brain hurts , someone else can figure it out. As for my tale of woe , the huge collection I had as a kid of "REVENGE" of the jedi stuff , that went in the bin or got lent to mates is something Im still trying to block out of my memory.
Good video. IMO DC keys are way undervalued. I think that Swamp Thing is a bigger character (arguably) than Blade and Moon Knight yet his first appearance is worth so much less.
Hello, just came across this video and am intrigued. Where were you able to source the values for these sales? I assume they were auction houses and not on EBay? Thanks.
*_A note:_* *_Hulk 181, CGC 9.9, sold for $150,000 at ComicConnect in 2011._* *_If this book comes up for auction in 2024, it's a safe bet it will get $300,000+._* *_$300K is a very safe estimate, it might land on $500,000-there's only 1 Hulk 181 in the world that is a CGC 9.9._*
Can you do a specific episode some time discussing whether it makes a difference to invest in low grades vs higher grades (assuming similar prices) ? For example a GSX 1in 9.8 and AF15 in 3.0 are roughly $30k. Supply is scarce for both, but which makes a better investment?
7 out of 10 no ghost rider, house of mystery and hulk 180. No desire to pick up 180 if you already have 181. Ghost rider 1 might be more budget friendly than marvel spotlight 5. Thanks for the list. 🤗
I dont know if you will reply now but if I were to get some of these books what grade range should I get. I cannot afford 8.0s and higher on all of these 😪
It's clear ghost rider was stolen from the the 60s western. I own both first appearances (MS #5 in very high grade) but always considered the western "1st Carter appearance" the first ghost rider appearance personally.
Curious on your own personal thoughts on inc hulk 181 missing the marvel value stamp. That’s mine but otherwise looks 6.0 fine. A fair rating seems so huge IMO.
I only have two of the ten. I actually own 2 Starwars # 1 Both raw one is a Newstand the other is direct its just spiderman head in the white box. Back in the early 90's when I Bought 90 % of my collection. Another 10% was in 1989 when I bought my first comic book which was a Spectacular spider-man #1 1978 Bought 2 copys for $24 dollars Another one is The Amazing Spider-Man #129 which is a raw copy. I say it's in a 8.5 - 9.0 grade copy. Only paid $120 dollars for it the most expensive comic book I own. I don't own not 1 slab. Never got any comic books graded. Newest comicbook I own is a july 1996 Green Goblin # 10 Massacre in Murderworld. Just got my comicbooks out about a month ago started going through them for the first time in 27 years. I'm 44 years old its time to sale. I own 5 long boxes full all raw. 90% marvel. Only thing I want to keep is my Spider-Man.
I sold my moms car when she passed to buy hog 181 my family thought I was nuts because I sold the car for 3000 and I still short 1500 it was 9,0 CGC no I was laughing to the bank the car is probably worth around 500 in today’s market now I put it on my wall it is a work of art for me makes me proud when I come home and look at it I close the blinds so don’t fade
Oh I don't have any of them....I came real close to getting that Phoenix 1st appearance for like a $100 but dude got info held off selling it ....snooze you lose
