- La vallée du Queyras se situe dans le département des Hautes Alpes. Elle est traversée par le Guil, un affluent de la Durance, qui s'écoule dans des gorges très étroites. Au centre de la vallée, perché sur un piton rocheux, se trouve le fort de Chateau-Queyras dont les origines remontent au 13e siècle. Il sera renforcé par Vauban à la fin du 17e Siècle. A l'extrémité de la vallée, le village de Saint Véran est le plus haut de France à 2042 m d'altitude. Il est lui même entouré de nombreux sommets à plus de 3000 m d'altitude, dont certains marquent la frontière avec l'Italie voisine

The Queyras valley is located in the French Alps. It is crossed by the Guil river, with its very narrow gorges. The Château-Queyras fort is built on a rocky peak in the center of the valley. Its construction began in the 13th century and was completed at the end of the 17th century. At the end of the valley, the village of Saint Véran is the highest in France at 2042 m above sea level. It is surrounded by numerous peaks over 3000m high, some of which mark the border with Italy.

Magnifique vallée que j'ai pu decouvrir en 1977 lors d'une randonnée de deux semaines. Les journées les plus dures en terme de dénivelé positif furent entre Ceillac et St Véran par le col des Estronques et St Véran col Agnel par le Col St Véran avec des banc neigeux très glissants pour la descente vers le refuge. J'en fais encore des cauchemars . Quecde souvenirs... merci pour ces belles vues.
