The whole dinner scene was fantastically done to me. From them being initially joyful at the sight of the food and stuffing their faces in to the food turning sour once they realize this WILL be their last meal & them not even touching their food after that realization. All of it was well done!
I'm honestly surprised that no one else was suspicious that they were suddenly being treated to a good meal after being fed nothing but slop and stale bread for so long.
Just when I thought Hopper couldn't be MORE of a badass, he goes and tells full grown tough Russian men a scary story and at the end of it made them feel like children at a sleepaway camp (so to speak)
They think Hopper passed out from the vodka, but what he was really up to was getting out of sight of the guard so he could steal the alcohol to fight the demigorgon. They make fun of him while hoppers being a badass.
While I love how badass hooper was here I really loved the Russian’s POV on the monster and how he genuinely wanted to work wit the guys as a team to survive another day. And the way he delivers the story was amazing
At first I thought that this is the reason that the Russian demogorgon didn’t teleport away, because it gets the thrill of a hunt. But then I realized it’s because there’s no gate here, Alexei said it himself that the fabric between the two worlds was so thin in Hawkins, that’s why the flayed Demogorgon could, I believe that Vecna was using all of his power at the time on that Demogorgon which is what allowed it to teleport and to be able to telekinetically unlock the door when it took Will. I’ve spent the last three years theorizing on this.
I believe in the first part of your theory, or maybe the fact that it's never known how or couldn't because it was still young compared to the first demo, though I doubt vecna was fully controlling the demogorgon at the time, he needed to open the big portal the entire time. Besides the demo also feasted on deer and acted like an animal. It's a very Grey area on when vecna was pulling the strings or not but specifically in this issue why the demo couldn't teleport was either because it simply didn't need too, and it already had a "home" to feast on its prey. I suspect the demos were then flayed once the particles in the Russian base was missing
@@dinogamergaming that’s exactly what happened, so this demogorgon along with the demodogs were all captured as demodogs back in hawkins but they were all put in cryo/frozen, except for the Russian demodog that grew into the demogorgon, cuz if it was a demogorgon when it was captured in hawkins it would’ve been able to teleport. So while the other es were frozen this one grew up
As soon as they entered this room I just knewwww, I immediately thought of prisoners on death row who got to have a final good meal before having their life ended just moments later
I loved this part I had chills while hopper explained what really was going on and the little detail that made this scene more amazing was when after hop explained what was gonna happen everyone stopped eating
It is just adorable to hear clear russian speech without accent, because for Hollywood it is so rare. I am glad that Duffers and whole team of serial made such a great job!
The six that went in, one got killed when the Demogorn jumped on him. The second was killed whilst duelling the Demogorn and it slashed his face. The third was Oleg, the Russian telling the story, who tried to escape the pit and was killed by the Demogorn, who grabbed him and devoured his head. Then Hopper and Dmitri made their escape, whilst the fourth prisoner battled the Demogorn for about three seconds before being killed.
This ost adds like +1000 aura to this scene. Hopper who once knew nothing about the Upside Down now sharing his experience with a cold expression, demonstrating that he's seen some shit back in time, and now he's that character that delivers some creepy and mystical stuff to others and the fact we've literally seen how he came through this way through all the seasons just something else. Hard to describe what kind of feeling it brings to me but i absolutely like it
This scene is so fucking cool. Prob one of my faves in all of season 4, the rest of them hearing about the demogorgon and the upside down theme playing... MAN, it doesn't get better
I really wish they played ''The Upside Down'' theme in this scene (now that i think about it, they didn't use that theme in this season at all), but this scene still gives me chills without it
i love the fact that when Hopper crushed the thing with the hammer thingy everyone jumped a bit cuz they were so scared of what Hopper was saying to them
@@annwatchman6885 born in East Germany and was forced to learn Russian in school. I have friend that grew up there before the wall fell. They were all forced to learn Russian.
Russian is a very difficult language to learn, such subtle differences in pronunciation, & some sounds just so unique to Russian, I am attempting to learn, but being an English speaker, I find it difficult. It is a language best learnt from childhood I think.

"could have gotten the information" is an odd way to word it. he literally raised the one person whod interacted with it the most, Eleven. in fact hes close with everyone else who dealt with it, including relations to the Lab/Owens, so knowing info abt it is a given. especially given hes the defacto leader at the end of 1 and 2. in terms of wording, i think its understandable he wouldnt get specific to the point of "i know cause im friends with people who fought em, i technically fought quadrapedal ones". and its also just less convincing to the russians. so simplifying it is reasonable imo. so in general, i disagree that him having the information is an issue. and his wording, though technically incorrect, is a reasonable generalisation of events for the character to make.
