100% these are bought ads. My husband worked for a company that would pay magazines to put their product on "best of" lists. It's all just fake.

Yep why else would the "best" products also continuously have their ads plastered all over the pages. It's painful how much of magazines is just advertising to people who don't know better.
I cannot speak directly for Allure, but I work for a magazine in a totally different field, and no one gets an award for being a paying customer in our annual program. They may happen to be an advertiser, but ad placements are based on our sales team reaching out to create additional revenue based on the buzz of the company winning an award. It's standard marketing. So unless someone can specifically confirm Allure's backroom policy, I guess don't assume...?

Magazines are ads. The placement of formal ads is to give the reader a definitive beginning and end to the ad itself: the reader will continue on leisurely without suspicion and the negative connotations that come with ads. It’s the perfect way to covertly sell products.
The “best of” list is simply a who paid to have their products mentioned list. There are many former employees that have talked about this industry and how deceptive it is.
It’s exactly the same with the better business bureau. The companies just pay to be in the group and on the list. It does not guarantee quality work.

Basically the “paying Allure to get on the list” list. Make your own list lol I mean, Maybelline as the BEST drugstore palette? So Colourpop doesn’t exist in their reality? lol Elf recs are on point. I’m almost out of the same concealer (even the same shade) lol I have oily skin and use Elf’s HD setting powder and the Nyx matte spray. Great combo.
Exactly! I mean so many drugstore brand have been making killer palette, revolution, w7, etc Mascara, essence for the win, their mascaras are bomb. I just dont trust any of their recommendations

I wonder if they only look at products that are actually at the drugstore (Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc.) and not the drugstore priced items at Ultas or online

Yes!! That gel liner is my favorite! It’s amazing! Completely waterproof, cry-proof, rainproof, all that. It says on. I love it for my long shifts. It doesn’t budge.
Go platinum blonde with a shadow root. I think you would look beautiful with platinum blonde I mean you already beautiful but I think it would suit you so good maybe with a little bit of a shadow root. 😍😍 BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Her skin is thin with red undertones. Without makeup she'd look too inflamed, and who wants to do makeup everyday just to match your hair.
I think you should dye the ends a fun color like purple!

I was wondering what you think of doing a best of the best drugstore makeup video. Something where you pick your top 5 drugstore foundations, top 5 concealers, top 5 bronzers and so on. I'm constantly re-watching your videos trying to narrow down what you've used and I think it would be really helpful if you did a breakdown of your top favorites in each category! As always you look beautiful.

Lash blast Volume used to be my JAM! It’s definitely one of those formulas that needs a few days to dry out a bit before it builds on itself. But, even better than that formula is the Covergirl Clump Crusher, but the water resistant formula- SO good and builds on itself from day 1. The wand is a banana shape so it lifts the lashes when you apply, then you can flip it over the add more layers if needed. Been buying it for years and I always go back to it ☺️
I like the cheek heat blush, but I use it on bare skin (a little concealer under my eyes but no foundation) and I find it looks nice and natural. I prefer it for no foundation then most powder blushes that add a finish which I don’t prefer when I’m going for more of a no makeup makeup look, but I don’t like it that much when I’m wearing foundation because it doesn’t sit as well and I find it doesn’t give me enough color.
Honestly that powder made you look completely flawless and smooth on camera at the start of the day. That lip color was stunning on you!!
I think you should stay with the same hair colors (blonde with darker roots) as it suits you so much and maybe get some side bangs. Anything suits you though, you soooo priddy 🥰
I honestly think the Maybelline cheek heat is meant for women that don't wear foundation and just want a sheer flush of color because I personally love it! I have the shade 'nude burn' but I don't wear foundation or anything like that on my face so it looks so natural and pretty!
The elf liquid glitter eyeshadows are my FAVES!!! If you want to see a few videos on them I have a couple on my channel I really am obsessed with them, I’m for sure going to be wearing one on my wedding day the colours are amazing and the glitter pay off is outstanding! My personal fave is the colour flirty birdy 🥰🥰🥰
Also the lip product... also a firm fave of mine! Mentioned that exact colour in a video of my top five lipsticks for autumn/ fall 😍

I used to love Allure magazine before I found RUclips beauty channels. Now I realize how many products they don't even try. It's just a big ad for mainstream products. I've learned so much more from RUclips.

Sis, any colour would look good on you, may I suggest a bangs instead? Like a cute bangs, when the hair not that much, just a touch, so when u feel stuffy u can just hide it to the side 😍
The best of beauty breakthroughs had some really great ones. The Guide Beauty Guide Wand in particular has proven not only beautiful but also incredibly helpful for the tremors in my hands. Seriously! I can apply wings again!
I love the cheek heat with the Rare beauty blush. I basically put a bit of both on my hand. The color payback is then better but it keeps the more sheer effect (like a second skin). I like the cheek heat alone for a very natural look though. But it is hard to build up.
I love that maybelline gel blush! I put it on a small amount with the small elf stipple brush (work quickly) and then blend the edges with a sponge. And I find the lightest, purpley pink shade looks best on me. I love it, it lasts forever on my skin and looks so healthy and much more natural than powder blush.
I'm literally doing my seasonal makeup bag switch out/teeny declutter, this is the perfect watching!
I noticed that I was losing a lot of eyelashes after wearing the cover girl mascara for a while. It becomes pretty concrete and hard to get off. Just as a heads up to anyone who is thinking about buying it.😊
Ditch the mascara and try falscara. I am so happy and less work I do my makeup in 5 minutes now.

Curtain bangs are great because they're already cut to a longer step with your hair, so you can grow them out more easily. Is love to see you with a cool tone brunette look!
Honestly I think your theory about just a couple of higher ups liking certain products and that’s how they make the list is probably pretty solid because I feel like the RUclips beauty community has a lot of favorite products that come up over and over again and sometimes they’re on the list but a lot of times they’re products like no one is talking about are. Like when’s the last time anyone used that cover girl mascara (please don’t come for me cover girl mascara stans)?
Milani 2in1 foundation is amazing so full coverage well it is concelor as well as foundation beautiful finish if you like full coverage

You need to try Quo Beauty!!! Shoppers completely redid their beauty line! I’m in love with the cream blush and brow gel!! From what I tried everything is amazing and a lot of people are comparing it to Glossier
The maybeline cheek heat blush works best tapped on with a duo fiber brush like the elf 105, i use it almost every day
Keep the same color BUT do some light airy BANGS bangs. Like across the forehead but piece-y and light. I think you can rock it and look CHIC AF.

I like best so far the elf camo. I've tried all of the products with my oily skin and so far it lasts long and recovers well if I touch up vs reapply.

Hello, I love your channels, mostly cooking with Chris, the 2 of you always make me smile. I heard of this new product and I don’t think you’ve covered it before. Hair mascara, a few different companies make it. It’s supposed to take care of all those whispeys (be quiet google that’s a word) of hair that’s too short to put into a pony and they always escape. This hair mascara comes in different shades. I can’t help but feel that it is like hair spray in a mascara tube. I ordered some, but would like to see you cover it. Rachel, I don’t follow any make up channels but yours and of course suggestions for my Halloween🍎 makeup. Watching you gave me the confidence to go buy good makeup brushes. I wish you would do a video on what brush you should use for what product. Thanks for being you and making a dark world a little less dark.

Funny story about glitter- I wore a super glittery gown to my brothers wedding, and got glitter positively EVERYWHERE! All over my face and body, my family members, the car... it was hilarious (and embarrassing) 🤣
I love the CG mascara however it works much better in my opinion after it has been opened for some time. Maybe like a week or so that way it has time to be a little bit dryer and it really adds volume then.
I use the cheek heat with the Elf domed stipple brush and it works pretty good with that. It really isn't pigmented though and there are better ones out there for the same price or cheaper.
That powder is AMAZING! I use the tan shade as a bronzer and highly recommend

i had the same experience with the cheek heat blush. but i tried it again the other day and applied it with a fluffy brush and i got some better results
Rachel, maybe try long-ish feathery bangs? Shorter near the middle of your eyebrows, longer and face-framing near the temples?
Back in the 90s I was only allowed to use clear mascara. Well, I used it on my brows and got black/brown so my parents couldn’t tell. The clear mascara worked great!!! I had huge brows. I had never waxed or tweezed them.
I love the Maybelline cheek heat cream blushes...they work well for me but i also do not wear foundation so that may be why and i use my fingers to apply.
I feel like the mascara looks great on the lower lashes, but left the top lashes looking spiky. Love the lip color really brought out the blue of your eyes!
You should go darker it would make your eyes pop!
I'd love to see you with darker hair, but not too dark. I'd go with a light brown shade that's not too warm. I like the length. And no bangs. Getting bangs always seems like the simplest way to change a hair style but somehow quickly become a regret.

I use a flat dense brush for cream blush. Especially for that specific one you're using, because I was having the same issue with my fingers and sponge.

I actually like that cream blush! I always put it on the back of my hand and warm it up with my finger, dab my beauty blender in it and apply it that way! It’s definitely a more subtle blush but it never gets patchy on me! Maybe try it that way ! :)

I used to love that covergirl mascara, it was my go-to through high school and college. I had corrective eye surgery a few years back and ever since, my eyes cannot stand the silicone spikey wands.
