  • The edge of intimacy is the beginning and end of life. Paradise.
    That’s the topic.
    Meanwhile I was asked in a DM about the production. FWIW;
    Taylor six string acoustic mic’s and a hollow body electric direct in to a Reaper DAW accompanied by a score written in GP4 and rendered to a Roland 1024 with each instrument recorded on separate tracks.
    Mono vocals duplicated to allow wide pan. One lead vocal and one harmony. No auto tuning.
    Same treatment for acoustic guitar. One pass, one duplicated track panned hard left and right.
    One track lead electric.
    Orchestrated with brass, strings, French horn and English horn.
    Bass: two tracks of one picked bass and one acoustic bass doubling the same part. It’s an old trick from the 60s to get a bass with more bottom but sharp attack used when heavily orchestrated. Panned about 15 degrees left and right.
    Keys: Rhodes in introduction then acoustic piano to end.
    Percussion: two tracks. a tango clave beat, and a track of shaker and stick.
    That’s it. The progression makes liberal use of add2, sus4, ninth and dominant 7 with maj and minor 7s and a diminished passing chord. So a slow light jazz folk tango.
