Ma Te gets so much mileage out of doing creative things with the pips: sideswipes, punches, twiddling to forehand chop with the pips instead of the inverted, etc. None of these are unique to him, of course - Chen Weixing did a lot of sideswipes, Joo did some punches, Koji Matsushita liked to twiddle on a lot of his FH chops, etc. - but on the balance he does more 'weird pips stuff' effectively than any other high-level defender in recent memory. It's a pity he doesn't get to play outside of China much.
Ma Te brings variety to an increasingly monoclonal Chinese attacking game. China needs more Wang Xi, Ruwen Filus, more Gionis, and fewer juniors doing nothing more than emulating the top-5 attackers, although maybe Moregardh has given them fresh ideas.
Check out Sun Young. U15 defensive player from China. He is great to watch and already won a WTT Youth contender this year. China continues to develop defensive players to this date
Ma Te has put on some weight over the past few years. It's probably just normal muscular development but defensive players cannot afford to have any extra weight on them.
Ma Te the chopper dancer . Light and Effective, really good 👍🏽

Ma Te retired from the Chinese National Team. You won’t see him on the international scene due to that reason
@@TTDefender but now there is a good chance for Me Te to play in European clubs.
What an interesting match! Games 1 and 3 being so close yet 2 4 and5 just being completely dominated by either Ma or Leng

This style doesn’t win championships is how a lot of them see it. They see it as mostly a training partner not someone who can become a star.
