Even after all these years, Michael Athony's bass playing and harmonies are still absolutely top-notch. You cannot have that signature Van Halen sound without him.
Gtfo..... no offence to Mike but you think the Van Halen signature sound is Mikes bass and back up vocals??? Son.... the signature Van Halen sound.... is Eddie's guitar.
It's hard to replicate another musician sound. Eddie sound is forever in our heart, mind and soul. But Satriani is great as well different player, he's not Eddie. Love them both. I'm sure Satch will be modest and humble covering Eddie's tunes, to be sure to honor him.
I just saw Sammy a few weeks ago in Florida. Great show, fantastic set. However, the idea of him and Mikey doing a "deep dive" into the VH catalog with Joe? This is going to be incredible.
I saw The Circle at the new "Sound" amphitheater in Clearwater and they were awesome. I see Sam every time he tours here in Florida and this was one of his best. It's hard to believe he just turned 76 last month!
Four keys to the Van Halen sound: Eddie's guitar playing, Alex's drumming, plus the sound of his snare, and Michael's harmonies. If you can duplicate that, you've got pure magic. Is this spot on VH? No, but theyll get my money for a ticket!
Got my tix. I can’t wait!!!!!! Unfortunately this is the closest we will ever get to another Van Halen show. It’s the best substitute I can imagine. Respect to Joe and Jason. Joe is putting his own spin on it which I love!!
Jesus. Jason is rock royalty. (And that shirt!) Joe was born with a guitar in his hands. Sammy sounds unbelievably perfect. But What about Mike? How is he still doing what he does? Thundering bass and the voice!!!!!
You can find a recording on RUclips of Van Halen back in their club days with Dave - covering a Sammy song! It was from Montrose, “Make It Last.” Great stuff.
Mikey, you're so good it's unbelievable. Joe is fantastic, and no, he's not Ed. Ed was one of a kind, a once-in-a-millennium kind of soul. Nobody else is Ed. But that said, Joe sounds great and I love how much he gets into playing Ed's stuff. He's having a ball with it, and that's because of how brilliant Ed's music was.
He defintley does his stuff justice, he ain't just doing the leads great but his rythym playing is great to which is something that kinda gets underlooked a bit when it comes to eddie's playing.
I cant remember when Chickenfoot started but i was always hoping sammy and mike would play more of the VH stuff with Satriani. This tour is gonna be awesome.
I can't WAIT to see this tribute show!!! Sammy and Michael sound just the amazing same as they always have!!! Jason is a great drummer and great backing vocalist, and Joe Satriani is DEFINITELY the one to play lead guitar! Perfect Band for this!!!
I really enjoyed Joe's slightly harder sound on this song. Can't put my finger on exactly what it is because I'm not schooled in music tech, but it was freakin awesome! This is going to be an amazing spectacle to behold.
I thought the same, I think Joe's guitar tone here is a little different than Eddie's, Joe's being more mid rangy than Eddie's , still sounds great and Joé is such an amazung player, but I think he didn't tried to mimick Eddie's exact tone
I died laughing when Stern asks Joe "That shits hard to play". With all due repect to the GREAT EDDIE; I can not think of another Guitar God to help fill his shoes.

@@bobabooey4537 There's a lot of things that go in to that signature sound. I'd argue that Alex's snare sound is very much a part of it.
without Mike, no Van Halen
@@bobabooey4537 It’s not Van Halen vocals without Mike’s harmonies.
100%
I absolutely lost it when I heard Michael’s harmonies in this take! 😮 my word he still has it. they all sound phenomenal!
Let's all give Satch some huge props. Yes. He's not Eddie but he's such a phenomenal guitar player. A great fit for this tour. He'll do EVH proud.
And remember this is with no rehearsal. He did great
Didn't impress me at all.
He,s better!!!!

As if we needed proof to how central those Michael Anthony harmonies were to the Van Halen/Hagar sound. Just incredible.
MGTOW
Mikey’s definitely the secret ingredient. I lost a lot of interest in VH when Michael left the band.
Mike sings Somebody Get Me A Doctor by himself in Sammy’s band, and did when Cherone was in VH

@@detroitdiezel7856 Sammy will be in Tampa (Mid-Florida Amphitheater) in July of next year.
Michael Anthony's harmonies are so killer. Underrated (and absolutely critical) member of VH.

A.I. will probably get that down in 50 years. 🤔
@@danielduplantier3741 What did I forget?
Well said- got mine already!
@@eako2107which venue? Got my Red Rocks tix here.
Forgot Dave's voice and attitude and artistic vision.
Bonham’s drumming is so amazing, incredible talent.
I have no idea why he brought an electronic kit unless they’re using the samples from Alex’s era kits. Either way the cymbals sound amateur
@@MrZepLedder No way. There's a lot of stuff from Howard Stern's show that features a full drum kit
wow Joe and Jason are nailing it! This tour is gonna be incredible
Totally!!!

Joe is beyond amazing, it's hard to listen and not realize how unique and perfect EVH was. Definitely a great choice for this project. Take my money!

What an incredible lineup. Rock is alive in these mofos!
Satriani is too good for this basic radio rock shit.

So great. I'm sittin' here watchin/listening and realize that I'm smiling from ear to ear.
Same
Absolutely, me...too!
Me too! This tour is gonna be awesome.
💯👍
There is so much joy that comes out from this music and the way they are playing
Sammy is the real thing! His voice is as good as it’s ever been and I bet rarely anyone would guess his real age if you didn’t know it!!!
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
You can find a recording on RUclips of Van Halen back in their club days with Dave - covering a Sammy song! It was from Montrose, “Make It Last.” Great stuff.
Sounds good even 40 years after the song was released. Good tunes are timeless.

that's accurate- Ed is a unicorn- one of a kind- Satch is a truly talented technique master, its just not gonna be Ed
Joe is also a one in a millennium kind of guitar player so maybe there’s two…
@@sokool86Lightning struck them both. Joe is doing Eddy and his spirit quite well.
Great job Satriani! There’s only one Eddie Van Halen and there’s only one Joe Satriani!
Seen Satriani on a ChickenFoot tour and he just killed it
He defintley does his stuff justice, he ain't just doing the leads great but his rythym playing is great to which is something that kinda gets underlooked a bit when it comes to eddie's playing.
Johnny beane!
Very few players could fill those shoes and Satch is a very acceptable choice.
Satch is an all-time player... and yet still nobody matches Eddie's rhythm chops. Just absolutely singular.
The greatest thing to me with Van Halen is you get two amazing bands!!! Thank you Van Halen!!!
I cant remember when Chickenfoot started but i was always hoping sammy and mike would play more of the VH stuff with Satriani. This tour is gonna be awesome.
Michaels vocals are just so friggin good
They sound awesome for their age. Excellent. The addition of Satriani is gold!!

This sounds amazing!! Oooo it’ll be awesome if Satch has a Frankenstein striped Ibanez guitar in honor of Eddie! 😮
Sammy and Mike are the best singing duo in any band I’ve ever seen and listen to.
Joes the consummate professional… I’m guessing he’s gonna take this task very seriously 😊
Joe needs a TransTrem Steinberger for these songs. Great to hear Joes take on the song though. Eddie was such a magician with the guitar.
it's Joe doing Joe with Eddie's music, no complaints from me!!
That's what you call a Supergroup!!!
I love Sammy Hagar
Van Halen ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This line up is killer
Michael Anthony is absolutely has an amazing harmonies.
Michael Anthony can still hit those harmonies 😲 Absolutely amazing. Cannot wait to see this show!
It's ridiculous how good this sounds
Love JOE Warming up his fingers unamplified in the background......... Nice stuff with Mike first meeting Sammy...
Folks, just understand that Satriani is improvising here... wait until he's fully rehearsed... this is going to be EPIC! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love the bonding of Sammy and Michael .. gotta see this show !! I love Joe and Jonathan !!!
This tour will be awesome they sound great together!
Yes!
Come on Baby!!!! Joe sounds amazing as well as the whole band. Wow !!!!
I love Sammy in Van Halen, for me the best time of the band!!! Just love it!!!

Oh C'mon , there are hundred's of players that sound closer to Edward. Not saying Satch isn't a great guitarist but this is not his thing .
@@herbcanter2114 Agreed
Joe sounds great here
Damn they are so good .Joe Satriani is such a ridiculously good player. I loved when he and Sammy were working together in Chickenfoot.
Love the electronic drums. Perfect sound every time, no muss, no fuss.
Satch has def got more distortion cranked for his tone than Ed. It sounds great on this tune.
Love all the fills and bits of improv, def EVH spirit!
I think it sounds incredible!! God damn they sound good!!!
Awesome !!!! more volume to the drums please !!!! Nice to see Jose Satriani there !!!! thanks for sharing !!!
Them harmonies..wow
We can actually hear and feel the bass - finally! 🎉
finally ?
Bass has always been pretty prominent in VH songs.
@@TheAgentAssassinNot in Van Hagar songs!
Joe Satriani channeling his surfing with the alien vibe on this one! Loved it
Just bought my tickets for the july show! Cant wait to these boys in Action 🤘
Sammy and Mike sound fantastic
This is what Howard is GREAT at. Asking the question you want asked. ROCK ON!!!!!!❤❤❤
Love it and Joe you are Rippin brutha🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸🎸I would love to see this lineup in Japan 🎸🎸🎸
Joe is awesome here i would go see this if they come my way
Eddie's spirit with Joe's magic touch, beautiful! This song is killer! ❤️🖤🤍
The Q&A is killing Joe! He's thinking 'I got up at 0-dark-30, I want to play!!
3rd row tickets 🎉 for Michigan show
Caras, Obrigado por ainda estarem nos palcos. Não esqueçam do Brasil 🇧🇷. 🤟🏻🫶🏻
Them vocals of Michael Anthony's are freakin awesome, he and Sammy are a perfect match!! This is the perfect band 😎😎😎
Satch sound is very distinctive. I could recognize it anywhere at any song. 🤘🏼
Damn, This show is gonna be incredible! What a lineup!
Sam still has it!!
It's great to see Satch out there doing it in a band context
Havent been able to stop listening to this for a week bought our tickets tonight WOW JOE & JASON 💪💪💪👊
Bravo Satch !!
I think it’s great Satriani isn’t going for note for note copy.
Sammy and Mike are in better form than in the 80s dang ❤
holy shit. I'm listening to the talking whilst working. "We can play that if you want us to?"... was not expecting what came next! 😆
I seriously wish Michael Anthony had made a solo record at some point with him on lead vox
Got my tickets!!!!!!!! Cannot wait for this!!
3:30 best part of the song 😄👌
Satriani is killing it! 👏👏👏👏😝🤘
they wanted #PattySmyth first. They all stick with the Sammy story.
da kid on guitar is awesome. bet he has load of students from metalica to alcatraz. good kid. n handsime too.
All these years later an They still got it! Love it ! Go Sammy !
I hope I can figure how to make it to a date. How about adding Pensacola where you started the Balance tour on MTV, PLEASE!!!?!
Holy Houses!!! Is that Jason B on the drums?????
Greatest first song of any album
03:31 it's funny Sammy and Michael didn't expect Joe did the effect Eddie had done
"That shits hard to play. I mean come on." 😂😂
I'm sure Joe found that amusing, since obviously it's easy for him.
I died laughing when Stern asks Joe "That shits hard to play". With all due repect to the GREAT EDDIE; I can not think of another Guitar God to help fill his shoes.
It would be great to see them. Donate some of the proceeds of this tour to Eddie’s favorite charity Mr. Holland opus.
Hearing Mike I get goosebumps. Damn!!!!
Michael Anthony! Wow! I would go see this lineup for sure!
Satch does a great job with that!!
Can't wait for this show in Nashville!
And it was AMAAAAAAZING
Joe's the best person for Eddie's spot period
Great job sammy and band !❤
I love this clip because Howard Stern has no idea what he just witnessed! That being greatness.
Satch sounding great! He's been around awhile himself he taught Kurt Hammond and Steve Vai to play
Imagine if Satch had joined Metalica instead...
Forget that... I wouldn't have ever heard, "Flying in a Blue Dream".
You mean Kirk Hammet
Satch and Eddie - Stylistically different gods but effin hell Satch is delivering!!!
YOU SAID IT!! 🎉🎉
This one gave me chills!
Howard: “That shits hard to play I mean come on!”
Michael Anthony: ”laughs”
Wow, Satriani slays , Eddie Van Halen’s riffs …
slays? Hardly , he's great but he does lack that little swing that Ed has
Lol nice joke. To my ear there's a huge difference in how they sound. Eddie is impossible to replicate.
Satriani is killing that stuff...this is cool.
This Circlefoot band is really good.
I want Sammy's life. Dude's been killing it for decades.
Humildade monstra de Joe !!!
