      Love the Shimoda E25 in green. Planning for a sakura trip in late March with E25, I just wonder if the capacity is ok for a Canon 5D3 with RRS grip, a 17-40/f4, a 24-70/f2.8, a 70-200/f4, and a Rubinar 300/f4.5, thinking to get 3 of them packed in E25 if 4 is not possible.

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns  Год назад

      @@Eericfong @Eric Fong 5D with grip will be too big for Mirrorless Core Units. You'll need a bag that takes the DSLR depth. Which means the E35. otherwise you will deal with the camera sticking out some. Best to check the actual camera dimensions with grip and compare to the Core Unit's internal depth.

    Love the Shimoda bags and now I own three, E30L V1, E30L V2 and E35L V2. One thing I’ve found though is when planning space for camera bodies the additional size of a camera body with an L- bracket has not really be taken into account for mirrorless core units. Inserts should be slightly deeper to make room for this essential camera body add-on IMHO. Not as big an issue for DSLR core units I use in the E30L v1 and E35L V2. I’ve been thinking of adding a E25L V2 and it not clear if in a small mirrorless core unit my Sony A7x or A1 will fit with L bracket for Small Rig, Kirk, or ReallyRightStuff I always include to support tripod work. I notice your videos never show an L-bracket on any bodies. Please consider these an essential add on.😊

    • @chrish2879
      @chrish2879 Год назад +2

      Completely agree with this. My Canon R6 with L-bracket is just slightly too tall for the medium mirrorless core unit and cannot really be pulled out of the side access. That isn't so much of an issue as I'm not likely to be using an L-bracket if accessing the camera though the side, but it's one less feature of the bag to use. But my overall comment on the E30L is the core unit is too small. I can only just get my R6, 14-35, 24-105 and 70-200 in it, and only if the 14-35 is attached to my camera, which is probably not the lens I'd want attached by default. In hindsight I wish I'd bought the E35L which would have given me the extra height for the L-bracket and allowed me to store lenses vertically instead of lying down.

      I’ve been going back and forth with 30L (large mirrorless) vs 35L (large dslr) AND color, black vs green. Initially, chose black 35L and started questioning if it was too big and possibly too cumbersome. So, switched to 30L in green (because I like green). Then I watched ANOTHER video on a compact motorized slider I ordered which fits nicely in backpacks. And, subsequently switched back to the 35L large dslr model. After much thought and second guessing, watching RUclips videos, my final verdict; you can always pack smaller with big, but never pack bigger with small. (Plan is to purchase smaller inserts to pack smaller). And, you can (will, probably, likely, maybe-lol) always just buy another Shimoda bag. Hope this helps others still trying to make a decision.

The bigger a bags footprint the more comfort it offers (IMO). The more weight in a smaller area, the less comfort you will experience. The E25 IMO is a very good size for minimal days (relative you your torso size).
