I recently picked up a stack of 1960's American Rifleman magazines at a yard sale. The back pages make me drool. M1 Carbines- $60, Mauser's- $25, Walther PP's $49, Mk 4 Enfield's- $19. And all shipped right to your door. For the incredible sum of $5.

John Sykora I know man. The bright side is, there are some crazy deals NOW. Mosins, Yugo SKS's, ect. They may not seem cheap now, but wait 20 years. I bought a Mosin M44 12 years ago for a big box store.........for $75. They had dozens. Current price is $250+. Imagine if I had bought 20, or 50 of them.

@@thetobaccoguy1751 man that's so true. A store near me(it was a gander mountain but it was a special gander mountain that was mainly a gun store to compete with Cabela's) had crates of Mauser 98ks and also regular k98s for between $80 and $200 for a really nice one. To this day I kick myself for not getting one. Would have made a good hunting rifle.

I was at a museum and they had an old sears catalog. Early 1900s. You could get guns for a few bucks. Smith revolvers were like $5-6

My grandpa has an example of a great buy and a regret. His good buy was a Colt Anaconda .44 Mag he bought for grizzly defense while hunting in Montana. He bought it for $600 and has only fired about ten rounds through it. He has the original box and paperwork. He went into a gun store and told the guy about it. Apparently there is a waiting list years long for them and they run about $3000 in ok condition. He has NO intention of selling it. It has become his deer gun. He regrets, however, not picking up an M1 Garand when he could have.

This will continue to be true for a long time to come. When I turned 18 in 1991, I purchased from WalMart a Savage Arms .22lr bolt action rifle for $120. I was young and foolish and didn't take very good care of the gun, I stored it poorly. It became rusted and pitted. I used emery cloth to sand the rust off. Within 5 years of purchase the gun looked terrible although it still functioned perfectly. 20 years later I dug the gun out of storage to trade in at Gander Mtn towards the purchase of a new gun. I was expecting to get $20 maybe $30 for it. The gunsmith inspected the gun and I quote..."Unfortunately, due to the poor condition we are only able to offer you $100 for this rifle." I sold it in a heartbeat and felt pretty smart. After the sale, I related to the employee that I had purchased the gun new 20 years earlier for only $120. The employee told me that Savage Arms reputation has improved significantly over the last decade. He also told me that the gunsmith would check the gun for function, clean it up, and it would be sold for between $180 and $220. I didn't feel so smart after he told me that.

I have had a lot of gun hindsight in the last few month and I have only been buying since 2007 so I missed all the wonderful opportunities you guys had in the 1980's. I was talking with a friend of mine and we agreed that if we had the hot tub time machine we would have gone back to the 80's to buy a few things. 1) get Fully Automatic weapons. 2) Get a lot of AR-15's and Chinese AK's converted to full Auto. 3) Pre-order famas sporters before they first got to the US. 4) Purchase a ton of Gold.

Learned the hard way about keeping your tank filled up. Storm came through and knocked out power to the whole town for 4 days. I was on empty and planned to fill up after work. Storm hit before I could and I had to drive 20 miles to the north where the storm didn't hit to get fuel. Waited in line for 20 minutes because I wasn't the only one who needed gas.

I'm from IL as well. They're widely available at most mom and pop gun shops throughout the state. If you can't find them there, the big box outdoor stores (which should ALWAYS be a last resort) like Cableas and Bass Pro usually have them for a bit higher price. I bought mine last year from my local FFL for just over 100.

I was just talking about this with my buddy. I wish I'd bought those K-31's with accessories back when they were cheap because the ammo is still out there. A few more Mosin Nagants and SKS's wouldn't have hurt, either. He wishes he'd have had more invested in AR's, but in NY we're sort of up the creek on that. Great video!

Pistol and rifle shooters crave smart decent people in their sport and everyone I have talked with a Moss Pawn and gun are like that. No one wants creepy people near a firearm or on youtube . You guys are a joy to watch and listen to.

Man I love ya'lls page, info, guns, gripes, heck all of it! Thanks for being a shining light for the 2nd Amendment & how important it is... especially in these troubling days. Days that I NEVER thought would come to THIS nation! You both rock! Thanks....

You guys are My #1 youtube channel. Its like christmas final arrived, everytime you guys post a new episode. That being said, since history has a crazy way of repeating its self, i would have to predict that 2 more of those hind sight guns are going to be the AR-15 (obvious) but also the hi-point carbine. think about it, mass produced and cheap, bet the price of them spikes in the next 30 years.

Finale! A great video! It's been a while since you've had something that interested me! Great job guys. Also, I even watch the videos that don't interest me, just because I'm dedicated to your Chanel. I have been here since the first gun gripe. That was the first video I have watched of your.

My dad has a 60's or 70's Remington Scoremaster Model 511 that he bought for $29 at Sears-I believe. It is a .22 with a 48ish inch barrel with an old Tasco sight on it, and that thing is a TACK DRIVER.
    Outshoots my 10/22 any day.

3 different types of 22 came into my local Walmart in 3 days this week. My store is located in a small rural area. It might be getting better folks.

I remember racks of 91/30s at $39 back about 20 years ago, along with the $69 SKS's and the pallet loads of the Chinese case lots of ammo.

Bought my first deer rifle (a .303 British Enfield #4 Mark1) for $12.00 at the age of 14. There were plenty of Mausers, Springfields, and others for comparable prices. Shooter Lugers were $8.00 each, with a box of ammo thrown in free.

Can't wait for the ammo longetivity video! I'm planning on buying ammo in bulk for guns I plan to buy IN THE FUTURE just to be safe because with the whole 2014 thing coming up NY is gonna be locked down for guns :(. Anyways thank you guys SO much, I appreciate these videos more than I can put in words. Its nice to have one source that I can trust to deliver advice on anything gun related.
