From an operational perspective, London flights are in high demand and LHR is slot/gate restricted. It's more a case of operating a larger aircraft with a higher pax capacity, regardless of its range capability (especially for premium cabins, A35K has 3rd most J seats in the QR fleet).

they even operate a35ks to dubai, muscat, riyadh etc. which are hour long flights, it all comes down to demand
