Many thanks for your videos Tony. Just a trivial comment. There used to be showers at the west portal of the Connaught tunnel for the use of the Glacier CP employees. BTW. I have
Mountain Subdivision timetables from 1913 and 1983. There a person can see
how times have changed by the number of trains including passenger trains and train order stations.

Thats very interesting, there are still bunkhouses at the west end of the tunnel so they must still get used occasionally

Great video Tony. Haven't been in Canada for a long time and it's great to see the Rockies in all their Winter splendour. I travelled by Train from Montreal to Vancouver fifty years ago. A memorable trip ! It's a bit sad to see the old passenger stations being demolished now, as they were daily hives of activity back in the old days. Do you know when the station at Revelstoke was decommissioned? I've been trying to get some info on it, but haven't succeeded so far .

Thank you, The original Revelstoke station was removed in the 1960s when they built the new one that now is just a crew change and office building for the yard

Hi and great vid, do you know anything about the blue roofed buildins at 11:30 minutes? Looks like a resort kind thing. Thanks.

Good video Tony. Too bad they let Glacier station go to ruin. Is the stone bridge at Loop Creek?

Hi Tony. I worked as a telegraph operator in all the Mountain Sub stations, also all the stations from Crowsnest to Grand Forks in the 50s and 60s. Have lots of stories and memories. Currently I am doing telegraph demos at the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon. All those stations are gone now. Greetings, Fred.

It’s a very interesting area especially if you are interested in rr history. The track prior to the Connaught tunnel went though a series of loops to manage the grade change. It was the same principles as the spiral tunnels but in a valley. The Glacier House was built by the CPR for the tourists. Unfortunately the area was plagued with avalanches and the line abandoned for the safer tunnel. Footings and foundations are still visible behind the Illcelliwaet campground. Nearby are the stone pillars that once supported the track and it wound through the loops

Thanks for the detailed info. I e done a bunch of reasesrch of the area. It’s such a shame I can’t fly the drone there as so much is inaccessible

Top shelf once again. The mountain views are spectacular and your narration amps up the video. Nice to see they'll rehab the Glacier station. Great way to spend a Friday. Thanks Tony.

Nice to hear a EMD SD70 at full throttle! Camped at the campground just up the road from Glacier several times where you can walk up the trail to The ruins of Glacier House hotel on the old rail grade before Connaught Tunnel was built.

Yes, it was nice to hear that EMD running full throttle. I would like to do some of that hike on the old rail bed.

Another campground just west of Glacier called Loop Brook has some massive stone pillars built over 100 years ago that carried the tracks as it looped around to climb Rogers Pass. Fascinating area with a lot of rail history!
