Wauw Tony, another great vid!!
@@zeegher thank you! Hope all is well with you
@TonyVRailfanning i am Tony, but very very busy at work right now 🤷🏻♂️
I lived in Panama in 1991 and all the rail stock was rusting away. Great to see the line operating again.
@@cookingwithstephanie yes, it is good. My understanding is that passenger service was suspended during the pandemic and I am unaware if it returned to service after
what camera do you use to film the trains?
@@powellolive9723 a Panasonic HCx 2000
@@TonyVRailfanning Thanks tony
Yes Tony, finally some winter scenery, but the snow cover is nevertheless quite tiny, which is no reason to complain about the vid. As always very well done! 👍😀
@@hunsbuckel55 you’re very welcome. It’s very windy here today. No way to get outside and do filming. It’s too cold hopefully next weekend.
Great catches, shots, & video! Nice SD70M-2 leaders there, love the 8895W & 8906W! Sucks they both had a P5 horn & not there original design of a K5LLA…
@@trainmanzach2684 ya, love the sound of those EMDs
Great catches, shots, & video! Love the G815 5752W! They were bookin it
@@trainmanzach2684 thanks! Its a great place to film
Looks cold out there. How is the drone in cold weather?
@@andrewmcarthur3843 the drone does good in that weather, ive flown in -18c once but never again as my fingers froze. Its too cold now to be out but hopefully next weekend
One other question, I was wondering if the tunnels at Three Valley Gap are tall enough to accommodate double height container cars?
@@davechmilar9861 yes, You mean the 3 at Clanwilliam lake. Those were also made with enough height.
What Alberta BC route through the mountains can the double stack height containers take?
@@davechmilar9861 both CNs mainline through Jasper and CPKCs mainline through Banff can handle them.
Doesn't Banff main line go through the spiral tunnels doesn't look like it's high enough?
@ yes, they dug the floor of those tunnels down in the 70s to give the clearances needed
Brrrrrrrr, love the lighting at 8:54 minutes, very nice. Thanks for sharing Tony 🙂
@@LightBear7 thank you! Have a great weekend 😀
It's only frozen recently? The reservoirs here have been frozen since mid December.
@@nickboers ya, up until Christmas you couldn’t even drive a skidoo on it. Its been above freezing more than below until today
I cant think about this spot without thinking of CP grainer 301 on that cold febuary morning in 2019
@MissouriRailroadProductions that is so true a very sad unfortunate event
It’s hard to believe that a railroad could be built they have done a lot of engingeering projects on this line you have to see it to believe I took the last passenger train in 1975 to Vancouver from Montreal very pleasant trip thank you C P
@@stephenflanders2190 it certainly is remarkable that they built this. I am currently working on a second part to this video from Revelstoke to Kamloops.
Great video!
@@lucastrainverse8618 thank you very much. Have a great week.
Very nice Tony, and finally some snow! 😉 Have a good start into the new week! 😀
@@hunsbuckel55 thank you you as well
I see the nodding donkeys not working. Is that due to the severe cold? caroline.
@@carolinecleaveley-q1r I think it’s due to demand it was running or at least one of them was when I arrived and it shut off
Hi Tony. you lucky with your ospreys as in uk they are endangered and their nesting sites are secrets. caroline from the uk.
@@carolinecleaveley-q1r that’s interesting, thanks for sharing that
do you know how long it takes for a freight train to go from edmonton to wildwood?
@QuincyJordan if there are no issues usually less than 3hrs
@@TonyVRailfanning ok thanks
I've always wondered why all those old telegraph poles and hardware have never been salvaged. There must be hundreds of thousands of these old poles across Canada. With all the timber frame construction in western Canada it looks like a forest waiting to harvested. Thanks for going into the frigid Alberta weather to film these videos Kenn
@@KennDungate thanks Kenn, yes so many of those old poles. I have a box full of insulators that i need to wash and put on display and sell. Ice got some rare ones also
Vey nice work great presentation there Tony! (Dave).

Great super close up of the grain train 🚆 awesome 👌 and great drone footage

Tony mega awesome freight trains 🚆 video 📹, wow the scenery in winter ❄️🥶🤧, the Westbound train 3101, as it came around the corner, you see the tracks they look very uneven with the eye 👁, there's dips, even the containers move about, great captures and awesome viewing 👍👏👌
@@trevorcooke8129 Trevor yes when you zoom the camera in so far it compresses everything and makes it look much worse than it actually is, but it is definitely a bit up and down through that location
Great job TonyV

The long range shots quite eerie looking. Very good. My brother sent a Regina -40 outside temp gauge today. Ouch. Great vid Tony.
@@kenstevenson4133 yes, very cold across the prairies. We are just on the edge of that so is not bad. Near freezing today and rest of week
I had a hunch the "local spot west of Edmonton" was between Stony Plain & Wabamun lol. I'm trying to figure out if you are either at Spring Lake, Carvel, or Duffield. Range Road 23 is my wild guess 👍
@@robertgates5053 LOL you are close. RR14, its a nice location other than no whistle there
Great catches at Carvel! They sure do speed down that hill haha I miss the horn action through that whole area tho....
@@trainmanzach2684 yes for sure. It’d be nice if they did the whistle but I understand for residence who live there that was very frustrating considering how many trains a day run that line.
Nice video tony
@@Alex-e5k5p thank you!
Let us never forget the crew of CP train 301 on that fateful Febuary morning.
@MissouriRailroadProductions you got that right a very sad situation indeed
I’m not sure why or how I came upon this video but I must say my heart is pounding so fast as it triggers something inside of me so I thought I might share with you, My husband Pete was an engineer for CPRail but unfortunately on January 20, 1995 his train hit a rockslide and ended up on the bottom of Kootenay lake in Nelson BC (Proctor area) he and his break man never survived. I can’t believe it’s almost been 30 years as it’s still so fresh in my mind. He loved his job as a railroader , I still miss him everyday. I appreciate that you put in a warning on your video that trains can sneak up on you without warning, my husband used to say the same thing :) Blessings, Leiza.
@@Lisa54321 wow, I am so sorry for your loss. This nearly brought a tear to my eye. I have always respected the railway and hope others do as well. This hobby of capturing trains with a unique perspective is very important to me and I hope it stirs up good emotions. Thank you for commenting and sharing your heartfelt story
@ Yes it does stir up some good emotions. My late step father Ted Clark was also a railroad hobbiest big time ,he was also into streetcars and used to make model streetcars which are showcased in a museum somewhere in Vancouver and has thousands of photographs with the Richmond archives , he used to chase trains also and capture them on his old cameras, he would have loved your aerial drone videos :)
Well, mid winter and absolutely no trace of snow. Same here, unthinkable 30 or 40 years ago.
@@hunsbuckel55 this was filmed in November but your right its been unusually mild in Western Canada also. Our first real snow storm was yesterday and cold air for just a few days.
Fantastic video Tony. Sorry we missed the live premier but we enjoyed watching on the replay. Have a wonderful upcoming weekend.(Steve)
@@StormySkyRailProductions thanks, no worries. We all have lives outside of this hobby. You enjoy the weekend also

@@bigv365 thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Somebody needs to knock down those trees at Morant's Curve , that shot for esatbounds is getting treed in ! Great vid , BTW !!
@@johnuhelski8613 thank you glad you enjoyed it. I do agree and another spot that’s so badly treated in is Stony Creek Bridge and the Spiral tunnels. You can’t see any of the trains coming anymore.
Question : is the membership fee paid out once for all time or is it a monthly fee?
@@sharonclarke2587 its monthly, its only the cost of a delux Starbucks coffee once a month

Thanks! Love your work!
@@davidturner5181 thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
Beautiful country
@@scottsmalley5597 indeed it really is
I just don't get it as to why big heavy tonnage trains like this get sent out on the road without extra helpers. Very nice video. Greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@@Brad-g9d you’re very welcome it really comes down to fuel costs putting extra locomotives on a train that are not really necessary. Just costs too much.
Wonderful Tony! 😀
@@hunsbuckel55 Thak you!
Excellent Presentation 🌹 Hearty Greetings from Hyderabad, India 🇮🇳
@@iiigraghu thank you for watching and joining
Is that one single locomotive pulling all that weight? That’s insane, how does that work? Ok, now I see the other locomotives.
@@garylawrence7547 yes, its called distributed power, its very effective in moving trains of this size. The units farther back are remotely controlled
Good one Tony. Next time you are filming at Swan Landing could you do an overhead footage of the track layout. Thanks. Staysafe, staywarm.
@@KennDungate yes I will do that. I plan to set up at a different spot. The next time I go there if I can get access to it that will allow me to be a little closer to that yard
