- Part 2 Cab ride on the "Canadian" no. 2 between Revelstoke and Field BC and back. My uncle is one of the engineers. My dad took all the footage shot with VCR. Both my uncle and my dad pushed out of Rogers BC in the Rockies for a good number of years. My dad retired in the mid 80s and my uncle in the early 90s. If you want to know what the Rogers pushers did see "Shaysteamjamb" videos for a small taste of what they did.
I'am glad that you could share these, this is a view that not many would ever get a chance to see.
My dad was a rail too, he worked for the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern as a Brakeman.
The snow is so beautiful!
been there done that, knew all these guys and worked with them all at one time or another
my great grandfather worked in Revelstoke & Roger's Pass starting in 1890s through to 1946 - with a few other stints in Banff and Maple Creek. He died of a heart attack at work on the siding at Taft BC in 1946.
I like this alot, thank you
How UTTERLY Beautiful!!!
i had a ride in a railcar 45 years ago in New Zealand up front with the driver when we entered a tunnel at 60 mph the pressure on your ear-drums was bad only when you entered the tunnel
That would be a great career
my pops in an engineer...if his conductor isn't calling signals, as its part of his job, he messes with their heads.... if his conductor is all reading his book or the paper and misses a signal my pops says "hey that signal was all red, you think we should stop?" lol conductors shit their pants when they hear that...then every signal that is missed after that...it gets less friendly..."hey asshole! what was that signal?!"
pusher crews dont need to call signals...they move to siding, wait for the train to pass then chase it out of the siding and lash up and push away...on mainline operations..everyone needs to know whats going on.if one man doesnt see a signal for whatever reason the other guy has to call it out so everyone is up to speed...pushere terminal went out of service when i was about 3 years old.during the time of the pushers. that grade was 2.8% i think.now goin through the macdonald tunnell...its 0.65%
gold!!
whats the computer-generated voice relaying info about?
Trackside defect detector, counts axles if any are hot, or dragging equipment
