I was asked to leave a casino a few times for using my brain. They said I was counting cards and that was illegal. This is the mindset of many here on planet earth.
Actually Levon explained the Rhf1 move. There is an idea, when black go long castle and at some point play Nc5 and Bishop is on e4, there is b4 and after Nxe4 fxe4 rook on f1 attacks bishop on f6. Pretty deep. And this idea was introduced by Rob Hess, the US Olympiad team trainer and Caruana was supposed to use it first but it ended up Aronian using this US team's prep
After all the anti-cheat measures it's interesting that Hans all of a sudden play like an intermediate player. But he was a perfect chess machine against Magnus. Han's losses make it even more obvious he was up to something in Magnus' game.

Hate that this story has blown up to the degree that it has. Hope there’s a resolution so we can move past it. Really bummed that Magnus lost, but the fact that there’s gonna be this asterisk next to this event is so frustrating.
Magnus DESERVED TO LOSE that game because he played a shit ton of inaccuracies. Karma is going to bite a huge chunk out of his ass.

I am a proud member of Team I-don't-know. Also I am with GM Finegold: Those accusations just make no sense at all and Magnus should be the one we should be questioning right now.
Dude I'm not on Magnus side but it's pretty clear that Hans cheated, regardless of his "heartfelt" speech, it's still all talks and he never said he didn't cheat at the SLC that he was playing right now. The action and results still speaks for itself.
To call it the 'cheating insinuation incident' is a very well-chosen term. Many of us appreciate your balanced coverage. Thanks! I hope your wife is as funny*
What's so cool about a guy falsely accusing another for cheating with no proofs. What's cool about being such an egotistical douche that you think you can't possibly have lost fair and square against an opponent you deem lower than yourself. Yes very cool move bro, I'm so happy MAGNUS cares so much about the sport that he would encite such a situation as this. Nice, another trash take.
Magnus has done quite of a bit of damage to the chess community recently. Disrespecting his opponent by refusing to play the championship after the challenger was decided. And now accusing someone who beat him of cheating without ever providing proof. He's one of those celebrities that decided to show us what he's really like, and I've lost a lot of respect for him recently.
I don’t know why in chess doesn’t apply “innocent until proven guilty” even if Hans cheated before in ONLINE games, it’s not the same bc in this tournament they have impressive security. He literally went from the best day of his life (beating WC with black) to being uninvited to multiple tournaments and stain his legacy, without ANY proof.
true man it sucks how stupid people can be, tbh if they think Niemann is a cheater they could've just filed formal complaints to the organizers so there would be an investigation instead of harassing the guy and jumping to conclusions without proof and investigations.
I love Magnus and am inclined to think he has enough credibility to be given some credence to what he is implying. That said, evidence is needed and I’d love to hear Magnus actually explain what he thinks happened. He absolutely could be in the wrong. I am a firm and proud member of team “I don’t know” but Hans’ track record compared to Magnus’s I think is a reasonable source of some mild to moderate suspicion.
Yes, considering 13 years old Magnus draw against Kasparov, while 16 years old Hans was according to himself "cheating to play against better rated players".
Most probably its Magnus who set a trap for Hans and Hans took the honeypot (= external leaked opening prep). Hans also cited it wrongly (game from 2018 which never existed :)) . So for Magnus the case is clear, but the rest of the world is just baffled. Typical Magnus strategy
Nah he did not imply anything at all and therefore evidence is not needed unless a claim has been made so Magnus is no way in the wrong and you are just desperate for likes LMAO
This whole thing feels like the fight between the news teams in Anchorman. And I'm just like Brick, standing there in the middle screaming as my puny brain tries to comprehend the chaos around me.
Haha I was right through all of this. This is a very traditionally Russian Chess thing to do: slow down your games, play sloppily, withdraw, accuse of misconduct, and then retire.
when carlsen played ‘King to F1 to defend the E2 pawn, Stockfish says that this was a very human move and the pawn did not need to be defended. And later on in the game, Stockfish showed carlsen where he could’ve had a draw by setting up his King to gobble up Hans’ A and B pawns. Carlsen missed this and at the same time Stockfish (Stokfish, channel) concluded by being very suspicious of Hans.
But that’s what makes this situation a mess and all the more confusing. Insinuation alone could ruin Hans’s life if he is actually innocent. Imagine not being able to get a definite outcome out of this. Then this will forever leave a black spot in his career and he could potentially be shadow banned from competitions
@@victorkao1472 His career is not going to be ruined from something like this because if hes suddenly as good as he is right now beating Magnus in dominating fashion and is beginning his climb to the top or is it a fluke. Time will tell.

The sad part for Hans is that even if he comes out clean, Magnus can just say that he never once said that Hans had cheated and can wash his hands completely and Hans will be left hanging with no apologies.

This cheating thing is like when that Malaysian aircraft went missing. Everyone has their pet theories, but we’re all working with zero knowledge. And in fact, just like that aircraft, we may never know what it’s all about.
They did find bits of that aircraft eventually, so have a good idea where it ended up, and there's a good theory why a pilot would take a plane to a place where it would be very difficult to retrieve the black box.
Adding to other replies, The pilot was found sketchy, his house was found with a flight simulator device, they found the guy practiced a flight path that was actually the same path that the flight took when missing.
Turns out usual theories or random speculations paint a vague picture of the real event, and speculations end up being closer to the truth more times than expected, there are legitimate reasons as to why he may have been cheating especially from his weird behaviour in the interviews
I'm on team "I have no reason suspect anything". It is NOT on Hans to prove himself innocent. It's on his accusers to produce evidence otherwise it is just slander and that is unconscionable!
The evidence is his meteoric unprecedented rise in rating; his inability to explain the line in an interview; his history of cheating; the convenience of studying the exact line, that Magnus played for the first time;... Now the question is if this meet's someone's standard of evidence. In a criminal court, the standard would be beyond reasonable doubt (almost certain ) In a civil court, the standard is a preponderance of the evidence (a hair more certain than not) Outside of a court system; people can use whatever standard of evidence they want. There is no law, that says which is the right one to use.
I personally do not particularly like Hans as a person, but I think it is unfair for him to face such hate and accusations unless convincing proof of him cheating is found. And Magnus' silence is annoying to those who want to learn the truth, if not suspicious
It's not simply annoying, it's completely unprofessional. Hikaru is a troll, his behaviour was expected, but Magnus was supposed to be better than this. Withdrawing without notice, leaving opponents waiting, messing up an entire tournament's standing, and insinuating someone who is already under public scrutiny of cheating is just downright villainous. And sadly, he'll still walk away from this with his reputation intact, no consequences from FIDE, and Levy still plastering him all over his thumbnails for those sweet, sweet views.
The unique humor you use is great, seriously it takes some real skill to come up with so many random and funny references and seamlessly integrate it into the recaps. Keep it up!
Why, in the final book of the Odyssey, does Oddysseus lie to his father when he no longer has a reason to conceal his identity? Is he so used to years of trickery he isn't capable of stopping? Is he intentionally torturing his father? Or does he believe this test to be necessary?
So Danny Rensch is saying that a caught past cheater who plays in their cash tournaments has been doing frequent and serious cheating, without ever being analyzed by their anti-cheating algorithm, despite of the fact he has probably been reported multiple times given his bad reputation, and they only realize it the moment Magnus throws his accusation?

Magnus has done quite of a bit of damage to the chess community recently. Disrespecting his opponent by refusing to play the championship after the challenger was decided. And now accusing someone who beat him of cheating without ever providing proof. He's one of those celebrities that decided to show us what he's really like, and I've lost a lot of respect for him recently.

I don’t know why in chess doesn’t apply “innocent until proven guilty” even if Hans cheated before in ONLINE games, it’s not the same bc in this tournament they have impressive security.

"The only way someone could beat me is by cheating" -someone who just botched an endgame
when carlsen played ‘King to F1 to defend the E2 pawn, Stockfish says that this was a very human move and the pawn did not need to be defended. And later on in the game, Stockfish showed carlsen where he could’ve had a draw by setting up his King to gobble up Hans’ A and B pawns. Carlsen missed this and at the same time Stockfish (Stokfish, channel) concluded by being very suspicious of Hans.
honestly until there's a hard accusation of cheating and not just insinuation, i'm not really paying too much attention to the drama
But that’s what makes this situation a mess and all the more confusing. Insinuation alone could ruin Hans’s life if he is actually innocent.

The sad part for Hans is that even if he comes out clean, Magnus can just say that he never once said that Hans had cheated and can wash his hands completely and Hans will be left hanging with no apologies.
Magnus never accused Hans of cheating. Nowhere he said Hans cheated. It was all us and our assumptions

@@woofmeow3722 But Magnus doesn't do anything after the drama. If everyone misunderstood, he just say that he isn't cheating and everything is over.
What a weak move to accuse him of cheating without any proof. Like he can't lose...
Magnus: let the scandal speak for itself.
It's not reasonable to ask Magnus to speak up. Look at it from his perspective. The most likely situation is that he very strongly suspects cheating, but doesn't have conclusive evidence. So what are his options?
He can't stay in the tournament and silently grit his teeth, because clearly he finds that intolerable.
He can't make an announcement that Niemann is cheating, because he doesn't have the proof and anyway that's the tournament's job, if it happens. If he went into his reasoning as to why he thinks this is cheating, everyone would flay him alive for not having proof.
So he made a brief statement, saying the minimum necessary. Adding the clip of the coach saying "I can't say more," was not something I would have advised him to do, but he did it.
Now everyone wants him to make a more comprehensive statement, and then everyone would get mad at him if he did. The guy can't .... uh ..... win.

The plane was found. The Atlantique made an excellent article about it.
@@Heldermaior Don't lie. MH370 is not found.
It would be really funny to see Lucy try to explain master level gameplay! Looking forward to it 😂
Yes, please
Never commented on this channel before but I think Lucy doing the recap would be hilarious
xd same
I'm on team "I have no reason suspect anything".
In a criminal court, the standard would be beyond reasonable doubt (almost certain )
In a civil court, the standard is a preponderance of the evidence (a hair more certain than not)
Outside of a court system; people can use whatever standard of evidence they want.
