Theres some easy Smithing 7s and 8s in the gazebos up on Ranni's little plateau in Liurnia. Guarded by annoying Radagon wolf, but its a lot of saved runes compared to buying them.
It is all great content but honestly it is overwhelming to me as a non-souls player. Still trying my best but it is really hard. Will try to explore on my own and try to enjoy it 😂

now you could do this build or you can do the thrusting sword build instead. just buy a rapier and dual wield estoc and rapier and go full dex, when you get your hands on glintblade phalanx ash of war from rogiers rapier and from there you can then just glintblade phalanx stagger any enemy and crit them with rapier and when you're not doing that you can choose to dual wield any thrusting sword you go and pick up. the starting staff you can still choose to charge a glintblade and do a quick one right after as you've set up your ash of war glintblade phalanx before hand and run in and do an initial salvo, it's decent early game but as you level more dex and skipping intelligence and skip upgrading the staff it just falls off eventually. now with that you can go and find the other thrusting swords, the frozen needle and the antspur rapier, they are on the way anyways as you want to have millicents prosthesis talisman and winged sword insignia talisman and the dagger talisman is optional if you want bigger crits out of the rapier, as for the last 2 talismans it's kind of optional, you can use defensive ones or you can go for broke when it comes to damage, i'd recommend spear talisman or blue dancer charm and the ritual sword talisman for bigger average damage, the exaltation of blood and rot talismans are also options but i find them to be more circumstantial as they rely on status effect proccs and just going thrusting swords you have that option but then you're mostly limiting yourself to status effects and not every boss or enemy is susceptible to these status effects, many are and you should still use status effects on certain bosses like the fire giant. why you would want the antspur and the frozen needle, you might think they are lesser thrusting swords for just pure dex damage but they still have uses, the frozen needle with ranged attacks and able to frostbite is really good as the frostbite makes the enemy take 20% more damage and the antspur well you can slap on bleed and have a very good status effect building weapon that will both rot and bleed the enemy which will just be good tools for dealing with big enemy health bars but it's mostly for the fire giant i think as most of everything else will just melt fast enough to where bleed and rot isn't necessary. but the main point is to have several thrusting swords equipped and the small shield for when you want to get fancy and parry so you just swap thrusting swords around for what you need in that moment and time. you could go and farm for cleanrot sword as the last thrusting sword but it's really not needed, or if you want to limit yourself and just go dex damage and not relying on status effects or abuse staggers or parries with the rapier you could pick up another estoc and just dual wield estocs through the entire game. really the big reason why i suggest this is because if you want to use thrusting swords you're gonna be disadvantaged just using one thrusting sword, the damage will never be great and you will have more struggle dealing with enemies that you come across and so you will be forced to hunt for sorceries and from there you will just be a caster with a thrusting sword for when you're out of FP. but i think you're wondering why the rapier as the first weapon to pick up and why use rapier at all when the misericorde does more crit damage, well the simple reason is because you can dual wield the rapier and estoc and just poking with the estoc by itself is gonna be a bit underwhelming so the rapier is just flexible extra damage and bigger crits than what the estoc have and the misericorde is not a weapon you can dual wield with thrusting swords in that way. if you went bandit and went dagger build then the misericorde is the weapon of choice for crits. if you actually want to use the moveset of a thrusting sword and only want to one-hand a thrusting sword then pick a different starting class i suggest the warrior and use heavy thrusting swords, the thrusting sword you want to go get first and is in a chest in limgrave is the great epee, you can swap this out later for godskin stitcher or bloody helice or the dragon kings cragblade, but if you want to stick to the great epée then go full strength, and i don't recommend winged sword insignia and millicents prosthesis talismans for one handing heavy thrusting swords, they are a bit slower and you're only gonna wield one so you won't get the same effect out of those. but yeah that's it i guess.
5:34 If you need runes early game, there’s a method that hasn’t been patched out yet, basically after you beat Greyoll for 50K, run to the grace with Torrent, and if you’re quick enough she’ll respawn, the weapon ability of the flail is also much faster for applying bleed, and will work at 0 FP regardless
Yes! I hope this feature never go always. I do this on every new character.
