One of his was on display at the Hard Rock Cafe inside the Toronto Blue Jay's stadium back in 1994. I sat at a table right beside it. They had it hanging from one of the rafters. I stared at it the entire time I was there.
I am the proud owner of a Stevie Ray Vaughan signature, building year 1997! I bought it and let it in the case eversince...... what should it be in dollars now? 🤔
@@MaddoxMelton The finish doesn’t have any effect on how an electric guitar sounds. Neither does the wood. I can’t believe people still say ridiculous things like that.
@@Acemechanicalservices wood and finish do have an effect on tone albeit a small one, but it definitely has an effect on feel. It's like comparing a cheap watch to a high quality watch. They both tell time just fine but the high quality watch has better material, fit and finish and feels better. Even if it doesn't make a huge difference, I don't want a high quality guitar with a cheap finish that looks and feels like plastic.
@@JordanWatson-bz4fb I agree with the latter, I don’t like a super glossy, sticky plastic either. It has been proven multiple times however, wood and finish, even guitar type, fret wood have no effect on what comes out the speaker on your amp.
@gus8378 when Stevie Ray Vaughn played on the Tonight show or one of those late night talk shows back in the day he was known for playing his strat that had the letters "SRV" on his guitar. For that performance I think Stevie was playing a new guitar and his guitar tech went into the prop department to find letters to put "SRV" on the guitar. He did it and Stevie played the show. They later realized that the letters on the guitar were actually "SRU" not "SRV" It was a bit of an accident but it stuck. The letter font of the stickers made it so the letter U had more of a sharp angle at the bottom rather than a smooth rounded angle like a typical letter U so it was easy to mistake it for a V Fun fact* John Mayor actually got Stevies initials tattooed on his arm and chose to get SRU instead of SRV because of that guitar and incident.
No possibility of it ever looking like the original, no many how many decades or aggressively it's played, or how much blood sweat and tears it's drown in... such a shame.
There is no skunk stripe because with the rosewood fingerboard, the truss rod was installed from the front instead of the back, like on a one piece neck.
I know this very same guitar, played it quite a few times. The first impression was that the neck IS really chunky, baseball bat like. That time I didn't like it, but in the meantime I prefer these necks over the slim ones. The Texas special pu-s (Tex-mex maybe?) are bringing you the sound. But overall somehow I wasn't impressed and then, some twenty on more years ago it was insanely expensive.
Dude, Texas Special pups are deliberately overwound to make them hot as hell!!! I had a set installed in a tele I’d had for years that is a Fender California series tele. Apparently the paint shop in Fenders California plant caught on fire some time ago, and they shipped all the guitars from the last quarter or so of that model year down to Mexico to have the finish applied. This particular guitar came with a set of Tex-Mex pups installed; which is what they put in the Mexican made Fenders. This particular one had a Strat pup in the neck position, and a tele bridge pup. I bought it on consignment at a music store in Alamogordo, NM as the guitar tech there was actually doing a proper set up on the guitar with a strobe tuner. The guy had literally just dropped it off at the shop. He didn’t like it because it didn’t sound like a Tele to him with the Strat pup in the neck. I bought it for $400 as soon as she was done setting it up. I still feel sort of bad to this day because the woman doing the set up was a gigging musician, and had said in front of me that she wanted to buy it herself. I thought it was really cool the way it was because I was pretty young at the time and didn’t have much money, it was the first really nice guitar I’d ever purchased, and I could pull off both Strat and Tele tones from one guitar. Eventually I started making a lot more money, and could do whatever. I went out and bought a Strat and thought I really don’t need this Strat pup in the neck of my Tele. I knew I was going to upgrade the pups, and was on the fence between the Fender Vintage Noiseless, and the Texas Specials. I chose them because they’re the highest output single coil pup Fender makes. I went into the shop to pick my guitar up when they told me the job was done, and quite literally everyone that worked there had taken a turn on my guitar through a Supro amp. When I walked in I couldn’t believe what I was seeing; because I was sort of pissed 4 different dudes had been passing my guitar around like a whore, but more importantly what I was hearing because this guitar had become a fire breathing dragon that screamed like a banshee!!! They all wanted to try it because the Texas Special is basically only available on a new guitar through the Fender Custom Shop, and so was the first person to have a set of those pups installed. I have a Les Paul Studio with Burstbucker Pros in it, and this Tele puts it to shame. I really have no idea what the Strat set sounds like, but if it’s anything like the Tele set, you’d better buckle up!!!
Hey, c’mon… he had the PRIVILEDGE of attending a public exhibition. Rare indeed. Also, I don’t think he understands what New Old Stock is… is he saying that guitar was assembled out of parts made in the 60s that were found in the back of the Fender warehouse and had never been used? Fair to say he’s not a marketing major… or maybe he is…😮
Youd think they'd have a worn version that looks more like his, seems to make more sense to me. Although as a whole worn guitars are pretty goofy, but in this case i could see it
The new old stock guitar that’s made of all new parts? Can someone please explain to this kid that new old stock means it’s old, but has never been sold before? And while you’re at it, try to straighten him out on that “can’t understate” phrase.
If you are going to sell a guitar on the net, don't you think you should at least demo it? This demo (or infomercial) stinks. No offense Sam Ash but, why in the world would I pay $5450.00 + $545.00 tax ($5995.00) for this overpriced Fender guitar solely based on this vid? I would not! Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.
I'm proud owner of one of this, since 1999 (mine it's 1997, with pau ferro scale). Beautifull axe, no complains here.

Sounds very close to SRV sound. My dream guitar.

That’s so awesome , love SRV 🎶🇦🇺
I'm holding out for a relic'ed replica version of Trigger, Willie Nelson's road worn guitar.
They make those?
Can you express at all how it was an emotional experience?
I think thats about as excited as Gav gets.
give him a break

Strip that poly off, apply a thin nitro coat and you have a winner. Otherwise, no thank you Fender.
Right! What a waste.
Yeab the poly in this thing is horrible. Itdna great guitar but the poly just ruins how it feels and sounds

If you buy from Sam Ash make sure to inspect the product thoroughly after shipment. Cheers
I can definitely appreciate the SRU on the pickguard. It’s as much a tribute to René Martinez as it is Steven Ray Vaughan.
I was going to mention that ad well. It's a cool little nod to him for sure.
What do you mean?

Lol i was at the same expo, that entire expo was mental imo

CLOCK OUT!!!
I thought “new old stock” aka NOS means it was made back when but is new and unused?
I hope it comes authentically setup with telephone cable for strings

Why I play Cliffs of Dover when I got this?
Well, I got to SEE Stevie PLAY the Number One....

Kurko Vein?
Pretty cool, but why not use nitro..? Odd. Very odd.
How muchooo?
"Gloss urethane"? I believe the correct "new old stock" would be a nitrocellulose finish.
Didn't know Kurt Cobain was a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan lol

It’s cool to have tribute guitars but what made Stevie’s strat so cool was how beat up it was This just doesn’t capture SRV
the evh guitar is more what you're looking for

This the 2200$ or the 5000$ one. God damn guitarflation is real
JIMI HENDRIXS OLYMPIC WHITE IS MY PREFERENCE !
All that money to cover it in some shitty plastic finish. Too lazy to go real nitro as usual
Cost is both testicles
I'd like one without the SRV and a regular truss rod adjustment point. I've never been a fan of. ANY "signature" guitar.
Emotional? Please...
Let me guess, $899.99 🤣
No thanks
Lame. Should have been nitro so it could be reliced by the owner.
Urethane finish and Texas special.... Not authentic
No disrespect, but not crazy about signature models.
