DIY Telecaster Pickguard From A Vinyl Record

I've made patterns and jigs to make Telecaster pick guards. In this video I use vinyl records, but this probably would work with most sheet plastics.
The guitar picking music in the middle and end of the video, is my cousin playing his versions and original takes of the music our Grandfather showed us how to play, in the style of Merle Travis and Chet Adkins.

That is so cool putting the record on the guitar. I really like the emblem with the dog. I think it’s rca if I’m not mistaken. You teach so well and give watchers the advantage of learning by your mistakes as well as your talent.

Have you done one for a Stratocaster?

No, I have not. Stratocaster pick guard is just a little too big to fit on a single record. The outside edge would fall at right about the tone knob. Maybe two piece or heat it up and stretch it a little. Maybe I’ll try it someday.

Very, very nice. I wonder if I could just use Lexan for the 1st template? I have some plate aluminum, but no band saw. I will be using a variable speed jig saw and I think poly would be easier.
I am repairing/rebuilding an old Silvertone for a friend made by Kay in 1953. (date stamp inside). I don't know if SUN made albums back then but I remember the old 45's. It would so cool to find a hit song for 1953 and make a new pick guard.
I have the original, but would like to make it slightly larger.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
