WCW was doomed when its biggest cheerleader in the company, Ted Turner, lost financial control of his company.

@goldenpeacock8843 Probably didn't care because, at that point, he was nothing more than a figurehead of the company. Plus he was counting all the money his shares will make. By the time WCW was in the middle of the 83 weeks run at #1, Ted was not in control because shareholders wanted to sell the company for profit.
Jamie Kelner who ran the board of AOL/Time Warner killed WCW.
As a kid in Australia we got Raw taped and Nitro on a Saturday night taped. We loved watching week to week because you never knew what was going to happen. The worst day in wrestling on a whole, was when Vince brought WCW. Now we have WWE and AEW, which the wrestling fans win again.

All the WCW stars were their worst versions or a joke. DDP, Goldberg, Sting all sucked under WWE. WWE resorted to more steroids an porn. They gave the juice to Benoit and Eddie Guerrero as soon as they came in.

Holy sh*t!!!! Booker T totally buried Dark Side Of The Ring (DSOTR) as a show, Hulk Hogan and especially Eric Bischoff on a recent interview he had with "The Goat" Brad Gilmore, on his Podcast Heat, produced by Reality of Wrestling, regarding episode 3 of Who Killed WCW. Booker T got VERY heated about Hulk Hogan almost ruining Booker T's WCW Championship/Title win.
Booker T reflected on Hulk Hogan's creative control and Eric Bischoff essentially inflating Hulk Hogan's already massive ego, and Eric Bischoff being an accomplice to Hulk Hogan damaging the business, with their backstage politics. Booker T has also disappointed in a comment made by Hulk Hogan disrespecting Booker T's WCW World Championship run.
Booker T, pretty much called Hulk Hogan extremely selfish, Eric Bischoff as Hulk Hogan's biggest mark, and inaccurate DSOTR is as a show, as regrets being on DSOTR. Booker T, while saying Eric Bischoff did a lot for him, along with Vince Russo, but Booker did say Vince Russo had some great ideas, but also has some no so great ideas, and Booker T's respect for Eric Bischoff went down.

AOL killed WCW cause Ted sold it cause it was losing money it peaked about 5 years then it crashed I always like WCW better than WWE at the time

Ted felt loyalty for wrestling. The ratings GCW drew laid the foundation for his empire. As long as Ted controlled the company there would be wrestling on TBS.
No, that was only one piece of the puzzle. If you seriously think that's the ONLY thing that killed WCW, then you're just as dumb as WWE saying WCW died because DX drove a, "tank," to a Nitro once.

The higher ups at Turner didn't force WCW to do the finger poke of doom or Judy Bagwell on a pole matches.
they were still the number one rated show on turner years after the finger poke of doom the execs killed wcw not the finger poke of doom
@@bb-gc2tx Their ppv buyrate was almost nonexistent, they couldn't give away tickets, the shows were obviously horrible, and the ratings were down almost 60%. And the salaries were sky high. Only the most hardcore wrestling nut of tv executives would have kept them afloat.

Don't know whether Tommy Dreamer is misinformed or just completely full of "pro wrestling hype BS," but ECW on MSG in 1995 was not the highest rated TV show on the MSG network. Maybe it was the highest rated program they put in their 1am/2am time slot, as compared to the other paid infomercials they were airing at the time. Also, ECW TV was very often pre-empted.
But ECW on MSG TV was not drawing bigger ratings than the Yankees games nor Rangers games.
It was actually the highest rated show on TNN prior to them get kicked off
Every single episode he says some bs about ECW. He said the last one I saw that ECW was selling more ppv than wcw. This guys a joke.

@@JustinosbornAt the end it was. WCW was getting buyrates around 50-60k while ECW rates were around 70k. Neither is good numbers by any stretch of the imagination, but he's not wrong.

Madusa is so irrelevant to anything wcw did. Why is she even talking? The only thing she did was throw a title in a trash can. She never started a women’s division in wcw. They just did a cheerleading team just to show some girls off. Then she did some body work and some bad dancing segments and wrestling some cruiser weights.

She was told to do it by Eric and I feel that Madusa is always on the fence about supporting WWE. Eric wanted her to dump the belt as a form of shock value.

Opinions vary but common criticisms about WCW then and AEW now are a lack of leadership. Really does tell you, for all his many (times god only knows) faults, McMahon knew the business, knew how to maintain order and for a long time knew what people wanted. He’s the villain of many stories but his contribution can’t be accurately calculated.
His only problem business wise was actually bot giving fans what they wanted but what he thinks they wanted. Source WWF/WWE since March 2001 (especially WWECW)

Madusa the living legend. She knows what makes a wrestler into a superstar it's charisma plan and simple.
One could be a great wrestler, But if they don't have the mic skills or connect with the fans then being a great wrestler isn't enough.
Awesome Interview with Madusa as they hit on a lot of topics that the fans didn't know such as the behind the scenes with the Corporate people being sour that WCW was doing great for 83 weeks and beating the ratings on there local channel so what did they do they as HIGHER UPS say let's get rid of WCW which meant that fans and talent would lose there jobs and no money coming in unless you were hired by WWF when VKM bought it back in the day. This is a must see & listen to get the behind the scenes of a wrestler through her eye's and how she dealt with things when WCW was still in business.
This downfall had me messed up for year. The person behind took The Total Package, Buff Bagwell, Scott Steiner, Sean O'haire and the whole Natural Born Thrillers away from me. I needed that to get through life back then.

Anyone else getting tired of the constant " (insert random ex wcw employee) who killed wcw? Isnt it common knowledge it ultimately was killed off by the corporate merger. Yes things went to crap near the end. But had they remained on tv and not sold to the sadistic clown VKM they may have pulled out and been successful. Everyone blames Bischoff , Russso and Hogan lol.
Sure, WCW was sold and its days on Turner ended, but it really wasn't *killed* until the Invasion angle was butchered by the WWF. It could've remained a viable entity for years if it was handled correctly.
Vince Mcmahon had a golden opportunity, his ego got in the way, he had to let the world know he won and bought WCW. He could have did a real invasion angle without everyone knowing he bought the company.
Except that as publicly traded companies, both AOL and WWFE had to report the sale.

Everybody let’s let’s stop and let’s stop pointing fingers and everything. The reason WCW went at Business was a combination of a lot of factors. Yes, you had certain people in Turner broadcast him in AOL who wanted nothing to do with wrestling that was a fact it wasn’t Eric Bishop but it was The fact that you know who came down from WWE and he just blitz the heck out of it to destroy the product, the law, the story lens he came out, worked terrible and that also caused the issue. You also had individuals who were booking. I’m not gonna say names that were booking. They were putting themselves over Rather than look what’s best for the business also, the matter is the killing of Gold did not help that killing the start. The downfall was that there was a lot of things that messed it up and when they started going down rather than staying in house and keeping the product cost lower, they kept trying to expand to do it bigger and bigger things that they should’ve done, a lot of factors that led to the killing of never happened it should’ve been around. It still should be a very quality entity to rival WWE and unfortunately it’s not. Unfortunately the problem is AEW. I’m sorry is a shit organization because he doesn’t know how to write a product inconsistently the inmates are on the asylum and that’s the problem and he needs to step back with someone who actually knows how to control that situation. Take out the bucks and them who were the EVP’s are wrestling him and take them out of those positions for people who connect you, Book and know what they’re doing in those positions and get the company where it needs to be, yes we need a secondary company even a company a fourth company that truly can be a balance and to put each other on notice that they cannot just mail it in that avenues. The rest have avenues to have a place to go work other individuals, producers and other people who can do the work because television and wrestling is a TV show and you need quality people know what they’re doing it to run these companies and the problem is AEW this moment still has not Done it and the product has suffered because of it . Because Tony Kahn’s father is helping bank the situation and the fact that matter is the second best company in the business is TNA.

Considering that Eric said the talent only knew locker room info makes me think they didn't really know the whole story of what really happened to WCw.
Deuce is, in short, one of the greatest female wrestlers all time and outside the ring she is a person you can respect in all ways.

Whoever killed the tv deal is who killed WCW. Plain and simple. Yeah, the other shit didn't help, but it ultimately comes down to the Turner deal. And I'm sure Vince Russo played a heavy part in that one AOLTW exec's final decision.
Fuck Jamie Kellner, he murdered a lot of programs that people enjoyed for some, "hogh-brow," boring shit no one wanted. But Hogan/Nash/Bischoff and Russo certainly didn't make it hard.
