There is no record of the completion of a turtle ship, and there is no record of it ever fighting against the Japanese navy. Of the 13 ships that survived the Battle of Myeongliang, there were no turtle ships, and even if they sank somewhere, no wreckage has ever been found. The turtle ship is a lie fabricated by Koreans.
The last time Yi Sun-shin fought in a superior position against Japan was at the Battle of Hansando, just three months after the start of the war, when the Japanese navy had not yet completed its equipment. For the next seven years, Yi Sun-shin was defeated in every battle. The 23 wins in 23 battles that Koreans claim is a complete lie. This is a fact recorded in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty.

Correction: Joseon was never a Ming Vassal. It is even said in Ming Records themselves. The Ming saw Joseon as a powerful ally due to its instrumental help in defeating the Yuan and helping establish Ming rule in China. In fact, only Joseon beared the same epithet that Ming used on itself. Ming was called Great Ming, and Joseon was the only country in Ming records to have the epithet of "great". Hence, Ming officially addressed Joseon as Great Joseon. In Joseon records, it also called itself Great Joseon and even referred to itself as an Eastern Empire similar to the Ming as the Middle Empire. Additionally, Ming is also the only country to be referred to as "great". Joseon and Ming rulers were also recorded to have been friends and saw each other on equal terms.

That's just Korean nationalistic propaganda to the max just like those claiming Goryeo was never part of Yuan. Joseon was a vassal, just not in the same vein as a vassal in the European feudal system. Your arguments are utter fallacies and not even relevant to the point you're trying to prove. Joseon's king was a subject to Chinese emperor they needed approval from the Chinese emperor to legitimize their rule even if it was just a formality and Joseon willingly submitted to this tributary system for its security and stability. And no, I'm not Chinese but a fellow Korean majored in history and who is sick and tired of hearing nationalists spreading misinformation. Sorry for going off on a tangent, uploader. I really enjoyed the video.

"It may be proper to compare me with Nelson, but not with Korea's Yi Sun-shin, for he has no equal. Nelson and I both fought battles with full support from the government, but General Yi Sun-shin achieved victory without any government support. Compared to General Yi, I am but a petty officer." Japanese admiral Tōgō Heihachirō, victor of the battle of Tsushima strait

People highly value Admiral Yi because the Japanese military, which was strong enough to reunite Japan, failed to advance to the mainland. This is why they highly value Admiral Yi. If we underestimate him, the humiliation of famous generals including Toyotomi Hideyoshi being defeated by the humble Joseon general would be even more of a disgrace.

Between an incompetent jealous king & fellow commanders, great Admiral Yi faced so much opposition. Thank God for him! Can’t imagine a world without Korean culture ❤ wouldn’t it be great if he survived and replaced king Seonjo or if King Taejong was king at the time who would support the great admiral!
