1:25 My friends are like this, they'll forget I'm playing with them because I have streamer mode on, then I turn it off and go "oh shit it's our lucio 1-trick coach, my bad im so sorry you're doing great"
"It's not the game it's the players" is entirely why my playtime has dropped off. I feel like the casual playerbase used to be so much more casual. Maybe that's just nostalgia though
I won’t deny the nostalgia but you are absolutely right. The game used to be a lot more casual, at least in quick play. They’ve basically said it themselves that they want people to even take QP seriously, so on top of the game’s semi culture flip Blizzard is just fostering that mentality :/ been realllyyy missin OW1 these days
pre-OWL before the game was pretending it was a serious esports contender, the game was casual and fun. you could pick multiples of the same hero, play in multiple roles in a single game, and it really didn't feel like anyone took it too seriously. that was back when the game had charm. now it feels like they've gutted everything fun and goofy about it out in the name of "balance" and yet nobody ever has fun because balance sucked the soul out of the whole game.
We play against bots and that's pretty much it. Unranked is horrible since there's no matchmaking so you either steamroll or get steamrolled and god forbid you lose as a Support role, blocked 2 people in like 30 hours(like who tf is so miserable that they find you after UNRANKED games to talk shit, it's ridiculous), and if that's the state of unranked there's no way in hell I'm touching comp. Against bots I can do stupid stuff once in a while to see if it works without completely throwing the game, or as Ana it feels great calling out a nano to someone who then practically 1v5's the entire bot team. That just won't happen against other players because frankly I(and the vast majority of players) am not good enough but I'm fine with that. I have a really solid mentality for losing, I really don't care since I come from fighting games, but having teammates constantly say you're shit or throwing(again in unranked where it doesn't fucking matter) it just kills my desire to play the game despite really liking the characters and mechanics. Ngl the 100ish games to unlock Echo were miserable and I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that anymore
That’s completely fictional I’m afraid. Gaming in general is toxic due to multiple factors, and in general it’s literally a baseline to assume that if there’s any type of interaction in a game people has available with another, from obvious things like a chat and mic to literal crouching and game mechanics, the people will Actively choose to attack and utilise it in a negative way
oh my god geguri! i never forgot about geg but i did forget how fucking pathetic everyone was about accusing her of cheating or blaming her for shanghai's winrate. back in 2017 when i started playing, every game i'd get OMG, IS THAT A GIRL GAMER??? and i really internalised the whole "girls only play support" shit too, i have sooo many hours on mercy because i was afraid of being flamed but i also actually felt like i would be bad at anything else. because am girl. to be clear, i'm not a fkn idiot, i've been a lifelong feminist but it is weird how that shit sinks in. after a while i changed my name to something gender neutral and started playing mystery heroes til i figured out i can actually play whatever i want, and then i started outranking the dudes on my friends list, and then they stopped talking to me :D yay
The playing mercy bc it feels safe to choosing a gender neutral name and discovering other heroes pipeline is so real :') I had the exact same experience... People are sooo much nicer to you when they assume you're a guy. I'm slowly trying to use voice chat and get out there but I just keep making bad experiences so I joined a few all girls discord servers and just play with them instead
The problem is that most people are nice. But most people are also casual. So the newer a game is, the more likely it is to have a nice community because there are simply more nice people to drown out the toxicity. As the lifespan of the game goes on though, most players move on to other things. First some of them start to go play other games, then the rest of them get driven away by the remaining toxicity. Valo had a great start with their community but they seemingly tried to convert the casuals into tryhards and scared most people away. It's really on the developer to find a way to please both crowds. You need the tryhards to push the game to it's limits and draw in new players, and you need a good casual and new player experience to keep those new players. You also need to find a way to perpetuate a wholesome community without being cringe. It really is a tightrope to walk, not an easy task by any means. But it is their responsibility. The developers are the only ones who can do this kind of thing for a game.
I was attacked relentlessly for months in voice chat for the way my voice sounds from like october to probably march, then the report spam abuse came in from pre-mades 4 stack egirl mercy's and their simp's throwing games, and I got silenced and banned. It was actually the "casual players" in their premade groups and transphobic dudebros that were the most toxic, and they have ALL stayed behind. I went 3-4 seasons without getting banned or anything, with guys calling me names and saying I should kill myself, to now having lost my account permanently after 3 days playing, 2 days playing, etc because people are extremely toxic more ever. I went from climbing to mid-masters with no incidents except people attacking me for my voice, to now plat-diamond on alt accounts where I can only play 1-2 weeks maximum before the next account is suspended or gone permanently. The current overwatch community is hands down by far the most toxic one I've ever seen. Either you get absolutely horrible games, players, trash talkers, or you lose your account and blizzard won't give a reason and wont unban. Like esky wonders why queue times are 10 minutes, maybe because everyone started getting banned and suspended since last year for literally playing the game, OR they got driven off by the transphobic anti lgbt nutjobs and their fat egirls on east/west coast NA. The only reason i play the game anymore is because how it *feels* to play, like the actual gameplay. I play strictly solo, no friends or anything, I don't talk in voice chat anymore, I barely type anything, and still everyon'e still toxic and I login to "warnings". I think it's a massive issue in mid-ranks like plat/diamond. I don't know the last time I played with a competent team doing call outs or actually working together. Like sometimes a tank or something will start off in comms strong, but then after the first point we get rolled, they don't say anything the rest of the game. The whole game just became some random slot machine 50/50 win/loss casino simulator to me at this point where I just focus on my accuracy and positioning and timings and rarely say anything out of fear I'll just get banned again.
@@kurikatthat sounds horrible, i'm sorry players are so toxic. I'm a woman and I've never entered voicechat on any game I've played, for fear of facing misogyny.
Genuinely? Me and the girls (5 alcoholic mentally unwell engineers) have been having way more fun on overwatch this season, thank you for keeping the game alive :3 (also if you want a fun game to play with friends monster hunter world is goated)
the thing that gets me is that no matter how good you’re doing, there’s always someone who will blame you. i only play qp and custom games and i still have to disable text chat sometimes because of how bad it gets. it’s always gotta be someone else’s fault.
As someone who has played fighting games and overwatch, I can tell you fighting games has been the greatest thing for me ever. It really helps that the community has been awesome.
I don’t talk in game at all since people just respond with rude comments. Or if I try to communicate with my team about what we should do, people don’t listen or just call me a slur.
The last time I played OW, my team was being spawned camp and they decided since I was Tracer and there was a widow, it was my fault for not flanking Widow. Pointing out that I was being spawn camped with the rest of the team only made them more mad
‘I’ve always wanted to be called a cheater’ Honestly, in my experience, the worse you are at the game the more likely you are to be called a cheater. I’m absolute garbage at games like Overwatch and Valorant, but the amount of times I’ve been seriously called a cheater cause I do good for a little bit is insane. So to almost never be called a cheater is actually the real testament of how good you are.
The thing about the vibe check is sooo true especially in valorant, people be throwing slurs at you just for being a woman before the game even starts. In comp I used to only comm when i was top frag and even then people would be so horrible 😭
As someone who plays support more than tank now, I've been seeing a lot of Mercy/Moira players who are too stubborn & afraid to try out a hero that uses the smallest amount of aim that'll help out their team. My aim is dogshit & I'm almost always playing Bap/Kiri/Ana
As an avid fighting game player since 1993, the FGC is a community of the most welcoming ppl when you're a newbie. What it takes to get semi proficient at fighting games is so difficult, any of us will literally hand walk you through several situations. Once you become decent, expect to see a different side lol
I started playing six siege and I remember the first person teaching me how to play the game was a random player who was a girl and she taught me how to play. She would frag while I droned for her and gather intel, and it was so fun. And around 2017 and 2018 the games were mostly chill or fun. There were more normal decent people back then (imo siege atleast). Even lower ranks were highly competitive. Only thing mattered was strategising and executing ur plans. And suddenly everything changed late 2019.
One of the main reasons I don't play FPS games tbh, voice chat is a lose-lose. Either my voice isgood one day and I experience misogyny/transmisogyny, or I'm crusty and everyone thinks I'm a boy, and regardless, there's gonna be toxic/tilting chatters either way. Really wish this wasn't such an issue, team FPS games are so cool on paper or played w friends.
It really is the players. The community has always been toxic but it’s just been getting worse. First time I talked in game chat a year ago I got told “why aren’t you in the kitchen, make me a sandwich” they claimed to just be joking around but, at least come up with something creative 💀. It’s more annoying than insulting. If ow players find out you’re a girl they will put you down for it and blame you. If you make one mistake they will focus on that one play and try to put you down and flame you. When you are being toxic, blaming/screaming at teammates, your teammates won’t want to help you. When you are nice, give actual advice that helps, your teammates want to help you more. Why is that so hard to understand.
Positive atmosphere does wonders. If the main call outer keeps up good spirits your chance of winning increases. Also lol yeah, the basic if a guy does a mistake it's just an individual mistake but if a girl does a mistake it's an inherent flaw. So biased.
I dont have a mic anymore so im one of the players who cant talk but even if i did i wouldnt cause ive been told countless times shut ur mic off or be quiet its insane
6:03 ah yes, the classic transfem problem. I am dehydrated 100% of the time. I can drink like 30 ounces of water and still be very dehydrated. Looking and feeling my best had to have *some* downside, I guess.
It's mostly why I just don't play comp anymore. It's always with the insults and people thinking the game revolves around them rather than a team of five people. I'm not a girl so I won't pretend to know what that's like, but everyone does experience toxicity somewhat!
A game that's not really a competitive game is deep rock galactic and ive spent over 30 hours and only found one toxic person and all they did was call me stupid for dying
for me, i only got access to that kind of wholesome community with motorcycle racing irl. never see that shit in any online competitive game i ahd to touch grass
True, making qp sweatier, making an atrocious balancing only makes people even more mad, I can play hots, lol, paladins with any character I want, if I do good, no one talks shit, in overwatch if I pick genji and die to a hard counter at the first minutes, I should uninstall and kill myself
Fighting Games is like a whole different world in terms of community, it's so great. I've only been flamed twice in 400 hours of Guilty Gear Strive, but a bunch of people have told me positive, encouraging stuff. I regularly ask for advice after games and people are willing to give real help. I can't even imagine asking for advice after an OW match, it would be so toxic and unhelpful.
Finally it's getting back at streamers that they've been ignoring the biggest issue in ow2 for the entire time: the fact that there are no community features. They made the game actively worse to fight toxicity but the reality is, that you can't find any players to play with, people with rhe same mentality, there is no flow of information in ow so everyone stays bad, and the more casual players are not staying when there is no new content in between seasin starts. OW is supposed to be the game with the most team play, yet they try everything to not have people communicate with each other. I hate that eskay has no fun but it's kinda deserved for streamers ignoring this issue for they are usually not affected by it
Tank is just horrible lmao. As a masters tank player it is a horrid existence. You fluctuate between ranks based on your supports, and get blamed for every loss. 😅
Competitive games (especially FPS games) have always been toxic (See: Xbox Call of Duty lobbies, lmao) just due to being adrenaline-rush games that get your emotions flowing But I think they've been *especially* toxic nowadays because of how Gamers act when it comes to their games, just looking at posts on Twitter or the general type of content that gets pushed out for a variety of games (cough cough Minecraft & Overwatch), it just creates a massive culture of negativity, and that negativity is carried over into the gameplay While the players are the problem, the root of *that* problem is the content that surrounds the game. When there's a TON of negative content that's focused on a game, you end up with the general perception of the game being negative and it gets tiring fast, especially if you *know* the game isn't awful. It's hard to be positive when you're surrounded by negativity, and that ends up subconsciously transferring into player mindset when people play, thus you get people who never confront that they could be the issue at hand (Or they just don't think about what's actually happening)
true story that happened yesterday: random genji player: “yo i don’t mean to be rude by this but are you gay” me: “yeah” the genji: “you’re cracked at zarya holy fuck” huge surprise but gay guys can play people other than ana or mercy like hello
I'm a flex because I get bored easily, but at the start I played a lot of support because almost no one wanted to pick a support. It's not that I didn't want to play other roles but I also didn't want to make our team lose.
I think ur attitude of other communities being more wholesome is moreso that u havent become as jaded by them. Tekken can be quite toxic with pluggers and tbaggers and the majority of people playing the most mash friendly characters :/
It feels so nice to know that you’re comfortable in the Tekken Community! We have our spouts but I’m so glad everyone is treating you well and that you’re having fun
overwatch is one of the most toxic games ive ever played, its right up there with my years on call of duty LMFAO its not a matter of if someone will be toxic but when, and i play in metal ranks. its very satisfying to get the 'thanks for reporting' page though.
literally across all ranks ppl blame eachother after every game.. so much shit talking and insults. makes a role like tank a nightmare to play. if ur playing support you either heal too much or dps too much. its just so bad rn i fucking hate this game
The fgc is really positive because they dont have anyone to blame but themselves for a loss so they constantly try and improve on things they struggle with. In fps games why try and improve when you can just blame your teammates even when youre the problem. She is playing moira on controller and refuses to adapt, classic overwatch
But i wanna be heal boy with my girlfriend be attack girl! All our other couples friends are forcing us into girl support and boy attack like them nooooo!!!!
Its hilarious how often I've been attacked playing dps in this game by my QUICKPLAY opponents. It's very obvious too because they always call me by my username rather than the hero I'm playing. How dare i outplay you with my estrogen nerf!
Its so sad how instead of making changes that would make people want to play the game their only strategy are to enable drops lmfaoo......... The absolute state of ow2
Honestly I love baiting the toxic ones in text chat so that they say even worse things. Makes me feel amazing when I report them afterwards, even if it doesn’t get them banned.
What a weird take you had about 6v6. I was starting to like you too. I’m lgbtq but you called me Andrew Tate far right leaning because I like 6v6 better? I’m sad by your take. Do better.
It's not just FPS games. It's ALL online games. It's been endemic in league of legends to the point where it's been classified as a national security threat for damn near 15 years, it's a huge problem in world of tanks/warships/etc, it's been there in CS forever sure. Even games that have supposedly positive communities like Helldivers have the same problem. It really all comes from that cultural fondness of giving away your locus of control. Authoritarians LOVE that, so China/Russia/Trumpskis/etc push it everywhere and throw billions of dollars into fostering that culture. So you end up with millions of screaming incels. Also lol "valorant used to be that" you mean when people would use endpoint exploits to start pentesting your computer mid match? LMAO.
i need to do this bc lowkey ppl on there make me so mad, i don’t say anything bad i just throw a few be quiets or lol and i’ve been suspended twice, this is so smart tho
This is what everybody already does. It is so frustrating to feel like I'm talking into the void, the only person comming in competitive. It's COMPETITIVE! People should be trying their best to work as a team, but nobody ever says a word and I feel like a madman speaking into emptiness. Every so often I'll check the channel tab and it turns out it was just me all game, speaking when nobody could hear me. I swear I'm going insane.
@@matthewjungmann12 I'd say that winning a comp game of overwatch is not as important as keeping your mental health in a good state, but oh well. I guess it's just me who doesn't wanna hear slurs and insults over pixels on the screen.

The Tekken people are kind cos we are just happy some people wanna learn the game Q.Q
6:03 ah yes, the classic transfem problem. I am dehydrated 100% of the time. I can drink like 30 ounces of water and still be very dehydrated. Looking and feeling my best had to have *some* downside, I guess.
Have the nicest, relaxing vacation, gurl ❤
Yeah my favorite part of Overwatch is being afraid to comm with my team cus they might threaten to kill or r*pe me. I miss OW1’s community :(
Messed up people. Does the reporting system do anything.
If someone told me that girls can only play support, I swear I would do everything just to be top 1 dps just to contradict them haha
It's mostly why I just don't play comp anymore. It's always with the insults and people thinking the game revolves around them rather than a team of five people. I'm not a girl so I won't pretend to know what that's like, but everyone does experience toxicity somewhat!
Yeah it sucks that some people take the game so seriously they have to be nasty to others. I'd rather take the normal trashtalk than sexism though.
I FEEL THE SAME WAY WITH THE FLAME
“Why is my dps a girl”
As a female Kiriko otp, give me widow/tracer and I’ll show you why my winrate sits at 60%+ on both of them
Love that attitude
@@kitcat2449 and I’ll do it while looking pretty😤😹
Found your channel from the Sajam Slam! Sorry ow2 has been so toxic. Do you think you are gonna play more tekken in the future?
I love the Jirachi plush
A game that's not really a competitive game is deep rock galactic and ive spent over 30 hours and only found one toxic person and all they did was call me stupid for dying
top 1 funniest tweet in ow history
I just watched the end of the sajam slam and all I want to say I love you and I hope you keep playing Tekken
1:40 THIS. When people flame but aren’t even right about flaming. Literally the worst.
yeah why dont people talk in OW2? just started again and noticed there are no comms in silver where i got placed for dps lucio/moira
Eskay’s been playing Tekken???
Editor can we please get some videos of that? That’s hype!!!
Eskay you’re one of my favorite OW2 players! You’re awesome girl keep it up 💜
for me, i only got access to that kind of wholesome community with motorcycle racing irl. never see that shit in any online competitive game i ahd to touch grass
Does Lucio translate to good echo? Froggers most popular vid is echo to be fair
I would talk in games but I got muted for 2 weeks for pretty much nothing lmao
Jirachi facecam 😮
superior Pokémon :3
That's the environment blizzard made lol
“1v1 games are so wholesome maybe it’s cause you can’t text chat”
Dude I play smash and have since Brawl but they’re so awful these days
An overwatch killer would be paladins 2 if that ever happens.
Yoooooo 05:20 was crazy
WAIT NOBODY TALKS FOR U TOO I thought it was just meeeee
eskay your voice is so prettyyyyyyy i want a voice like yours so bad
tgirl power :)
🧢
Those voice cracks are pretty bad but I guess that is par for the course.
Competitive games (especially FPS games) have always been toxic (See: Xbox Call of Duty lobbies, lmao) just due to being adrenaline-rush games that get your emotions flowing
But I think they've been *especially* toxic nowadays because of how Gamers act when it comes to their games, just looking at posts on Twitter or the general type of content that gets pushed out for a variety of games (cough cough Minecraft & Overwatch), it just creates a massive culture of negativity, and that negativity is carried over into the gameplay
While the players are the problem, the root of *that* problem is the content that surrounds the game. When there's a TON of negative content that's focused on a game, you end up with the general perception of the game being negative and it gets tiring fast, especially if you *know* the game isn't awful. It's hard to be positive when you're surrounded by negativity, and that ends up subconsciously transferring into player mindset when people play, thus you get people who never confront that they could be the issue at hand (Or they just don't think about what's actually happening)
true story that happened yesterday:
random genji player: “yo i don’t mean to be rude by this but are you gay”
me: “yeah”
the genji: “you’re cracked at zarya holy fuck”
huge surprise but gay guys can play people other than ana or mercy like hello
someone says girl only play support... crap and weak excuse they can develop in any role or even flex
I'm a flex because I get bored easily, but at the start I played a lot of support because almost no one wanted to pick a support. It's not that I didn't want to play other roles but I also didn't want to make our team lose.
boothill theme go!
What's the code for the custom game at 2:58?
It is at the top right side of the screen dummy
Its on the screen, top right. "NADDS"
@@lolziz TY!
I play valo once a month in JP servers, you can meet cute girls with vc on thete and everyone at least pretends to be nice
At least I'm not using the gender my mom picked for me
?
what does this even mean XD
you said it wrong it’s supposed to be
“at least i’m using the gender i was born with”
eskay thank u for helping me get to mr
11 seconds no views. Sis fell off
28 and No Views for me
Stupid comment. Gotta love unoriginal jokes
U guys both have downsyndrome
This comment trend is super lame.
🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅 boo 🍅 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅
I play mostly support so I guess I fit the stereotype but I like dva too 😇
eskay gaming
overwatch is one of the most toxic games ive ever played, its right up there with my years on call of duty LMFAO its not a matter of if someone will be toxic but when, and i play in metal ranks. its very satisfying to get the 'thanks for reporting' page though.
literally across all ranks ppl blame eachother after every game.. so much shit talking and insults. makes a role like tank a nightmare to play. if ur playing support you either heal too much or dps too much. its just so bad rn i fucking hate this game
trash
SPLATOON WINS
The fgc is really positive because they dont have anyone to blame but themselves for a loss so they constantly try and improve on things they struggle with. In fps games why try and improve when you can just blame your teammates even when youre the problem. She is playing moira on controller and refuses to adapt, classic overwatch
comment
But i wanna be heal boy with my girlfriend be attack girl! All our other couples friends are forcing us into girl support and boy attack like them nooooo!!!!
damn
What happens if you don’t play overwatch, is blizzard gonna put a hit out on you?
Its hilarious how often I've been attacked playing dps in this game by my QUICKPLAY opponents. It's very obvious too because they always call me by my username rather than the hero I'm playing.
How dare i outplay you with my estrogen nerf!
“Their a lucio one trick.” And obviously ur a moira one trick ur not swapping either😭😭
I would try marvel rivals if it was free
Oh wait
Should really call people out. Say names instead of “people”
Its so sad how instead of making changes that would make people want to play the game their only strategy are to enable drops lmfaoo......... The absolute state of ow2
5v5 makes the game worse imo
Honestly I love baiting the toxic ones in text chat so that they say even worse things. Makes me feel amazing when I report them afterwards, even if it doesn’t get them banned.
What a weird take you had about 6v6. I was starting to like you too. I’m lgbtq but you called me Andrew Tate far right leaning because I like 6v6 better? I’m sad by your take. Do better.
Based
6v6 eskay is a shill
like the british currency?
LMAO.
So the conclusion is: hirls only can play support
you're not though.....
she is? :0
@@AliceMGT how
@@HelloPrettyFace100 how is she not one? she's trans sure...doesnt make her less of a girl than me.
@@AliceMGT so whats between your legs?
The attitude around competitive games sucks man. The only solution to toxicity is to be extremely aggressive in banning people, but then no one talks.
Its almost as if sexism is in part natural?
???
What are you cooking? Sexism is natural? You're in the wrong fucking chat lil bro
Well, stupid people do just appear randomly in the wild so I guess you've got a point
Appeal to nature fallacy.
Ignorance is natural, knowledge is learned
that moira asking the sig to swap but refusing to swap herself is classic overwatch
It's the classic Mercy/Moira main move right there
Save your mental. Disable text chat, only talk in voice if someone else talks first and passes vibe check, mute if toxic. This is the way.
i need to do this bc lowkey ppl on there make me so mad, i don’t say anything bad i just throw a few be quiets or lol and i’ve been suspended twice, this is so smart tho
real
@@masterpieceofsunset61THIS. winning a game is not as important to me as my mental wellbeing. these people do not get the privilege of being able to communicate with their team if they’re gonna be toxic imo, so my comms stay closed. if y’all want to be able to talk to me you need to learn healthy communication fr.
