One of my main rules in all online games: IF. YOU. TALK. FIRST. EXPECT PEOPLE TO TALK BACK. They fr at the end of the second match are like “it’s a whole new game” like wtf your toxic ass didn’t disappear, you expecting what you said to? Nahhhh

What I don't understand is how we've gone 7 years in Overwatch and people STILL do not realize that the only way for a DPS to actually do their thing is for them to have space. Space a tank is supposed to create by either having a shielding abilities or using distraction/disruption like Ball or Doomfist does, or space created by diving a target together.
It was 100% clear from the part of the game we saw that Rammatra was not creating the space needed for the DPS to perform after the fight at the center was lost.
That's only 1/2 true. What about reaper flanks? Sombra invis flanks? Tracer? Widow doesn't need a tank to be good,
if reaper flanks when no one else is making space 5 people turn around and shoot them with no risk
same for sombra and tracer
if widow doesn't have a tank, she gets pressured out by spam or dive and can never get value

I would never flame my team even if it was their fault. If your team sucks they're not going to suck less after you flame them. I've had really great mercy players on my team, but if the team can't utilize the damage boosts and no one protects her during a rez we're not going to realize her utility. You can often compensate for a mediocre tank, but if they're just straight feeding we have big problems.
this is what i never get, i could have someone on my team playing awfully and i will never say anything unless im trying to help them out by suggesting a swap that might work better. i dont understand the point of flaming teammates, if anything they'll play worse bc they'll get tilted
This is what so many players don’t understand, and what keeps them at their ranks. Getting upset at your team only makes them preform worse. By being calm and understanding your team is more likely to hear and listen to you. I asked a DPS to switch to Pharah and they did! Guarantee if I screamed at them or was rude they wouldn’t of had and we would’ve lost!
Bro I always feel like ass cause I feel like I don't hit my shots. I most do though considering my accuracy is 34 - 45% (with Ashe) but I feel like ass every time I have a boosting mercy on me.

Yeah I never flame my own or even the enemy team. Sometimes it close though lmao, just recently had a push game and we ended up losing the last fight because the mei fat fingered their ult just a bit earlier, it was a sad sad day that day, but accidents happen, at the end of the day it's meant to be a game to have fun with, don't take the funny pixels on the screen so seriously that you end up being an asshole to another human being.
You can switch characters FREELY. The amount of people that adamantly refuse to take advantage of that is mind blowing.
Tbf, for some people its genuinely unfun to constantly swap. But when you're in Masters ans looking to rank up, I dont think forcing your way through unless you're some goated one trick is the way
I wouldn't say "freely". You lose ult charge which is a big factor in determining who wins the team fights.
fr, its like people in my rank forget that to counter you have or need to switch characters if you or your team is being heavily dived on. you dont always have to expect someone on your team has to do it, sometimes it may even be you that may have to switch because it can potentially solve the problem and this irritates me as even if we do it, my team still don't switch and still has the audacity to call you or others out for the '___ diff/gap' :/ but tbh i just accept the L and move on, the next game might be lucky for me
@@cagxplays9602 for the first fight a swap to a counter is on theory a winning move, but after that its ult game economy and stuff which turns the whole discussion wack. But if you think you can win off a swap then you swap.

Tbh this is pretty much exactly what I thought would happen when they introduced a scoreboard to the game. 99.9% of the playerbase can't read it correctly and blames everyone else but as Eskay says, it's not a single person's fault (most of the time anyways)
It immediately became an extra excuse for people to be toxic. It doesn't provide any context to the numbers. The amount of times I have people immediately start raging at DPS/Support because we got wiped in the first team fight, therefore their numbers are "shit", is just depressing. No duh! They died very quickly! The train these people ride ends at the very first station.

I feel this. I was playing dps and it just wasn't my day. Two games in a row I got stomped. Third game I wasn't pulling my weight but was getting a few picks and felt so bad about winning

See, the way you explained how every person affects each other is exactly why some people just flatly fail at this game. Overwatch is closer to rock, paper, scissors, then an actually 'shooter', and understanding your role, your hero, and the counters that exist (for both sides) is imperative in this team scenario. People just tunnel vision and let their emotions dictate their judgement. Great video

Pretty easy to just turn off voice chat permanently, I've done that a month after the game came out. The game is a lot more fun that way. They have a lot of options for communication now, like the ping system and adding things to the wheel.

I like to use the scoreboard as a measure of tempo across the game. Measure where value is coming from. If I see low damage but high elims on a dps, I can assume they are making strong plays with little trash damage. Thats about all its good for so you can make determinations of where gaps in the enemy team and your team are. Thats not the entire story though. A low elim widow looks bad on the scoreboard, but what if her elims are low because the enemy team is playing overly safe after a few good picks and its causing them to lose ground to easily. Ego has gotten really bad and stat padders are some of the worst

Tbh people just have tunnel vision and extremely low awareness of what's going on around them so they rely on the scoreboard. In a masters game we were WINNING a dps decided to pick out my damage on Kiriko as the problem why we weren't winning as hard as they thought we should be? Weird to begin with. while all my kills that game were solo opening picks at the start of team fights that won us the fights and you could easily know that if you paid attention. The rest of my dmg was just chip dmg on well picked targets to pressure them from being able to fully engage. Their widow was afraid to peek, their Ana was having to take bad angles. There wasn't a lot of room to do big scoreboard dmg because the people I shot at died lol. It was a great game for me where all dmg and kills I got was effective. Meanwhile I suzu'd a Tracer bomb off this person 4 times. So I was totally baffled why I was being flamed by them. Just total unaware stupidity. Hurr durr your dmg is low
I know. I actually think it's wild that some people get emotional and flame their team's weakest link... The alpha dog thing to do in that scenario is to strengthen your weakest link even if it's coming at a cost to your playstyle. Encourage them, or play around them a bit more. It makes little bits of critical advice through the voice comms much easier/politer overall. "You're overextending" is easier to understand and swallow when those people have team support. At the very least, I feel saner than I do getting frustrated at people who seem immune to team play. @@MugeTzu4

I'm very glad that the Tracer stepped up and defended Eskay. There's so many DPS that hop on with the toxic players to they fit in and don't get shit talked. It's players like Eskay and tracer that make me have slight hope in games.

Nice job Eskay, especially when you try to stay positive. Had a match last night and the tank also blame me for low damage number and dps gap when enemy widow is popping off. I muted him, swap to Tracer, and just helped my team to a win. Bet he still thinks my damage is too low at the end haha. Can't help these people with massive ego strokes.
Your mental can legit gain you rank so fast. I've been hardstuck gold 3-5 for months and this week I was like nah I'm done with blaming ppl and playing for stats. I am now plat 1... after one week. Listen when Eskay teaches.

I appreciate how at the end of the first game Eskay explains how the game could've been played better. You can have mechanical skill, but to really understand the intricacies in interaction between team comps takes genuine mastery, and actually playing to support teammates to allow for their roles to succeed is something you can only really do by looking back at your own gameplay and your own replays to understand the impact you are leaving in a game.
I can understand why other OW content creators suggest looking over your own replays, so if I ever get into competitive I can physically see where I need improving, where I would make mistakes, and how the enemy team is applying pressure. This is what they mean when they tell you to focus on your own improvement, since chances are there's always something you could do better, and flaming teammates will help nobody improve or win games, it's just needless harassment in my opinion.
some times when i see someone saying this kind of shit(if i have patience) i just i just say "sure, so show me how to do and carry us to victory, mr. top 1". Ironically they normally rage after a time and the game become a comedy to me lol

It's not only abt tanks, also often I had games where I played Cass (left click only) and other DPS was Junk. So our Junk didn't create any pressure as I'd do, he just stood afk spamming, and he felt more DMG obviously but he didn't kill anything himself. So I had pretty good game for myself this day and I was clicking heads. And I was killing 2-3 ppl myself w no help, using just 2 clicks per each. Ofc I had less DMG! But when I was dying my team literally struggled cos I was observing what my mate doing - he was just trashdamaging, meaning he did g that glwas healed, and team got no kills. We lost this game cos enemies realized I'm the only threat in our team so they just focused me, my tank didn't care. In the end tank and supps said I'm bad cs I had less DMG than junk. How stupid ppl are.

I may be a little off on this take, but I feel like its the tanks job to hold the team together. Tanks need to be team players in order to get value from all the damage they should be mitigating. Its the supports job to hold the tank together, with heals and cc. The dps rely on both of them to do their jobs in order to punish the enemies mistakes. If one role fails, like in this video (the tank being toxic and not a team player) everything falls apart. (In lower ranks usually.)

secondly why was he just punching the other ram? there’s so many other options like poking the backline to alleviate pressure, forcing engage with nade by calling an all in, even just communicating with your team instead of being toxic and blaming everyone else for your own poor play would be good
tank doesn’t need the most mechanical skill for value, just good positioning and gamesense will get you really far
After not really playing much tank but doing so lately I definitely feel this. I feel like you can also dictate the whole flow of the fight as the tank in terms of both teams mental. If you play very aggro on tank and it works, then everyone on Ur team gets more confident and the enemy can get less confident which helps you keep the momentum.
No, you’re actually spot on. Tanks control space. Without space, the other two roles can’t function. If the tank isn’t doing their job, you get steamrolled. It’s why I absolutely don’t like to tank under any circumstances. It’s too much pressure, especially now that there’s only one tank per team lol

You gave very helpful advice. As a tank player, seeing other tanks just 1v1 the enemy tank the whole time drives me insane 😂😂😂 in certain situations I get taking the 1v1. But when they tunnel vision the enemy tank the entire game I seriously cringe!

I've already watched some videos of Eskay (specially the challenges in Jay3's channel) and I must say: this video made me a subscriber. Not because you "put them in the right place", but because the view of the team that you had AND the patience to try to teach these (insert here an adjective that describes those kind of players) that although it is a TEAM based game, we must focus on trying to improving our INDIVIDUALS abilities too. I honestly found that these games are just too damaging to my mental state. They claim to require teamwork and cooperation but that's not what you find. As you said I would focus on myself when it came to teams like this but then I realized maybe I should just stop. There are plenty of other games that don't have a toxic community. I went back to battlefield 1, Deep Rock Galactic, hell even went back to Dark Souls. All of them had a much more postitive environment. In BF1 pilots were bantering across team in a friendly manner. DRG is DRG, that game is just positivity everywhere. Dark Souls focuses on improving the player. Meanwhile Overwatch just focuses on putting others down.
The best feeling is when they are on the enemy team.
any time a game is going wrong, always start by asking "what could I be doing differently?" then ask "what is the enemy doing that is putting our team in a rough spot?" and the las question you should be asking is "what is my team doing wrong?"
And don't forget a little confidence. Expect to make mistakes and laugh. Was losing Havana so hard to a Widow/Ram/Bap last night, me playing Symmetra mostly. Swapped to Sombra and had a blast. I think our egos can get in the way not only of being critical of ourselves but also of being encouraging toward ourselves. That Widow felt like a goddess. But uh...she really had to adjust her playstyle once one of the enemy DPS had the ability to remain invisible, and she ended up swapping off her comfort pick to Sombra too lol. And we won.

@@user-zs6cl6td4t as a guy practicing a female voice just for jokes(and partially for singing), the time it takes to perfect it depends alot on talent. people that are very talented with their voice, can get it down in just a few weeks. those of us(yes, including me) without the talent for it, may take months or even years depending on how much time you dedicate to practicing. whether you have talent or not though, it is still possible. just keep practicing and dedicating yourself to developing your voice and you will get the voice you want.

I can relate. I've had a game like this: my tank and dps completely forgotten abt me and another support and were only remembering us when they needed healing, while we were dead bc enemy Tracer were doing great, she was killing us one after another. That was awful
@Fultonian oh, I get it. Sometimes it's rly fun doing smthn with other support. Especially killing 😈 But that game was different. Tracer wasn't trying to kill both of us immediately, only one by one. So it was kinda difficult to synchronize with each other. And we both needed to help our teem somehow. While if I was trying to kill her by myself it always ended up with my death 🥲

@Fultonian fr this, landing a good sleep on tracer then having Zen fully charged staring at her face is genuinely some of the funniest shit. Tracers are a pain in the ass and I love them for it (in Ana's words, it keeps me sharp) lmao

I kinda get why it feels ego when she said look at my profile to the other. But at the same time. It feels like 'yo I'm this rank I know what I'm talking about before I even give you tips' before she ever had a chance to give the two those tips on how to improve. And pretty sure she would helped both if those two even let her. Considering she did gave those tips in that commentary section of the match.

Petty Eskay is what I live for
Honestly I can't be bothered by the comms or stuff, so I turn them off, that can be quite a disadvantage yes but I learned the way people move their characters to signify their motives and assists them. In another way to see it, I am not good at socializing both irl and in games, just a bit of amnosity towards me easily breaks me down and makes me lose motivation. So if I were to meet those two, I'd likely just lose hope in myself.
I totally get it, it sucks when people are rude or saying you're shit or anything like that, so I never say stuff like that to people. I think one thing ow players need to learn is that it's ok to lose some games, since almost every loss results in everyone trying to blame each other.

I think the thing I like the most about eskay is that even when she's instigating, she is still respectful. She's not emoting or waving, not teabagging, not really doing anything except legitimately trying to help them.
I wouldn't have been able to stay so respectful like that. It's what made me become a fan from being just a viewer.

Its always been such a big problem in OW. Players just cant own their own shit especially in low ranks where so many players are hard stuck into not having any idea why games are won or lost. when I see people in low ranks say "insert-role diff" my eyes roll back so hard they pop out of my moth like an eyeball filled gumball machine.

As a mercy main myself, I will tell you, her [Kat/Mercy's] positioning was absolutely terrible. She constantly put herself in the open, and didn't utilize her flying to put her onto a highground where she could peak-heal. No wonder her and her boyfriend are stuck in gold. --- And Im saying this as someone who's a quickplay gremlin, and hasn't been placed in rank since season 1-3 in OW1.

I hate that your own team hates you more than the enemy in this game. I don't know if it was always like this (played since 2016, started comp in ow2) but people have been really toxic and angry all of the sudden. Probably because it went free to play.
