I used to play my first drums using the hit-hat pedal as an another bass pedal for 5 years. As a warning I'll say, it will be pretty hard to learn how to play real double pedals if you do that for that long.
Yes, that is a plus. However, you may want a better stool, and the VEVOR Hydraulic Saddle Drum Throne Stool with Backrest is on at a very reasonable price on eBay these days. I know, I got one, and it's great.
Me too, but I don't really like the sounds coming with the kit. And I don't want to go buy software to import better sounds in to them. So I think I'm going with an Alesis kit instead.
They can be good for pretty much anyone even pro's. This one is on the cheaper side and if you don't like something about it just buy better replacement. If you want higher quality sounds they're way cheaper than whole new kit.

In doing so I’m leaning towards making a purchase of this same set. I’ve had a Yamaha electronic kit for years which is starting to go out. Instead of finding replacement pads I think it’s best to invest in the donner set. Thanks for sharing.
I play the drums for over 50 years, swore by my Ludwig set and my Zildjian cymbals and look down on anything that weren't traditional drums. Having seen this video I humbly and unabashedly admit that I was close-minded. I still have my full set of Ludwig's, but I am very tempted to buy this set. Great video too!

Here it is a year later and I finally picked up this kit. Black Friday sale for $360. I have picked up sticks in like 25 years, so I got a lot of practicing to do. If we had this back then, I never would have given it up. None the less, I'm in love. Can't wait to plug it into a DAW.

This kit looks and sounds about as good as the Roland TD-6KW i had a while back, and that cost more than double this kit, and only had a mesh snare, 2 cymbals and no accessories. Great value this thing

If this is straight out the box it sounds a hell of alot better than the alesis set i have. These pads seem legit and looks like it would feel more like a drum kit rather than playing on a mousepad 😂
Which alesis do you have? This kit sounds awful. But then again, most people would probably hook this up to and just use midi. The machine gunning is so bad, there must only be about 3 velocities per hit. For 400 bucks I'd get an old Roland or a the td02 kit.
@@rena8904 the nitro isn't great but it still sounds better than this. I know people who've used a nitro mesh to record an album and with some EQ and compression it's just about usable, certainly good enough for demos. This donner kit sounds terrible, even in the hands of Samus, which says something. As a midi controller though, it's perfect.

I bought one of these donner kits last year without without the stool to teach myself to play and although i still suck the kit still sounds really good with no dead spots.
Dude this is way better than the $550 dollar Alesis set I bought and returned not that long ago…the kick pad barely registered the hits and the whole thing just felt cheap and flimsy…I’m not getting that impression from this kit. Right on! ❤
I highly doubt that, have you ever played on a Donner kit before? I felt tricked when I bought the ded-400 that samus demo'd a while back and regret ever buying something I didn't play first. Just saying that a single mesh Alesis kit is likely going to be better than anything Donner makes.

Yes you did actually play and go through it all which was awesome and I appreciate that, but maybe what I was looking for is something you weren’t impressed with or something that could’ve been better or what you really loved about it I guess more of a verbal review than since I’m not an expert at all? Comments from only four months ago say they bought this and they love it but wondering why it has the reviews it does then? Just looking for some clarity as I want to make the right decision, and there are so many to choose from! ❤
This looks like the extra cymbal version (currently $469), not the $419 version with only 3 cymbals. Either way, thanks for the review on this. A friend of mine won one of these kits in an online contest. I bought it from him when he needed a few dollars. It's not a bad kit for the money. I have two accoustic kits that I play. This is the first "E" kit that I've ever owned. Gonna pass it on and get a bit better one for a few smaller gigs that we do.

Your videos are great, and your humor cracks me up. Keep it up man! I bought this kit at Christmas time when it was first released. (I somehow got it for close to half this price, wow) I love it. It's my first electronic kit. And it's all I play on now. I was amazed at the quality, and responsiveness of all of these components at this price point. The drum throne was pretty bad, but hey, at least they throw it in. I considered it a freebee that would get someone by until they have a chance to get a decent one. The headphones were surprisingly clear and sounded very good. I would highly recommend this kit as well.
Does the sound differ from how hard you hit it. I don’t think he did a test in this video and I’m wondering for myself, hoping to get this kit for Christmas yk

I bought it. It's a lot of fun. I use it almost every day. Trying to learn some songs as well as make my own beats. Still can't get the speed and power in my left hand yet.
It’s a good kit for beginners like myself it’s the one I got to start out because of all the stuff it came with. And got mine on Prime day off Amazon and got it for about $380, I did upgrade on the throne already but I went with the Donner brand throne and I love it.

I bought the older DED-400 kit a few years ago because I saw it being reviewed on one of Samus's videos and I wasn't disappointed. It is targeted at the beginner drummer, but it's also great if you're an old guy like me (almost 60) and you want to get back into drumming to get some exercise in. One caveat: If you're a "heavy-handed" drummer like I was (am), you'll eventually be replacing the piezo sensors. But you know what? I asked for a replacement drum because I actually pulverized some of the foam rubber as well as breaking the wires off the sensor and they just SENT ME ANOTHER KIT. Donner stands behind their product; they don't leave you hanging. They'll ask you to do some simple troubleshooting and take it from there. I just learned to turn down the music in the headset and that makes me less aggressive with the playing and I haven't had one go bad since. If the DED-200 upgrade is anything like its older cousin, you are in for a LOT of fun! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR REVIEWS, SAMUS!!! You made this old guy VERY HAPPY.
I'm surprised you were able to communicate with Donner company. I have tried a few times and just got unintelligent babble from some dp who obviously couldn't speak English.
That is awesome value for money. My one and only electronic kit I brought was a Roland TD3. It didn't come with half of what that was. I remember spending $4500 to get the kit, extra cymbal, boom arm and kick pedal. Hated playing on it with the cappy rubber pads, much prefered my acoustic kit to it.
Every review i have seen for this kit is glowing. I just got this kit and out of the box it won’t do any of the complex things you are doing. Did you have to tighten the heads or the sensitivity settings or anything? Yours sounds great like so many other videos I have seen and that’s exactly why I bought this kit. I’ve been drumming for 25 years now and it won’t do double bass or a snare roll. It’s probably user error. If you or anyone have any suggestions that would be rad! Thanks in advance.

The addition of the sound of enormous strain while peeling the plastic off the module's display was a very nice touch!

A friend of mine won one of these kits in an online contest. I bought it from him when he needed a few dollars. It's not a bad kit for the money. I have two accoustic kits that I play. This is the first "E" kit that I've ever owned. Gonna pass it on and get a bit better one for a few smaller gigs that we do.
Did anyone else notice that the "Crash/ride" box was spelt wrongly as "Carsh/ ride"

I bought this kit at Christmas time when it was first released. (I somehow got it for close to half this price, wow) I love it. It's my first electronic kit. And it's all I play on now. I was amazed at the quality, and responsiveness of all of these components at this price point. The drum throne was pretty bad, but hey, at least they throw it in. I considered it a freebee that would get someone by until they have a chance to get a decent one. The headphones were surprisingly clear and sounded very good. I would highly recommend this kit as well.

It’s a good kit for beginners like myself it’s the one I got to start out because of all the stuff it came with. And got mine on Prime day off Amazon and got it for about $380, I did upgrade on the throne already but I went with the Donner brand throne and I love it.

I bought the older DED-400 kit a few years ago because I saw it being reviewed on one of Samus's videos and I wasn't disappointed. It is targeted at the beginner drummer, but it's also great if you're an old guy like me (almost 60) and you want to get back into drumming to get some exercise in. One caveat: If you're a "heavy-handed" drummer like I was (am), you'll eventually be replacing the piezo sensors. But you know what? I asked for a replacement drum because I actually pulverized some of the foam rubber as well as breaking the wires off the sensor and they just SENT ME ANOTHER KIT. Donner stands behind their product; they don't leave you hanging. They'll ask you to do some simple troubleshooting and take it from there. I just learned to turn down the music in the headset and that makes me less aggressive with the playing and I haven't had one go bad since.
If the DED-200 upgrade is anything like its older cousin, you are in for a LOT of fun! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR REVIEWS, SAMUS!!! You made this old guy VERY HAPPY.

Killer playing! I bought a drumpad and some sticks a month ago.
That is awesome value for money. My one and only electronic kit I brought was a Roland TD3. It didn't come with half of what that was. I remember spending $4500 to get the kit, extra cymbal, boom arm and kick pedal. Hated playing on it with the cappy rubber pads, much prefered my acoustic kit to it.
Every review i have seen for this kit is glowing. I just got this kit and out of the box it won’t do any of the complex things you are doing. Did you have to tighten the heads or the sensitivity settings or anything? Yours sounds great like so many other videos I have seen and that’s exactly why I bought this kit. I’ve been drumming for 25 years now and it won’t do double bass or a snare roll. It’s probably user error. If you or anyone have any suggestions that would be rad! Thanks in advance.
