Today we are attempting to install the 1949 Cadillac grille that we found in a junkyard to the front of our full custom 1953 Chevy truck. Will it fit, or is this entire project doomed to return back to the junkyard it came out of?

I was gonna spend this money on a Thanksgiving turkey to feed my poor, starving family but I decided your channel was more deserving.
At least you have your priorities straight.
Hahah thanks Chris! I hope your family will forgive you!
Don’t let it bother you, there’s plenty of turkeys, but only one chicken truck ,open a can of pork and beans ,priority’s .
Best comment ever.
Thanks Tom and no name for helping Kyle out good people you are !
Well, I'm leaving two thumbs up. The grille gives the project class and today's designers should be embarrassed. As a Chevy fan, I salute you.
Thanks Jerry!
Thanks Tom and anonymous! What great car guys! And I love the direction the chicken truck is going!
Gotta appreciate the way Kyle cuts up classic parts without hesitation. He's definitely an artist.
I like the way the grill is moving, good eye for style there. It will be one of a kind for sure. Thank you to all who have donated and thanks to our fabricator as well. Very entertaining! Happy turkey day as well.
Man I can see your vision for the 35 Chevy it’s awesome can’t wait. The bowtie back glass and tuned port SBC is the icing on the cake
I remember changing the fuel pressure regulator on one in the early 90's. What a nightmare
Glad to see more of the chicken truck. It's fairly impressive how well that caddy grill actually fits to the truck.
Briquetaverne and Tom are legends! Not to forget the anonymous donors either!! Thanks Kyle for the great video. Looking forward for more content!
Astrovan door handles! I laughed out loud at that one. The chicken truck is starting to look good. I'm getting excited!
Your vision is really starting to come together. This thing is gonna be sweet when it's done
I had almost forgotten how bad those 90s rods looked. What have you done bringing that nightmare back to the front of my brain? 😢
You're welcome. Haha!
"And was lookin' real good. Like Natalie Wood On a Pontiac hood." - John Prine. Thanks for the great video Kyle.
Haha nice! Thanks for watching!
I love the ideas for the 35! Hot pink is an excellent colour and statement. Very progressive really..
What an awesome Thanksgiving surprise for us lower 48 residents. Happy Thanksgiving Kyle.
Sometimes it's hard to get ideas from the head to the hands LOL....
All the mods and grafted peices really do come together nicely. Very much looking forward to the sheet metal fabrication from the bucks. That will really showcase your skills. Ill say it again, carters auto restyling, my favorite RUclips content!!
You have such a good eye for what work's on these old beauties, you picked a good name for your channel. I was so glad to see a video, because I'm down for awhile from having a knee replacement that took over 3 hour's, when the surgeon said it should take 45 minutes. I told the guy i had an MRI back in 2018, and that it showed a cyst in my tibia where i had ACL reconstruction in 09, and a ganglion cyst growing around my tendons. The guy was trying to tell me it was something else, and only took a dang x ray. After surgery, i had no family with me because they're mostly gone, but this Dr. tells me nothing but it was a mess in there. They did blood woork before the surgery, and afterwards, which i have never had them do even after, even when the original work accident that jacked up my whole leg. I wrote all the stuff down, and all the blood counts were below normal, and my white blood count was way above high, but was normal before surgery, that's why they kept me longer and were giving me i.v. antibiotics. I'm saying all this, because always have an advocate with you, and don't let them tell you you don't know your own body, and get a second opinion if they don't listen. I know 4 people right now having to be the Dr. to tell them what the problem is, two of these people almost died. Sorry for goung off on here, but the medical help is garbage no matter where you live, and filled with such bs, it's not just the quality of the junk being made today.
G-d bless, and the chicken tryck is getting a new grill so he doesn't feel so violated. Bei g i. Michigan, not looking forward to the snow, come on spring.
George and Sam Barris would be proud. I look forward to your videos and always learn something. Thank you for sharing with us!
@@chriszucker7500 thanks for watching!
The Chevy bowtie rear windoww had me rolling on the floor! Thank you. I needed to laugh like that again!
Glad you got a laugh out of that one! Haha
I like te way the chicken truck is progressing as a custom a lot of Great ideas. That grill once you get the rest of that hood to match is gonna look Killer Kyle. Loves seeing your cats Kyle my poor Duke I had for 18 years passed away last week. I had him and my Dog Chubby in some of my you tube videos. Thanks for the video.
Hi Larry, very sorry to hear about Duke. All the best to you from me and the cats.
Crazy guy... LOL you got a grin on m,y face with your 90's custom crap!! Love what you do. Awesome.
Springtime in Saskatchewan...
So July??? 🤣🤣🤣
Yup!
For me, this is one of the most inspiring and exciting projects on youtube at the moment!
Glad to see you're back on the chicken truck! Also, I've never heard a more accurate summary of a standard 90's custom.
I think your 90s street-rod plans for the Chev are on the mark and awesome... I'm assembling a mob as we speak.. (do you have any pitch forks, or should we bring our own?) Cheers from the Shed
Have fun storming the castle Randahl! 🤓
There are still a few pitchforks left behind from the last angry mob. I will be renting them out for $15.95 per day. All non-authorized pitchforks will be confiscated and rented out to the next angry mob...
@@CarterAutoRestyling 😆
@@CarterAutoRestyling a bit off topic but in the last couple of videos my comments seem to get deleted even after a couple of tries. wonder if this happens to others.
I can not believe the amount of snow that you have gotten. Thankfully Upstate NY has not gotten any. Great progress and craftmanship on the truck.
Thanks Tom , for helping him out , he really does deserve it .😊 I think he does excellent work with all kidding aside!
i agree
Thanks! So glad you decided to get the kit and swap in an LS. The tilted French license plate and bow tie rear window completes the look!
Thank you Glen! I'm glad you approve of the plans for the 35 haha
And the teal stripe will make it……wait for it………wait for it……..POP!
The ol' chicken truck is gonna be wild! Love the Caddy grill.
I'll say it again, you're hilarious Kyle. Keep up the fun, I'm digging it.
Great to see Kyle wrenching and fabricating again. Wow you have a lot of snow. We are enjoying sunny skies here in South Africa. Take care and be safe.
What a great idea for the Chevy sedan Kyle, But maybe try to find one in better shape to start with. Kick off the 90's revival!
Gobble Gobble from the States. Thanks Kyle.
Yay! The Chickenmobile is back in action! Loving the Caddy grill. Nothing like Chicken grilled in a Caddy...or something...
The 90s Boyd thing? DO IT! Just to make people cry. PLEASE OH PLEASE DO IT! (I used to have a rod with those sawblade alloy rims back in the early 2000s).
I really like the bull nose look. Its what i like about the front of my 46 stylemaster.
Nice to see you and your cats again, seems a long time.
Kyle, when you're finished with the chicken truck you ought to drive it by the boneyard you bought it from with a few pictures of what you started off with just to see their reaction.
That would be fun!
Wow, you guys really got hit with winter. I was still raking leaves yesterday, but it started snowing some pathetic white birdshit type of snow today in Ontario.
Hats off to Tom.
As all your other followers, I really appreciate the generosity of Tom and other donors who make your projects and the videos we all enjoy possible. Best wishes.
Now that's a back yard ! Nice
A combined front bumper/anti sway bar, innovative.
You made me watch almost thirty minutes of cool hotrod stuff and like only one minute of the true stars of this show
Hi Kyle. The Cadilac bumper and grill look awesome on the chicken truck! Pretty interesting to see the blue green tarnish on the underside of the top rail when you turned it over. I imagine that was from the copper plating done before the chrome plating from when the grill was made. Thanks Tom and the anonymous donors for helping with the chicken truck project.
The Caddy grill is just perfect! And the bumper is just great!
Im sure some people just watch the video and don't listen to what's being said . Keep up the good work Kyle 👌👌
Gonna watch this again w my wife and I'm scared she's gonna love what you have planned for the 35.
You’re a wizard with that hammer!
You have heard of Thor
Holy crap you got hammered in Saskatoon. Over here in Edmonton, we got our first snow just a little while ago but nothing like that!
Yes! The chicken truck is back! I think you should build it out of plaster and bondo. And put an electric motor in it. 😂
Seriously, the front end is looking good.
Nice, love the 40,s era bull nose look.
Grill choice looks great!
1990 A good year for hair and really cool clothing but that is about it! You may be just the guy to bring the good old days back, what with your clothing already a hit! You are a trender A. Thank you.
I really like how the snow squeaks. Reminds me of my childhood.
👍 bow tie back window
Also I’m as pumped about the front end as you are.
Great work Kyle. I'm a fan of your metal fabrications and sarcasm. But seriously, the pink and teal treatment really started in the 80's. I have a pile of Hot Rod and Car Craft magazines to prove it. As far as saw blade wheels go, I'm a fan of the original Torq Thrust wheels and have them on 3 of my cars.
Put that '35 onna '10 Camry "n you'd have one sweet Toylet!!!
NICE!!!
I'm making a simple guess on the center horizontal grill bar.... 1949 Ford turn signal/marker lights.
Like i said...simply a guess....
I hadn't thought of that, but I actually really like that idea! Thanks!
I like where you’re going with the design of he truck.
Looking forward to seeing your next video . All the best!
You didn't mention it, but the Pontiac hood peak also works well with the hint of a peak in the roof directly above the split windshield. Nice! Always enjoy your sense of humor 🙂
when you got mad and threw the bezels to the ground I got a flashback to a 1980s song by the talking heads called psyhco killer.
Love the looks of the Caddy grill. I was thinking about the same as your tape/paper idea just before you showed it. Once the bumper is modified to fit it's gonna be the chickens cluck. B.B.B., big, bold, beautiful and in your face. Thanks Tom and un-named donator.
Only one minute ago you posted this video. Thanks, I am going to enjoy it the next half hour.
HAHAHA on the 90's street rod........... you forgot the billet aluminum gear shifter, steering wheel, gas and break pedals .....ect ect ... Boyd was single handedly on the edge of putting billet aluminum on the endangered species list... if he lived a few years longer he would have made a entire car out of it ;) ( all kidding he was a guy who truly loved the addiction to cars).
I personally like the Beluga whale look you see most performantly on the 1938 willys, but the 1940 ford and willys really nailed it in my opinion.
You caught me out! I was really enjoying the music on this episode and was going to congratulate you on your choices right up until the “generous dudes and cat” segment at the end there. OK, it was alright, just unexpected. Loved watching you crunch about in the snow, reminded me that here in the U.K. we endured the worst snow storm for about 26 gazillion years recently. At least 3 inches and laid for almost 4 days thanks to those minus 6 degree C temps. We are tough in the north aren’t we? Good vid.
Happy turkey day! That caddy grill with Pontiac nose for hood is perfect! Kicking out grill made big difference. Thanks for video Kyle.
It was really thoughtful of you to spread all of that fake snow around the street for our Thanksgiving pleasure , to put us into the Holiday spirit .
Great project..I continue to enjoy your build. Great job on the bezels.
Wow Kyle! You have tons of snow! I grew up just south of Brandon, I know snow, I moved to BC to get away from that stuff lol. Great content, thank you
Watching this from Florida. I forgot that it's snowing up that way. But Florida is way too hot in July and August especially.
Kyle, you are a true visionary. With just a hint of delusion. I can’t wait to see what eventually emerges from your chamber of creativity.
I like the direction you are going with this! Nice job Tom and ? who ever you are for donating to this project!
Good one!!!! I threw up a little bit when I thought you were going to put that waterfall on the hood. I like what you did with the grill, that's the perfect angle. I'm eager to see your process for making the panels(not the spray foam ones).Thank you for a great show, see you next time.
The Cadillac grill looks good on the Chicken Truck. Getting the tail lights, sure got you out of a jam. It would have been hard to find good ones (if you could) at the salvage yard. You can keep the snow, I haven't gotten any yet down here in my neck of the woods.
Loving the front end Kyle, can''t wait until the next instalment
"panicking about the date code on their points ignition" has me laughing so hard my wife is giving me the stink eye.
Tom and anonymous, you are both true gentleman.
I was trying to remember where those 50’s Cadillac fins had been used before on a custom truck. And then it struck me. The Cheech & Chong ‘Weed Wagon’!
Will definitely be a one-off original factory looking unit when done..GM, Grand Master
I am glad you're back to saying 'chicken truck' multiple times per episode again.
Can't wait to see how you make the hood nose. Always amazed by your abilities! Thanks Tom and anonymous!
Nothing better than spray foam!!
We enjoy how you start with cleaning/straightening the workpiece . :)
I like what you're doing Kyle. The front end is going to look pretty good. A lot of work ahead of you, but you'll masterfully sculpt out a hood that'll fit just fine. Looks like winter has definitely arrived in your neck of the woods, big time!
Thanks Ken. Let me know if you need any snow, I'd be happy to send some your way haha
@@CarterAutoRestyling Overnight me about 2 feet. Nothing but a few flurries here in Northwest Ohio. Stay warm!
Looking awesome Kyle, good to see you back on the chicken truck. Love the grill. God bless and thanks Tom snd the other party for the donations.
That's really neat that Tom sent you stuff like that.
Thanks Tom for donating the taillights to this Picasso of pickups
That is the grille for that truck 👍 that is quite the vision you have, I must say it’s good luck you found the Caddy, it just wouldn’t have been as good somehow. I’m sure you would have made it work, but this is already so good👌can’t wait to see more.
And keep up with the Saskatchewan sarcasm 😂
Thank You Tom for sharing KOOL old Cad parts w/ Kyle and all of us watchers!
Really enjoy your vision for the CadaMad chicken truck Kyle! Looking Great! 😻👍
I love where the truck project is going. It will look epic. The 90s was the absolute worst decade of my life. Let us not revisit that. Thanks for the entertainment. Cheers!
I'll try to keep the '90s to a minimum in future episides haha
Where to start... firstly it's easy for you to criticize the people who bent and broke the top of that grill after saying how easy the screws came out, oh person with a screw driver, they were trying to remove it with a rock and a stick...lol.. how is it that your rough out looks better than my finish work, I love the bull nose look you're going for on the front of that truck, way more work than I would be willing to put in... and lastly thanks everyone for helping Kyle out with donations and parts to keep his builds going 👍.
Chicken truck, chicken puppet.....lots of chicken on Turkey Day! Custom Cadillac Chicken Truck lookin' awesome. Big thanks to Tom and the other guy for the generous donations! Thanksgiving Day indeed. Cheers! 😎👍🛻🏁🏁🦃🐔
This is old-school hot rodding at its best. Good job.
Cute little thing! i love that! I love your work! i love this channel! Thank you Sir!!
Thanks for the Thanksgiving show. Really like the truck build.
Thanks Jeff!
Good job Kyle, Tom, and the man with no name!🤠👍
Flows very nicely
Your "90s traditional street rod" pitch was great. Can I buy some pot from you? 😂
A spokeschicken? Brilliant!
