@@Dan_Kanerva that's the point though. thanos may think himself a hero, but we, as the viewers, don't see it that way. the music is there to inform us of how we should feel about the scene we are viewing. that is why the "heroic" theme just doesn't sound right. we, as viewers, don't see thanos as a hero in this moment. the heroic theme for this scene contradicts how we feel as viewers about thanos. essentially the music is trying to inform us of a hero that "doesn't exist"
I always cry so hard with the first one. It's the last marvel movie i watched with my Mom before she passed away, and hearing the song just reminds me of the last time we were in the cinema together. What a wonderful piece of music!
The tone of the original being described as "bittersweet" fits. It represents how Thanos likely feels at the time. He's finally done it. He's saved the universe, and it will thrive. But what did it cost? Everything.
The first one defines thanos as a dark villain. The second one defines him looking at a beautiful world and tells that he is a compassionate ruler in a distant country. The third one describes him as a new hero of the universe. The fourth one describes him as a person who has sacrificed everything to save the world. The music really defines the tone!! And guys it's just my thoughts on the music. You guys may have different opinions.
What’s fascinating to me is how how the fourth one is indisputably somber, while the original track does a clever balancing act between sounding sad and graceful - essentially letting the audience choose whether they want to see Thanos as a dark villain like you said, or as a man who did dark deeds for the greater good. Gotta give Alan Silvestri props for pulling that off (There’s my “Why Porch is a Musical Masterpiece”) 😂
@@artloverivy I thought about that a lot when i heard Porch. I think its the 2 sorta melodies at the end of the song that give it that feeling. Kinda hard to describe them but the first one has 3 notes decending, sounding kinda sad, like a sacrifice (zamora) while the next melody is a bit uplifting as it ascends a few times before landing on a base note, giving off the feeling of hope. I feel like you can interpret this as either the avengers' sacrifice and hope they can fix things or thanos' own sacrifice, where the "hope" is more like a bittersweet completion (since gamora is gone but the universe was saved). It would be pretty cool for you to make an actual "why porch is a masterpiece" video since its pretty short. Fun fact: Porch plays again when Thor kills Thanos in endgame.
I think the first track has some sadness in thanos in the start like it shows that he actually did care about people and wasnt a murderous villan then in the track near the end it sounded kinda like a happy ending, it is because it was a happy ending for thanos cuz he achieved what he wanted to do and considered himself as the hero. So i dont think the track really made him look like a dark villan but his view point of some grief but his consideration of himself as a hero (This is just my view point, i have nothing against your opinion).
The first one is a masterpiece. You got a little dark theme in the start to show that what he did was terrible and he actually pulled it of. Then it evolves to be more emotional like he lost someone(Gamora) and the thought that he sacrificed so much. and then in the end it shows he’s confident about what he did. Edit: I know this is an old comment But i have never gotten this many likes🥺

It's amazing, when I look at Thanos' grimace at the end with the 'heroic' theme above it, it looks like an actual smile. With the 'somber' music, more like the face you might make when you're about to start crying. During the original theme, it perfectly and masterfully holds a middle between the two.
That ending is just a masterpiece. When I saw it on the cinema, the whole audience was i shock and the music just confused the moment more. This wasn't just the ordinary superhero movie where the heroes saves the universe. Well the point of the exercise is to take the scene on it’s own without context. So basically just try to imagine that you have no clue who this guy is or why he’s sitting down to look at the sunset, and then see how each song creates a different story in your head about what’s happening on screen.
@@douglasthompson1724 I whole heartedly agree. Even Back To The Future Part III is some of his best work, and has pieces that are way more intricate. Music, above all other creative elements, drives a film. It creates a difference between romance and horror, with just a change in range, instrumentation, and frequency of the pitches. In this particular clip, though, I really love what they did with the original score. Silvestri wrote for a chamber string ensemble, I think quartet but it can be a bit hard to hear. This scene -- and subsequently this scoring -- follows directly after the snap, which I find so clever. Not only are the in-movie characters cut in half in number, but the size of the orchestra performing the score was reduced as well. So smart, telling the events within the music without us even knowing, took me years to actively notice.
i find it SO fascinating how this seemingly simple thing, music, can create SUCH a POWERFUL atmosphere. amazing. oh and the third one, that's definitely the kind that was playing in Thanos's head right then and there.
Music is sound and sound is how we can understand emotion so putting forth such emotion into music perfectly is what can elevate something as simple as a purple alien going to sit on his porch. The music shows he is at peace but the different styles shows his peace in different ways it’s genius. Pure. Genius.
The first one (original) I only watched Thanos' as he walked The second one I noticed all the colors and specifically the animals in front of him The third one I noticed the sun and sky And the last one was just a feeling, I felt differently about Thanos and his surroundings
For myself I found track 1: bittersweet to be the most adequate for the scene. All other melodies felt too ‘fast’ or joyful. But I did wonder if that feeling was influenced by the nature of the scene and more specifically, the character. Whatever the case this was a most interesting experience. Thank you for sharing it! I’ll go take a peek at your other content.
The bittersweet quality of the original shows that he’s sad about the sadness and loss he caused in the process, especially the death of his daughter, but overall he knows he did good and he can finally be in peace.
the original one gives you a sense of loss but at the same time of victory, it's a bitter sweet ending the others one just give the feeling of Thanos resting on vacations or something
Wow! The music creates striking differences in the mood. It even highlights and obscures details in the visuals - I swear his facial expression is different each time, because the music makes me reinterpret or ignore small muscle movements. Makes me wonder how often I misinterpret others’ facial expressions IRL based on my own mood at the time.
This channel is super underrated. I always thought the tobey Maguire Spiderman theme represented him having to rise to the occasion and accept the sacrifices that came with being Spider-man
The amazing thing about this concept is that even though the video is the same, it gives the illusion that the facial expressions are different. For the heroic one, it seems as if he was smiling and content. In the somber one, the smile almost looks like he is fighting back tears.
So glad this came across my recommended. Watched all the videos so far and wow, you just perfectly encapsulated every thought I’ve had about these pieces, and even ones I didn’t know I had
I love when people pay attention and appreciate the musical scores for movies, it's one of the main things that make the movie alive with sort of a spirit and a tone of it's own. Also I love your music analysis videos! Hope you make more in the future
Oh boy, hold on. Could you breakdown the Black Suit Spider-Man theme? That would be so awesome! I won't make the video myself because I missed the part where that's my problem
Nice 😂 and yeah I got quite a few requests for the black suit theme so Ill eventually get around to it. Just keep in mind it’ll take some time as I have lots of request and videos I want to make in the meantime.
The way they gave Thanos as much if not more depth than any other character in the MCU over the course of one movie still astounds me. Endgame Thanos was literally just one aspect of his personality.
I am a huge fan of Nine to Survival Job…but I feel its a small amount of us on this planet that actually know what music does for movies and how it impacts
I can't help but get a "The Shire" feeling from the second song, it isn't necessarily romantic, but genuine and happy, and combined with the visuals it kind of gives me the same vibes. I'd compare it to the ending of The Return of the King when Sam comes home and is greeted by his children in terms of feel. When watching this with the second song, I kind of expect a child to come and great their loving father or something. Cool stuff.
Realmente, a musica define o tom. A primeira, a ''porch'' é muito bela. São umas das melhores trilhas do UCM, junto daquela do Odin no seu leito em Thor: Ragnarok, segundos antes de introduzirem a Hela
The thing about the original, is that encapsulates the twisted mind that is thanos. Thanos killed his daughter, killed tons in all the wake of being the "savior of earth" and the score really tells us that when through most of the chords played are scarce, methodical in tempo, gentle, but also minor, because that is the sadness upon his face, but then the ending chord is a major chord, and he smiles, really showing us just how twisted he is, because he couldn't be happier that he succeeded in his mission
Please put out more content like this!! Your talent in music and it’s effects is unbelievable and so fascinating to watch. Please keep blowing our minds!!
Interesting stuff! They all fit surprisingly nice with the scene without context. But I think the original track works best for sure, because I feel like it pose a question to the audience, is this really a sad moment just becuz u r an Avengers fan? or is this the peaceful moment (which in a war basically means a win)? I'm so happy they went with the direction that puts thanos in the spotlight for the film, makes the movie so much more interesting than a cg fest.
"Porch" --> How we see Thanos, an insane villain that succeeded on his genocide. "All that Love's about" --> How Thanos sees himself, a ruler that succeeded on his mission. "Nine to survival job" --> How Thanos thinks the Universe is after succeding, a grateful universe. "Didn't mean to crush you" --> How it truly is, a mix of sadness for his actions but at the same time there is a tone of "he did it because he thought it was the right thing to do" kind of situation.
Dude I just found your channel and I absolutely love it. This is the first time I have been able to find someone who understands how important and strong soundtracks are in movies, especially the way they have been created. For example: your Hans Zimmer Electro's theme video, that was an awesome break down you did and I am so glad someone is able to go in depth and show a general audience super unique and subtle things people may not connect/hear when watching movies and thinking about the soundtrack with. Awesome channel. I love it!
The romantic one is just hilarious. Makes Thanos feel like Shrek- a misunderstood creature living a solitary but fulfilling life on his quaint patch of land.
I like how when the tone of the music changes my mind just pay attention to the smaller detail to add on to the mood. Example: when the music is somber my mind pays more attention to the way thanos walks how he stumbles on a few steps with the sunset highlighting the moment while he looks solemnly unlike the bittersweet music where my mind looks at his expressions and thinks that he did something that had massive consequences that can’t be reversed with the highlight being the final moments of the music contrasting with his expression and the sunset
First clip Thanos remembered Sad memories 2nd clip Thanos living his day enjoying the weather 3rd clip He succeeded what he wanted to do 4th clip Thanos finally back to his home

@@artloverivy like a sense of achievement 😂😂
i will never forget the time i listened to the first one. it invokes deep feelings of sorrow but still remaining to be beautiful piece
Don’t ever give up on this work you may not be famous and may not be as big as the others but never quit you really shine light on the beauty of films
Lmao imagine going into infinity War, seeing all your heroes die and then hear 2:10 🤣🤣
That would be pretty funny 😂
My man is watching the sun rise on a grateful universe
We stan a genocidal maniac who appreciates a good view 👏🏼
The Heroic one had me laughing. It's probably exactly what he heard in his mind at that stage
the original one gives you a sense of loss but at the same time of victory, it's a bitter sweet ending
the others one just give the feeling of Thanos resting on vacations or something
oh my god the original is such a banger it still blows my mind 4 years later
I like that some of the other songs were by composers that worked on other MCU movies , also interesting vid btw keep it up 👍
Oh yeah you’re right. I forgot Henry Jackman did Winter Soldier 🤔
@@artloverivy and civil war and FATWS.
I can’t unhear Jurassic World, so “heroic” just sounds like he became a T-Rex farmer. 😂
The last one is damn suitable for this scene as it encapsulates the entire journey of Infinity War Thanos
The 1st one stays with you. You share his relief. Look through his eyes. And smile, just a little bit.
Infinity War truly was amazing, the best experience I’ve ever had in a theater. Better than Endgame imo, had goosebumps throughout the whole movie
Hearing all these different themes makes me realise the amount of work that goes into composing the original music for these scenes..
1:05 when your crush accepts you
I always thought the tobey Maguire Spiderman theme represented him having to rise to the occasion and accept the sacrifices that came with being Spider-man
I love that Track 3 is from the end of Jurassic World and yet works so well with this scene.
The amazing thing about this concept is that even though the video is the same, it gives the illusion that the facial expressions are different. For the heroic one, it seems as if he was smiling and content. In the somber one, the smile almost looks like he is fighting back tears.
Given how Thanos was portrayed in IW, the heroic tune works quite well with that scene
So glad this came across my recommended. Watched all the videos so far and wow, you just perfectly encapsulated every thought I’ve had about these pieces, and even ones I didn’t know I had
Thanks for watching my vids! ✨
I'm pretty sure he happily smiles at the 2nd one and he has a heroic saving smile at the 3rd one
I love when people pay attention and appreciate the musical scores for movies, it's one of the main things that make the movie alive with sort of a spirit and a tone of it's own. Also I love your music analysis videos! Hope you make more in the future
That No.2 Romantic Track makes Thanos look like he just came back from the best date of his life
2:15 An accurate triumphant sound probably in Thanos' head after killing trillions of people
A appreciate the love that you give to soundtracks. They really stick with me more so than songs made for films.
Your analysis of music is just awesome
What a nice man sitting and looking at the sun set. I'm willing to bet he's done nothing horrible and is proud of his farm
I hope he doesn’t get jumped by a gang of bullies with nothing better to do 😞
Great selection of tracks, all could feasibly fit in with the scene but they all change the meaning of the scene.
when ever I listen to Porch it always gives me a sense of relief
Oh boy, hold on. Could you breakdown the Black Suit Spider-Man theme? That would be so awesome!
I won't make the video myself because I missed the part where that's my problem
Nice 😂 and yeah I got quite a few requests for the black suit theme so Ill eventually get around to it. Just keep in mind it’ll take some time as I have lots of request and videos I want to make in the meantime.
@@artloverivy Oh awesome! No pressure and good luck :)
@@finntasticproductions I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye for stealing my line.
@@Black_Screen_Edits_ lmao look at maguire jr.
gonna cry?
The way they gave Thanos as much if not more depth than any other character in the MCU over the course of one movie still astounds me. Endgame Thanos was literally just one aspect of his personality.
I am a huge fan of Nine to Survival Job…but I feel its a small amount of us on this planet that actually know what music does for movies and how it impacts
People says he was a villain. But i have never seen a villain like him before. He was a hero in his side
Cool stuff.
Lmao the Jurassic World Ending Theme being for Thanos is gold, he himself is as threatening as the Trex in the movie.
1:41 I'm sure that is how Thanos must have felt after doing what he did..
.
The avengers disagreed.. 😁
Who knew the Jurassic World soundtrack would fit this scene so well?
Realmente, a musica define o tom. A primeira, a ''porch'' é muito bela. São umas das melhores trilhas do UCM, junto daquela do Odin no seu leito em Thor: Ragnarok, segundos antes de introduzirem a Hela
This is one of my favourite scenes in the MCU, idk why but it was such a perfect ending to Infinity War, especially with that score.
Yeah when it cuts to black and you realize the movie just ended… oof you can feel your heart stop 😂
@@artloverivy exactly! so unexpected, just perfect
Second theme: Wall-E
Third theme: Jurassic Park
Fourth theme: Monsters vs Aliens
I remember I was sitting in the theater, opening night, with me and the entire crowd murmuring “No way. That’s not it no way.”
Agreed, it’s a fantastic track, and the ultimate test of whether or not you ended up siding with Thanos by the end of the film.
1) a tragic hero, a reluctant villain
2) PS2 game cut scene
3) inspiring insurance commercial
4) sentimental insurance commcercial
"Porch" --> How we see Thanos, an insane villain that succeeded on his genocide.
"All that Love's about" --> How Thanos sees himself, a ruler that succeeded on his mission.
"Nine to survival job" --> How Thanos thinks the Universe is after succeding, a grateful universe.
"Didn't mean to crush you" --> How it truly is, a mix of sadness for his actions but at the same time there is a tone of "he did it because he thought it was the right thing to do" kind of situation.
good explanation bro👏
1. sad 2. peaceful but kinda sad 3. happy , reached his goal but not done yet 4. peaceful and happy
It’s crazy how even tho you didn’t edit it each time it seems like he had a different facial expression 😅
I love it!
I thought when the Jurassic world music played, you would have thanos roar like the trex
The romantic one is just hilarious. Makes Thanos feel like Shrek- a misunderstood creature living a solitary but fulfilling life on his quaint patch of land.
1:45, wait, is that really Jurassic World's ending theme?
Just without the dinosaur Roar at the end
The heroic one is probably what Thanos was listening to on his head
0:53 If the movie was all about Thanos (The Good Ending)
I like how when the tone of the music changes my mind just pay attention to the smaller detail to add on to the mood. Example: when the music is somber my mind pays more attention to the way thanos walks how he stumbles on a few steps with the sunset highlighting the moment while he looks solemnly unlike the bittersweet music where my mind looks at his expressions and thinks that he did something that had massive consequences that can’t be reversed with the highlight being the final moments of the music contrasting with his expression and the sunset
Absolutely love this!
Thank you 😊
