Liverpool FC - Anfield Rap (Full version)

- Опубликовано: 13 мар 2007
- The (in?)famous song recorded by the 1988 FA Cup finalists Liverpool. The song was Craig Johnston's idea, not John Barnes' as many might think. At this time there were only two scousers in the first team(John Aldridge and Steve McMahon), and the theme of the song evolves around their teammates strange accents(Non-Liverpudlians understandibly finds this hard to belive).
This song made it to #3 on the charts in England.
Lyrics:
Liverpool FC is hard as hell
United, Tottenham, Arsenal
Watch my lips, and I will spell
'Cause they don't just play, but they can rap as well
Liverpool FC
Liverpool FC
My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility...
Aahaah...aah...aah (Liverpool FC)
...had Napoleon had that idea he'd have conquered the bloody world
Walk on... walk on... with hope... in your heart... and you'll ne... ver walk...alone
Alright Aldo
Sound as a pound
I'm custy la but there's nothing down
The rest of the lads ain't got it sussed
We'll have to learn 'em to talk like us
Well I'm rapping now, I'm rapping for fun
I'm your goalie, the number one
You can take the mick, don't call me a clown
Any more lip and you're going down
Alright Ace, we're great me and you
But the other lads don't talk like we do
No they don't talk like we do, do they do la
We'll have to learn 'em to talk propa
Walk on... walk on... with hope... in your heart... and you'll ne... ver walk... alone
You two scousers are always yapping
I'm gonna show you some serious rappin
I come from Jamaica, my name is John Barn-es
When I do my thing the crowd go bananas
How's he doing the Jamaica rap?
He's from just south of the Watford Gap
He gives us stick about the north/south divide
'Cause they got the jobs
Yeah, but we got the side
Well I came to England looking for fame
So come on Kenny man, give us a game
'Cause I'm sat on the bench paying my dues with the blues
I'm very big down under, but my wife disagrees
They've won the league, bigger stars than Dallas
They got more silver than Buckingham Palace
No-one knows quite what to expect
When the red machine's in full effect
Well Steve McMahon sure can rap
It's about time he had an England cap
So come on Bobby Robson, he's the man
'Cause if anyone can, Macca can
Macca-can... Macca-can... Macca-can... Macca-can...
Liverpool FC is hard as hell
My idea was to build Liverpool up and up and up until eventually they would be untouchable. Everybody would have to submit. Give in, give in, give in
We're highland lads
Och-ai the noo
And there's four of us
And only two of you
So if you want nai trouble
And you don't want a slap
You'd better teach us the Anfield rap
Don't forget us paddies
And me the Great Dane
And I'm from London mate so watch your game
Well you two scousers, you're always squaking
But we'll just let our feet do the talking
Our lads have come from all over the place
They talk dead funny, but they play dead great
Well now we've gotta learn 'em talk real cool
The song you've gotta learn if you live in the Pool
Walk on... walk on... with hope... in your heart... and you'll ne... ver walk... alone
You'll never walk alone
Ho-ho my word
That's unbelievable, it really is
I think they should stick to playing football. Terrible

Liverpool invented Hip Hop.
You sure you don't mean they ruined it all?!
@@TIGERDO100 Ruined? This is the most 80s hip hop going haha.

Back in the day when if you had a player from Scotland it was considered being diverse
Back to TOday when sitting on an English bench gets you a Scotland cap, sad truth!
That's how it was in the pre globalised world. Only Irish, Welsh and Scottish players used to play in the English leagues.
LFC were the first to field a team that consisted entirely of non English nationals.
@@neiluk1470 Aston Villa were actually, back in October 1999. 2 months later Chelsea fielded the first XI with no British players, then in 2005 Arsenal named the first entirely foreign match day squad.
@@BlastbeatsLOL Neil UK is right. 1986 FA cup final team. Grobbellaar (Zimbabwe), Nicol (Scottish), Beglin (Irish), Hansen (Scottish), Lawrenson (Irish, though born in England), McDonald (Scottish), Molby (Danish), Johnston (Australian), Whelan (Irish), Rush (Welsh), Dalglish (Scottish).
Who’s still listening in 2020 ? Up the reds !!!
Since I can't go out and celebrate the league win I'm listening to this on repeat until Corona finishes!
An Arsenal fan. Loving this. So fecking nostalgic. So bad it is amazing.

We need a klopp and 2019 version of this.
Imagine if the current Liverpool team did it last season and ended up not winning the league, that wouldve been amazing

@@lewispetherick6753 yep but they released this after they won the league to be sure lol
Just imagine...🤤
I’m a Man Utd fan but as a kid I knew all the words to this. The best FA cup song ever written. The good old days when the FA cup was a epic event.
I’m a Spurs fan and I’ve always secretly loved it too 😂

It just occurred to me - this looks so much like the opening credits to Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Sridhar Sarnobat ikr and sounds a bit
Um yeah, that was done purposely. Do you think using LL's "Rock The Bells" was coincidental too?
@@done1675this came out 2 years before Fresh Prince
Grobellars bars on this are sick. It's be great if teams still did this. Strurridge spitting bars like a roadman n Coutinho backing him up.
messthetics no
They'll both be gone in January lol
But yeah I'd love to see Mignolet drop a diss track on David De Gea
why like a roadman? 🤔
move me to tear's everytime i hear this. me and my wife had our first dance to this at our wedding 15 years ago now. dance dance dance rap rap rap
Rail Cables I would genuinely love to do this on my wedding!
Rail Cables How corny lol.
Respect from a Liverpool fan!
John Barnes spittin' some bars
"They've won the league.... they've got more silver than buckingham palace" the good times are coming back!
And so they did 🙌🏻
100%
Dream on
Im not a Liverpool fan, but this is by far and away the best footy song/video ever!
'My names John Barn-es, when I do my thing the crowd goes bananas'- Brilliant
My respect and MANY Christmas wishes to you friend... as a Liverpool fan myself, it is something o receive such respect from other supporters! Hope all is well for you and yours... Cheers
"I'm very big down under, but my wife disagrees" LMAO best line of the song.
I'm surprised that Mary Whitehouse didn't complain about it at the time.
Anyone think the 2019 champions league winner squad should do a remake
"I come from Jamaica...". "he's just south of the watford gap!" hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The crowd goes bananas!
I love this so much! Some fantastic memories.
As a "child of today" I sometimes wonder how stuff like this ever existed.
Just imagine all the feminists going crazy for "I'm big Down Under but my wife disagrees" or middle class SJWs taking offence to John Barnes saying "bananas" because he's black lol. Back when the world was tolerable
@@southgooner86 It is literally a reference to the crowds throwing the fruit at him as he was playing.
You just won't ever understand it without experiencing that cultural background of that time. But believe you me, mate, it was amazing!
You just had to have been there ...all I can say.
Same feeling us elders feel about Stormzy
i must of played this 200 times and more on my mum and dads record player..sat there with my liverpool kit on..i even had the liverpool trainers!!..i loved this liverpool team.y'know watching this after all these years makes me realise what amazing team spirit and comradery they had.it reminds me of the spanish team or barcelona in many ways..i also remember crying when wimbeldon beat us in the final..when the f.a cup really was special.great days and hopefully many more ahead for the redmen )
Shared this 10 years ago on Facebook according to memories on Facebook. Don't recognize this at all 😂 I must have been mad drunk.
Apart from "World In Motion", best football song ever. John Barnes - Bananas. Excellent
Best....team......song......EVER!!!!!!!
Quality, Captures the spirit of those days. Now everything has just become saturated and dull what with globalization.
Exacly..
Agree
best rap song I've ever heard and I don't even support Liverpool, like if you're watching in 2015
Tavis Cole I'm a Liverpool fan and people on forums I post in hate it!
2016
I love Steve McMahons voice! It's so massive! And it's almost impossible to see the difference between Ian Rush and Aldo when he's wearing caps and sunglasses!
i didnt knew i could love liverpool more until now
this is class. i have heard klopp likes his rock music, maybe he should record a tune with the scorpions when liverpool get to another final
Transports me straight back to my youth in the summer, playing footy in the street with all the lads...council estate memories 💔💯
Undoubtedly the best rap song ever made. Classic!👌
That was the good old days where if teams got into a final they would bring a song out.. {>¿
Lol! Franny! 4 years ago!
Remember this like it was only last year loved it 😂❤
I'm not given to hyperbole, but this is the greatest thing that has ever happened. Not just musically, but anything. Ever.
Swine Art it’s not
Need a new one with some Hip Klopp.
A timeless classic. Still as fresh and contemporary sounding as the day it was first released. Stick this in the charts and I'm sure it would reach number 1 - probably stay there for about 5 years too.
I still remember this. Loved Diggers rap and Bruce whispered LFC was brilliant. Scouse lads Aldo and Steve McMahon priceless. Even King Kenny made an appearance. Best part for me was Shanks in the background 😊
As a scouser and a Liverpool fan, I think this bloody brilliant. Y.N.W.A 96
one of the best football anthems ever
WE NEED A 2014 VERSION PLEASE
Jesse James yes we do, with Sturridge
Flanagan & gerrard can be the scousers
Dec Murphy Lambert as well now :)

Gosh this video has been up a long time
Thing is, whoever you support, you’ve got to respect that this was a great moment to look back on. I remember when it came out well. Everyone was singing it.
Top flight footballers, making fun of themselves. They were real characters and personalities. Down to earth guys.
You’d never get that now.
Liverpool FC 4eva, we so need a new updated version of Liverpool rap, it's brilliant
THIS IS AWESOME!!!
Craig Johnston wrote this I think
Still the best Liverpool team I've ever seen in my lifetime remember taping this of the radio Merseyside about ten times great days
"They don't talk like we do do de doh la!" Hahahaha! Love this song
Loved this wen it was out. Was in West Berlin at the time. Used 2 sing it all the time especially 2 my Evertonian m8s 😂
i'm a leeds fan but total respect.liverpool were awsome that season
Love it ❤
Me too👍😸
Best old rap video on youtube...makes me smile every time i watch it! Now watch out for the modern day one when the King brings all the British superstars to the team!
Liverpool for life!!! I'll always show my love for the team. No matter what position they in. Even of they were facing relegation (of course thats not going to happen in my lifetime), I'd still shw my support.
A combination of 80s cheese and 90s hip hop. I love it.
Yup...spells the late 80s early 90s perfectly
Still watching it.. n loving it! :D
Not even a Liverpool fan but I've always loved this. Should have been No. 1 for about 10 weeks! 😂
This needs an update! They've finally won the prem!!!
This song directly inspired the creation of the band Goldie Looking Chain
Your mother’s got a Souness
Not sure this would work now - Are there any Liverpudlians even in the Liverpool team anymore ?Classic song , classic players, no ego in this team
Love it and it was a good day
Brilliant, when the RedMen were ace. Utd didn't exist back then 👊
actually they were also one of the biggest clubs at the time so they definitely existed
Ha ha, Liverpool won the trophies in the 80s, but they hardly ever got a win against United in those days.
And now it's gone full circle cos they don't exist again, and Liverpool are in their second European final in 2 years. Funny how things go in circles.
@@morgangriffiths7969 no they weren't, this was pre Fergie when United were like Everton are now, always in 6th place down, never challenging for honours, with shite managers like Ron Atkinson there.
Everton, Forest, Villa, Arsenal, Norwich, they were all superior to United then. I can tell you this honestly, but I didn't know a single Man United fan back then, and I lived in Manchester. They were all City fans, or a few Liverpool, but mostly they were Wigan and St Helens. Rugby fans basically. But as soon as United got Cantona, they all jumped on the bandwagon. Plastic fans, even the older guys. People forget United were pretty much irrelevant from the early 70s to the early 90s. They won the odd domestic cup here and there, but it was Liverpool, Leeds, Forest, Villa and Everton dominating the league, and Villa, Forest and Liverpool blowing everyone away in Europe. United didn't get a look in til they won the cup winners cup, and after that they begun their domination.
Funnily enough, they're now going back to the shite, average club they were before Fergie. Full circle. And as soon as Newcastle get taken over, United will fall further behind the top 4-6.
Liverpool, City, Spurs, Wolves, Everton and Newcastle, they'll be the top 6 in a few years time, Arsenal, Chelsea and United will fall right away. Mark my words, come back to this comment in 2025 and see if I'm wrong.

This has got to be the most original football track of all. I bet no other team has done anything like this, ever since 1988

Not a Liverpool fan, but watching this makes me realise what footy was really like back in the day. All these foreign players now have alienated the English premier league.
Teams have come and gone, but these guys are my childhood hero’s.

I wish Liverpool brought out different singles every year that wud b class

The reason it wouldn't work doing a remake is this was done for a laugh whereas today's footballers (not just Liverpool) would take themselves too seriously
