@@lennonjamesbebiano9845 Incorrect. Jordan Dominated because no one and no team could stop him at that point. Magic was 31 years old in '90-91 when Jordan unleashed his will on him and the lakers. 31 is still young. Isiah Thomas gets upset because his nephew is wearing a Michael Jordan jersey. Isiah then motivates his team to create the Jordan Rules. The Jordan Rules resulted in the biggest factor of Michael Jordan having that competitive🔥🔥 So🤔🤔basically Isiah Thomas nephew is responsible for creating the greatest sports figure of all time 😂😂😂
Everyone has their perspective of a certain situation, and this is his perspective and truth. There is truth is what he says, but it goes further than that. IT was from Chicago, it was not just his nephew, it was the fact that he didn't play for the Bulls and was hated in his own town. On top of that the fact that Jordan was actually the face of his own town, made him boil inside.
Jordan had the competitive fire since youth, he would have never been 6 time champ until they got some talent around him, players like Gervin and Reggie Miller would have some rings if teammates were as talented as Bulls, Pistons, Celtics, and Lakers of that era. Early in Jordan's career he could score 40, 50, 60 and still didn't win. You must have a team.
@@7521eric I'm not saying he's not stretching the truth but he did play with both of them and was on the Pistons during the whole Bad Boy Pistons era. So he's a pretty credible source. A lot of John's stories have inconsistencies though. There are other interviews from players & even John Salley himself that contradict his statements. Micheal Jordan is ABSOLUTELY the SOLE REASON Isaiah wasn't on the Dream Team. Scottie Pippen stated Michael didn't want him. Michael was the biggest star in the world alongside Michael Jackson & Oprah in 1992 & the organizers of the Dream Team NEEDED him not Magic Bird or anyone else. Magic was upset & didn't want Isaiah, Michael was ultimately the deciding factor. This is a well known fact.

Jordan never had implied he loved Isiah, Jordan implied he acknowledged and respected Isiah game. So theres no chance it was Jordan call that Isiah didn't make The Dream Team.
S B just because Isaiah and Michael aren’t friends doesn’t mean that Jordan forced Isaiah out of the dream team. From the Last Dance it shows that the dream team situation wasn’t Michael, it was the other players having personal beef with Isaiah and him being on the team would ruin the chemistry of the team
S B your comment is fake news. Just because the GOAT hates Isiah and vice-versa, doesn't mean it was MJ that kept him out of the Dream Team. They hated each other, but also respected each other, for their basketball greatness and competitiveness. Anyway Isiah is Isiah (sometimes not even put in the top 3 or top 5 PGs of all time) and the GOAT is the GOAT (not just the greatest basketball player ever, but the greatest athlete of all time).
I heard, but not sure, there was no one to defend Isiah for joining the Dreamteam, I mean if you use to have beef with everyone, who will say that "oooh ok I want him in my team".....
Zeke was left off because he had beef with Bird, Magic, Scottie, Malone and Jordan didn’t fuck with him. He had beef with a lot of them back in the day and a lot of them besides Jordan had a lot of say so
Isaiah was left off the team because David stern the nba top exc would not let Chuck Daley isaiah's piston coach put him on the team, he did not like isaiah. He stop funding the CBA league isaiah purchased after he retired, CBA went bankrupt. NBA started their (now the G league)
Isaiah Thomas’s reputation was tarnished league wide. His Dream Team exclusion cannot be ascribed to just one individual because he was loathed and consensually. It’s very simple: IT burned a lot of people around the league - it all culminated in his exclusion from the Dream Team.
Those were the years that you can really feel the excitement waiting for the games to start. It was not just a basketball game, it is a battle. Nowadays, you just watch both teams try to outscore each other in the three point area.

Homeowners in Palmer Woods during the 80s and 90s when Salley lived there were minimally high upper middle class to wealthy. The area is still nice but since the housing market crash, many people who previously may not have been able to afford living there purchased homes in that area. I'm glad Spider came out and said this. People didn't know who were friends then, because they all tried to kill each other on the court. They didn't have to be on the same team to be close or friends. That's the bs that ruins today's basketball. I'm glad he publicly took that off MJ, too. Jordan hasn't talked publicly about the Isiah "freeze," because he doesn't care what people think. That's what made him great.
Missed those great defensive teams 80's-90's. This era has waaaaay too many players coming in the paint dunking unchallenged. Sally is right don't give them 2 easy points. Make them earn it at the free throw line. That was pure street ball and it built the modern NBA.

Jordan still hates Barkley, so what? That can be taken out of context, because that comment was made referencing his younger mentality decades ago. It was his biggest rivalry before becoming a champion.
Basically, when Michael bought in to the triangle offense, the Bulls were a better team than Detroit or any other team ever could be. In the era of the "Bad Boys" I agree 100% when Laimbeer said "Chicago has the best player, but we have the best team." But that all changed when Tex Winter helped put in that system.
The Bulls didn't become great until Jordan got help. So it took a bit, but once Pippen was all-nba level and horace grant was an all-star, did jordan get a finals. That was his 7th season in the league
@@morecowbell235 Horace Grant’s only all-star appearance was during the 1993-94 season. Pippen began to flourish but what helped MJ become a champion was trusting his teammates. John Paxson hit a lot clutch shots against the Lakers in the ‘91 Finals.

There's a part that Salley is also missing is that Isiah beat UNC for the NCAA title the year before Jordan got to UNC. Also, Indiana and Duke, especially back then, were like brother programs with Bob Knight and Coach K vs UNC and their brother program Kansas. So there was already a natural rivalry between Jordan and Isiah.
@@davidsyked9420 Isiah won the year before against UNC minus Jordan. And please stop believing that Jordan won that championship, James Worthy won it if anyone did. He was the MVP. Espn got everyone believing it was “Jordan” based off a wide open jump shot with 12-13 seconds still left.

@Tom Ross TV Isiah didn't make the team cause nobody liked him. He simply pissed off too many people. Having him there would cause problems. So he's out and Stockton was in.
What he left out was because of the way Doug Collins was coaching the team. They had to make the switch to Phil because Tex Winter was the orchestrator of the Triangle offense...Because he understood how to get the other player's involved instead of standing around watching one man try to beat an entire team. So Tex told Doug there's another way to play this game but Doug being a Super Fan of MJ didn't wanna hear it because he was to emotional. So they fired Doug plug in Phil and Tex Winter and they began to play real team basketball where everyone is involved Especially Horace Grant and John Paxson. Scottie started to develop as a #2 and that made them lethal, But keep in mind all they gave MJ was one ALL-STAR and he destroyed the NBA. Today that guy in LA who calls himself the Greatest player of All-time need multiple established HOF/Perennial All-star player's to win and in this soft ass version of the NBA can't even 3PEAT...
I think it's interesting that Sal said Mike is more of an introvert. I think most ppl would probably never think that, because of the superstar status, commercials and what have u..things of marketable reasons. Outside of interviews mj never really has been much of a talker.
I was around in that era, and I'll tell you that doesn't surprise me. When Jordan would be interviewed it was at group settings you'd see on the news but he NEVER had one on one interviews unless it was for a book. And good luck ever getting him to say anything other than platitudes until very late in his run. He was very image conscious in those days. And the media was complicit in keeping his dark side hidden until he retired.
@@MrT571I don't know why people couldn't see that he was an introvert.. They show their true selves around a few people..ijs. He was never my cup tea, respect his game though
If my own coach don't vouch or advocate for me to be with this Dream Team then Isiah's issue should've been towards Chuck Daly. Coach Knight had Steve Alford on the team back in 84 when he cut Charles Barkley, Karl Malone and John Stockton when everyone knew Steve shouldn't been on that roster but that was his guy.
"Scottie learned everything from Michael"-Phil Jackson. Scottie developed into the player he was because Michael took him under his wing. Scottie even dressed & wore the same earring as Mike.
Because Magic and Bird were past their primes and Magic didnt want a better PG on the team. Look at the stats of the dream team that year Stockton barely played over 10 min a game that summer
To be fair, Stockton got hurt during that summer, actually in the Tournament of the Americas, I believe, that lead up to the 96 Olympics. There was even a possibility that he could have been replaced, but healed up enough to where he could play a bit.
@@DeepfriedBaby Sorry, but Christian Laettner absolutely deserved it more than Shaq or any other collegiate player that year. Obviously they didn't need a college player to win the gold, but they were clearly rewarding the guy that had just completed one of the all-time greatest careers in NCAA history. Nobody was arguing that Laettner was going to be a better player in the NBA, but the fact was that he had just graduated, finishing a 4-year career (Shaq was a year behind him) while going out as the winner of all 6 major national player of the year awards, a back-to-back NCAA Champion, all-time leader for most career points in the NCAA tournament, and the only player in NCAA history to start in 4 CONSECUTIVE FINAL FOURS. Salley could be telling the truth. Because if you watch the Dream Team Documentary. Magic and Bird were the captains of that team... not Michael Jordan. And others have been on record saying they didn't want Isiah on the team. But Jordan is the biggest name, so that's where the public's propaganda-influenced brains gravitate towards. Even Scottie Pippen said he didn't know if Jordan wanted Isiah on the team or not. Scottie didn't though. But Jordan is a very private person. He didn't even talk to Pippen about it.
Over the years there were a lot of interview with dream team players (not the main stars) and most of them said US national team is about comradery and players chemistry. Well, Isiah wasn't friendly with most of them like all the players. And it will take only one star to say : If Isiah plays I'm out, because nobody in the team will say I wound like to play with Isiah and I stand with him. And the question all these years is who was it ? Jordan, Magic, Bird or all of them.
That was crazzzzzzzy picking Christian Laetener over Shaq for the 92 Olympics. I was only 13 years old when that decision was made and I found it Ludacris and at 40 years old I Find it Ludacris.
After watching The Last Dance its hard to take much of this interview seriously....I am a Cleveland Cavaliers fans and I know the Pistons and the Celtics were dirty teams, the players will bend and break the rules to their advantage. There is no doubt the Pistons and Celtics both had some great talent but they resorted to dirty play to win and the NBA allowed it to happen because it was good for ratings, Magic called the Cavs the team of the decade in the 80's but without an enforcer or dirty play they could never achieve this. Once the NBA saw that Jordan was the money machine things changed.
Pistons and Celtics were dirty? lol What are you, like 10 yrs old? Hilarious. I felt bad for the Cavaliers too. It was just a bummer that your best teams couldn't beat those teams, and then would proceed to choke against the Bulls when the Bulls sucked. I can understand your frustration. It's true. Inside closed doors, Magic was probably the main reason why Isiah wasn't in the Dream Team. They used to be super close when they were younger, but somewhere along the line they starting beefing with one another and it became really ugly. maybe some particular members of the badboys bcoz if MJ really hate all of them , He wouldnt allow Rodman to be in Bulls or exchanging tickets with salley.
Once again, when Sall is referring to players as "A.D." (Adrain Dantley) "Joe" (Joe Dumars), "Horace" (Horace Grant), he has to know he's talking to us and not to Vlad
This is BS - Scottie for one hated and still hates Zeke. He admitted this much when interviewed by Rapaport on the Players Tribune. Not sure what angle Salley is playing here.
When Sally played for the Bulls he wasn't that great a player!! I believe they traded him too!! If you stay with a team and win multiple championships like a Scottie then you can speak facts but Sally is just not credible.
Didn't want to play with him. But never did anything to try to keep him off the team. Isaiah wasn't liked by a lot of players in the league. So there was concern about other players not wanting him either. And my opinion, it was part political to have Stockton instead of Isaiah as well. More appeasing to the demographics of the audience. If you get a hold of an old video of the all star game they are talking about, they did want to go at Jordan a little.(The West) And his East team did try to have him take a back seat. You can see when Jordan makes some cuts to get open, how often he wasn't given the ball. You have to realize that during that time, there was a lot of talk about "is he really that good?". Which may be hard to comprehend because everybody looks at Jordan through his body of work. So many veteran players thought that he, at the time, was given too much attention, and too much hype for a first year player. So much so that Jordan got a lot of criticism just for wearing what were then Nike's new pants during his first few attempts at the NBA dunk contest. Jordan wanted to show his appreciation to Nike for the endorsement deal they had given him, along with everything else they were doing with him. So he thought it would be a good idea to show that by debuting the pants in his first attempts at the dunk contest. Other players criticized Jordan as trying to show other players up by trying to look too casual by staying in warm up pants. And you also have to keep in mind that Jordan was the pioneer of the signature shoe line. It's so expected now, but during a time when there were so many long lasting stars who had endorsements, posters made, etc.., Jordan was the only one that had his own shoe
@Angeli Lall no, isiah never said he didn't want to play with or against Magic. What it was is that Magic heard rumors Isiah questioned his sexuality, which Isiah denies..Magic's agent was responsible for the rumors, idk why he did that, but that was the source.
Right, and this is a quote from Magic's book... , "Isiah killed his own chances when it came to the Olympics. Nobody on that team wanted to play with him. ... Michael didn't want to play with him. Scottie [Pippen] wanted no part of him. Bird wasn't pushing for him. Karl Malone didn't want him. Who was saying, 'We need this guy?' Nobody.''
Sally: Jordan loved Isiah, loved everything about him.
Last Dance Jordan: I respect his game but I hate the guy.

You're Probably Right, But The Main Reason Jordan Dominates The 90s NBA Is Because The Celtics Of Bird And Lakers Of Magic Are Aging And Injured.
If You Put Healthy Celtics And Lakers In 90s NBA The Two Mentioned Teams Still Dominates Even In Jordan's Prime.
@@lennonjamesbebiano9845 Incorrect. Jordan Dominated because no one and no team could stop him at that point. Magic was 31 years old in '90-91 when Jordan unleashed his will on him and the lakers. 31 is still young. Its actually prime because of the experience and lessons but that truly depends on the individuals mindset, work ethic and discipline. Isaiah was 29 at the time. Bird was 34 at the time, with a bad back. Probably from attempting to check Jordan the night he dropped 63 points in the garden. Nevertheless, Jordan was winning 3peats at age 33, 34 & 35. Isiah Thomas gets upset because his nephew is wearing a Michael Jordan jersey. Isiah then motivates his team to create the Jordan Rules. The Jordan Rules resulted in the biggest factor of Michael Jordan having that competitive🔥🔥
So🤔🤔basically Isiah Thomas nephew is responsible for creating the greatest sports figure of all time 😂😂😂
Adrian Terrell Absurd right?haha

Isiah is jealous that Jordan play for Chicago !!! From the beginning Isiah want to play for Chicago, that’s where it came from !!!
He had beef with a lot of them back in the day and a lot of them besides Jordan had a lot of say so
Bird didn’t have beef with Isaiah, come on!

@@morecowbell235 Horace Grant’s only all-star appearance was during the 1993-94 season. Pippen began to flourish but what helped MJ become a champion was trusting his teammates. John Paxson hit a lot clutch shots against the Lakers in the ‘91 Finals.

"Scottie was an anomaly. We didn't know what to do with this." :)

So much for “players weren’t friends back in the day” LOL
Puts that bullshit to rest, don't it?
Yer full of 💩 calling the Celtics “dirty”. They didn’t need to play dirty to win. Stupidest thing I’ve seen today! Bwahahahahaaaa!
CLEVELAND!!!!! This is for you!!!!!!!!
Makes you say silly things.
There was something funny about Magic and Isiah's relationship. I remember at the start of games they played against each other, they would kiss
Now both there sons are gay
it's a friendly gesture. Nothing wrong with it. Weird a bit? Yeah but that's about it.
Dey was best friends ... I think dey was getting freaky together actually
Naw it's more than funny.....they used to fuck each other NO CAP
I think so too frfr them niggas gay
The reason basketball was so great then is because they played the job, not let the job play them.
When Salley talks about Isaah and Magic he knows what he is talking about.
@Mr Hansen ha ha. No way! Go Celtics!
The lighting in this interview was perfect.
John Salley is always great to listen to
So this whole facade that 80’s and 90’s ball players hated each other is a lie?
EasyTonganSniper yes. Good marketing. Gets fans riled up and behind their team and increases loyalty and consumer purchases related to franchise merchandising. Some players legitimately didn’t like each other but not like how it was presented in the media. Thanks media, you’re always working to make society better.
I dont think they hung out like today stars but they were cool with each other
Jerome Marshall or maybe because of social media, we actually get to see them hang out together? Unlike the 90’s
@@mmoney9362 The media was not cooking up those beefs back then. If players didn't like each other back then, then that's what it was. Beefs and rivalries are two different things. The media helped created or fueled rivalries, but beef is personal. If it was all acting or marketing, then Isiah would have been on that Dream Team and we wouldn't be still talking about this 20 something years later..
Vlod is little late, Magic and Isaiah had this discussion already when they patched it finally a couple years ago...
Detroit were really UFC fighters holding mj
It's true. Inside closed doors, Magic was probably the main reason why Isiah wasn't in the Dream Team. They used to be super close when they were younger, but somewhere along the line they starting beefing with one another and it became really ugly. If I can recall, IT was saying stuff about Magic HIV etc, and I know Magic was saying stuff about IT too. But the media portray Michael to be the main reason why IT wasn't allowed in the dream team.
Look it up, theres this 1 on 1 sit down interview with Magic & IT on the net, and they finally put the past to rest during that 1 on 1 sit down. Damn when they broke down, that was some powerful and painful stuff, yet heartwarming.
Apparently Isiah didn't even say the HIV stuff, that was hearsay funneled into Magics ear. Really tragic that a lifelong friendship was torn over rumors
Nope . Couldn't be further from the truth. The team was missing one player who deserved to be there. The best pure point guard for a decade: Isiah Thomas
What happened to Salley's ear? Did he fight Mike Tyson?
John Salley's statement about Mike loving the Detroit squad is kind of contradicting to Mike's statement during the last dance docu lol
maybe some particular members of the badboys bcoz if MJ really hate all of them , He wouldnt allow Rodman to be in Bulls or exchanging tickets with salley.
NBA stories are up there with Prince and Rick James stories.
Once again, when Sall is referring to players as "A.D." (Adrain Dantley) "Joe" (Joe Dumars), "Horace" (Horace Grant), he has to know he's talking to us and not to Vlad
You mean "Adrian Dantley" if we are being precise.
@@mca4u he might be talking about Adrian's plumber cousin, Adrain.
Great interview my canarsie paisan
This is BS - Scottie for one hated and still hates Zeke. He admitted this much when interviewed by Rapaport on the Players Tribune. Not sure what angle Salley is playing here.
Truth.
It's confirmed. Michael Jordan didn't like the Pistons and Isaiah then, and he doesn't like them now. What John Salley's talking here, is bullshit 😼
Pharoah 1 the documentary proved they all hated Isiah. You've got blinkers on.
Yeah idk what sally talking about. Magic and Jordan both probably blocked Isaiah from the dream team but mj and Isaiah hated/hate each other.
@@jeffrejr1 , truth👍👍
MJ need to get over it.
When Sally played for the Bulls he wasn't that great a player!! I believe they traded him too!!
If you stay with a team and win multiple championships like a Scottie then you can speak facts but Sally is just not credible.
All then ESPN and Fox and CBS guys don’t know all this. They speak the fancy English with the fancy screen.
Mannnn go watch the Dream Team documentary on ESPN where Pippen and Jordan talk about not wanting to play with Isaiah
he's from Brooklyn not surprising
Facts. Jordan didnt like that nigga
If John Salley had an ice cream truck it would be Mr. Softee.
I believe it too. When they had their face to face on NBA TV people overlooked the fact that it was Magic, not Isaiah who issued an apology.
