Part 14: • John Salley on His Fri...
Part 1: • John Salley on LeBron ...
    --------
In this clip, John Salley shared his thoughts on Charles Barkley not talking to Michael Jordan in 10 years, and Vlad pointed out that Barkley addressed his comments about Jordan being a team owner. John explained that he interviewed Barkley at an event last year, where they addressed the situation, and Barkley admitted that he made a mistake by going at his friend on television. This led to a conversation about other celebrity friends falling out, including Talib Kweli and Kanye West. John then stated that Barkley should’ve had a private conversation with Jordan before giving his personal opinion on live TV. When Vlad spoke about Allen Iverson saying he hated the Pistons because of Jordan’s Bulls rivalry, John revealed that he thinks LeBron grew up with the same feelings due to their interactions over the years. To hear more, including John revealing that he’s still in touch with his “Bad Boys” teammates, hit the above clip.

I'm a huge MJ fan but Chuck did nothing wrong and the only thing I see is MJ got a taste of his own medicine. MJ told Scottie not to go to Houston because Charles lacked work ethic and when he was on the Oprah Winfrey show he said Chuck didn't have what it took to be a winner. But when Charles said MJ was doing a terrible job as the Hornets owner, which was true, it was a problem. Chuck was just doing his job by making an honest assessment.

You are correct on this aspect of the Chuck analysis. But, Chuck spoke about the inner circle of people around jordan which he had access to as a result of being MJ's friend. The private interactions of the inner circle are off bounds because those moments Chuck would have no access to if he was not in MJ's inner circle. Those he took advantage of private conversations and used the information publically for his job. No Bueno!
Behind close doors talk is not meant for his job's public audience.

Charles Barkley is a sports analyst. If someone asks him a question about a team, a player or an organization he is supposed to give his honest opinion. That's his job. That's what I like about Charles he will always give an honest analysist. He was 100% correct on Michael Jordan as an NBA Owner. Michael has sucked as an owner of the Charlotte Hornets. Michael has owned the Hornets for 12 years and they have only been to the playoffs twice and lost. They have been barely over 500 three times in 12 years. They are horrific as a franchise under Jordan. When people asks Charles about Jordan as a player, he always says Jordan was the greatest. That's all Michael wants to hear is praises. Michael needs to wake up. He can not have it both ways. It is nothing he should be angry about because It is true. He sucks as an NBA owner and is no where near the success of the Bulls organization where he won all those championships as a player and I am a Michael Jordan fan.

If Jordan can’t accept honest criticism from Barkley then they weren’t ever really friends anyway. A true friend is supposed to give you tough love when it’s necessary. Barkley wasn’t disrespecting him as a man, he was giving his honest opinion on his performance as a professional. And he was absolutely correct in his assessment. Jordan does everything from an egotistical standpoint and he got his little feelings hurt by hearing the truth and he’s not above criticism. The truth of the matter is that Jordan SUCKS as a GM. He sucked in Washington and he sucks in charlotte. He sucked so bad in Washington that Ab Poland fired him as the President/GM. Go back and look at ALL the draft picks that Jordan selected in his decades as the decision maker for both of those teams. If he wasn’t the owner of the Hornets, he would’ve been fired from there too. John Sally has been saying a lot of dumb sh¡t during the last few interview clips that have come out recently.
As far as Iverson being a fanboy for Jordan, that sh¡t is corny. Jordan and iverson are contemporaries. Iverson’s friends were correct in telling him the truth about being him being fanboy. Give him the respect as a competitor but that’s it. All men meet on the level.

It’s ironic that one’s success on the court doesn’t translate to success as an owner. Same way with Magic trying to coach. They are two different animals. I respect Charles for just being honest.

He was totally right about MJ, though. Dude was hiring all his friends like they knew how to run a team. Charles Oakley doesn't know shit about running a team lol. MJ needs guys. Soon after he stopped just employing friends and they actually made the playoffs a few times. He still needs to hire better execs, but at least they're not his golfing buddies

charlotte has been a shit organisation ever since even though they got the goat as their owner. all trades suck, all drafts suck. Ball is the first guy to be slightly promising and that's it. they paid white boy Gayward like a supermax AFTER that dude's leg broke in two like a twig. MJ is still a degenerate gambler. Look at the successful teams of the past 30 years, those werent gambling owners or gms or coaches. those were people with the ability to analyse, plan and execute.

Because Charles Barkley loves to put out personal business and talk about people just to get attention and Michael Jordan ain't that type of dude. Every time Charles Barkley is on some type of talk show. He's always saying s*** that he knows he's not supposed to say but he says it anyways. That's why a lot of these players don't respect him or don't even like talking to him because he is very two-faced it. He'll say things on his show but don't have the heart to say it when you're on his show but not to their face.

But in Chucks defense. Jordan was a pretty trash exec and owner for the majority of the 2000s.
Perhaps Charles could have not spoken about it so much. But that is the trap of the media cycle. Points are repeated over and over, day by day.
