For those of you looking at the comments looking to prep for your test, you can be as far as 3 WHOLE FEET from the curb!!! That's much further than what people initially think, so don't screw yourself over by starting too close to it and accidentally hitting it when you back up because that's an automatic fail if you do so much as touch the curb.
studying these videos because i’m a visual learner, road test is probably the end of this month. i struggle a lot with turns but hopefully my practice pays off
Really great tips!! I watched this video a few days before my driving test, and I passed! Your advice was incredibly helpful and highly recommend this to anyone preparing for their test! You got this I promise!!!💓
I really enjoy all your videos, your an excellent driver: always very clear, detailed and precise. Just a pointer with this one maybe you should have a outside view also when you were demonstrating the reversing in a straight line.
Thats ok jessica!! We make mistakes so we can learn from them. NOT ONLY JUST TESTS BUT LIFE!!! and maybe when mistakes happen in our lives that we didnt make, its still there for a reason. Yes your video it really help me .I'm a new driver , so now I'm doing practice how to drive and that part driving backward it makes me difficult but when I watching your video I got an idea , thanks
Are u suppose to be looking back the whole time through the rearview mirror or are you suppose to switch between looking at blindspots, rearview mirror, and passengar mirror?
I will have driving test next week, and I am good backing up straight line using my side mirror, but DMV Florida says I must back up only looking on the back and both hands on the wheel..I don't know how to do that
this is what i failed on and i’ve been practicing ever since and my 2nd test is tomorrow and i still don’t know how to do this without hitting the curb😭 it especially sucks because they won’t let us use our side mirrors which really fucks me over
@@tylerkuhn9931 i guess it depends on your driving instructor. the first one i did made me only look through my back window but my other one let me use the mirrors so
In MA it’s illegal to not physically look in the direction your car is moving at all times. You look out the rear window, use the center bump (brake light hump) in the rear, then you can either find the X axis or keep the bump parallel to the curb. In order to see out the back window to see the curb often you have to hoist yourself up a bit by planting your left foot on the rubber foot rest, your right hand on the passenger seat & lift. If you swiveled your head like in this video, you’d fail your test.
No. Left hand on steering wheel and right hand behind passenger seat. Also, you're not supposed to use front mirrors on this part of test, just back window
Failed, really upset because it was smooth *besides* one critical error (lane violation). Have to wait until Nov 4 due to Covid to retake the test, only increasing my anxiety. I guess I’ll hopefully check back on Nov 5.
failed my test a week and a half ago bc i reversed with my hands tight on the wheel thinking it was gonna stay straight bc i had a tight grip and failed bc it went on an angle and i couldn’t adjust so i went over the double lines…now i gotta wait till may to take it again smh.
I had a dipshit at the dmv who yelled at me because I wasn’t reversing fast enough, he had me go 20mphs in reverse and there was a bush sticking out of this guys yard all the way into the street so I accidentally tapped it since I was going so fast, it didn’t break at all or anything and he failed me
Poles are difficult to judge. Shorter objects are also difficult or impossible to judge once out of view. I think it requires anticipation. Looking around the environment before getting in the car or driving past the environment helps in adapting accordingly.
@@AbdulAzizLearner dang it’s been 2 years since this, i haven’t been driving since this one and all i ride is a motorcycle, i tried reversing again a week ago and i did good and i was looking to my left and right but i was inches away from hitting a small gate , good thing i saw the back camera at the last second lol..
I failed my drivers test today because I did everything he did in this video .. the instructor told me I should have both hands on the steering wheel and never take them off ? 😞
Even for backing up? How are you supposed to properly look behind you without one hand gripping the passenger seat in order for you to better maneuver yourself so you can see out the back window?
I tried reversing but I didn't use one hand to hold the steering wheel I literally use both hands on the steering wheel. If I had use one hand on the steering wheel with the other hand at the side of the seat it will make a whole lot of a difference. In AL, during backing up. Do you take one off the turning wheel . I through you keep hands on turning no what
In AL do you keep both hand on the steering wheel all the time. Forw and backwards

Hi... Can I use the left and right mirrors while reversing the car ? Because my examiner told me that I cannot use mirror.
No. YOU CANNOT USE MIRRORS.
I've been struggling with that tips for reversing in a straight line in a street i am not allowed to use the camera and rear view mirror in my state.
I enjoy it when your instructing us
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At the dmv driving test; remember to always use both hands on the steering wheel
Jackie Zuniga yes
Even when backing do you need to have both hands on the steering wheel?
carlo m Soriano did you find that out
No. Left hand on steering wheel and right hand behind passenger seat. Also, you're not supposed to use front mirrors on this part of test, just back window
Backing up and parallel parking are exceptions. You can take one hand off the wheel to look back for those
Do you “Have” to put your right hand behind the passengers seat as you reverse ??!
Thank you so much for sharing, much appreciated 😊 🙏

How many times is your car already positioned in a straight line when you are backing up? Nearly never.
I have a push button start with a back up camera. during the test can I look at the cam or do I still have to look back?
Ur not allowed to look at the cam, they count it as cheating so you would have to look at the rear mirror
Should i signal if reversing?
Why is this not addressed? It does not say that your signal should remain on.
