tone and tabs are pretty off if you watch johns under the bridge tutorial from 2006 when he did a magazine interview on how to play it
@@Kurtis11266incorrect. The original song, in the video, you can clearly see differences even in just the intro to what JF plays in the interview tutorial he does. He's simplified it in that video. For example, he leaves out the hammer/pick before the slide in the intro. There are many others he leaves out. This tutorial/cover is very close, if not exact, to the original.

Learned the simple version when it was released. Now listening while looking at the tabs I never realized how Hendrix-ish (if that’s even a word lol) this sounds.... John F is pretty bad ass
Search John frusciante bedroom lick and that’s very Hendrix like
Oh yeah very clear Hendrix influence. “Freaking” the chords, lots of little hammer ons and pull offs to accent it. Very well done too!
There was an interview where John was explaining how the main riff from “Snow” was actually based around a Hendrix chord progression, just played differently (they sound nothing alike, but that’s what was in his head). I think almost everything he does has at least a little infusion of Jimmy.

Personally I think Chili Peppers was an experiment in combining Hendrix and Parliment with white boys on drugs
As a bass player who's learning guitar, I can appreciate all the contributions to this song. As bad ass as this guitar playing is it helps me realise how much Flea contributed to the melody & fillled it in. Not that I didn't understand that before, just a different perspective when you isolate it & break it down.
Flea adds just as much or more in most songs than the guitar does, love john to death but Flea is quite literally the GOAT.

Try Californication without the bass. It's plain boring. But it's just as true if you remove the guitars. And it's true for most if not all of theirs tracks. Their symbiosis was just insane.
I’ve always thought of RHCP as the soundtrack for Los Angeles. That’s just me.

John Frusciante is one of my favorite guitarists and I always thought this song sounded easy u til I watched this and tried to play it. Not only did it remind me of how amazing John Frusciante is, but it also reminded me how amazing Mr. Tabs is. Thank u!
There's a much easier way to play it, for me anyway. I don't finger the entire F# chord shape as you don't need to, just the A and D strings with my third finger
Just such a perfect song. Also this is a great video for learning. Hate the typical step by step approach people tend to have where it's super slow and you have to constantly go back and forth and deal with the talking. This is straight to the point

That's great. The tab with the proper note duration markings helps me a lot. I actually managed to learn pretty much all of it much more easily than I expected. It's still not 100% clean, but I get the joy if playing the song with all the embellishments.

Love this style of playing. This song was my introduction to finger picking and thumb over the neck barre chords. Been working on it for a few weeks now. It's been a tough song to learn but so fun as well! This song and Yellow Ledbetter will keep me busy for a while lol.

It's so funny like when I was a beginner this song made my eyes crossed , now basically learned it in one evening, Crazy guys!|
It’s like that first driving lesson when everything seems very complex. How do I check my mirrors, speed, the sides of my car and all these other things at the same time? It seems impossible. Then later you don’t think about it. The only difference is more practice is needed to get to the “don’t think about it” stage. With a car it’s ten hours, with guitar it’s 100 or 1,000 or 10,000. Same concept though!
