Transcript of remarks:
Thank you. I'm not quite sure what to say after that. Thank you, that's amazing.
As I was sitting there, and I was thinking about what I was going to say up here, I had a short speech written, but it just didn't seem true to what it should've been; with the authenticity and the passion and the inspiration that's in this room.
I'm going to start by sharing a story of when I first took a knee. That following week, a whole high school football team -- Castlemont High School, Oakland, California -- their whole football team took a knee in support of what I was doing. So, I went to go visit these young brothers, and spend game day with them, and I'm in the locker room with them. They're getting ready, they're getting prepped, and I hear them talking back and forth, getting hyped up. And one of the young brothers says, "We don't get to eat at home, so we're going to eat on this field." That moment has never left me, and I've carried that with me everywhere I went.
And I think that's the reality of what I've fought for, what so many of us have fought for. People live with this every single day, and we expect them to thrive in situations where they're just trying to survive. And I feel it’s not only my responsibility, but all our responsibilities -- as people that are in positions of privilege, in positions of power -- to continue to fight for them, and uplift them, empower them. Because if we don’t, we become complicit in the problem. It is our duty to fight for them and we are going to continue to fight for them.
And I go to what recently happened with the Nike campaign where the, “Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything,” quote became huge. As I reflected on that, it made me think of, “If we all believe in something, we won’t have to sacrifice everything.” And in thinking about the initiation of this protest, this stance, and where we’re at currently, I go back to something I said in a speech previously: that love is at the root of our resistance, and it will continue to be, and it will fortify everything that we do. Thank you.
Colin K is on another level now, way higher than the NFL. He's a legend!
He became bigger than the nfl look at them and ask HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW!
Agree 💯!!!!
not smart enough to play qb
@spanish rampage so players can't have opinions? Wow.
@@Jabroni2U he's actually very smart.
Mr Kaepernick, the Original!!!! Continue to speak for the oppressed, we love you bro
We love him but he isnt the original ( please look up John Carlos and I for got the other brothers name) at the Olympics in Mexico 1968
Speaking for oppressed...lol
His sneakers are made by oppressed CHILDREN.
Yep that's standing up for the oppressed.. lol lol lol

Amen we have such beautiful skin tones
“Love is at the root of our resistance” - dang, now that’s the pure essence of the black struggle
I cried
Yeah!
Yes!!
Right on, so so true.
🤣 what
Dr. West is a national treasure.
That's for sure man! His is an excellent example of a Black man!
So true!
@charli hans since you are such a tough guy who hides in his mother's basement, tell me where you live and I'll pay you a little visit.
@@richardheikkila4146 he's a coward
I wish I could meet him .I think I'm an activist in my own world. I'm known for speaking what I want, and mean what I say. Very Debatable. This is our Speaker of the HOUSE!I love my Black. Speak on my Brother.
Kaepernick did not disrespect anything. He kneeled for injustice. Kneeling is about as peaceful as you get. How do we pray?
Yes!!💛
True hero
True, how do we pray?
Amennnnnnn.Who knows about getting on your knees to PRAY?
We ❤️❤️Colin Kaepernick 🇩🇪
Yes!! from🇺🇸
Kap said “ Police killing unarmed black men in street and getting paid leave” and no one said a word. That is insane, Thank you Kap for the sacrifice
Yes, and that's the message white America for the most part never get or cared for.....
Dan Ordel when ever a police wanted a vacation, he could kill a unarmed Blackman and get paid leave. Please let that sink in for a second. The police department’s in the US need to be rebuilt the culture is so bad and the laws are set up for the police to kill.
Yep, kudos to him ,his heart is in the right place, not all about material Stuffs
Sadly he was vilified for his courage for standing up for justice
But people are starting to see the wisdom that he possessed years ago. For what it's worth, since the day he took a knee, Kap has been gold to me.
Maria Boutte So was Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, John Carlos & Tommie Smith.
@William Webber bro you are UPSET🤣🤣 relax. Why do you people follow us like sick puppies??? You OBVIOUSLY don't like us so why are you even here???? Weird how you people hate us but at the same time OBSESSED
@@Aritul what wisdom, what actual action has taken place since he took a knee 5 years ago. Protesting is not courageous it's a right
@moose boy who is "his own"
He was ahead of his time.
Very much so
What time was that ?
you mean he is!!??
@ddd ddjd what's your fucking proof KKK..
Yes he is.
You never know when a hero will emerge. Ali was villified as a young boxer. He died an American hero. Colin was villified as a young football player. He's already an American legend. The most important black man in modern history. My hero.
He's half white
Perhaps God has other plans for him. To directly fight racism and inspiring others to actively fight racism and other injustices in America.
Don't ever compare Kap to Ali.
I love Dr. West because he’s so truthful and articulate!!!!....brother has a beautiful soul and spirit!!!!!!!!!
He is AWSOME! You get so much knowledge from him. I hope and Pray ,he keeps motivating us ,with his voice of wisdom. I wish I was his FAMILY.
Who would have thought the police would end up taking a knee.
Propaganda
only because the herd mentality has set in...everyone is doing it because it is safe...sad that it took that...this is why I am not.impressed by anyone taking a knee after May 2020.
@Arthur Johnston but those who are suspected of a crime is not a criminal. A judge/jury sitting on the bench/jury box in a court room decides that.
@Arthur Johnston you can stick that up your ass. Tell that.
@Arthur Johnston all sounds aint like.
Bless you are Colin for having the inner strength to stand up. Thank you for showing the way.
I am so glad I watched this.
Meeeeee Tooooooo.
Colin is the Muhammad Ali of today. FEARLESS.
AMEN
Muhammad Ali never cared about anyone, you're mistaken.. don't ever compare them. Colin is the Kareem of today
Juchari Uinapekua If only you know how charitable Ali was.
@@Stratocaster01 at what age? When he was younger he wanted nothing to do with protests or movements. So what age of Ali are you talking about?
I met Muhammad Ali
Ali would have slapped him.
Now, who was right? Kaep taught AMERICA HOW TO TAKE THE KNEE AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY!!!
GOD BLESS COLLIN!
@INFOMANIA X Why did you even click on the video? When America won their Freedom by winning the war against their oppressors, guess what? It's oppressors also taught America was disrespectful. When you stand up to your boss to raise your salary, you're essentially disrespecting your boss. Anything you're fighting for is automatically disrespectful to the people or organization your fighting against. He was more than man enough to start something and put his career on the line, something some of us would never do or sacrifice for anyone but ourselves.
@INFOMANIA X Lmfao you're no victim
@INFOMANIA X your full of hate and bad energy ..i feel sorry for the people wasting their time arguing with you

IT'S DO TIME MR. KAPENICK CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
His story made me cry! God bless You Sir 💕💕
Amazing isn't it. His mother's father said he would disown her because his father was black. Eventually adopted by the family who raised him. Look at him now. 👍👍👍👍👍
Colin gives us hope for goodness in humanity
Dr. West awesome!
I. Love love love you. Colin. Love a real. Man. Many Many Blessings from Dallas Texas. You are a great inspiration to me and. Many more.
Colin is a modern day hero, plain and simple. Imagine...If you will, being a tall, strong, fast, good looking top 20 all sports athelete in the county. You can pick any professional sport you want to star in, while makings millions and getting a ton of national attention and praise, which every kid ever dreamed of growing up. Then when you finally get there...to the biggest and most popular league(NFL) in the Country.....You then throw it all out the window for a group of people who are being mistreated badly, you now become hated by everyone instead of being loved as you just were. All for a cause that you will probably not see fixed in your lifetime! Man!!! That takes courage, heart and some pretty big balls. Much respect!!
.....this is for Colin => ✊
The same thing happened to Muhammad Ali when he was around 22-24 years old. Go, Colin, Go!!! We love you.
no brains
@INFOMANIA X Go Colin, Go Colin!!! WE LOVE YOU💛💛💛
Yes!! COLIN, You're on the right track. Don't stop the fight. KEEP pushing for Equality. Go, Colin, GO!!!! You're the greatest.
@INFOMANIA X Why are you even here? Just to talk shit to people? Must be because you will never get it nor will you ever understand, and you don't have to. But you also don't have to come here being an ass hole.
When you stand for something. Watching from Zambia, Africa 17.06.2020
One of the most beautiful introduction I've ever heard and we'll deserved thank you
People are so quick to talk about him "disrespecting the flag" but never once talk about his story of that kid saying we don't eat at home. That's a very deep and heartbreaking moment to hear a child say he doesn't eat at home. I've always supported Colin and his initiative 💯
Exactly Me Too🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽💯👍🏾❤️
GAVEN HE GREW UP IN A VERY WEALTHY WHITE FAMILY AND COMPLETELY DISGRACED THEM BY TURNING HIS BACK ON THEM . HE RECEIVED MUCH LOVE . WHAT A LYING NONE HUMAN BEING .
Barbara m, you are not speaking the truth. His adoptive parents are proud of him. When Trump referred to him as a SOB, his adoptive mom said she is a proud bitch to be his mom. He turned his back on his biological mom who wanted to capitalize on his success, she soon faded away.
@@barbaram7829 *sigh* Please, please try getting your news from somewhere other than lying FoxNews.
@@barbaram7829 How is speaking up for what he is, turning his back on his family? If you witnessed tons of White Americans being unjustly murdered, yet, you are married to a Black Man, would speaking up on the wrong being done to White Americans automatically mean that your are turning your back on your husband?
Make your logic make sense next time.
And look at us today....Everybody that was against him should be apologizing now including that 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 of a leader.
You mean that mother fucking Bigoted Trump?
I'm so happy I came here,I marvel at the beauty on that stage
I love you Kap✊✊✊
Thank you Mr Kaepernick we owe you so much!

Colin kaepernick saw the fight that was needed , it took time for many to get on board , but we all understand now respect 🌹 Colin kaepernick
@Jose Caballero praise be to God we will all overcome, our ancestors didn't make us come so far without seeing the glory 🙏
Reminds me of Cassius Clay!! Go, Colin. Go, Colin!
@spanish rampage Go straight to hell. I'm putting my statement on the front page.
@@MsHotcookHe was named after his father and his father was named after a well-known abolitionist. As Cassius Clay, it was that namesake that he was under when he did what Colin Kaepernick is doing --standing up to hatred and lowlife racists. He changed the name when he joined the Nation of Islam. So as I was saying: Go Colin, Go!!
@spanish rampage .....you got a point there, speaking from someone who knows many cops and have many friends who are cops....but, the point is we can be cops, despite it being a hard and dangerous profession without a senseless killing....
Bravo, a real son of America!!!!!!!!!
History will be extremely kind to “The Prophet” Collin and not so much to those who ridiculed him
migf27 like candace Owens
Reminds me of Cassius Clay when he refused to sign up for selective service in protest of racial inequality and was black balled and prevented from taking part in the Olympics and stripped of his titles. Clay's stance was considered highly controversial and he was essentially considered an enemy of the state just for being a conscientious objector and just like Colin he did not let it deter him from remaining wide awake. Eventually changing his name to Mohammad Ali, he is now renowned world wide as the Greatest. And his memory lives on in Colin. Go, Colin!
That suit that Brotha Colin wore is sooo dope! And the way he rockin those cornrows too.....Man it looks so handsome! I love you my brotha Colin!
Salute to you Collin Kap....the real general of your time. I'm so glad I got to watch this...I so proud as a black man 👊
Iam from Canada, 🇨🇦 but it doesn't matter where you are in the world you have to be crying of joy RIGHT NOW just as my self. This is HUGE, this country needs MORE people like Collin 💕🇨🇦💕🇨🇦💕🇨🇦
And this is what we should all teach ourselves and each other stand up for what is right even when others make it feels wrong, because in the end no matter how long you will come out the winner and so Conlin is the winner winner winner thank you sir.
Amen and Amen.. They see us now! They must!
The best part of this is that 1 african american athlete brought trump to his knees at the end. And that's! how is done!
A True Eye Opener !!!!The Things that they Dont Discuss at NFL LEVEL they Should definitely think about what his KNEELING IS ALL ABOUT!!!!CONGRATULATIONS YOU DESERVE BETTER FROM THE NFL !!!!!!
Dr West is always in the presence of justice
Dr. West. Your voice can be heard, faster than mine. Please keep us informed about whatever!
Colin "The True" Kaptin America 🇺🇸
I knew that his time would come because I prayed and asked God to avenge him for his tenacity and to one day allow his commitment to his beliefs and his moral principles. He withstood a crucifixion, intimidation, embarrassment and injustice for a long time, but he has NOW prevailed. God bless your endeavors and everything that you kneeled for.
I can't stop crying I am overwhelmed by emotion! God protect to you all!!
He is a legend and was ahead of his time. We don't take them seriously until they are gone but not this time. Not anymore
Getting those FLOWERS.YES. This is what should happen. God is Good.

Colin Kapernick knee bow was prophetic, and what he did manifested! We are seeing it! Blessings to Colin and his family!
Very, very powerful introduction and speech!!
BEAUTY ON THE INSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE!
We stand with u kap!!
This guy makes me wish I was black.
You have changed and saved lives many years from today
Who could have predicted that this will turn into a global movement. If you feel that something is wrong, speak up, stand up and fight for justice and know that God will never forsake you.
I wish someone can introduce me like that one day. That atmosphere was overwhelming
Let's not forget, Eric who was right there with him.
congratulations colin kaepernick, a true hero, we understand u kneeling clearly then n now, respect to u from malaysia
A privileged dude who merely bend the knee is a hero? Then what do you call soldiers who risk their lives to fight for their country, or firemen going into a burning building to rescue ppl, or cops getting shot at chasing thugs? Do we call them god?
@@datdat5901
Here we go again..you dumb, deaf and blind at heart don't have a clue what's happening so STFU!!!
Alright Now!
@@datdat5901 Wow, just wow. Then, in your expert opinion, how should this matter be solved? Should we keep our heads down and say yes massa? The flaw in your theory is the fact that the unjust police killings or unnecessary aggressive handling of Black Americans are happening to those who have done nothing wrong, or they were complying. That's the point of this. Take your gaslighting bullshit elsewhere.
"Love is at the root of our resistance".
I always admire Collin from the year he went to the Superbowl to the year he started to speak against police brutality and white supremacists. I even stopped watching the NFL when they refused to hire him. Very few stood with him back then. Now, after the murder of George Floyd, everyone is kneeling.
COLIN, I AM SO VERY PROUD OF YOU ! You are courageous, brave, thoughtful, considerate, and full of love for your people. I was a friend of Cornel & his brother Clifton at John F. Kennedy high school in Sacramento back in the day & can say they were both great guys. As a native born Nevadan from Reno, I will always consider Colin Kaepernick a Reno guy & will always support his right to freedom of opinion, expression, & free speech.
It is no accident that University of Nevada football player Marion Motley was one of the first two African-Americans to play professional football in the modern era, breaking the color barrier along with teammate Bill Willis in September 1946.

I can't beleive that in a moment so true, no body has the eyes to comment here...but I feel it again n will die with this feeling because Love is at the root of our resistance and only that collective love could elevate us and fortify us enough to stay combating no matter what... Ummmm you do know he gets money from Nike and other companies. He's not sacrificing much
U know what he couldn't sit still because THE MOST HIGH (God) put this in him to stand up ( in his case take a knee) for the injustice of a people for 400 years. He knew without a shadow of doubt or being concern about what he was sacrificing because this was his assignment. I 4 one am glad he was obedient to his assignment. TU Colin Kaepernick.
