That wave that hit Cape Caution was a doozy... Skipper did good warning his crew... deck boss did great getting his people into the focs'l. Imagine the power that could shove the table through the deck doing that to a person. Maybe not a "rogue wave" like the suspense builders want to call it, but plenty big enough to kill a crewmember.
The way they came together to fix everything was so inspiring.. It's too bad this version of Nick was the one we got the least of. I hated the other one, the one we usually got. He was an unnecessarily abrasive bully that felt like he could talk to people any way he felt like just because they were greenhorns and he was the deck boss. That little bit of rank he held over everyone else swelled up his head to the size of a balloon. I hate to speak ill of the dead, but facts are facts. He was a needlessly mean dude. I get that he had demons, but he's not the only one. I fight the same exact ones. But as someone who is also in a management position (retail, albeit a completely different industry), I can 100% assure you that having demons is not something that you can allow to affect your leadership. It's not healthy, but there is a way to compartmentalize it and keep them separate. TLDR having personal problems is no justification for treating other people like dirt
People are commenting on how great the show is🤷 Did anyone see the wave and the damage that it did? Ripped welded steel equipment from the deck and destroyed a 10 ton ram. Drive a sorting table THROUGH the deck. This is serious danger that can rip people apart just as easy. And your blindsided by the danger! Not a job I would want or one that I’d take lightly 😐 No joke being out there.
that doesn't make it not a good show? danger makes for good tv and this clearly isnt a job for the weak or faint of heart which is why its good watching
you can feel those big waves coming.... just a little too late to react. There is a certain rhythm to the sea.... then, you feel like you should be going down, but your starting to bow up. I've never been in this kind of fishing trip... I've always been on smaller boats (which, honestly, in once case, was more horrific since he would wait for small craft warnings to state fishing 🤦♂️) .... but, trust me: green water is scary when you see a wall of it coming at you over the bow. Dark blueish green to blue water, though..... that's a 'welp...I guess this is how I die' feeling.
Captain Bill is a damn good Captain its most of you have never worked on boats and have comfortable jobs. This is how it is out here. @Robdog 1 that wave didn't come from a different direction and wasn't really all that bigger if any. If you've spent any time on the water in the rough you'd know that you in counter waves that are a lil bigger than the rest and sometimes waves catch u just right or break right when they hit u and it makes it so much worse. Plus that didn't look like a 30 ft wave either. A 30 footer wouldn't be that unusual out there either. Waves grow and break out there u just hope they don't break over your bow that's why u work the throttle and rudder
@Robdog 1 Haven't heard anyone else use the term viper for awhile. So I know you're an offshore sailor. People look at me funny at the bar when I say "I'm three sheets in the doldrums" when I drink too much.
He did. He told them the did a good job as a team to get the emergency repairs done. Then to the camera crew, (paraphrasing) “See? I told them to work together.”

Some day someone is gonna make a submarine crab boat. It could float above the bottom and suck up crabs and have a way to transport them to the surface where they could have storage bins or another boat. It would be much faster and safer

on this show every wave is a rogue and everything from ice to slack tanks is the main reason a boat goes down.
A rogue wave just has to be I think triple the average wave height.
