I know you did this review a year ago but I finally got to go to Steakhouse 71 for breakfast and had Walt’s Prime Rib Hash. Pete, you were so right. That hash was so good!! That was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had. And the service was top notch. I will go back
I've only had one meal at the Wave, but the food was great and the service was the best I've experienced on a Disney property. I'm glad to see that that that tradition has continued.
Sad to see our favorite item disappear, the Seared Gnocchi. But looking forward to finding new favorites with the same amazing kitchen staff. The refresh looks great, and it needed it!
Intrigued by the black and white photos you see at the beginning of the video! I wish there was an exhibition up during the 50th anniversary celebration that was more like a showcase of the actual history of the park. A nice place for people to cool down and take in photos, videos, recordings, old merchandise, tickets and pamphlets, and more! That would have been nice to see.
Like you I want the restaurant to succeed. I missed The Concourse Steakhouse ever since it closed and I wasn’t a fan of the other restaurants there due to poor experiences. The Contemporary Resort is my second home, so it will be nice to have somewhere different to go. Especially for breakfast
Our only complaint from breakfast was portion sizes. I got Walt's hash and it was good, but I don't think that it compares to the bacon and eggs (at least from our breakfast experience there). We went back for dinner the next day and absolutely loved it. Dinner > Breakfast

This is just Concourse Steakhouse revised. They should have never taken that down, especially for god awful character dinning. But glad to see it back. I had so many fond memories with my folks at the CSH, and hope this time it lasts. Also dead give away it’s a reboot is the French onion soup, the CSH had the best. They should swap them back to their true home up stairs.
Great review Pete! Glad to see that you approve of the refurb and I can’t wait to try it on my next trip. The only thing I wish you had mentioned was what this restaurant’s proximity is to the Magic Kingdom. It would have been nice to include that information. Thanks!
The wave in located on the contemporary resort..it's a deluxe hotel and the first that was being built...you can walk to the magic kingdom or take the monorail..the walk is like maybe 5 minutes it's right there.
After seeing your coverage of this place, I am definitely going to prioritize visiting this place during my upcoming trip in December! Thank you! (And now I really want something, anything pumpkin spice.)

It was the first time in my life I had to return food. It resembled a stew-like hospital entree. I really thought it was Salisbury Steak. We will give it another try in February! Glad you enjoyed. Maybe I'm alone, but when I think of a "Steakhouse", I think of a darker decor, like rich wood paneling and lower lighting, along with big leather chairs. The bright white atmosphere just doesn't do it for me. It doesn't say "Steakhouse".....
Was fortunate to join the team for the last Dinner at The Wave Andover it so much, we booked The Wave Breakfast at California Grill for our September trip. I ordered The Feast and agree with Drake that the grits were wonderful.
I'm so happy to see and hear that everything was impressive! I did get to eat breakfast while it was still technically The Wave at California Grill, and it was the last day! I'll never forget it because we had the BEST view in the world while having one of if not the BEST breakfast at Walt Disney World! I need to get back down there and try both Breakfast and Dinner down there! If you can neither run or walk how do you get down there faster than a plane?! LOL Also, when will we see the review of Kona Cafe with Macarena?
I have dinner reservations coming up in November and can’t wait to try. Unfortunately I never ate at the Wave but not missing this opportunity. #bacon&eggs
It did look like something more for a park day where you don’t want to be weighted down, and can always grab a quick snack after a ride or two. Both the pancakes, and the ‘best grits in Disney World’ breakfast looked more filling, if you are doing a room stay day. Of course, at that price, you could even order two of the hash. But Disney is so accommodating, they might even have brought you a bit more if you had told the server how you felt.
This made my day. Thanks Pete! I have loved the Wave for years and was truly heartbroken that it was being closed and going to turn into a Tony’s. The mural behind Pete was awesome, the decor looked amazing and if the people stayed the same I cannot wait to go in February. Just wondering, Pete any chance that seasoning was steakhouse 55? You mentioned familiar and then didn’t go any further. Because if it was ohh boy!
I wish they would have kept the name tho! Or at least changed it To something other than steakhouse 71.. That name is so generic. And tho the food may be good they could have done a better job with the interior/ ambiance.
I am so happy for all of us that Disney didn't f*** it up. And I am so happy for Disney that Pete gives his blessing. 'Cuz, girl...it would have been on like Donkey Kong if they destroyed one of Pete's favorite restaurants.

That's a very plain decor for a steakhouse and those tables belong in no fine dining establishment. They belong in an office cafeteria.
