"It's not perfect. It's never going to be perfect." I love this - this is why I rehab furniture. Thank you for the reminder - and I SO appreciate you showing when the project doesn't quite work out. That was strangely affirming since none of my projects ever goes according to plan.
Thank you for posting with warts and all. Good to be reminded of things that could go wrong and how to fix it. The most adorable little desk for a fairy princess!
The best part is seeing you push through. So many times I want to give up when my projects don’t go right and it is great to see you take a few days and a deep breath and get back in there. Beautiful desk.
That Desk is Adorable. What little girl wouldn't love to have it as her very own. Even a teenager's Makeup Table with a girly mirror. Perfect color as well. Excellent Job! Cathleen
I really appreciate you sharing the trials and errors! Sometimes I watch DIY stuff and the only show a perfect finish it can be discouraging for newbies like me who encounter hiccups and wonder why I can’t execute perfectly like them! It’s bc nobody does anything perfectly! So thanks for keeping thst in it turned out beautifully
Thanks for showing some real challenges. You are amazing and inspire others to do things right with hiccups along the way. I was a single mother for many years and my daughter’s friends would come to our house and say “you live here”? They were impressed, and many of the items in my house were picked up at the curb and refurbished. Now I instilled that recycle mentality in my grown daughter, and she has turned out some beautiful pieces and added fabulous upholstery skills too.
You never gave up in spite of the difficulty, that's a inspiration to me when I m working with a tough piece, thanks for sharing the imperfections and the beautiful results
Thank you so much for the showing up what happened my heart sank and I just wanted to cry I'm so glad that you didn't give up you shared on how to fix the problem the end result is beautiful love your channel and have learned so much from you thanks for sharing God bless
So many videos only show you only glorious success... thanks for sharing your frustrations. Makes me feel better about my projects that don't meet my expectations.
Hi Helen! Every single piece has something that goes wrong or not as expected so it’s important to share. Thanks so much for spending a moment of your day with me 😁
I can understand how frustrating it might be for your when big oops like this happen. As a viewer I find it inspirational that you don’t give up on your project, and I admire how resourceful you are at fixing things. I hope you don’t get too many of this cases, but you can be sure I’ll be watching for when and if it does. GREAT JOB!!!!!
Hi Katie, I’m watching this from Down Under as we call it....ln New Zealand. Loving everything you do and I have a couple of tips for you. My dad was a cabinet maker. Get a candle...(big is good as it covers the distance quicker) and rub the wax thoroughly all along the outsides of the draws and also the runners. This will truly make them slide in and out like butter. Works like a charm. The other is to help you with spray drift... Make a largish oblong that you can hang from the ceiling. Perhaps from pipe, copper pipe, or an old long curtain track and have it on a pulley system. On this oblong hang a couple of large bath tub size shower curtains so that you can pull them around to enclose where you need them. Put some weights in the hems if not already there so they don’t blow about if you should catch a breeze.. For ease... make yourself a dolly....which is either circular, square or oblong. This is just a flat board which has casters underneath so that you can turn it around as you need to spray. It works wonders in a small space. Remember to sand the edges so you don’t catch your legs or clothing on them. No more spray....and you will love it for ever. All the best for the future. Your’e doing a fabulous job. Julie
Thanks Julie. If you watch back a bit, you’ll see that I often wax sticky drawers. In this case, that would not have solved the issue. Since I’ve been doing this full time for the past 3 years, we have our garage set up in a manor that works for both my husband and I. No small spaces to deal with 😉 (also, when spraying paint, you don’t catch a breeze, you create a little tornado of air with every pull of the trigger so loose plastic would be disastrous)
Hi Katie, thanks for sharing the good & the not so good moments. As you said, you got that little desk back from nothing to looking good again ready for a new home. Well done!
This is so nice! The color you chose is wonderful! I am now in a pinky period I hope will last long time. Thank god now a day pink isn’t a girly color it’s just nice for anyone who likes it 😉
Katie, thank you for showing all the ups and downs that you go through. I am going through some downs with one of my project, but your channel help me to slowly but move forward :)
Thank you for showing a piece that needed a lot of loving and had challenges. Your trouble shooting has helped walk me through some of my own furniture challenges. LOVE the color (and the colors name!!). Beautiful transformation. Never thought of changing the drawer bottoms out. I have a desk that an ink pen exploded in, now I have inspiration as to what to do with it.
I saw the bubbles on the top when you were applying that last coat of primer. Thanks for showing this mishap, the rest of us wouldn't know it was from humidity, valuable lesson. On the "Up" side, that stain went away. This little desk is adorable & the music too: ) Love your work Katie! ps Antique is 100+ yo - Vintage is 0-99 yo
I love the color! I’ve had really good luck with @behr chalk paint so far. With all the shutdowns, it’s been difficult to find chalk paint in the 🇺🇸. great team work 😁
I'd say a BUNCH more years! You do such quality work, besides how lovely your designs are. I'm really loving your channel & ALMOST believing that maybe I can follow in your foot steps. Thank you so much for posting. And, btw, I saw some criticisms in another of your flips where people mourned your filling in some grooves on some drawers of a 1950's dresser. They're nuts, IMHO. Lol. I love the way you repurpose, update, & redesign to bring older pieces into this new century. Your sleek, clean lines and sensibility for what's current is spot on. Oh, and the paintable, textured wallpaper you used on those drawers also was very cool! OK, one more thing. I did NOT understand why people use chalk paint instead of latex until I started watching your channel. They probably both have their place, but I can't wait to try some chalk paint. I love the look of it.
I totally felt you when you were surveying the effects of the high humidity..... this may have to go away for awhile. So me in my life when a sucker punch comes out of no where and seems to thwart my plan. My most common one is....kids, take this phone away from me before I spike it on the ground like I just caught a touch down pass. Technology and I don’t play together well all the time. Lol Really love your tutorials and how you get through the issues. I’m shopping for a paint sprayer now after seeing your pieces. Thank you for sharing your journey!
A lovely job, Katie! Thanks for showing us your work. So interesting, plus you add so much life back into these pieces that might just end up at the dump! ☹ Loving it!!!
I see you’ve dealt with the lunatics in the comment section. I watch a guy who restores old rusty tools and they had a fit because he uses power tools. People are insane lol, everything you do is beautiful!
So pretty. Some little girl will absolutely love it. I love the color. I am thinking of painting my front door of my house pink. I want a pop of color, tired of playing it safe.
I bought a chest of drawers and have almost finished it and it's pink and gold !! I too live in a house of boys so crave something girly just for me so I completely understand you're thoughts on the desk 😀❤ well done for not giving up after the set back, good lesson for me.
Good job Katie failure is not an option....😂 If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. I love it. Updating my daughters room, and I will be using this color, absolutely lovely!
Really enjoy the way you explain the choices you’re making and take us through the process! I enjoy upcycling furniture as well and I learned lots in terms of the veneer and how to handle it when it gets testy :)
Wow! Amazing transformation! Girl, I’m on the east coast in the USA and I’m right there with you on the humidity! Today is was a “felt like 102” day. I recently just signed up for Facebook and liked your page! I just finished my first piece and would love to share the before and after with you. Just wasn’t sure if you minded 😊. Keep inspiring!
Thanks Katie for not editing out the issues you encountered and showing how you dealt with them. Subscribed.🙂
I agree. that is one reason I love your channel.

The little desk put up a fight, but you were victorious and made it beautiful. Now it has a new lease on life. Love it, it is so cute 😍

That’s amazing! I definitely get my “garbage picker” skills from my Dad and my boys now love to find treasures for me too.
I LOVE this. Pink is my favorite color and goes well with the gold hardware. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for showing us the real process--the good and the bad. You are amazing at what you do! It came out beautiful!
Thank you so much!
You never gave up in spite of the difficulty, that's a inspiration to me when I m working with a tough piece, thanks for sharing the imperfections and the beautiful results
Such a beautiful color. I don’t bring much pink into my world, but this color leaves me hungry for some pink in my world.
All the detail make this piece so special

I'm so glad you show the problems so the rest of us don't feel bad when it goes pear-shaped! 👍🏻
Lol, there is ALWAYS something that doesn’t go smoothly 😉
That is so RETRO! Love. The soft pink and gold hardware make one think of Retro Palm Springs.
Totally!
I love your videos; it's so great that you show problems/issues and how you solve them. SO ENCOURAGING!! Thank you !

I like it a lot! I'm glad to see a regular vid that just painted furniture without the weird stuff. It's so cute!
