  • The hardest classes that I took at UIUC. Getting a good professor is actually a lot more helpful than I originally thought.

    Ahahaha I had Vazquez last year first semester. Loved that professor for keeping my GPA high… didn’t really learn anything though… 😂

    I really enjoyed CS241 (now 341) id highly recommend going to lecture as that’s the key to doing well, that and becoming comfortable with C at a systems level.

    I remember Chem 105 (?) from 1960. It was a one semester course that covered two semesters as a substitute for 103 and 104. By taking 105 you didn't have to take 103 and 104. Then there was quantitative analysis which had 1:00 to 5:30 labs twice a week.

    Hi Brian, I'm an incoming CS major this fall. This video was super helpful! Would you recommend trying to take MATH 241 at a community college over summer, or should I just take the class at UIUC to get a strong calculus foundation?

      Hi! I’m not an advisor but I’d leave the summer open to internships so I’d take it on campus. I would take summer classes if I’m trying to get ahead or catch up because they aren’t necessarily the easiest since they’re done at a faster pace. Hope this helps!

      Hey Hi ! Even i'm a incoming CS major this fall . Where are you from ?

      I think you should. Calculus at UIUC is pretty challenging but I do recommend you take those courses. I think they have a NetMath program where you could learn through the semester online, even over the summer. You should definietly check that out.

    Hi Brian! I’m prestudying for PHYS 211. What tips, notes, practice problems, sample exams, etc. do you have? I’d love to have that. Thanks! Also, what did you think of PHYS 212? Thanks again!

    • @BrianLoh

      Hi! I unfortunately don't have any study material for 211 because the biggest help for that class was the homework. I distinctly remember that class being one of the best structured classes because if you understood the homework, that directly correlated to the types of problems on the test. So my advice would be to make sure you can do all the problems on the homework. As for 212, I took that class at a local community college in the summer so I'm not sure how it is at UIUC but the material is definitely a little more conceptual so I personally found it more difficult than 211. Overall I'd equate it to Calc 2 difficulty. Hope that helps and goodluck!

    Is it true that if you do a CS Minor at UIUc with another undergraduate degree you’re guaranteed admission the Masters CS at UIUC?

  • @yuanyao5824

    CS 241 is the hardest for me. Then CS 374, Math 412(Graph Theory), CS 450 is another hard class.

      Wow really? 241 is harder than 374?

    hi! i just want public opinion, if i get a decent BC score, should i go to calc 3 or stick with calc 2 as a freshman(because of my AB credit)?

    • @samueldekhterman716
      @samueldekhterman716 3 года назад

      Go to calc 3. I redid calc 1&2 my freshman year because I wasn't sure if I would be prepared for the rest of my engineering classes. Having just finished my degree I can say with confidence that any classes that end up using calc/diff eqns/ lin alg give you a bit of recap.

      I would do the same! You’ll pick up any necessary skills along the way. And there’s always Khan Academy. Will save you pain! :D

    CHEM 202/203 was harder than 102/103 only because the amount of time and work that was required was more substantial than 102/103.

    I'm thinking of taking calc 3 at a community college over the summer if its available. Considering how hard it is here would that be a good idea?

    • @BrianLoh
      @BrianLoh  3 года назад +2

      Depends on what you’re doing in the summer. If you don’t have anything to do in the summer and wanna get calc3 over with go for it. If you have an internship or a project you wanna do instead take calc3 in the school year

      Majors in the US are ridiculous. I did an exchange semester in UIUC and I got A’s in all classes while in germany i get a D in most classes. And im studying Math

      I did not, it wasn't required and I didn't want anymore math classes after Linear Algebra

      I did. I had a horrible professor and the it was during the great shutdown. The material wasn't too crazy hard though.
