      Even the occasions that he wasn't told to be somewhere, it's not like he can just request a prison buddy accompany him 24/7. I've never heard anyone call Andy stupid; first for that and then for playing the music. 😏

    Even though the book was called Rita Hayworth's poster calling the movie The Shawshank Redemption is fitting on many levels.. So many people have no remorse about humans in prison. This movie gives a glimpse into the human side of life on the inside. It's easy to say " Throw away the key" or " That's Karma Mother F_ _ ker" and gives a fake wall to turn a blind eye to realities we will never face. This movie taught me that there is redemption for everyone in some way or form.

    some extra info: in the book, Jake was institutionalized too... the inmates find him dead by one of the workshops. The warden is not the same guy throughout the book, the movie melds these characters to one guy & that's why he does things out of his supposed character. The original title, Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption had actresses submitting requests to audition for the part of Rita. The parole board changes the members & how the prisoners are treated over time: the first group was all old white guys who gave a command like to a dog: sit; the second included a younger man & the instruction was then: sit down. The last group shown included a woman on the board & the final request was: Please sit down. Given another 10-20 years, they may have added a black man or woman to the parole board. Interesting to show how progress is made, even if it is slow sometimes.

    The Shawshank Redemption is one of three movies based on books by Stephen King and brought to the screen by Frank Derebont. The other two are The Green Mile and the Mist. One of the best parings in movie making ever. The Green Mile is the best of the three. If you watch it keep the tissues handy. You may want to break it up into two parts, spread out that way I think you can do more clips so RUclips will leave you alone.

    They rejected Red because of the horrible crime that he committed and he was without a doubt 100% guilty of. Red rigged his wife's car brakes to fail so he could collet a large insurance policy from her death. She ended up hitting and killing her neighbor, her child, and dying herself. They convicted Andy because ALL the evidence(circumstantial and real)pointed to him, even his own testimony was damming. Nobody else was even a suspect. As for Brooks, can you imagine how much the world changed while he was inside. Andy may be different, but he isn't "stupid". I believe he just knows how hard it is for people on the inside and gave everybody a gift of music because he was able, he didn't care about the consequences.

    • @nicoletrudell2065
      @nicoletrudell2065 Год назад

      It's important to note this shouldn't be considered film canon, the short story is a separate thing even though it inspired this, it's not the telling of that story specifically. In the film, we don't know the exact circumstances of Red's crime, and honestly the way he talks about it, the book crime wouldn't really fit the film narrative. He speaks about wishing he could talk to the kid he was who committed that terrible crime and talk some sense in to him. That makes it sound like it was a rash decision, not something so planned out as insurance fraud. I also doubt someone as young as Red was in that old mug shot would have been married long enough to tire of his wife to the point of wanting her dead, if he was married at all.

    • @that.ll_do_pig
      @that.ll_do_pig Год назад +1

      @@nicoletrudell2065 that wasn't the whole speech though. When you take the whole speech into consideration, it definitely doesn't makes it sound like it was a rash decision.
      Also, there are real life cases of people getting married when they're young, or middle or old age, and offing their spouse for money etc. Many murders have nothing to do with one tiring of their spouse. In one specific case not long ago, a young bride didn't want to have sex with her husband so she pushed him off a cliff instead of just getting an annulment.

    First, Andy did fight. You see people beat off 20 in action movies, but unless you have plot armor you aren't going to win. If you have 3+ men determined to get you, you don't stand much chance. They don't care what you feel, in fact pain is preferable. The hammer may have helped, but you can't carry a hammer with you in prison. YOU GO WHERE THEY TELL YOU IN PRISON. It's not like he wanted to be raped. Don't ever believe you can't be sexually assaulted.
    Second, Morgan Freeman could read the phone book and make the world happy to listen.
    Third, being institutionalized is a fact. The music, the beer, etc was Andy's way of staying himself. If you follow the rules too long, you loose yourself. Andy was NOT going to let himself do that. He had hope. Not many people would have had the patience with that hole. They would have given up or tried to do too much.
    I'm so glad that Red decided to get living.

    I feel like you guys may be to young to understand this film and another reaction (forest Gump) I saw of yours but the wife seems to pick up on things pretty quickly. Brooks said he at been there since ot 5 and started working in the library in 1912 so he was literally there since the turn of the century it was mostly horses on the streets not cars yet
    When he was a free man.) Also when Andy would do things like get his friends beers or play opera (even to
    His detriment) it was so they would know they were human still and there was culture on they outside that they had yet to experience. Jake was the bird And have a maggot to on his first day of prison. And those pies that man wife baked I don’t care how much you love pecan pie if you don’t get pie or it’s full of maggots you might actually like that woman’s horrible pie. Plus this movie is so old we haven’t even touched on the racism that still exist outside of
    Shawshank or the uncheck corruption or how easy it was to get a license a social security number etc without having a digital trail and pictures and how easy escape was especially if you made it south of the border. Everyone has a few hiccups on their way, but I’m loving your reaction videos. Your wife should like the girl in Django when big daddy ask her to show him around the plantation and she has all those questions for both Big Daddy and later Django.

    Hello A n A. I read the book first. Especially Stephen King. So usually the movie disappoints me. But watching it with you 2 was cool.

    I'm subbed Dog! Rams fan too. It was cool to see Stafford eat shit for years in Detroit. And take the Rams to glory. Stafford, and Baker Mayfield. I can't wait to see what happens next season.

    It seemed that your image changed constantly, back and forth from small in the corner to large in the center. I found it very distracting. Anyone else feel this way? I didn't see any other complaints, so maybe it is just me. Or perhaps folks who were bothered by it tend to not comment.
